560s isnt much of an upgrade for 6xx, most people would say 6xx is better than 560s unless you're a producer or someone looking to not enjoy listening experiences as much and just analyze and interpret audio, depends what youre going for.

So incredibly tempted to pick the 560S up, just worried they won't be a justifiable switch from my old DT 880 (which a lot of people compare it to and say they're similar, but you're the only "gamer-gamer" who actually goes properly into useful stuff like FPS soundstage).
I feel like I've only had that true "wallhack headphones" experience once(!) in my life, and that was almost 20 years ago now playing Soldier of Fortune II multiplayer at a friend's house; a relatively cheap Koss headset I had plugged into his little brother's onboard audio(!!) was just insane, I could hear and pinpoint absolutely everything. Never had anything close to that since, and I'm pretty much resigned to not really hearing where anyone is anymore, just using experience to interpolate as soon as I hear anything...
Your previous video has brought my hopes up so high by talking about _exactly_ what I've chased for soon plural decades (geez...) and know can be done! So scared of having my dreams crushed and sitting there with two $200+ headphones for no reason 😅
Great reviews by the way, loving the channel. Found it researching the Viper 8KHz and you helped tip the scale towards getting it (and I'm SO pleased with it! ...aside from having to unplug & reinsert it on every cold boot for some reason, apparently common problem).

Great video. Nice to see someone review headsets from a gaming perspective and not purely for snobbish audiophiles. Even though I'm the snobby audiophile ;) Might I recommend giving the Dan Clark AEON Flow RT Open a try. It's planar magnetic and I find the soundstange and positional audio to be fantastic. I can't compare it to the 560s directly, but I can tell you it's far superior to the Sennheiser 58x and 6XX. There is an AEON 2 but I find for the extra price it would not be worth any marginal benefit you might get.

Just bought the 560s from Best buy Canada for $199. The DT1990Pro cost basically $1,000 Canadian dollars. I am sure they are amazing, but even if they would have been better in gaming. There is no way to justify 5x the cost for maybe slight improvement. But you said 560s was better for gaming. So good choice I guess. In reality it's not hard to see since Sennheiser is king when it comes to mid-range (not talking price but audio). The mids are the best. Beyerdynamics often have v-shaped sound. Of course not all cans they make. Still.

I've had the DT1990s for a year or so. I picked up the 560s on Friday and played using them over the weekend. While I prefer the DT1990s a lot more, by a very wide margin, my takeaway was that if I was playing "competitively" (and by "competitively", I mean filthy casual stuff like The DZ in The Division 2, or free roam in GTAO), I'd probably use the 560s. However, if I wanted to savor/enjoy the game and It's audio, the DT1990 takes it hands down.
IMHO, the 560s is like a boneless, grilled chicken breast with a little pepper. The DT1990 is a delicious basket of chicken wings slathered in hearty, spicy wing sauce.
One is for keeping you alive and healthy (in PVP), and the other simply tastes (sounds) phenomenal. 😅

As a comp r6 player i will live and die by the grado hemps, the sound stage is much wider than anything i've ever tried (25+) , the bass is there but it is light and tight, the travels and mids make footsteps pronounced and you are able to pinpoint the enemies position, also the 9-10hz peak isn't that much of a issue, unless there are like extremely sharp s's. Also look into iems, the tin T2 are a good starting point, but soundstage is very overlooked in the iem market.

This is the video I was looking for. I upgraded recently from the HyperX cloud II to the HyperX cloud alpha S, and was severely disappointed with the headset's ability to mix game and chat audio. I'm returning these and was thinking about the HyperX Orbit S (yes I'm a HyperX fanboy when it comes to how comfortable these headsets are) until I heard that you tried them and thought they were too strong in the bass. After watching both your headset videos, I'm sold on getting the 560S and picked up the HyperX solocast mic with boom arm altogether for the same price as the Orbit S. As a computer / gaming enthusiast, I really appreciate your competitive approach that a lot of RUclipsrs don't talk about. I play Apex as well and hit masters this season, and have always hated the audio in the game with my current setup. The way you talk about the directional audio coming from multiple directions and being able to hear them all at the same time made me feel like a little kid in a candy store, haha. No other RUclipsr talks about being able to differentiate and distinguish sounds when you have multiple audio sources at the same time. I just want to say Thank You for steering me in the right direction!

Other things that come to mind are the AKG K812 which is revered for it's imaging, the Koss ESP 950 Electrostatic or a planar such as the Hifiman HE400s for their accuracy and speed, or something SPECIFICALLY tuned for gaming by a company that actually knows what they're doing such as the Audeze LCD-GX or Beyerdynamic TYGR 300R.

Fantastic video! Exactly what I've been looking for in terms of a great high tier gaming experience from the hd560s (mainly regarding clarity, Soundstage and imaging). I see you have a specific dac/amp you use and another cheaper one you recommended down below as well. I was curious what benefits these dac/amps provide for the hd560s specifically (regarding the same qualities listed before). I don't fully understand their functionally but I do know that the impedance of hd560s is 120ohm which I've read isn't very difficult to drive/power effectively. Overall what major benefits would be provided by using an external dac/amp let alone one more expensive (like the ones you use/listed) compared to the base motherboard option. Once again loved the video, and will be definitely checking out more on the channel! Also the motherboard I have the aorus elite x570, so nothing special but still a relatively new mid range board (2019-2020 I think, roughly around 200-250 dollars).

