Muthafuka! I just went to russels and rare breed because i cant get my ER and Stagg Jr
Old grand dad has been hard for me to find for awhile now
Weller is impossible to get in chicago already
@@itscoldinwinter1 I live in NC which is a crappy ABC state. Currently you will only see the standard Benchmark of shelves. Early Times rarely and usually behind the counter. Mostly good on WT and Four Roses stuff. Never going to see a KC 12 or 15 on the shelf. Maybe behind the counter, but likely in the lottery for more populated counties. OGD 114 spotty, but not too bad. Weller Green never unless it is a lottery o a really rural county. OF 19's series pretty available. 1792 spotty like OGD 114. John J Bowman hard to find, but most other Bowman's fairly available.
Would love to see some of those bottles (empty, photo, or full) when you’re talking about them. Thanks for the list!
Shoot! Sorry about that!
@@BourbonRealTalk That's a great thought. May be the only chance for some of us to see them, as I don't see many talked about bottles in the wild.
Totally agreed!
agreed!
I'm with you on the old forester. The 100 proof signature is so phenomenal and fruity pebble'esc that I buy it by the 1L bottle. IMO it's better than the 1924. Spend less get more.
Enjoyed this advice on bourbons that may become scarce. I will remember this the next time I’m shopping. Thanks for the love! Love you guys too!
Thank you for saying you love us back. We don't always get to hear that!
I really love your videos. It feels like I'm just chillin listening to two dudes talking about whiskey. Knowledgeable also and I love how you guys don't come off snobbish and appreciate the WHOLE market.
Wow! Thanks!
Guys thanks for the insight. I like your choices and the information that went along with it. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. More people need to hear those 3 words. Don't be afraid to hug either.
I am an agressive hugger!
I totally agree on the Benchmark Bonded. It's like a younger Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch. It's sweet and fruity with less barrel spice, but for less than $20 in Texas it's a must stock.
I love it!
Knob Creek 9Y was my awesome! I look forward to trying the 12Y! I recently tried 1972 small batch and loved it! I have seen early times but wasn’t sure about it but now I want to try it because I have heard about it from you guys and a few other bourbon channels I subscribe to. I didn’t realize how good wild turkey 101 really is until I tried a few other products and now I am leaning toward trying the rare breed and Russel’s reserve 10Y!
good stuff! i joined the FB group a few days ago and answereed that I had not seen this podcast. Well seeing this today reminds me that I DID see you on youtube before. love the positive vibes!
Welcome aboard!
Glad I viewed your whole video. The ending was the best about your mission. Sorry to hear about your brother’s decision. :( I have lost a couple of people that way. :( And I’ll join your community too! I’ve been saying for years that the way people cure societal issues is through social meetups. Everyone is well connected, yet completely isolated. Great stuff guys! :)

Gonna use one of my favorite quotes here. "Do not be blinded by fear or anger, all is only as it is". Some whiskey goes, new classics appear. Life goes on. Age isnt everything in whiskey.
Amen!
Exactly
New Riff, Castle and Key, Wilderness Trail, random bourbon produced outside of KY.
@@mikeh7917 one of my new favorites is the bottled in bond rye from painted stave in delaware
@@mikeh7917 I love all three of those brands. For anyone reading this those are all inside of KY. The OP was saying there are good products from outside of KY. I like Ironroot (TX), Frey Ranch (NV), Leiper's Fork (TN), Anita's Choice (SC), and I am sure there are others.
I have just started my bourbon journey. Thanx for saying what you did at the end. Definitely needed to hear that..
I love you! This world just needs a little more love!
Thanks Wes and Randy for another great and informative episode! Up here in Alberta (at least at the stores I shop at) the selection for Bourbons in usually small to begin with, but it is improving. I noticed that a store I have purchased from in Calgary has Leiper's Fork Bourbon, and a different store seems to get E.H.Taylor on a pretty regular basis. I have seen Wild Turkey Rare Breed in a couple of stores for a pretty reasonable price, perhaps next payday I'll pick up a couple of bottles! Take care Guys!! - Dave
That is awesome. I would recommend all of those bottles.
Absolutely love this channel. I've about 3 years into the bourbon world, bourbon knowledge level: 3 out of 10. But have learned so much about bourbon by watching your channel for the past few months. Great stuff!
Thank you! I am so glad it has been helpful!
Yeah, me too, about 3 years in. The only notes I could pick out back then were kerosene or gasoline. ⛽️ 🤣
Great job on this guys. Appreciate you backing up your views with some data. Already seeing a lot of these getting thin in N Texas.
Much appreciated!
I’m new to bourbon and trying to learn. I appreciate what you are all about. Great content. Thank you
Thanks so much for being here!
Tried Benchmark after watching this. Love it! Went back to get 6 bottles today! A top 3 in my collection now.
Really good value!
And this right here ladies and gentlemen is why we lose bottles on the shelf.
@@ThatdamnRocknRoll Nailed It
Woodford Double Oaked should be on this list. Delicious and not too spendy. Better than many allocated bourbons but always on the shelf!
It got a lot of votes, but it is not a traditional bourbon since it is toasted barrel finished, so it didn't make the list.
I *love* the Double Oaked.
One of the best "always available" bourbons and has deep flavors. One of my go tos.
My daily
@@rshark6821yeah I honestly don’t think it’d disappear off the shelf tbh, but I live in the Mecca of bourbon in Kentucky, so I have a much larger selection than people out of state. It’s my go to

