Tools List for Installing a New Kitchen Faucet:
Wrench
Basin wrench
Scissors
Screwdriver
Shopping List:
New faucet
Cover plate for fourth hole
Plumber’s putty
Steps:
1. Shut the water off to the faucet underneath the sink.
2. Disconnect the water hoses from the shutoff valves.
3. Loosen the nuts underneath the sink using the basin wrench.
4. Cut the hose connecting the faucet to the sprayer with a pair of scissors.
5. Carefully wiggle the old faucet off of the sink.
6. Assemble the pieces of the faucet according to the instructions on the packaging. In general, it starts with a gasket that goes directly underneath the faucet and then a cover plate.
7. Apply a thick glob of plumber’s putty underneath the cover plate and put the faucet into place. Be sure all the hoses connected to the faucet go through the center hole.
8. Underneath the sink, slide the gasket, then the washer, and then the mounting bracket onto the faucet. Use a screwdriver to secure the bracket to the sink.
9. Add a weight to the spray hose to allow it to retract when in use.
10. Reconnect the hot and cold water hoses to the shutoff valves.
11. If there is a fourth hole exposed from the old spray hose, use a cover plate or soap dispenser to block it. Add plumber’s putty to the underside and secure it to the sink.
12. Turn the water back on.
Resources:
Richard installed the Fairbury Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet in stainless steel, manufactured by American Standard (www.americanst...). It comes with washers and gaskets and most of the materials required to install it.
Everything else he used to replace the kitchen faucet, including the putty, soap dispenser, wrench and screwdriver, can be purchased at home centers and plumbing supply stores.

Im 16 and i love this channel i help my dad build stuff because i learned from watching your channel
It's ALWAYS this simple and nothing can go wrong...go wrnog...go wong.
Oh that's right, you've seen this show before. I know it's planned but it's so candied.
Glad they finally made a video on kitchen faucet replacement!
I installed this exact faucet yesterday. This video was a great help.
Good student and teacher. Great
The soap dispenser is awesome
*Perfect installation*
Thank you for showing the escutcheon installation! A lot of “how to” videos skip that part.
Richard. Woah, you sure you used enough putty? I’ve always just put it near the seal. Have I been wrong? Nice work, but I wish the soap dispensers could be filled from the top - haha.
MRrwmac, One can never have enough putty ! lol. The soap dispenser just pulls out from above and is filled that way.
did you just question the almighty Richard?
I installed a new kitchen sink and now the hot water coming going through but the cold is. Any suggestions?
i suggest you rewrite your sentence so we can understand what you are trying to say.
loves the putty..
I like the idea of a soap dispenser.
Yeap and its always better when you dont put the container under and just use a longer pipe directly inside the big soap container.
He couldn't wait to get the hell out of that house.
See ya! Lol
Nice work! It looks really good!
Very beautiful work👍👍👍
They got tired of us saying "show the end result" so this time they did😄
Nice, looks good
That tube of plumbers putty is not the stainless kind. That plumber's putty says it should not be used with plastic. Isn't that gasket plastic? What would be the problem if it was? Is there a way to tell the difference between plastic, PVC and ABS?
Why does my face plate have a plastic plate too?
I love how they skipped the hard part... taking old faucet out...
It's the same as putting it in, but reversed.
Emily Carlsen Watch the video in reverse
Emily Carlsen not hard at all called a sawzall
lol
If you watch the full episode on tv, they do take it apart.
I just replaced my kitchen faucet with a faucet like this one. My issue is that the water valves are directly under the faucet, thus the weight hits the valves when the sprayer returns. I still have not found a good way around this.
Hi Tam Barlas, put a piece of card board bigger than the length of the hose, cover over the valves, separating it from the hose, let the hose guide in front of the card board. The reason you want a the card board to be longer than the hose is so the weight would not catch the bottom of the board. Good luck
@@Homepros888 This is a great tip.
How to clean putty?
Hi. Does any one make a plate that allows for the faucet to be on the left most hole? Would I just have to use 2 of the hole covers?
