Mostly good on WT and Four Roses stuff. Never going to see a KC 12 or 15 on the shelf. Maybe behind the counter, but likely in the lottery for more populated counties. OGD 114 spotty, but not too bad. Weller Green never unless it is a lottery o a really rural county. OF 19's series pretty available. 1792 spotty like OGD 114. John J Bowman hard to find, but most other Bowman's fairly available.

7:13 Old Grand-Dad 114 has been out of stock here in Albuquerque for *months*. The Total Wine site used to say it would be available in April, but that didn't happen, and now there's no ETA at all. But the bonded is good, and easy to find. The 80 proof is also everywhere, but I've not tried it.
I totally agree on the Benchmark Bonded. It's like a younger Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch. It's sweet and fruity with less barrel spice, but for less than $20 in Texas it's a must stock.
Knob Creek 9Y was my awesome! I look forward to trying the 12Y! I recently tried 1972 small batch and loved it! I have seen early times but wasn’t sure about it but now I want to try it because I have heard about it from you guys and a few other bourbon channels I subscribe to. I didn’t realize how good wild turkey 101 really is until I tried a few other products and now I am leaning toward trying the rare breed and Russel’s reserve 10Y!

After doing some light tasting I compared Evan Williams small batch vs benchmark 80 proof and man the benchmark beat the hell out of it for taste. Pretty wild how good the Buffalo trace is even at the lower bottle prices
I'm with you on the old forester. The 100 proof signature is so phenomenal and fruity pebble'esc that I buy it by the 1L bottle. IMO it's better than the 1924. Spend less get more.

you basically listed all my current go to bottles including 1920/10, RareBreed, KC SBS, and WT101 are currently the some bottles I always have stocked on the shelf. The only other bottle i always try to have that has become harder and harder for me to get is Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof (i know it's tennesse wiskey). When I got into bourbon a year ago that bottle was at every store with a decent selection, now i can't find anywhere.
Agreed. #1 on this list for me would be JD single barrel BP. It drops seemingly only twice a year now and I pick up a new one everytime I find one I dont already have
A. JD is bourbon. B. My understanding is JD is slowly discontinuing the barrel proof. As they make more money off of their santra and premium lines. And can use those bottles for special releases
Recently I've seen pricing on some whiskey sky rocket well above 20% with some disappearing from the shelf. Yes, I do expect to get the Old Forester 1920, Rare Breed, and Russell's Reserve 10, as well as Smoke Wagon to be harder to find, so, I'll stock two extra bottles of each when I get the chance. I'm not experimenting with the new whiskeys coming out, since, the old stuff that I know I like is less available.
It is likely that many of the tried and true brands will never have a shortage, so there will always be plenty of good whiskey to be had at an affordable price.
Just picked up a bottle of the Russelk’s Reserve Single Barrell, they are on close out here, and only have 2 bottles left. I grabbed one for $52, was selling for $75
Absolute nail on the head with Early times. People are already screaming that “the old bottle is better” when Sazerac has confirmed over and over that they are still bottling the the stock barrels that came with the label purchase. One thing I’d clarify is that regular Early Times isnt even bourbon and is pretty much undrinkable trash, it’s the Early Times Bottled in Bond that is the bottom shelf treasure that should be hunted
I already can't find the Bottled in Bond stuff anywhere (Central Florida) But I've kept my eyes open for just a year or so. (Not specifically hunted for it)
@@Pecola1FromScratch Up here in central illinois it’s not a common sight either. Fortunately we’ve been seeing about a case or two hit the area every month, I try to pick up as much as I can when I see it. But they unfortunately don’t last long on my shelf.
Ok. Was having a hard time finding OGD 114 here in KY. I could only find it at one place that sold it for $37. I asked a manager at a Kroger wine&spirits if they could get it. The next week he had a case of it. He doesn't have the shelf space so he keeps the case behind the counter and I just go in asking for the bottle in the white case. Great buy for 24.99.
First time viewer and you know what… instant fan with the kindness extended to strangers there at the end. I found it refreshing. For that reason I hit that button. A negative comment is lazy. It takes effort to forget yourself, and extend a positive remark toward another human being. @@systemtrend3194 they had the 375s of the single barrel and single barrel rye at 15 bucks too. I bought a couple each of those too but the barrel proof was the big score. I went back thenext two days and bought a couple more of the barrel proofs each day. I could have bought 6 or 8 more each day but I felt like I was being a pig and wanted to leave some for others. I went back a few days later and they were sold out. It was some promotional deal the salesman brought in.