Excellent episode. Just started seeing your channel and it is excellent. Cheers!
Glad you enjoy it!
Great vid, love your expert analysis and positive message. Cheers from Chicago!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great list and I think you're right about most of those. But I had to laugh when you mentioned Weller SR. It's been hard to get here in NoCal for five years and almost a unicorn for the past two or three.
It is readily available in TX, but I hear you.
Love the positive energy. Subscribed!
Awesome! Thank you!
Most of my favorite regulars shelfers are right here in this list! Great list boys! Cheers! 🥃

My favorite whiskey RUclips channel. Keep rocking guys!
Wow, thanks!
First time watching, great video ! Keep up the good work guys.
Awesome! Thank you!
You guys are spot on with these bottles. John J Bowman is gaining popularity here in VA already. Also heard a rumor that they have or are planning to change their distillate. Even more reason to buy a few backups!
I heard the same rumor. This is the real reason Bowman will disappear as we know it!
I am looking on information for this rumor. If you have any please reply.
My first time watching, I enjoyed the show , even the merch advertisement. Your mission to raise a glass and toast with others is truly in the spirit of life .
Thank you. If we all look for opportunities to connect over common ground I believe we can stop being so divided over differences.
Got a 1792 full proof store pick.... Amazing. Love it.
It is really one of the best pours for the money IMO.
Great video guys! Agree with all you have said and crazy how this market has blown up! I would very much agree that Knob Creek does a great job with their older bourbons. Any rumors on the KC 18?
Not that I know of.
Great info. Thanks for the advice!

All these bottles u have mentioned are so easy to find here in California, and I love everyone of them.
That is great to hear. Which do you think is your favorite?
Recently I've seen pricing on some whiskey sky rocket well above 20% with some disappearing from the shelf. Yes, I do expect to get the Old Forester 1920, Rare Breed, and Russell's Reserve 10, as well as Smoke Wagon to be harder to find, so, I'll stock two extra bottles of each when I get the chance. I'm not experimenting with the new whiskeys coming out, since, the old stuff that I know I like is less available.
It is likely that many of the tried and true brands will never have a shortage, so there will always be plenty of good whiskey to be had at an affordable price.
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
If Wild Turkey 101 ever gets hard to find I’ll lose it. I certainly agree about WT premium products. They are amazing and seem to finally getting the love they deserve
I think WT101 is a stretch. Since it is non age stated they would probably just lower the age of the barrels going into the batches.
I agree. I'd lose my mind
WT101 is age stated. It says 6-8 on the back.
@@voloftn Wow! I didn't realize that. Thanks!
@@voloftn It says: "for up to 6 to 8 years" which to me means that the oldest distillate in it depending on the batch is in that range. Not the youngest.
you basically listed all my current go to bottles including 1920/10, RareBreed, KC SBS, and WT101 are currently the some bottles I always have stocked on the shelf. The only other bottle i always try to have that has become harder and harder for me to get is Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof (i know it's tennesse wiskey). When I got into bourbon a year ago that bottle was at every store with a decent selection, now i can't find anywhere.
Agreed. #1 on this list for me would be JD single barrel BP. It drops seemingly only twice a year now and I pick up a new one everytime I find one I dont already have
A. JD is bourbon. B. My understanding is JD is slowly discontinuing the barrel proof. As they make more money off of their santra and premium lines. And can use those bottles for special releases
I left off JD because of the TN whiskey vs bourbon debate.
@@xmikewallace17 the Sinatra bottle sucks. I got a sample once and was very underwhelmed
Great list. I started hunting Evan Williams Single Barrel. Managed to find 2 bottles. Sad to see it off the shelves outside of KY. I managed to get a bottle of KB 15 for MSRP, its a great pour but prefer the 12.
I would have to agree. 12 is pretty great! Cheers!
Little known place by me in SC seems to have plenty of it. Had 6+ bottles on the shelf of it friday. I just got into bourbon this year and so a blind squirrel finds a nut.
I stacked Early times deep when the news first came out. We'll see.
If you love it that is a good move!
7:13 Old Grand-Dad 114 has been out of stock here in Albuquerque for *months*. The Total Wine site used to say it would be available in April, but that didn't happen, and now there's no ETA at all. But the bonded is good, and easy to find. The 80 proof is also everywhere, but I've not tried it.
It was the opposite here in Texas for a bit. The 114 was out there, but I could not find the bonded.
Pretty new to Bourbon/ Whiskey collecting nice to have a start to my collection. Thanks

