I’m only about a year into bowling after taking a couple of decades off to raise a family. I tried this technique last week during league and it made a really big difference in my game! Thank you very much for the free coaching!
I am a duckpin bowler and used to be a pro back in the '80s and '90s. The techniques are the same and I'm using your videos to try to get back towards I was back then. The video about squaring the body to a target has made me focus more on throwing to that target more consistently. Your videos have been a great help and I've subscribed so that I can keep coming back for "refresher" courses. I will try this video's "class" to also help me. I'm more like Earl Anthony in regards to not doing much with the "balance" arm. It stays more to my side. Now if I can only get to be more consistent. Like another person who commented, I tend to pull the ball left a lot. Thanks for posting these.
This is something I've been intrigued to try. I love starting in the one-step before full approach. NOT something I'll try during league (now that we're back), only in practice until I get it figured out. Thanks!
I have recently returned to the game after many years away. I am having difficulty keeping my elbow in close and as a result I often turn the ball early and tend to pill the ball. How can I address this?
If you are right handed you will need to lean slightly to the right in order to create a straight line for your swing and get your elbow close. Next, you want to line that pocket between your forearm and bicep up with your target. If you are left handed the same applies to the opposite side.
@@kingwillie206 Thanks Willie, I tend to do that now. It's taken a lot of work and practice! There are several more things I have done since I first posted my comment. I am now holding the ball higher (ball in front of my right shoulder) and then letting my elbow drop directly below my shoulder during the stance. That alone greatly helps a pendulum arm swing; but then I also "chase the ball with my hand" (specifically the thumb) on the follow through. Both of these are classic methods to achieve a straight swing. Also, paying attention to wrist position (straightness) on the backswing and keeping the wrist very straight tends to keep my hand more behind the ball throughout the swing, and thus delaying the turn until the point of release.
As a former.slider, learning to.plant in barefoot shoes has saved my knees a ton, I never have to worry about an approach being tacky or slick, and my balance is better. To each their own.
I have tried a bit of upper body rotation but every now and then i would throw the ball out to the right by 5 plus boards. I guess it was because I wasn’t square to the line at release or released early. How can i fix this problem
Thanks for your criticism. I’d be willing to bet the guy who you said “ain’t too good” has accomplished more on the lanes than most, probably including you. Thanks for watching and thank for your comments.
One of the biggest changes in my game, when I started turning my arm out it gave me better balance and I was able to get the ball out faster with more rotation and the pins are exploding, wish I would have done this sooner, thanks for a this game changer 🎳
If/when lanes open in California will definitely give this a try! Thanks for the great videos guys!
Hope you can get out there soon!
My first day at Bowling today at Selma, California since Covid in March. . I had trouble with my ball speed at the tourney. Thanks for the technique!
@@federicoagcaoili1864 Good for you! Glad you are able to bowl. Southern California we are still not open at least lanes I bowl at.
@@federicoagcaoili1864 They still have the lanes closed here in Fresno, I might have to drive down to Selma

One of the best tips I ever tried. Thank you

Keep up the great work!
I tried the technique to increase my ball speed. It worked fabulously. Thank you for making these informative videos
Thanks for the FREE content! The production quality is awesome 👍🏼
Thanks for watching
My coach has been having me do the arm thing and it helps a lot because I pull the ball a lot and it helps me roll my Axiom because it hooks so much.
Thank u guys this is what I needed
Thanks for your videos. It would have been nice to see a 'before and after' shots side by side to compare and see the difference more clearly.
Thanks for watching Mario
I will have to try this.
We hope it helps!
Hmmmm thanks will try next practice session
This helped me out a ton
Does this work for senior bowler.
Sorry to hear that bowling still isn’t allowed in Cali, we’ve been bowling in Texas since early June.
We've been bowling throughout the pandemic in Oklahoma
is it the same for 2 finger bowling? I don't use my thumb so will the ball be balanced the second I take my left hand off on the drop

Coach Shady, any tips for us planters that don’t slide?!
As a former planter, learn to slide. Even if just a little. I've been WAY more consistent and have notice my knees feel better as well

Just make sure the non bowling is transitioning (closing) behind you quietly. This will close the upper body. Thanks for watching
What exactly is the difference between a "drill" and a "mock drill"?
Im thinking a mock drill is without ball
Will it work for 2 handers too at release
Yes, 2 handers do the same thing with their non bowling hand on the ball throughout the approach. Thanks for watching
I was like that dude looks like Mike Flanagan...then I was like oh it is Mike Flanagan.
What's up Kyle? Long time no see. Hope you are well. - Mike
No amount of energy is ever enough for those RML backends
You're asking me to trust a guy whose last name is "Shady". Okay lol
good video
You say Troy created more energy and ball speed, give us the numbers! Just saying it doesn't make it true.
Like!!!!!
Troy throws it like tinker belle. He ain’t too good.