Avalaibility really does vary. I can find Weller 12 down the street in my local store for 50 bucks and it's always there. But Wild Turkey 101 i need to drive and check every liquor store in the area and most of the times i can't find a single bottle.

We always discourage our community from going into debt or making a stressful financial decision just to get a bottle on their shelves, so definitely don't purchase it until the price lowers into a range you're comfortable with!
Great video guys! I think your points perhaps fail to take into account the tremendous expansion of the industry. The demand is there, I agree. However, many established distilleries are growing, and many new players are entering the market. Thankfully I'm still seeing OGD 114 for 20 bucks, and OF 1910/1920 bottles still prevalent. Hopefully these don't fade away. I'm just not seeing the demand for those in your top ten that requires anyone to hoard those aforementioned bottles.
Some states get more distribution per capita than others. I have seen it at several stores in in TX lately. I have an open and a bunker, so I have been leaving the ones I see for someone else who doesn't have it yet. Good luck hunting.

I have an update on the knob Creek 12 I found it in Georgia. That was a big search. Thank you for the information. It appears that all I had to do was the look in between three states.
That is good to hear. WT is drastically raising its prices for its LE bottles. This is a move to prevent a Buffalo Trace situation that could lead to shortages.
Gonna use one of my favorite quotes here. "Do not be blinded by fear or anger, all is only as it is". Some whiskey goes, new classics appear. Life goes on. Age isnt everything in whiskey.
@@mikeh7917 I love all three of those brands. For anyone reading this those are all inside of KY. The OP was saying there are good products from outside of KY. I like Ironroot (TX), Frey Ranch (NV), Leiper's Fork (TN), Anita's Choice (SC), and I am sure there are others.

Four roses is my favorite right now... I just purchased all 4 of them... yellow label... small batch... single Barrel... and single barrel select. This is 1 brand that I'm going to get as many bottles as I can!!!
I found Knobb SiB for the first time in about a year while out of town this weekend, bought a few of them! Hearing WT products on your list made my heart sink.. gonna have to stock up!
@@BourbonRealTalk So if my area has Russell's SiB, 10 year, Rare Breed, KY spirit, 1920, Kc Single Barrel, Barrel Reserve, as well as being to find a KC 12 every few months or so. Should I consider myself lucky. I will say rare breed disappears but I can always find it in the town next door. John J single is pretty easy to find. While it's about one a year I can find blantons, and EHT. Eagle rare is super easy to get when it comes around. like every couple months. Should I consider myself lucky? Hunting is cool and all but so many solid reliable bourbons are 4 minutes away I have really become fond of KC expressions.

This is very spot on. At least in my area. OGD 114 disappears as soon as it arrives. Same with Bowman. The OF 1910 to 1920 not yet but some smaller Mom n Pop stores are pricing them like they're allocated. Around $85 each. Early Times BiB has been scooped up to extinction. Knob Creek Rye picks are the only ones available in stores. Four Roses SB Barrel Proofs I have been in 5 years. If they do come in they're now $90 at Total Wine. Sigh. I may just call it a day with my JW Dant BiB and JD Single Barrel Barrel Proofs. This is just getting nuts with Buffalo Trace, Brown Foreman, Heaven Hill.
He left in 2015, and SmB is generally around 6 years, so it is unlikely. Also, Brent was already heavily involved with production the last few years before Jim retired, so I would not expect a noticeably change.
We are just getting Bwnchmark regularly! If WT 101 goes ill legit ugly cry. My go to drinker. Vid idea since your list is currently available AND affordable. Do a "what if" list that would replace these if they did go on allocation.

