      There is a specialty store called Total Wine they would most certainly have it I would think.

      Total wine should have it, if there’s any in California, we have that Specs and Western beverages and all 3 stores have it. Check mom and pop stores in your city or Costco’s liquor store should have it.

      comentong on this 11 months late with my own bottle next to me that I just baut at work.Hello I work in a liquor store in Minnesota (that's as specific as I'm willing to get) here the crown 18 xr is a alocation item only. typically stores are alocated this item one a year and when they are alocated this it is 3-4 bottles. This is all info that is specific to MN. What you need to do is go to a local liquor store. Form a relationship with them. Get to know the staff by chatting them up about liquor. And then eventually asking if they can special order or simply ask if the have a list for alocated items. Our store operates on first come first serve and only sell these types of items to people we know or see around often. Hope this helps!

    Another useless release by Diageo, Crown is not what it use to be especially with countless release of marketing gimmicks. It’s become too commercialized. I stick to more authentic bourbons due to stricter production laws. There’s no telling what additives or flavourings is added into Canadian whiskeys and not to mention crown is always very generous on their E150a caramel colourings. Colour tests as a whole are pointless and mean nothing. $200 for a bottle of this is laughable, I’ll stick to more authentic bourbons. Thanks

    • @WhiskyWhistle
      @WhiskyWhistle  2 года назад +7

      Brad, I gather you’ve not tried this? It’s odd when people go out of their way to rag on something they haven’t tried. Maybe a local whisky bar has some you can taste?
      There are no additives or flavourings - what you’re referring to is the 9.09% rule which by the way saved the American whisky industry. 9.09% of two years or more oak aged spirits can be added - this occurs mostly in cheap USA bound export whiskies due to tax savings from an allowance created by Seagram and signed into import laws. Also in the confusing vernacular of Canadian whisky that is blended(typically at a single distillery with both pot and Coffey stills) - you have base whiskies(Coffey/column still higher still proof - light and creamy) and flavouring whiskies(copper pot still lower still proof more robust flavour)
      As for colour, absolutely, I wish big Canadian distillers didn’t use it. USA is the only country that doesn’t allow it in certain whiskeys(bourbon and straight anything)
      $200 Canadian for 18 year old whisky - about double the price of Wiser’s or Gibsons, but this is the market leader…. But it is a bargain compared to similar aged bourbon Scotch or Irish whiskeys. Plus it has sold out everywhere so it appears it was priced lower than it could have been.

    If it was sooo good, why did they shut down that distillery? 🤔

    • @WhiskyWhistle
      @WhiskyWhistle  Год назад +2

      Because when it shut down (Waterloo in 1990 and La Salle in 1993) whisky was not popular enough to warrant keeping 3 distilleries open. Gimli was the newest distillery and close to a good water source. Wages are cheaper here too, as is land. Gimli is essentially Crown Royal Town.
      Then you had the Bronfman Seagrams empire breaking up all over the world. Perhaps had a Canadian company bought Crown Royal instead of a UK company, they’d all still be operating. Crown Royal(Diageo) is opening a new distillery in Sarnia, Ontario.

    I got 2 bottles of the 18 today sealed still. Wanted more info on it the bottle seems to only say "65" on the bottom. Wish it had a seal date on the bottom, and do these still get produced today or was it a one time release? Hope someone can answer my questions wanting to buy more if its actually rare found a store with 4 bought 2. 1 for my dad 1 for me

    • @WhiskyWhistle

      Still produced. Look for XR Blue(or Red) if you want to find a collectible. You’ll have to use the lot number which should be on the back of the bottle. If you’re talking about a number on the base, that might be the fill level for that bottle from the opening to where it is supposed to be filled to for 750ml.
      Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃

      Well the cheaper whiskies that you would get are for shooting and or party style events, but the more expensive stuff is for very special rare occasions where one would not shoot or mice it but to be sipped very slowly and enjoyed and so on.