thanks for that info about bowman brothers. good to know!
No problem 👍
As always you guys are right on top of it. Some of these I just got may first taste of, and I like um. OGD114 is tough to find so I grab one when I can. Also how is that Old Elk? I just purchased a store pick and am eager to try it
I have had a lot of solid Old Elk SiB. Greg Metz made the whiskey when he was master distiller of MGPI, so while it is technically a non distiller produced product, it also kind of isn't.
OGD114 is very good. I sometimes blend it with a wheated bourbon. The Old Elk that I had was a wheated store pick which was much higher proof than the standard and it was awesome!
I’m watching this video a year after it’s release and happy to say all bottles are still available.
A version of them is, but supply varies per region too.
OGD 114 still 22.99 where I am. I'm loving it

Great idea for an episode. A true service to the bourbon community.
Thank you for your positive comment! We always aim to provide informative content for the bourbon community. Is there a specific topic you would like us to cover in a future episode?
@Bourbon Real Talk You're both doing a great job. Keep it Real and Honest.
Ideas...
Maybe: Do more videos where you guys blind taste and score different ECBPs and FRLESBs.
Do more videos on Four Gate Products
Break down what "Spice" in a Bourbon/Rye could be...so many people use the term to refer to a whisky but that could be anything like jalapeño or cinnamon.
Consider setting up a rating scale out of 10 in 0.1 increments where you guys could each score bourbons/ryes. This would be a personal enjoyment score for each of you as opposed to an official web score...hence the audience will get to know what you each like best over time helping inform their purchasing decisions.
Great list 👍🏻 Luckily I have a secret little fishing hole that I already get everything on your list 😉
Nice!
Four roses! I love that stuff!
It is one of my favorites. 4RSmB is on this weeks episode about our top 5 low proof bourbons.
Had a Weller’s 12 last night at a function. What a great pour. Can’t find it in a store anywhere.
Great pour for the price!
I'd add the new JD Bonded and JD Triple Mash to this list, they just came out and seem really popular.
Yes, but I try not to include JD to bourbon lists because the people who do not know the standards of identity for whiskey get upset and cause drama.
This is very spot on. At least in my area. OGD 114 disappears as soon as it arrives. Same with Bowman. The OF 1910 to 1920 not yet but some smaller Mom n Pop stores are pricing them like they're allocated. Around $85 each. Early Times BiB has been scooped up to extinction. Knob Creek Rye picks are the only ones available in stores. Four Roses SB Barrel Proofs I have been in 5 years. If they do come in they're now $90 at Total Wine. Sigh. I may just call it a day with my JW Dant BiB and JD Single Barrel Barrel Proofs. This is just getting nuts with Buffalo Trace, Brown Foreman, Heaven Hill.
That Dant and JDSiBBP will get you by for sure. Cheers!
Omaha 1910 and 1920 $55 each