@Bourbon Real Talk You're both doing a great job. Keep it Real and Honest. Ideas... Maybe: Do more videos where you guys blind taste and score different ECBPs and FRLESBs. Do more videos on Four Gate Products Break down what "Spice" in a Bourbon/Rye could be...so many people use the term to refer to a whisky but that could be anything like jalapeño or cinnamon. Consider setting up a rating scale out of 10 in 0.1 increments where you guys could each score bourbons/ryes. This would be a personal enjoyment score for each of you as opposed to an official web score...hence the audience will get to know what you each like best over time helping inform their purchasing decisions.
It has been a year since this episode. I went down to the local state store to pick up a Russell's Reserve 10yr as a gift for a friend. There was a nice deep row of RR 10yr, RB, Four Roses Single Barrel, etc. Seems your predictions might have been a bit off.
Been searching here in Michigan for KC 12 and I've seen 2 bottles in the last 3 months. 1 for $110 and 1 for $89...I bought the $89 one and looking forward to opening it at the right time

Great list. I started hunting Evan Williams Single Barrel. Managed to find 2 bottles. Sad to see it off the shelves outside of KY. I managed to get a bottle of KB 15 for MSRP, its a great pour but prefer the 12.
Little known place by me in SC seems to have plenty of it. Had 6+ bottles on the shelf of it friday. I just got into bourbon this year and so a blind squirrel finds a nut.
that KC Single barrel is really good. Im lucky. Barrel Nation in MD does a lot of barrel picks for some liquor stores and they constantly go and do barrels picks of the KN Single Barrel
I’m 75 years old and have drank bourbon for years.I’m just now realizing I had no clue as to all the variations of bourbon that’s out there but I’m anxious to learn why I like what I’m drinking.
Go buy some mini bottles of the brands you are unfamiliar with. Then pour .25 ounce of everything you have open and try them side by side in identical glasses. It will really help you figure out what you like and why.

I did not like benchmark. And thought 4 roses small batch was just ok. So I won't miss those. I only have knob9 and liked it. Have been looking to buy wt101, early time bib, and ogd both.
All the benchmarks are not the same, and there are a bunch of them. If you get a chance try the Full Proof or the Bottled In Bond. Those are the two I really like.
Maybe, but if they are correct you are one step ahead of the game. If they are not, then you just have some drinks to share with with friends 🥃. No biggie.
I know its a location problem but I haven't been able to find Russells anywhere in my area for the last couple years. Used to be everywhere now its tough find
The local Russell's rep warned us that they were going to run out in NTX. They started sending her to other areas of the country because there was no product for her to rep.

That would suck for alot of these to be allocated. The OF 1920 and 1910 will really tear me up as these have become 2 of my favorites. RR10 is one I just found and it is really good as well.
Four roses small batch or woodford reserve for daily drinking, luckily FL has no problems with those. Haven’t four roses single barrel yet though, next purchase? I think so