Plot twist. The soap dispenser didn’t work and Richard high tailed it out of there.
So I picked up a similar design faucet by Moen. It includes a plastic piece to go under the metal plate with a very small gasket (maybe foam) on the bottom of the plastic. It doesn't mention in the instructions to use putty and it doesn't say to use putty in the instructional videos on the Moen site. Is use of putty recommended always, or should the small included gasket do the trick? Thanks!
That's a great, unanswered, question there Matthew. I've been looking at faucet replacement videos for information on this and on why and where I'm supposed to use silicone grease. I'm just going to wing it and install this thing without the putty or grease and see what happens.
I would use the supplied gasket. Don't add putty or anything else unless they tell you to do so in the directions.
Can you post how to fix a relationship where she doesn’t love you anymore?
😢💔
Become a plumber. When you make the big bucks, she'll love you again.
So, i actually need to do this soon. But you left me with some questions.
Like, how to remove the old one, how to add the waight. Do you need some kind of sealings for the connection between the sink and the water pipes..
Some Faucets to install are even easier then this one,
Thank you all for the help. I feel smart enough to do it 😊
@@zxzlarszxz Did you succeed?
Thought about copper vs pex A or pex B?
Copper is more expensive but resistant to mice. Had more time to think about it. If you have terrible water, acidic, Pex may be the way to go because they're plastic and the water chemicals won't affect them. They are also easier to join and run. Sharkbite's work great in jointing them to copper. Just my 2 cents.
Plumber: see ya
Homeowner: wait i need to try it.
Plumber: oh yeah you seen the show before try the soap dispenser
Plumber: see ya!
Need a show on put on a 21st century faucet to 1968 pipes
Soap dispenser..... why didn't I think of that.... I just cover it up and pretend it's not there anymore. lol
Kool👍👍
I've rarely seen a soap dispenser that didn't break at some point and the owner just left it in place and use one of those plastic ones you get at the dollar store.
Yes,you are right.Mine stopped working after a few months. It's just siting there filling the hole.
And it'll be loose in a few months from pulling the sprayer out. Those faucets suck.
You got to crank 'em down. Maybe put a little Locktite on the threads?
TOM WANTS TO GET OUT OF THERE
Roger surely did try and high-tail it out of there!
Can you blame him? she was ugly with a capital U.
لقطات مميزة وعملكم متقن جدا اتمنى لكم حياة سعيدة
They left out so much
Is that his daughter they look very similar
Idk, it sure seemed like he wanted to get out of there fast.
I hate plumber potty.... it makes so much mass. I hate that shit I never use it!!...
aft steerings rudders

dennisons gutters
I would like to see the women home owners be encouraged to do more of the actual work. Maybe practice the steps above the sink before doing the work down below.
Who installed that sink??? It’s supposed to sit below the granite like in my kitchen LOL
Different design, different application.
august No shit! And it’s wrong and out of style...she could of had a recessed sink installed! All you needed to do was pay more money to have the countertop countersunk and buy a different sink...that style is old school and looks cookie cutter
Why "LOL"? Nothing you've said is funny...or, do you think everything you say is amusing in some way? It's not...LOL...
Buckhorn Cortez LOL as in a sarcastic laugh...man you snowflakes get all worked up
It's not real granite... that's why. Laminate.
yeah try the soap too you're filthy BYEEEE
She looked like a fly landed on her face and somebody smacked it with a shovel.
Frist
why people still doing this?
eric, they're dbags. That's why people do that.
SO WHAT
sceond
ew an American Standard Faucet.
What's wrong with American Standard? Just curious.
Mainly personal preference but, I work at a wholesale plumbing house and it is a pain in the ass to get repair parts from them. It is so much easier to get parts from nearly any other manufacturer (Kohler, Delta, Moen, Price Pfister). They also have some weird inter-company polices that if a wholesaler goes with another major manufacture on a deals, they seem to go out of their way to make it difficult for that company to buy and stock their products.
well, they are expensive for one thing
