    Not only does it look better and more organized, but I feel like it's a lot safer for you without all that stuff on the floor. So easy to trip when the walkways aren't clear. Congratulations. It looks fantastic.

      I TOTALLY agree!! I definitely want to work in a safe space.... safe for me to walk and safe for my projects that I don't fall on them and take them out😄

    Something I admire about you is how much you value other's time. I remember even in the video where your daughter did your voice over you very grateful to her giving her personal time to help you. Your gratitude and humbleness truly show through to your character.

    The tips you gave are exactly some of the best tips for organizing a crafting space. Keep like items together and keep the items you use most closest to you. Also, I really like the don't start a new project until another is finished rule.

    OMG! What a transformation! I need to do the same thing with my crafting space. You’ve inspired me! Getting started is a battle. I have set a goal to get my dollhouse finished to a point where I can show it off. So I want to have a (doll) House Warming/Open(doll) House for it in late spring/early summer. A LOT of my local peeps love my makes when I post them, so what better way to show it off than to have a party where it is featured. And it’s an excuse to HAVE a party. I need to put my thinking cap on for mini hor’douvres for the party. I’m thinking: tiny meatballs, tiny finger sandwiches, little pretzel sticks and dips, tiny Gherkin pickles, that sort of thing. This was inspirational, Ara! I’m glad you posted it. ❤

    Your workspace is looking sooo good. I love it 😍 I don't have goals for 2024, but I started the dollhouse hobby in 1999 with building my dream house, my large dollhouse Morgerak Manor. Now that I have been working on this house, on and off, for 25 years, I really want to finish it during 2024 to celebrate. Which means that I have to take a break crafting FernField Castle, my dream castle tower dollhouse.

    A few years ago I had the great good fortune to design/create my huge crafting room from scratch . . . and I created a cave. A sectioned-off small space within the large room, where most of my frequent needs are within easy reach. Being able to find what you need when you need it is such a valuable attribute, and the space doesn't have to be a large one to get you there. Just well thought out, as yours is. And I almost think it can't happen until there's a makeover to help you learn what hasn't worked! Brava! for goals! So much for all of us to look forward to.

    This makeover is absolutely amazing. I have a room to do also. Unfortunately, I have to share it with my clothes closet. But I shall prevail. My goals for 2024: Finish the UFOs in sewing; finish the UFOs in miniatures; finish the 1:48 village; re-straighten the sewing studio; straighten the 2 dollhouses (1:12 scale). I think that's it. I might need more than 12 months!!

    It’s all looking great so happy for you, having a cohesive workspace definitely helps. I would think about another roll of paper to finish that one wall to the closet to tie it all together for your eyes even if we don’t see it. The only thing that I noticed that looked difficult would be your paint on the shoe shelf. I would look at trays that you can slide in and out so you’re not having to dig for the paint every time. Like little bins or trays to keep certain colors or finishes that you can slide out. Just makes for a quicker grabbing. So excited to see more projects again I’ve been missing your videos.🖤💚🖤

      Great suggestions! I filmed my first video in this space and I do think I want to get some more paper to finish that wall eventually. You can really see the stark divider wall in the video lol! Great idea on the trays too, I am keeping my eyes open for something that might work.

    I love a craft room that is not matchy matchy. That's how my room is. I use pretty much the same materials you do so how you store card, mat, chip and foam board is of great interest to me. As soon as an item doesn't have a place its time to reorg...all the time. I do suggest that you use trays, boxes, etc. to put your paint bottles in. Nothing like the experience of grabbing paint from the back and bottles start falling and rolling into places that require you to crawl around on all four. Only Stormy would enjoy you being down on her level to corral paint bottles!!!

    You're so lucky to have friends and family who support your artistic projects! A lot of us don't or have people that maybe want to, but end up being anywhere from, "not really supportive" to "unintentionally hurtful." But aside from that, thank you for showing how chaotic spaces can be from creative processes. People think it's like being in a factory, with a clear set up and steps all perfectly made up. But it's not, having to work creatively usually involves adapting to the space you're allowed to have, the ebb and flow of material availability, and of course, one's own inspirations. It's a lot less Ford factory and a lot more "wizard tower." I am starting my own cleaning and organization of space, so this is the perfect video for me to pop on and follow along with!

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  9 месяцев назад +1

      I am so sorry you don't have that support system for something you love doing. That is one of the reasons I first started this channel, I didn't know any other miniaturists and no one seemed to understand. Thankfully most family and friends have really taken interest over the years and are supportive. And you are right, it is definitely not like an assembly line in here... bits and pieces all over the place, things get ripped off and redone! Love the description of the Wizard Tower! I wish you happy organizing in your own space❤

    Incredible make over! Maybe put some a black poster board behind the Addams Family House so the contents of the shelf doesn't show through and it'll make a proper "area" for the project. :) Kinda a night scene. Plus it'll add to your cave vibe for your crafting area when you cant through through the shelving.