I noticed that a store I have purchased from in Calgary has Leiper's Fork Bourbon, and a different store seems to get E.H.Taylor on a pretty regular basis. I have 3 4 roses at my local store- Single Barrel, Small batch select, and small batch. which of these will be gone first? And do you recommend Bowman Brothers to be closest to Blanton or John J Bowman is closer? Thank you!
I suspect if there were a shortage it would be with the SBS, but that is just speculation on my part. I recommend Bowman and JJB to people looking for Blanton's because the base distillate is the same, but I do not think they taste similar. I suspect this is due the the additional distillation and the difference in aging environment. It gives people joy who can not find Blanton's to feel like they are drinking an alternative, but for those of us familiar with the flavor I do not think either are all that similar.
It's funny how regional these can be. And no, I'm talking trash to your video, because I agree. In fact, I'd say these are already at the point you predict in some places. In Denver metro, I've never seen Weller SR, OF 1910 and 1920 will disappear from shelves for a couple of months at a time, JJB I've seen once (at about $100). The hype is already there for all of those and it's a constant game trying to track down some of these bottles that are still pretty easy to find further east/south.
Hey Man, loving the page so far you were actually the first yt channel i stumbled across and man do i NOT regret it, every other channel i see is OK can get a bit cringey but then the whole sell out with oh try this whiskey it’s simply the best when it’s actual dog shit, but what I’m trying to say is stay true! If a sponsorship comes by i hope they let you review it honestly and truthfully it’s possible they will honor that just depends how you negotiate/ agents are, and hope you make daily videos or atelast 2/3 times a week i would definitely appreciate it even if it’s for noobish videos like ‘ will whiskey continue to age in glass bottle after years ‘ or how long can whiskey taste the same in bottle etc etc
That is the plan. If we allow sponsors I think it would be non whiskey products. I try to make the content I would have wanted when I was learning and kind of follow my own style. Then, I hope the people that enjoy that find it. Cheers!
@@BourbonRealTalk it’s possible though to give a negative review if the product is not good, a channel that does this in example is Linus Tech Tips is the king of tech review because even if it’s sponsored he’ll say their flaws and if he recommends it and he wouldn’t care if they don’t want to sponsor either so hope that helps incase if you did want whiskey sponsors but regardless any route you take I’ll be there!
Most of the bourbon you mentioned I keep stocked at least 2-3 deep. Especially the Rare breed and OGD114. Can you possibly see Woodinville becoming allocated or at least harder to find? It seems to me that people keep raving about it in videos, and even at the liquor store I’ve heard one or two talk about it randomly.
Woodenville is managing their expansion based on inventory. If they started to pick up in sales with their current states of distribution, I would imaging they would slow down on opening new markets. Anything is possible.
@@williambedard4375 If Woodenville tastes bad to you, you may not like bourbon. While their average expression is not "world class" like a GTS or WLW, it is a solid well product product. Maybe scotch or some other spirit is your jam?

Scored my first ever Blantons yesterday for 65. Haven't been trying to get 1 for only a couple of yrs. You just never see them in my area. SW Mississippi. I hope your wrong about the WT lines my favs.

I think WT101 is a stretch. Since it is non age stated they would probably just lower the age of the barrels going into the batches.

Yes, I do expect to get the Old Forester 1920, Rare Breed, and Russell's Reserve 10, as well as Smoke Wagon to be harder to find, so, I'll stock two extra bottles of each when I get the chance. I'm not experimenting with the new whiskeys coming out, since, the old stuff that I know I like is less available.
It is likely that many of the tried and true brands will never have a shortage, so there will always be plenty of good whiskey to be had at an affordable price.

Just picked up a bottle of the Russelk’s Reserve Single Barrell, they are on close out here, and only have 2 bottles left. I grabbed one for $52, was selling for $75

Absolute nail on the head with Early times. People are already screaming that “the old bottle is better” when Sazerac has confirmed over and over that they are still bottling the the stock barrels that came with the label purchase. One thing I’d clarify is that regular Early Times isnt even bourbon and is pretty much undrinkable trash, it’s the Early Times Bottled in Bond that is the bottom shelf treasure that should be hunted
I already can't find the Bottled in Bond stuff anywhere (Central Florida) But I've kept my eyes open for just a year or so. (Not specifically hunted for it)

Ok. Was having a hard time finding OGD 114 here in KY. I could only find it at one place that sold it for $37. I asked a manager at a Kroger wine&spirits if they could get it. The next week he had a case of it. He doesn't have the shelf space so he keeps the case behind the counter and I just go in asking for the bottle in the white case. Great buy for 24.99.

Woodford Double Oaked should be on this list. Delicious and not too spendy. Better than many allocated bourbons but always on the shelf!
It got a lot of votes, but it is not a traditional bourbon since it is toasted barrel finished, so it didn't make the list.

I went back thenext two days and bought a couple more of the barrel proofs each day. I could have bought 6 or 8 more each day but I felt like I was being a pig and wanted to leave some for others. I went back a few days later and they were sold out. It was some promotional deal the salesman brought in.

I can find Weller 12 down the street in my local store for 50 bucks and it's always there.
But Wild Turkey 101 i need to drive and check every liquor store in the area and most of the times i can't find a single bottle.

We always discourage our community from going into debt or making a stressful financial decision just to get a bottle on their shelves, so definitely don't purchase it until the price lowers into a range you're comfortable with!