Great video! In Wisconsin, Russell’s 10 year reserve is already on allocation. Has been for about 8-10 months too. Also, we can hardly ever get anything from BT. I’ve never even seen the Bemchmark you mentioned, but I’ll be on the look out now. Thanks guys!
I am not sure benchmark is distributed in all states. That might be your issue.
The nicer Benchmark products are only in Indiana right now, as far as the Midwest goes.
Russell's 10 is available everywhere in Illinois...not allocated, $32
@@ChasHawk3 Benchmark just hit TX. It is already impossible to find the full proof.
I live in Wisconsin and have not seen any shortage near me also I saw Benchmark yesterday.
@@jeffkelly5972 where are you located? I would love to find Benchmark. I promise I won’t take it all.
Four roses is my favorite right now... I just purchased all 4 of them... yellow label... small batch... single Barrel... and single barrel select. This is 1 brand that I'm going to get as many bottles as I can!!!
I love 4R. If you ever get a chance try the Limited Edition. I have loved everyone I have tried.
Where can get that 1 from I only can get the 4 I have in Tennessee?
Well I won't be getting the limited edition any time soon... I just looked up the price and it was 899!!!🙄🤣
Thanks for input, great video, love you brothers, love my wild turkey 101 old fashioned’s ! People will loose it if that becomes allocated.
Love you too! Thanks for the support!
I can tell you how buffalo trace from nearly before thanksgiving to around Christmas time definitely changed. It was light now it’s dark
Interesting. My state sucks IMHO but luckily all of those are pretty easy to get. Strange how things like 1792 Small Batch and others are hard to find in other places. I guess i’ll call myself lucky and just worry about replenishing my GTS. Best advice is to support a good local bottle shop and they’ll hook you up!

Great video guys! I think your points perhaps fail to take into account the tremendous expansion of the industry. The demand is there, I agree. However, many established distilleries are growing, and many new players are entering the market. Thankfully I'm still seeing OGD 114 for 20 bucks, and OF 1910/1920 bottles still prevalent. Hopefully these don't fade away. I'm just not seeing the demand for those in your top ten that requires anyone to hoard those aforementioned bottles.
This video is old enough to say we missed the mark on some (but not all) of these.
dang you guys, I like almost all of those you mentioned. can't get Weller here anyway but the others I usually find.
It's been around a year since this video was released and aside from the ones where there was some sort of formula change, all of the others have remained at the same level of availability in our market. Hopefully they won't be too hard for you ro find! Cheers.
Weller SR is money, when you can find it, at the retail price. I love it blended with the OGD114 to make a very nice 4 grain (2:1).
Great idea! I think I will try that.
I'll have to try that!
Really like your channel, are you talking bottom shelve Benchmark or the cask strength. Cheers
I was talking BiB, SiB, and FP.
We’re swimming in Old Forester and Weller SR up in Canada thankfully.
Nice!
I found Knobb SiB for the first time in about a year while out of town this weekend, bought a few of them! Hearing WT products on your list made my heart sink.. gonna have to stock up!
Russell's SiB has been impossible to find in my area for over a year.WT101 they would likely just use younger barrels since it is non age stated.
@@BourbonRealTalk So if my area has Russell's SiB, 10 year, Rare Breed, KY spirit, 1920, Kc Single Barrel, Barrel Reserve, as well as being to find a KC 12 every few months or so. Should I consider myself lucky. I will say rare breed disappears but I can always find it in the town next door. John J single is pretty easy to find. While it's about one a year I can find blantons, and EHT. Eagle rare is super easy to get when it comes around. like every couple months. Should I consider myself lucky? Hunting is cool and all but so many solid reliable bourbons are 4 minutes away I have really become fond of KC expressions.

