I've not thought much of this whole Factor thing for myself, as someone who loves cooking from scratch. But the mention of gas station food reminded me of a friend of mine who is severely overworked by her company and admitted to living on gas station hot dogs. I remarked to her that the terrible diet won't have any chance of killing her as the stress will kill her first. But Factor would be great for her, given her situation and that she is always adventurous about trying new types of food. The ads feel genuine, that it's not just something he's paid to promote but something he actually genuinely likes. Perhaps I should suggest it to my friend.

@@AlbertManiscalco He never said it was bad, he overall was clearly impressed by it, it exceeded his expectations. But he still thought it was not worth the price, Lexus offers something similar in niche and build quality for a much lower price. While not bad, the Masarati is far more expensive than equally-good offerings with only the marque's prestige to justify it.

Quick story I feel like sharing - I went on vacation with my at the time girlfriend down in Key West and stayed with her uncle. The second we arrived I peered in the garage and there was a same color GranTurismo GranCabrio. One of the nights we went to Benihana and as we were exiting the restaurant he asked me if I wanted to drive it home. The memory of driving a top down Maserati on a very warm summer night in Key West with the exhaust being the only music playing is one of my favorite things I've ever experienced. 20 year old me wanted that drive to never end

Ahh yes Maserati, the king of depreciation

    • @azb2010
      @azb2010 Год назад +31

Indeed. And the main reason is the maintenance costs. $2000 for annual maintenance. Basically an oil and pollen filter change. Another grand for belts. So anyone with half a brain leases one and then returns it before the maintenance catches.
Hence the depreciation. Who wants to buy an expensive used status symbol that is about to need $10k in maintenance?

That’s saying something about it that no one is really talking about with this car. He traded a mustang for it and mustangs are typically known for being more reliable than most other sports cars. But as a former mustang owner myself I can say no they can really be a money pit if you’re not careful. As I’ve dug deeper into these Maserati Gran Trismo’s which is basically the only Maserati worth owning is a lot of people have had a very good experience with their reliability so long as they understand that they need to be DRIVEN regularly and of maintained religiously and sometimes opening up that gloriously sounding V8 that can on have another European V8 that sounds better and that’s the 6.2L SLS AMG, because like most European cars need to be wound out and reeved to keep it working so you don’t just let them set. You drive it and enjoy it and it will reward you for meeting its needs. Then you look at this Maserati and see it’s truly a gorgeous car, so you’re not going to be disappointed walking out to go to work in it in the morning.

Must say though, beautiful car. I don't understand why only expensive fancy cars can look so good - making cars look good doesn't cost any more, why not make regular cars look nice? Almost like the industry as a whole makes cheap cars look like ass to preserve the prestige of fancier cars. Volkswagen, at the time an opponent of that mindset, rebelled with the Karmann Ghia, a beautifully styled economy car.

I realise that as a GT it's meant for wafting through Nice to Monaco, (for precisely the reasons RCR mentions in the vid) but on track it definitely made a good account of itself.
Even as a convertible, the ride was firm, predictable and capable. And the *sound* of it... It was like driving through a safari park while a pride of lions paces your car, roaring. Loved it.

