The problem I see is that they miss the point of a prank... What you can't control is how other people are going to react to your prank. Especially if you put these people in a seriously dangerous situation or you put them in a situation where they fear for their safety... This last one... I'll end up in jail and they'll end up in the hospital or worse. Social media has made people too comfortable with running their mouth and thinking they won't get smacked for it.

Saying "it's a prank" does not absolve the crass and rude behavior, whatsoever.

I think the show did have an interesting premise but was terribly executed. For a very unbiased take, check out Filmento's anatomy of a failure on The Acolyte. No politicized views there, simply explaining why the story and characters were lackluster. I agree there is a lot of unnecessary quibbling about agendas, but I do think mainstream media in general has stopped even trying to develop anything new and interesting, instead taking the lazy method of replacing male characters in existing properties with a one-dimensional "strong female character."

There thousands of problems with Acolyte, script, characters, director, writer's ego, inconsistency, copy cat, dialogs so on. Do you really think that a magic will solve those problems In second season? It won't so why do we need a second season?

The show is a mystery show and the genre holds the audience's attention by withholding information to make the audience think "hmm what's going on here I want to figure it out". The show is giving you the mental space to actually engage and think about what's going on instead of just explaining everything to you upfront and moving straight on to the next episode, like a good mystery show is supposed to do. Apparently that was too much to expect from the fanbase. The show relies on sub-text to tell its story opposed to direct dialogue, and it does a good job of it. The themes of family and culture (especially culture) are established firmly with the witch coven, while the themes of unchecked power and authoritarianism are clearly represented in the Jedi, which is especially apparent when you consider the fan backlash over questioning that authority. Mae and Osha are incredibly likeable and sympathetic characters and encompass the theme of balance. The dynamic between them kept me engaged through the whole series. The show throws clues at you to suggest the true nature of their relationship and just bashes you over the head about it in Ep.4, and once you learn their true nature it puts their shifting motivations through the series in their proper context. Qimir is the most interesting character in the show and his view on Jedi philosophy is the breath of fresh air the franchise needed. Jacinto really sells the character with his style of ironic cynicism, jaded by his mistreatment of people with power of him. Although I am still convinced he was never supposed to be the "Sith" according to Headland's original intention and the focus on his character starting from Ep.5 is a different version of the show shot in case Headland's version failed, which it did after the Ep.3 backlash. Sol is a flawed character, misguided with good intentions. Through him the show doesn't so much ask the question "What happens when a person with power goes bad?" but rather asks the question "What happens when a person with power loses his way?". Sol allows his emotions to guide his actions throughout the series, which in the fandom would be a bad thing, but the show reminds you that emotions are still important to the human experience (insofar in the case of human Jedi), and the implications of suppressed emotions inform much of Osha's character arc. The ending of the series (and the Plagueis cameo) was clearly a disjointed, tacked-on rush-job reshoot to close the series out without a second season expected. Nothing mush else to say there.

I just could not see the problems in the show, I could not unsee the agenda seeping like moss in every dialogue and the themes (that were BARELY there), the horrible acting (Amandla has ONLY one damn face, even when KILLING HER MASTER! That was painful, seeing this level of incompetence in the acting and the script). I've just decided to give up on SW. A few lightsaber fights aren't enough to keep me watching, when the soul is not there. And the cameos at the end were disgusting. I'm out. But I'm glad you can enjoy it, I don't have a problem with anyone that does. I'm just personally done to the bone with Disney's Star Wars.

I loved it! I thought I was the only one! well filmed, great action. Like, insanely good action at times, decently well acted. Classic Star Wars good vs evil, but still being subverted a little for more modern audiences. I haven't been able to fully figure out why so many people dont like it except.. canon.. woke.. something something.. so this is a breath of fresh air.

Forcing in modern issues is just tired, but no one really cares. The real issue is the story is indefensible, and the universe and lore expansion makes no sense. It reads like bad fanfiction

Finally a Star Wars fan who doesn't hate Star Wars 🙏 The prophecy has been fulfilled! The insane controversies behind this show is clouding people's enjoyment of it and we need more vouches for this amazing piece of the Star Wars universe. Really liked the rundown and points man :) Keep em coming