Great video guys! I think your points perhaps fail to take into account the tremendous expansion of the industry. The demand is there, I agree. However, many established distilleries are growing, and many new players are entering the market. Thankfully I'm still seeing OGD 114 for 20 bucks, and OF 1910/1920 bottles still prevalent. Hopefully these don't fade away. I'm just not seeing the demand for those in your top ten that requires anyone to hoard those aforementioned bottles.

Some states get more distribution per capita than others. I have seen it at several stores in in TX lately. I have an open and a bunker, so I have been leaving the ones I see for someone else who doesn't have it yet. Good luck hunting.

Here in Indiana you can pretty much pick up any WT. At any liquor store.
That is good to hear. WT is drastically raising its prices for its LE bottles. This is a move to prevent a Buffalo Trace situation that could lead to shortages.

Weller SR is money, when you can find it, at the retail price. I love it blended with the OGD114 to make a very nice 4 grain (2:1).

Russell's SiB has been impossible to find in my area for over a year.WT101 they would likely just use younger barrels since it is non age stated.

Should I consider myself lucky. I will say rare breed disappears but I can always find it in the town next door. John J single is pretty easy to find. While it's about one a year I can find blantons, and EHT. Eagle rare is super easy to get when it comes around. like every couple months. Should I consider myself lucky? Hunting is cool and all but so many solid reliable bourbons are 4 minutes away I have really become fond of KC expressions.

This is very spot on. At least in my area. OGD 114 disappears as soon as it arrives. Same with Bowman. The OF 1910 to 1920 not yet but some smaller Mom n Pop stores are pricing them like they're allocated. Around $85 each. Early Times BiB has been scooped up to extinction. Knob Creek Rye picks are the only ones available in stores. Four Roses SB Barrel Proofs I have been in 5 years. If they do come in they're now $90 at Total Wine. Sigh. I may just call it a day with my JW Dant BiB and JD Single Barrel Barrel Proofs. This is just getting nuts with Buffalo Trace, Brown Foreman, Heaven Hill.

Is the current four roses single barrel still using Jim Rutledge bourbon
He left in 2015, and SmB is generally around 6 years, so it is unlikely. Also, Brent was already heavily involved with production the last few years before Jim retired, so I would not expect a noticeably change.
We are just getting Bwnchmark regularly! If WT 101 goes ill legit ugly cry. My go to drinker.

Break down what "Spice" in a Bourbon/Rye could be...so many people use the term to refer to a whisky but that could be anything like jalapeño or cinnamon.
Consider setting up a rating scale out of 10 in 0.1 increments where you guys could each score bourbons/ryes. This would be a personal enjoyment score for each of you as opposed to an official web score...hence the audience will get to know what you each like best over time helping inform their purchasing decisions.
It has been a year since this episode. I went down to the local state store to pick up a Russell's Reserve 10yr as a gift for a friend. There was a nice deep row of RR 10yr, RB, Four Roses Single Barrel, etc. Seems your predictions might have been a bit off.

Been searching here in Michigan for KC 12 and I've seen 2 bottles in the last 3 months. 1 for $110 and 1 for $89...I bought the $89 one and looking forward to opening it at the right time

I have seen it a few times at big stores in GR, but it's just luck. It disappears the day it comes! Personally, I actually prefer the KC 9yr 120proof

Great list. I started hunting Evan Williams Single Barrel. Managed to find 2 bottles. Sad to see it off the shelves outside of KY. I managed to get a bottle of KB 15 for MSRP, its a great pour but prefer the 12.

Little known place by me in SC seems to have plenty of it. Had 6+ bottles on the shelf of it friday. I just got into bourbon this year and so a blind squirrel finds a nut.
Love the 1920, the 1910 not so much. Mix the two for a 1915, won’t replace the 1910 bottle though.

that KC Single barrel is really good. Im lucky. Barrel Nation in MD does a lot of barrel picks for some liquor stores and they constantly go and do barrels picks of the KN Single Barrel

I’m 75 years old and have drank bourbon for years.I’m just now realizing I had no clue as to all the variations of bourbon that’s out there but I’m anxious to learn why I like what I’m drinking.
Go buy some mini bottles of the brands you are unfamiliar with. Then pour .25 ounce of everything you have open and try them side by side in identical glasses. It will really help you figure out what you like and why.