I've been on a similar quest over the past couple of years and tried many of the same headphones (including the HD800s) you have and reached similar conclusions. Balanced pads are on by default, and they have more bass than the analytical pair. But the 560s is still a great gaming headset just be warned they're very accurate to its source and certain games can be poorly mixed and have way too much emphasis in the treble (probably sound designed for console gaming). In those cases the 560s can sound painful, examples: horizon zero dawn, ori and the will of the wisps. The sundaras have a much smoother high end and can bring down some of the harshness from poorly mixed games. Two things that may affect this review.
    1. You should use the 'analytical' earpads that come with the DT1990 if the sound is too bassy. The 'balanced' earpads have a bass bump.
    2. The DT1990 likes a good quality DAC and headphone amplifier. This will give better separation between left-right amongst other improvements.

Was it 150$ better? not quite. and the Quality control is what made me return them, Mines came with one side screw already coming undone and since I've heard of the bad quality control. I returned them. Not gonna pay 150$ for way worse quality control (specifically and in manufacturing, build defects) and barely noticeable improvement in audio.

For anyone that’s interested, I purchased the 560S and they do have better separation and clarity than the TYGR 300R - tested only on Hunt: Showdown. The difference isn’t massive but it’s there. Having a flat signature makes a positive impact on clarity especially with a ton of overlapping noise at different frequencies - doesn’t get muddled. However the vertical positioning - while decent, doesn’t beat the TYGR 300R (e.g. whether sounds are coming from above/below/same level). I miss the Tygr’s accurate positioning in some situations. If only I could quickly swap back and forth 😊
My very broad ratings - based on my 2 key considerations in Hunt: Showdown (competitive FPS) -
HD 560S: Excellent separation and clarity (5/5). Good positional/directional audio (4/5).
TYGR 300R: Excellent positional/directional audio (5/5). Good separation and clarity (4/5).
Btw for those unaware, this game is renowned for its audio detail, among other things.

Not really related to the headphones but how do you find the mic quality to be. For me using it in discord it is fine because discord filters out the buzzing somehow but if I clip using shadowplay or medal the buzzing noise can be heard. I don't know if it is a problem with my amp/dac or if it is just how the microphone is?

Aye bro solid af! yet to find a reviewer that mentions warzone specifically and how its requires something completely differant compared to other fps titles. having a really hard time choosing between the astro a40, steelseries arctis pro and logitech g pro x. i dont wanna get a gaming headset personally but there alot less hassle. do any of these come close to the footstep clarity of the 560s? if not what others would you recommend on top of the 560s? good work again bro

      @FreshReviewsYT  3 года назад +2

Thanks so much. I think the Logitech g pro x are the best out of the bunch you listed. I’ve tried all of them and I find them to be slightly a better all around package. The problem though is none of them do a very good job keeping footsteps clean while bassy sounds are going off. The pc38x is a solid option for the price and they’re an all around package with the mic included. Even the razer black shark v2 is a fairly good option. I liked it a bit more than the Logitech except for build quality. I found myself saying, more times than not, “wow no footsteps???” When dying with those headsets. The audio technica AD700x are really really good at around 100$ but they can be a little fatiguing with the treble. Really good for positional audio though

@@FreshReviewsYT far out man thanks heaps! Yeah i really would like the best of the best if i could. Can you think of any others that come close to the sound signature of the 560s incase i cant get them cheap enough in Australia or would you say there the best of the best? and would you say open back is preferable? I tried the dt 990s with the sound blasterx g6 and although the game did feel more immersive footsteps were kinda all over the place and i had to stop as ears were ringings for a good day after using them. Not sure if im sensitive or if its the amp or if i just didnt set them up right but i felt my shitty 20$ jbl close backs with windows sonic surround were better for footsteps. Pretty gutted. If the amp is the main problem what would be your go to? Ive heard good things about the evga nu sound card which i think is a dac amp just internal. In short aha your best combo you can think of for wallhack like clarity on warzone and do you just leave on stereo or is it better to eq and add 7.1/5.1/dolby atmos. Sorry for all the questions man but cant think of a better dude to ask.🤙🏽

Hi, this is off the topic of this video but I need your opinion on the choice. I got the FiiO Q3 on sale and I'm going to use it for a while with the Superlux HD681. I can't decide which model I should get for a headphone upgrade. I'm torn between the Sennheiser HD560S and HD58X. Do you think these models are a good upgrade compared to the Superlux? Since I listen to a lot of different genres of music, I don't like headphones that are too prominent in a certain tone, that have a V-Shape with too much treble and bass, that have a muddy or harsh sound. What's important to me is that the sound is close to flat, with high resolution and a wide stage. The FiiO Q3 is said to have a warm sound. Which model do you think I would get a better sound with? What would be your personal preference in this case. I would appreciate your answer, thanks in advance.

I own the Dt1990 and run them from a Topping amp. I use them for all games single player and competitive currently and my biggest take away was the front and back. I agreed with your statement that they tend to blur together. However I found separation of sounds was great. Battlefield in particular I could hear all my team mates all the enemies all the vehicles and shouting and such. But I found the weakness in distance. I'd hear things from far away and close but struggled figuring out how far they were from me. I have ordered the HD560s to see the comparison for myself.

@@huangelliot5601 They seemed just as good of not better at imaging direction and distance as the 560S. Sound staging is around the same. Height imaging (above and below you) is better probably due to the size of the drivers. And the audio quality is just hands down better. Now that I have had them for awhile the bass is better as well. Fuller and deeper without being over done for hearing detail. And honestly of all the high end headphones I have had (anywhere from 300 to 1600 Canadian) they were among the easiest to drive. You should be fine. The OG non stealth Hifiman Aryas are power hungry though but double the price. If you have the money to throw at a gaming headset these are the best I have heard for the price range and above. And that incudes Audeze LCD Xs and Beyer DT1990s. My only quip is even though they include two cables (3.5 mm and 1/4 inch) they seem kinda cheap for an expensive set of headphones.