    I own a 2016 Gran Turismo.
This is my 4th Italian car, second Maserati.
I purchased it in 2019, paid 75K USD cash for it from Mike Ward Maserati in Denver; it further depreciated 30K from 2019-current.
A 2014 model Gran Turismo could be found for under 50K (more like 30K-40K) and some pre 2013 models can be found under 30K but the 4.2L V8 has a known variator camshaft issue that was corrected on the 2011+ 4.7L V8.
Ferrari built the body, paint, leather, engine at the factory in Maranello, then shipped the Gran Tursmo and QP bodies to Maserati's factory in Modena (about half an hour from each other). Maserati did not produce virtually any of the parts, they had to use the suppliers that Ferrari already had at the time and most of the work was taken care of by Ferrari directly, Maserati just completed the final assembly.
The Gran Turismo and the Ferrari California are the same platform with a few design changes so it was not that much more work for Ferrari to rebadge another car for the "lesser" Maserati Brand.
Ferrari snobs dislike the California because of how much parts sharing happened between Maserati and Ferrari.
The interior is a mix of 2000s Ferrari, FIAT and Dodge Viper.
The engine is similar to the F430 and 458 and the California (non-turbo), however Maserati uses traditional cross plane V8s where as Ferrari uses flat plane V8s. The F136 V8 is a high revving V8 (it goes out to 9 but the rev limited activates around 8).
It is a real head turner which can be annoying at times as I do not want to be bothered with 20 questions when I am simply trying to enjoy a nice cruise along the countryside in my car. I try to avoid poor areas and stay only in my upper middle class bubble as I am not be bothered by the peasantry.
Other than an AC compressor that was replaced at my local Maserati/Ferrari dealership I have not had any problems with the car.
When I purchased my car in 2019, being that it was only 3 years old at the time it still had 2 years of factory warranty remaining, I extended the warranty which thankfully Ferrari offers select extended warranties out to 15 years which I opted for but your car has to be inspected thoroughly.
Parts are special ordered from the Maserati dealership and can take up to a year in some cases to ship to the dealership. Most of the critical engine parts can be delivered in less than a week but if you need a replacement windscreen or headliner it will be about a year to get a new one.
Do not buy a car like this and expect to daily drive it, I only put about 1,200 miles per year on it; barely 200 miles a month.
My 2015 Volvo S60 is my daily driver.
These cars are for well to do single men (such as myself) that have plenty of time and money to burn on what can otherwise be an expensive toy to play with.
Oil changes at the Maserati dealership are under 500 and should be done once a year, if one can afford a Maserati then one can afford the expenses that come with it.
No one cares about fuel economy at this price segment because as I already mentioned above ^.

Ferrari may provide the block, but no ferrari uses a crossplane crank. Usually what makes a Ferrari engine recognizable as a Ferrari engine is the 4 cyl crank configuration that pulses evenly from left and right banks.

I always liked the GranTurismo because I like cars with a 2+2 configuration. The engine, the gearbox, the design... When the LC500 came out, it outmatched the GT in my mind. But, especially on the used market, fhe GT makes a good case for itself.

What a small world! I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the striking blue Maserati at the Mainline Cars and Coffee event. If you happen to come across this comment, remember me as the one who drove the 2016 grey Maserati GTS during the previous gathering. As a devoted Maserati enthusiast, I proudly own three of these magnificent cars, while also keeping a few Porsches in my collection. However, I must admit that the Maserati GTS M145 still holds the top spot in my heart. Its captivating shape, meticulously crafted design, captivating aroma, and enthralling sound truly make it an exceptional masterpiece. While it requires meticulous attention for proper maintenance, the car's understated elegance is unparalleled and transforms your garage into an art gallery. I'd also like to emphasize the experience of the GTS 4.7 version, featuring an enhanced skyhook suspension and a notably more robust engine. By the way, I'm also located in PA. If you're interested in exploring the GTS further and discovering the distinctions between the GTS and the base 4.7 convertible, feel free to reach out - I'd be thrilled to connect.

'04 Rich. Saw that ALL THE TIME when my job was shit-canned and I had to hustle packages for Amazon during the pandemic. Brentwood TN, more McMansions per capita anywhere in the USA outside of California maybe. A lot of these BBBB(big Brentwood brick box) type of houses built in the 80's/90's looked good from the street until you got a bit closer and realized the landscaping was getting overgrown, there was a bunch of rot in the eaves/windows/peeling paint/etc Deferred maintenance on a house that big that would run $30,000+ that the owner didn't have. If you looked in the front windows of some of these places you'd see no furniture.
Also '04 Rich now days is painting one of these big red brick faux colonial McMansions white, just to show people that you have fuck you money to "renovate" one of these monstrosities. Just saying the demographics between owning a Maserati and one of these pretentious houses is likely to intersect.

Probably the only thing I would rather have if we are talking ultra rare bespoke V8 rwd European sports cars is a Marcos TSO with an LS2 or LS3 and T-56/T-6060. The Marcos would get the nod because no cam phasers or tiny coolant hoses that fail and require a transmission out to replace...also LS opens up a whole world of mods.