I am a new guy to bourbon. Have 90 bottles of rare tequila. Thank you for all your advice. Live in Alaska & Arizona. Starting to look.
Thank you.
Prices are high in Alaska, but you can get some good stuff in AZ.
Ok. Was having a hard time finding OGD 114 here in KY. I could only find it at one place that sold it for $37. I asked a manager at a Kroger wine&spirits if they could get it. The next week he had a case of it. He doesn't have the shelf space so he keeps the case behind the counter and I just go in asking for the bottle in the white case. Great buy for 24.99.
Awesome. BiB has been missing in my area lately, but I have seen some 114s around.
Most of the bourbon you mentioned I keep stocked at least 2-3 deep. Especially the Rare breed and OGD114. Can you possibly see Woodinville becoming allocated or at least harder to find? It seems to me that people keep raving about it in videos, and even at the liquor store I’ve heard one or two talk about it randomly.
Woodenville is managing their expansion based on inventory. If they started to pick up in sales with their current states of distribution, I would imaging they would slow down on opening new markets. Anything is possible.
That whisky is junk it wont go anywhere anytime soon.
@@williambedard4375 If Woodenville tastes bad to you, you may not like bourbon. While their average expression is not "world class" like a GTS or WLW, it is a solid well product product. Maybe scotch or some other spirit is your jam?
I was able to recently find the Early Times bottle in bond and man it was delicious.
So glad you liked it!
Great video. I was able to grab a single barrel 9 year and a normal release 12 year knob creek. Both were fantastic. One of the local stores will have a knob creek single barrel rye store pick coming in next month. I am so looking forward to trying it.
Their rye is great too!
I’m 75 years old and have drank bourbon for years.I’m just now realizing I had no clue as to all the variations of bourbon that’s out there but I’m anxious to learn why I like what I’m drinking.
Go buy some mini bottles of the brands you are unfamiliar with. Then pour .25 ounce of everything you have open and try them side by side in identical glasses. It will really help you figure out what you like and why.
I’d cry if I couldn’t buy Old Grandad 114. It’s my favorite every day bourbon.
It was gone in my market for a bit, but seems to be easier to find lately.
Favorite whiskey channel. Keep it up.
Thank you!
After doing some light tasting I compared Evan Williams small batch vs benchmark 80 proof and man the benchmark beat the hell out of it for taste. Pretty wild how good the Buffalo trace is even at the lower bottle prices
First time viewer and you know what… instant fan with the kindness extended to strangers there at the end. I found it refreshing. For that reason I hit that button. A negative comment is lazy. It takes effort to forget yourself, and extend a positive remark toward another human being. Ok I was drinking a little bit of rabbit hole (little bit in quotation marks) while I watch this podcast so maybe a bit emotional about it, but still, I’m pretty sure I’m right, I’ll check in the morning . Good night.
Thank you for watching, we appreciate you being here!
Great video and interesting predictions, I hope you are wrong but glad I have some of those already.
You and me both!
Just picked up a bottle of the Russelk’s Reserve Single Barrell, they are on close out here, and only have 2 bottles left. I grabbed one for $52, was selling for $75
Damn! That sounds like a good deal!
Absolute nail on the head with Early times. People are already screaming that “the old bottle is better” when Sazerac has confirmed over and over that they are still bottling the the stock barrels that came with the label purchase. One thing I’d clarify is that regular Early Times isnt even bourbon and is pretty much undrinkable trash, it’s the Early Times Bottled in Bond that is the bottom shelf treasure that should be hunted
I already can't find the Bottled in Bond stuff anywhere (Central Florida) But I've kept my eyes open for just a year or so. (Not specifically hunted for it)
@@Pecola1FromScratch Up here in central illinois it’s not a common sight either. Fortunately we’ve been seeing about a case or two hit the area every month, I try to pick up as much as I can when I see it. But they unfortunately don’t last long on my shelf.
Thanks for the clarification.
I am reeling at this comment right now because I was just in Kentucky and the Early Times BiB was abundant.
@@josephvu7775 😔
Are we talking about the same Early Times could buy in a plastic 1.75 for $17.99 fifteen years ago? Insane. Totally agree w the 1792 and OF 1920, great bourbon and pretty easy to find for now.
Yes, but because the formula will change and people will want bottles of the old stuff they are used to.
It's funny how regional these can be. And no, I'm talking trash to your video, because I agree. In fact, I'd say these are already at the point you predict in some places. In Denver metro, I've never seen Weller SR, OF 1910 and 1920 will disappear from shelves for a couple of months at a time, JJB I've seen once (at about $100). The hype is already there for all of those and it's a constant game trying to track down some of these bottles that are still pretty easy to find further east/south.
It is weird how regional all of this is. Cheers!
Yeah, that Benchmark Full Proof is already flying off the shelves.
I've already been stocking up.
I love it!
Been searching here in Michigan for KC 12 and I've seen 2 bottles in the last 3 months. 1 for $110 and 1 for $89...I bought the $89 one and looking forward to opening it at the right time
I have an open and a bunker, and I think it might be my favorite KC. Except KC18 which I didn't get a chance to buy, but I love.
I have seen it a few times at big stores in GR, but it's just luck. It disappears the day it comes! Personally, I actually prefer the KC 9yr 120proof