I did not like benchmark. And thought 4 roses small batch was just ok. So I won't miss those. I only have knob9 and liked it. Have been looking to buy wt101, early time bib, and ogd both.
All the benchmarks are not the same, and there are a bunch of them. If you get a chance try the Full Proof or the Bottled In Bond. Those are the two I really like.

In Virginia even a regular bottle of BT is allocated. If you’re lucky to find one in your local ABC, you can only buy one a day.

Yes, but because the formula will change and people will want bottles of the old stuff they are used to.
That would suck for alot of these to be allocated. The OF 1920 and 1910 will really tear me up as these have become 2 of my favorites. RR10 is one I just found and it is really good as well.
We share our guesses as to why they could become hard to find. We will not be correct on them all.
Four roses small batch or woodford reserve for daily drinking, luckily FL has no problems with those. Haven’t four roses single barrel yet though, next purchase? I think so

I've noticed Kentucky Spirit and Russell's Single Barrel becoming rare. And John J Bowman is already allocated in Alabama.
JBJ is nearly impossible to find in MT
KS and Russell's SiB are also rare in TX. Bowman SmB is easy to fine, but John J Bowman is hard to find here too.
So glad I live in Virginia and we can find John J Bowman pretty easily

I noticed that a store I have purchased from in Calgary has Leiper's Fork Bourbon, and a different store seems to get E.H.Taylor on a pretty regular basis. I have seen Wild Turkey Rare Breed in a couple of stores for a pretty reasonable price, perhaps next payday I'll pick up a couple of bottles! Take care Guys!! - Dave

I suspect if there were a shortage it would be with the SBS, but that is just speculation on my part. I recommend Bowman and JJB to people looking for Blanton's because the base distillate is the same, but I do not think they taste similar. I suspect this is due the the additional distillation and the difference in aging environment. It gives people joy who can not find Blanton's to feel like they are drinking an alternative, but for those of us familiar with the flavor I do not think either are all that similar.
It's funny how regional these can be. And no, I'm talking trash to your video, because I agree. In fact, I'd say these are already at the point you predict in some places. In Denver metro, I've never seen Weller SR, OF 1910 and 1920 will disappear from shelves for a couple of months at a time, JJB I've seen once (at about $100). The hype is already there for all of those and it's a constant game trying to track down some of these bottles that are still pretty easy to find further east/south.

Hey Man, loving the page so far you were actually the first yt channel i stumbled across and man do i NOT regret it, every other channel i see is OK can get a bit cringey but then the whole sell out with oh try this whiskey it’s simply the best when it’s actual dog shit, but what I’m trying to say is stay true! If a sponsorship comes by i hope they let you review it honestly and truthfully it’s possible they will honor that just depends how you negotiate/ agents are, and hope you make daily videos or atelast 2/3 times a week i would definitely appreciate it even if it’s for noobish videos like ‘ will whiskey continue to age in glass bottle after years ‘ or how long can whiskey taste the same in bottle etc etc
That is the plan. If we allow sponsors I think it would be non whiskey products. I try to make the content I would have wanted when I was learning and kind of follow my own style. Then, I hope the people that enjoy that find it. Cheers!

When I first started collecting I saw 1792 everywhere, now I NEVER see 1792 Full Proof or Bottled in Bond out anymore in my area.

Most of the bourbon you mentioned I keep stocked at least 2-3 deep. Especially the Rare breed and OGD114. Can you possibly see Woodinville becoming allocated or at least harder to find? It seems to me that people keep raving about it in videos, and even at the liquor store I’ve heard one or two talk about it randomly.
Woodenville is managing their expansion based on inventory. If they started to pick up in sales with their current states of distribution, I would imaging they would slow down on opening new markets. Anything is possible.
That whisky is junk it wont go anywhere anytime soon.
@@williambedard4375 If Woodenville tastes bad to you, you may not like bourbon. While their average expression is not "world class" like a GTS or WLW, it is a solid well product product. Maybe scotch or some other spirit is your jam?
