    I just could not see the problems in the show, I could not unsee the agenda seeping like moss in every dialogue and the themes (that were BARELY there), the horrible acting (Amandla has ONLY one damn face, even when KILLING HER MASTER! That was painful, seeing this level of incompetence in the acting and the script). I've just decided to give up on SW. A few lightsaber fights aren't enough to keep me watching, when the soul is not there. And the cameos at the end were disgusting. I'm out. But I'm glad you can enjoy it, I don't have a problem with anyone that does. I'm just personally done to the bone with Disney's Star Wars.

      I couldn’t agree more. The agenda is so evident and anyone who seems to not see it is completely blinded (ehrm, lukeflyswatter). It’s just weird that the only people that “like” it are those who have a lot to gain from voicing that opinion also.

      @@mesafamily5830 The agenda is not in every piece of dialogue. Lol. I will agree there is an agenda but what film doesn't have an agenda? You're just biased to think that newer Star Wars stuff from Disney has an agenda _you_don't_agree_with_.

      @@lukeflyswatter3203 I agree, it's not in every line. Though, the "agenda" does permeate the entire show.
      It creates a moral ambiguity, that causes too much teetertottering in the characters, and often fights against the story itself; forcing "lessons" that don't match the teaching.

    • @lukeflyswatter3203

      Also people criticizing the "agenda" should be more explicit about what they are objecting to.

    theres so many plot holes, so so so many plot holes Ki-adi-mundi wasnt even born in the timeline of The Acolyte but lets say he was why does he say later on in the movie that there hasnt been Siths around for millennia? , Yoda cant sense a bunch on jedi dying? theres no possible way you can cover that up from Yoda. theres more so many more plot holes that you just cant get away with with a fandom like Star Wars

    • @troysolo1
      @troysolo1  2 месяца назад

      I don't think it's really a plot hole that Ki-Adi-Mundi is alive during The Acolyte. His birthdate has just simply been changed from what it was in Legends continuity. It definitely wasn't necessary for him to be there, but I get why he is as a little easter egg.
      It's shown that the Jedi are ignorant to the fact that Sith have been around the whole time with Plagueis hiding the shadows, and Palpatine hiding in plain sight.
      I'm sure Yoda can sense all the deaths; it seems like Vernestra is going to tell him that Sol had something to do with it like she told The Senate.

      @@troysolo1Let's be honest, the director Leslie headland paid little attention to the star wars lore. There is no place for Ki-adi Mundi, or even Plagues the plagiarised (joke...don't @ me) in this story other showboating from Leslie.
      Borrowing from Legends works well like bringing in Thrawn for example in Ahsoka.
      Lastly its not a question of Yoda not sensing the death of so many Jedi, the problem is it cannot be justified in any way without breaking the canon.
      Sure the show is watchable if you chose to ignore the rich star wars canon but for us geeks the show cannot justify its existence .
      It surprising is why Dave Filoni green lit such a project when star wars is actually trying to make a come back and the future is bleak if he was forced by disney to push their woke agenda.

    • @TheTaysoren
      @TheTaysoren 2 месяца назад

      In all honesty, I don't mind "lore" breaking if the writing is good enough. Had the writing been good, the audience could have been convinced that Ki-adi-mundi had been mistaken; so not lore breaking really, just adding lore.
      If good writing can make you root for a bad guy, undermine all expectations, or flip a world on its head, then it could also undermine the "lore" without really undermining it.

    • @kingamc15
      @kingamc15 2 месяца назад

      I agree but ki-adimundi is just there I guess just because they wanted a distinct figure from the prequel series as an easter egg. Issue with Plagus is that it appears that he just copied the witch's technique in his attempt to create Anakin, unless somehow he manipulated the witch into thinking that she created the twins while it was he who did that. However I don't know if Leslie had such forethought before adding Plagus.

    The show is a mystery show and the genre holds the audience's attention by withholding information to make the audience think "hmm what's going on here I want to figure it out". The show is giving you the mental space to actually engage and think about what's going on instead of just explaining everything to you upfront and moving straight on to the next episode, like a good mystery show is supposed to do. Apparently that was too much to expect from the fanbase.
    The show relies on sub-text to tell its story opposed to direct dialogue, and it does a good job of it. The themes of family and culture (especially culture) are established firmly with the witch coven, while the themes of unchecked power and authoritarianism are clearly represented in the Jedi, which is especially apparent when you consider the fan backlash over questioning that authority.
    Mae and Osha are incredibly likeable and sympathetic characters and encompass the theme of balance. The dynamic between them kept me engaged through the whole series. The show throws clues at you to suggest the true nature of their relationship and just bashes you over the head about it in Ep.4, and once you learn their true nature it puts their shifting motivations through the series in their proper context.
    Qimir is the most interesting character in the show and his view on Jedi philosophy is the breath of fresh air the franchise needed. Jacinto really sells the character with his style of ironic cynicism, jaded by his mistreatment of people with power of him. Although I am still convinced he was never supposed to be the "Sith" according to Headland's original intention and the focus on his character starting from Ep.5 is a different version of the show shot in case Headland's version failed, which it did after the Ep.3 backlash.
    Sol is a flawed character, misguided with good intentions. Through him the show doesn't so much ask the question "What happens when a person with power goes bad?" but rather asks the question "What happens when a person with power loses his way?". Sol allows his emotions to guide his actions throughout the series, which in the fandom would be a bad thing, but the show reminds you that emotions are still important to the human experience (insofar in the case of human Jedi), and the implications of suppressed emotions inform much of Osha's character arc.
    The ending of the series (and the Plagueis cameo) was clearly a disjointed, tacked-on rush-job reshoot to close the series out without a second season expected. Nothing mush else to say there.

    I think the show did have an interesting premise but was terribly executed. For a very unbiased take, check out Filmento's anatomy of a failure on The Acolyte. No politicized views there, simply explaining why the story and characters were lackluster.
    I agree there is a lot of unnecessary quibbling about agendas, but I do think mainstream media in general has stopped even trying to develop anything new and interesting, instead taking the lazy method of replacing male characters in existing properties with a one-dimensional "strong female character."

Classic Star Wars good vs evil, but still being subverted a little for more modern audiences.
