Nobel Prize-winning microfinance pioneer Muhammad Yunus has been tapped to lead the interim government in Bangladesh. The social entrepreneur and founder of Grameen Bank will serve as chief adviser following mass protests that forced long-time prime minister Sheikh Hasina to flee the country. The decision was announced on August 7, 2024, at a meeting involving President Mohammed Shahabuddin, military leaders and the heads of the Students Against Discrimination group, according to the presidential press office. Yunus is expected to arrive in Dhaka on August 8, after he undergoes a medical procedure in Paris. Yunus won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for developing ways to help poor people support themselves by offering small loans with easy terms.

Don't forget to send the military back to the barracks, so that the scenario of a.o. Egypt and Sudan does not repeat. Military are there to serve the people, after all it's them who pay their salaries. Military should not serve foreign elites. Get it right once and for all. 😇

Formal PM Hasina was a pure dictator. She was reigning for 15 years. Recently the students wanted a reform in an extremely discriminatory govt job quotas, but she tried to brutally suppress them and killed over a thousand. Then the students demand her resignation but she kept killing more people. But at last she didn't have any other option than resigning and secretly fleeing the country. As the government fall suddenly, the country is in a chaos now. Hasina had destroyed every sector in Bangladesh, evomony, law and order, education, health everything! So right now, we need reform before a general election and no one can be more trusted than Dr Yunus, so the students suggested him. That's the summary .
