      For me, it was all about pre planning and keeping it simple. Timing, planned menu, having everything you need on hand. The quality of what I ate and timing of it made a huge difference. I never went 24 hours without eating. You have to get creative yet disciplined. It's quite an experience. You can do this.

    I did it. 23 yrs DT2.
    Pills, final straw was overnight insulin.
    Intermittent fasting including steaks, eggs !
    Went from 7.2 A1C to 5.3.
    Maintained now at 5.3 for over 3 years now. Zero DT2 meds.
    I didn't ask my Dr, I told him what I was going to do. Had blood drawn every 3 months per his request. If old lazy me can do it, anybody can do it. My Dr was very supportive.

      But if you ate a potato you’d see nothing is reversed because all that saturated fat is still blocking insulin from carrying glucose from your blood and into your cells. I switched from low carb to low fat, plant based and now I can eat a potato and have normal blood glucose after 2 hours. Before it would be 200+.

    Just wanna add a comment I’ve followed Jason Fong for a long time. I found one of his books on Amazon. I was type two diabetic. I lost a good pain job because I was a driver and I could not go onto the next phase of the job, I discovered I had diabetes, found his book follow the steps took me 90 days to control my diabetes. I went from A1c to 15 and I learned fast for seven days and I went to 5.27 days. Take me 90 days to get to where I could fast for seven days you don’t try and fast, very long at a time when you’re starting and your body is getting used to it. I’ve been within range for about four years now take action find one of his books even has recipe on what you can eat or drink during a fast. It’s well worth it. It changed my life.

      @@curtislavoie2242insulin resistance is caused by fat accumulation in muscle cells, which normally only have very tiny amounts of lipids. Diets high in saturated fat cause this, and also cause things like clogged arteries (which can lead to heart disease and even dementia), fatty liver disease, and visceral fat (fat buildup around organs). This can lead to heart arrhythmia. I have one (PVCs) and once I went low fat, plant based, the symptoms began clearing up along with my insulin resistance.

    My 57 years old mother has T2D and can't go even a few hours without food or her body starts hurting. She is scared of her blood sugar dropping even to 100. How can she possibly consider fasting 24 hours when she can't even do a 14 hour fast everyday? I'm genuinely looking for information in the regard and can't seem to get a clear answer anywhere. Does she simply need to get used to the feeling of hunger and the pain is non-lethal, or is she too far gone to ever consider bringing her health back on track?

    • @Mrahsanshaikh

      Just a thought, when I used to do intermittent fasts, I’d take a table spoon of coconut oil in the AM to keep my stomach from going crazy. Also, she can have liquid, so maybe teas with Splenda or just water. Lastly, I would shoot for a 24hr fast until about 3-4 weeks after the baby steps. She could eat the last meal at night 0800 and not eat again til noon the next day, that should get her to 16hrs. Best to your mom!

      Im 63 and have been doing intermittent fasting for almost 4 weeks. I've lost 6 lbs. Weight is 154. My last meal including fat and protein is no later than 4, preferably 3pm. My next meal is 9- 9:30 am. I'm doing 17/7.
      Have her try a 12 hour fast then 13 and increase by an hour each day to 16/8. No snacking at all after
      dinner. No snacking after first meal until dinner. If she can't make it between main meals do a light lunch.
      You get a hunger pain or 2 but it goes away in minutes. Then the body eats the fat and gives you energy.
      Give up all sugar and grains. Sweeteners will make you crave sugar, don't use those for at least a month.
      I don't drink sodas, tea or coffee. I don't like tea and coffee 😅. Only water. Eat nutrition to feed the body. Look at healthy meals, what goes into her body.
      I'm not diabetic but think I'm getting a couple of symptoms. Yesterday I ate 3 homemade muffins ( hadn't made them in several months, they are lower sugar ) and my legs tingled the rest of the day. I ate one today and they tingled again. No more I'm going for meat, dairy, salads etc
      The symptoms will motivate you to eat healthy. After I lose another 20-25 lbs I will eat lunch.
      No sugar, no grains, no processed foods, no seed oils. Cook from scratch.
      Hope this helps. 😊

    You can do the same by eating a very low fat, plant based diet. And you don’t have to starve yourself in the process. I did it. Before, I could eat a small potato and have 200+ blood glucose after 2 hours. Now I can eat a huge one and it will be under 130 and often under 100.
    I’m not saying you shouldn’t fast. Fasting is fine and can be good for the body. Just saying it’s not necessary if you’re not comfortable fasting.

  • @michaelcariello6233

    Fung here does not clarify whether administration of insulin makes you fat because it causes you to eat more or the insulin itself makes you fat without consuming more food than usual. This is a critical point that needs to be made so everyone can have the full picture. Otherwise it leaves the door open for critics of CIM of obesity.

    • @maricamaas2326
      @maricamaas2326 8 месяцев назад +6

      He explained clearly how Insulin inhibits Lipolysis/(fat burning) - from 3:20. When food is frequently coming in, Insulin remains high; which makes sense, since the body does not need to burn it's own fat for energy, it's instead holding on to bodyfat for future possible usage.
      The amount of food ingested is not as important. To eat less often, with longer periods of fasting between meals, allows Insulin to drop sufficiently. This encourages fat burning, while inhibiting fat storage.

    • @Jess-on-the-Tube
      @Jess-on-the-Tube 4 месяца назад

      He did more or less explain it here, but hopefully by now you've seen some of his more in-depth material that makes it crystal clear. It is the insulin itself. The previous commenter gave an indication of the mechanism, but, yes, it will make you fat (by sending energy to fat storage) whether you eat more or not. You will WANT to eat more, because the body will still try to fuel your daily activity - if it is putting away more energy in storage, you will need more coming in to keep up your normal energy levels. BUT, if you force yourself NOT to consume more than usual, you will still get fat - but also be cold, tired and low energy. Elsewhere Fung references an experiment where subjects were given insulin, ate LESS calories than usual (a forced calorie restriction diet) and yet they still GAINED significant fat.