    This new space is soooo wonderful. Congratulations on you new, fabulous craft cave!!!!!!!!😊
    Shout out to Stormy, friend and Mr. Technology for all their help and moral support for you. ❤
    I always thought it best to put my crafting supplies in bins, where I could see everything. Those lided boxes really look and work better for storage! Thank you for showing all of these great ideas to us.
    From an observer, the brick wallpaper looks great. I wouldn't even have noticed the grout lines didn't match up. 😊

    I think for 2023 I listed some projects, which are done. In 2024, I will be focusing on my store/company. After the Pendemic (2022-2023), it seemed people were buying up things they couldn't get, during. This gave a false sense of what people wanted, and the 4th quarter showed us that we didn't have the new styles/things they wanted. So new products in 2024.

    It looks SO GREAT!!!! I love the idea of redoing your space at the beginning of the year, as well as setting (only) four goals. I like the odds of achieving that number! (Plus I sing 4 part harmony, so 4 is a fantastic number!). I know my goals are going to be related to adding more content to my channel. Honestly, I am working out the kinks of recording ~ setting up cameras, being able to actually SEE what I'm doing while I'm doing it, and staying on camera! Once I get that done, I will set up MY new space (we converted a guest bedroom into my storage/work area). I am super excited to get more projects worked on and done in 2024. I'm totally looking forward to your projects as well!!! xo💗

    The new studio looks fantastic. As far as having all of your paints and similar supplies grouped together close to your work area, Adam Savage calls it "first order reviewability". Meaning he can get what he needs without interrupting his work flow when he's in the zone. When I have a dedicated work room, I want to do something similar. Right now it's all stored in the same area, I just have to pull all the materials out and set it up before I can use it, and that's taxing all the time.

    It looks fabulous!!! Brick paper designs are easy to camouflage! Furniture and wall 'stuff' always help hide a multitude of booboo's. Also, as for the lining up of the paper 95% of all wallpaper has a drop match. That is the distance between the repeat of the pattern. The longer the drop match, the more paper that is 'wasted', but we know nothing ever gets wasted in our world 😂 LOL. Most of the time the the drop match is listed on the package along with the square footage, width and batch number. If you have any of the paper left, look on the package and see if that info is present. If it doesn't give the drop match length, look at the left side of the paper and you should be able to determine the pattern repeat. The organization is awesome!! I've been wanting to get my craft room organized like I need it to be. I have a very difficult time working in an unorganized space; it bothers my anxiety and I'm not able to concentrate and I feel disjointed. I'm so looking forward to 2024 and another year of learning and creating with you and all of our mini friends!! 🥰🥰🥰

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  9 месяцев назад +1

      You are probably right about the drop match. I wasn't willing to drop it enough to get a match because then I would waste too much lol! I don't have any left but I might order some more to get a little further down the wall so I will look then ;) I am glad to know that now so I can keep an eye out for that info in the future! I am excited about all the projects coming up this year too😊 Thanks Kelly!!

    • @MimmiesMinis-KellyPenny
      @MimmiesMinis-KellyPenny 9 месяцев назад

      @@BentleyHouseMinis yeah that drop match can completely change a design concept especially if the paper you're looking at is expensive and the drop match is more than a couple inches. But! With the brick pattern you've got and it's peel and stick you can use the cut off it in an area that won't be seen or at the bottom. There's all kinds of ways to 'fudge' wallpaper.

    Thank you for sharing your studio organization process. I found it helpful and you had so many good ideas. Thank you for the PDF organizing checklist. I'll keep that handy if my studio ever gets out of control again to get me back on track. My goal this year is to hopefully get the next level of the chateau built (Madame's bedroom, the children's space, a chapel, and maybe a couple of servants' rooms. The uppermost floor will be the father's bedroom, perhaps the room of a grandparent, and maybe a servant or two). I'm also working on the 12th scale Attic Room box doubled up side by side mirror imaged to create something special....I have two ideas but we'll see what will work best...one idea is an elderly couple's bedroom and bathroom with their endearing but slightly amusing bedtime routine. Well done on your studio makeover! It turned out great!

    Cleaning and reorganizing my cave is one of my favorite things. I get my grand kids to help and it's very fun. Something I saw that made me cringe was your paint shelf. Just assume you will always want the paint in the back and that your hands will be full. It is so much easier if they are sorted into say, 4 trays. Anything with a 2-3 inch side. Then with one hand you can just grab the blues and greens tray with one hand and set it in your work area. I usually have a 5th empty tray that becomes a project tray so I can easily grab that tray when I'm using the same paints over and over. Your office looks great! Fun videos!
