Also got EDS x2, ADHD, PTSD, EUPD, HCM, OCD etc. with the rest of the alphabet Google medical acronyms, it will help, oh, and that was before I medically died (coughed my spleen up in Aberdeen royal infirmary and bled to death).

Similar situation here. Repeated injuries to back and neck 20 yrs ago, but never got to see a dr. Now I'm losing sensation and function in my legs, arms, and hands. I thought the PTSD was the worst price I'd have to pay, but maybe not. Long story short, I can empathize. ❤ I'll be cranking this one up and singing along loudly.

Me too, fell off a ladder in 2007 and have never been the same. Vanderbilt said I wasn't a surgery candidate because it is t6-t7. So, it's the pills and false promises from products that don't work.

As a registered nurse I’ve put my faith in the medical community. But now it’s been two years and they’ve still not been able to diagnose me. For days on end, my limbs don’t move how I want them to. I become spastic and unable to walk. I’m losing my faith because I keep being told it’s all in my head; that it’s anxiety. But I know something is wrong. It’s the doctors that are sowing doubt in myself. Making me doubt my mind and that is all I have right now. It’s more debilitating than inability to control my limbs. The medical system is broken and needs fixing. But in the meantime I’ll get my fix’n with Ren

We need to remember that most of the songs on this album were written 2 years ago before he even knew about his present treatment . We get to see him rise from this point because it seems, this was a true low. Ren makes beauty out of the ugliness of despair.

Hey BP, Ren dropped a hint about his next album on Twitch today. He said he was in a dark place when writing Sick Boi, but he is now in the next stage - recovery. So his writing is based on this new stage and to expect a completely different album. More guitar and singing, basically going back to what he enjoys most. As usual, great reaction.

At first I thought the biblical reference was Zachariah 13:7 but it seems your right on psalm 23 well spotted ✌🏻❤️
This rensonates with what I feel Ren has stoically been through and where it is leading him - his life purpose I feel:
i. Philip Keller (in A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23) writes that sheep do not lie down easily and will not unless four conditions are met. Because they are timid, they will not lie down if they are afraid. Because they are social animals, they will not lie down if there is friction among the sheep. If flies or parasites trouble them, they will not lie down. Finally, if sheep are anxious about food or hungry, they will not lie down. Rest comes because the shepherd has dealt with fear, friction, flies, and famine.

I agree that this song is really unique for him, but familiar at the same time? Parts of this *sort of* brings to mind his Children of the Moon (crazygreatvideo), and (to me) he used a melody reference ("I don't ever seem to feel well") to Sick Boi ("...is like the ending of a bad joke").
I like when Ren self-references across his various genre/styles. It's his artist's brush stroke.

As for your reaction, I felt a lot if the same things regarding the song except for one part, it seems to me like he called out to God so many times, begging for help, begging for relief, and it never came. I get from this song that he lost all faith in himself, and his only hope is that the medication would eventually help; “Only refuge is in patience and pills”. When you lose faith in something external, most just turn away from it. When you lose faith in yourself you tend to turn away from life. And that's were "Masochist" comes in... killing all attachments in your life. It's a very dark place to exist.
(Wanted to add: In this song is an allusion to "Masochist" with the lyric, "Pain is my Sheppard, my sword and my shield". Loving the connections.)

Yes, one of my recent favorites for sure! Ren never disappoints. The soaring chorus vocals pulled at my heart right away. I was watching the premiere when I first heard it, and couldn't even type correctly in the chat because I was so stoked with the song.

Love what you're doing to bump Ren's album up - even not wanting donations as this is Your personal PIF💞. This may be different to all other Ren's work and yet its such a melting pot of nearly everything that is "hallmark" Ren - I'd even go to say this is the most Ren-like track of Ren's multi-genre body of work. Certainly instantly recognisable as a Ren piece. The initial sample is my favorite part of the Twitch stream waiting themetune - I had thought it was Twitch's sound but now wonder if its Ren's own. Chorus is Bond-esque rousing balad, I love the crescendo feel.
I absolutely agree with you at 29:00 ish - that Ren Knows deep down he's here for a Purpose and whilst he has his naughty, sometimes dark human side, and whilst his self-depracating mocking side tries to shut it down "your f'in God complex leaks out of you" he actually makes many references to being here to help defeat the forces of evil (to me embody Darkness, low vibration, greed, selfishness etc), to raise his tattered wings & knocking back on the sky as he's ready, to being "The One", to be remembered in the songs he leaves behind and the messages they bring, the open discussions he's created in a world of embarrassment & shame for not being perfect or being flawed, the connection & Unity he's created etc etc by shining His Light (like a Warrior of Light) on the darkness both within us all And the external world, thus raising our vibration for a better world (although you said it more succinctly 😆). Google "Nigella Lawson". She's a foodie. That's where the mozzarella comes in. 😂 I think you're so right about our connection to music lies in our personal interpretation of it. It's not just about figuring out what Ren is trying to express, but feeling it where we need to feel it. That's an important thing to remember in these reaction videos and I'm glad you've come to that conclusion and expressed it here. I remember Joni Mitchell saying that if my song only makes you think about me, it has failed. There are universal truths in great songs that we connect with as individuals and relate them to our own lives. Sure, Ren is telling his story and that's an important part of his art - but we connect to it by relating to it as fellow human beings with our own challenges, great and small.
