    Brilliant analysis that covers areas often missed in other Delpo forehand breakdowns.

    Wow. Only experts like him can notice these things. Brilliant analysis ! We all will miss his legendary forehand. I remember his US open final against Roger Federer , he was smashing his forehand winners against Roger. We all will miss him ! What a legend !

    He flattens the forehand a lot more than other players. This is the biggest reason why he hits huge forehands

    • @zedalive4764
      @zedalive4764 26 дней назад

      2018 data shows his avg fh topspin was close to 2600 rpm. meaning he flattened only when he wanted to kill the ball. though in honesty this should be measured, with huge rhs and some tilt comes a significant rpm. now, funny how Muratoglou skips to mention his big takeback as it's not something that's modern lol

    Coach your right!!! The shoulder was the key factor 🤔my swing partner is kind of the same with del bt had No Power, since I started using my shoulder! My Forehand became massive 💪 thanks for sharing

    You didn't include that he uses the Eastern Forehand Grip which gives you explosive power too. Something RF also uses too.

    • @YSMiracle
      @YSMiracle 2 года назад +9

      An eastern grip hits flatter but it's not equal to more power. A lot of big hitters use semi-western or western forehand.

    • @kunalpatel618
      @kunalpatel618 2 года назад +3

      Power is independent of grip

    • @commondirtbagz7130
      @commondirtbagz7130 2 года назад

      Grips don’t have a discernible effect to shots on tour. Also Roger doesn’t use Eastern he uses a hybrid.

    Te lo resumo... Ese brazo derecho era un GATILLO... Y los pelotazos eran MISILES TELEDIRIGIDOS... Hasta Roddick "padecio" sus "aces..." Cuando el Flaco estaba "inspirado", era INTRATABLE... Como se lo extraña... Un ANIMAL!!..

    Its easy to slam fast flat balls w decent technique, but only if you are very tall you can also put 90% of them in.

    I think Juan Martin del Potro and Steffi Graf have the same forehand movement. It would be interesting to compare the two in slow motion.

    c'mon Patrick
    you missed one very important fact in your analysis DelPo is hitting the ball on the rise.
    I said - very important - because he can hit his flat FH downwards and still clear the net, and second the ball on the rise has higher level of energy than the one that passed the bounce peak, that energy adds up to energy created by the high Swing weight of his racquet and we get that beautiful FH that we all love.

  • @futarydary
    @futarydary 2 года назад +2

    Plus that his racket barely ever face the ground. There's no 'pat the dog' bullshit. Just pure pace.

    Hey patrick, any role of the forehand grip used in the power? If so how much?

  • @stex5026
    @stex5026 Год назад +1

    I really wonder if his particular way of striking the FH had anything to do w/ his wrist injury... It did look like he placed more strain on his wrist than other players..

    Hello Patrick, Can u analyse NIck Kriygos forehand, because he as big power with other technic, like a slap

  • @Max_Cherry
    @Max_Cherry 2 года назад +1

    I do not see any 'wrist whip' in the Del Potro forehand. Wrist whip is very misleading as it is a result of other means of accelerating the racket, what we actually see is the wrist laying back as a natural consequence of his leg drive and hip rotation.

    No problem with teaching kids this forehand, but you have to consider that many balls would go to net or long.

  • @jz77096
    @jz77096 Год назад +1

    Topspin is overrated. High pace flat shot is king - if you can be in position to hit it lol. That's why Delpo can beat Federer in his prime.
