Race Options on the Scatpack - Launch Control/Line Lock - Do they work?

  • I show not only how to use the Scatpack's race options (Line Lock and Launch Control) but I test them out on the street to see if they really work. What are your thoughts on the Launch Control system? Does it make a difference in getting the car to 60mph faster than foot braking.

    I find that 1600-1800 rpm works best. On my stock tires I got 4.4. No warning of the tires. Those tires are hard but trying to warm them up on line lock or burnouts actually doesn’t help. If you read the instructions it also talks about changing out the tires as recommended to radials. Remember you don’t have to burn your tires unless they’re tires you need to burn.

    • @RacerX9
      @RacerX9  4 года назад +2

      Bulletproof Recon .. I fully agree my friend. You definitely do not need to warm up street tires because it doesn’t make much difference at all. I also find that lowering your tire pressures does very little good

    Wow if I had to go through all of those steps, I probably wouldn't use the line lock on my Challenger either and didn't know there are that many of them. Actually I didn't know that they offered it with the SP, and is an awesome option to have if you can use it. I've got one of those that you plug into the OBD port by z-auto called the burnbox and all that you need to do is pull back the cruise stock, then stomp on the brakes twice. When you're ready to go, you just let go of the stock and you're off. (Kinda like you always say in your vids lol). Actually I like to use it as as a combo launch control after heating up the tires and just bring up the RPM's to about 2.5 to 3k, then let er rip. They are awesome and eliminate holding the brakes, which I always heard was bad for them to do and burns them up faster

  • @billynaivar
    @billynaivar 3 года назад

    One thing I’ve had luck with. Full track mode. Launch control at 1800 in manual mode 2nd gear. After launch I popped it I to D. Got a 4.6 on my stock 245s

  • @lovethesmellofracefuelinth7374
    @lovethesmellofracefuelinth7374 4 года назад

    I not only use line lock alot to heat up the tires, l also launch my Challenger with it.
    It's an older SRT8, so it doesn't have those goodys and got a zauto burnbox for it. How I use it to launch is, l bring up the RPMs to about 2.5k or just before the tires break loose, and then let er rip tater chip. Just the fact that you don't have to tap into the braking system anymore, make it one of the best automotive innovations as a replacement for the old systems and is a great product

    On my 2016 RT the launch control does not go below 2500rpm. With insight I think the best results with street tires is under 1500rpms...no line lock either, that would of been nice to have having a 6 speed manual.

    I’m not experienced with RWD cars, so I always thought you could do a brake burn in the old cars when they had drum brakes in the back, but couldn’t/shouldn’t do them with disc brakes in the back.

    Launch control works great on some makes, not so much on others. The turbo AWD cars with launch control can JUMP off the line. On these cars, at the end of the day you don't have enough rubber in the rear or sticky enough tires stock

    Great video , lol, definitely need tires for the street. She would love a DR... launch control doesn’t really help the 60’ from what I’ve tried . With a 17 inch rim and sticky tire, off idle works better than loading the converter or launch control.

      You can take your foot off brake anytime after holding the ok button. Basically the ok button, once activated, becomes your (front) brake. It does take practice to get the cadence down, but works well.

    This video makes me feel really good about my car. But maybe my 0-60 runs on my car were so much better because of the type of pavement. Or maybe it’s because I have a sub in the trunk with a little more weight over the stock tires.

    On the line lock segment you said to put it in 2nd gear, is this the preferred gear or the only way line lock works????

    • @RacerX9
      @RacerX9  3 года назад +1

      2nd gear is the ideal gear for putting heat in the tires.. it allows you to spin them hard enough to get them hot but you don't overspin the tires and cook the compound

    Can you explain why you burn out starting in 2nd gear when using line lock?

    • @RacerX9
      @RacerX9  3 года назад +1

      It keeps the wheels turning at the right speed and wont let the car shift .. 1st wont get you enough RPM and 3rd you will cook the tires unnecessarily

    Putting 245's on a Scat Pack is a joke, 275's should be standard, and even those go up in smoke unless you have drag radials like the 1320's come with. Also, there is very little weight transfer with the regular Scat Packs, that's why the 1320 Scat Packs can run so much faster. Good video!
