I had the same problem as the guy below in my 08, no light unless I turned left, it would blink. Tried your trick and it's back to normal. Thank you so much, you're a life saver.
Thank God for youtube! Thank you so much buddy, I was so scared I was going to cost me $1,000 to get a new transmission. My truck has been hesitating going forward and backwards for days. I just went out there and unstuck my four-wheel drive, unwittingly I had no idea it was obviously stuck. Thank you so much! Yes indeedy I will subscribe 😁
cheers it worked ... I had a problem with changing 1 to 2 . thanks so much for that
Thank you very much because I got my alternator replaced and the same day after driving it about an hour and a half my jeep got stuck in drive. It wouldn’t move so I had it towed to Bumper to Bumper. The same mechanic that changed my alternator said that my transmission went out!I am not a mechanic but I know good well that my jeep transmission did not go out!I had no issues with my transmission!I did your trick and I haven’t had an issue with my jeep now!You are great, very smart and I Thank you again so much!
Well thank you thank you so so much I greatly appreciate it and I’m glad it worked out for you very much!!!!
Welcome to the channel we’re very very happy to have folks like you hopefully some of the other videos will inform you and entertain you at the same time.
Dude. Holy crap. Was stuck in 4 Low flashing and the traction light in. Tried this and it worked. Guess I got lucky. Finally an easy fix on this Jeep Liberty kk , which is one problem after another! Thanks for the info!
Thank You Thank You Thank You! This just made my entire day! All fixed.
And mine as well with your comment
been having that weird problem but with no lights on dash, will try this and see how it does. thanks bunches:)
Thank you sirr for saving all of us💯👍🏾😘
Thank you because it just helped me. 🤙
I had this problem!! It worked with my 2015 cherokee thank you so much!!!!
Well, thank you very much for sharing!! it’s good to know what the stuff works on
Thank you so much!!
Hi! I tried it, it actually worked on my 2007 Jeep Library manual shift 4x4. I had shifting issues every once in a while. I thought it was a bad trans solenoid. Thank you for this great video!
You’re very welcome Ramen I greatly appreciate you taking the time to write the message and I welcome you to the channel sometimes they’re hidden mess but I always give it a go!!
It worked! Thank you🙏🏽
Thank you man
This works on my 2005 Jeep Liberty.
Thanks for this video!! My 2008 Liberty started doing this this afternoon; second gear start, no upshift, no manual first. One difference is I got NO warning light on the dash. I tried your fix - what can it hurt? - and like magic it's back to normal. Weird. Saved me a trip to the shop, terrific!
That’s awesome I appreciate the story very much I’m glad it helped you.
I wish I knew why they did that. Like I said in the video it happened to me but never happen again I’ll bet it has something to do with the fuse box. Replaced quite a few of them on these vehicles but not for this problem. So the next time I have one I’m going to replace it and see what happens
@@sharpcarco you tube keeps blocking the video for some reason but can you tell what fix you did? Please.and thank you
Hi Clay! Stumbled on this video and going to give it a try. Current issue I’m having (well Jeep related at least!) is I had a transmission flush done per mechanic recommendation even though I was having no issues (it was there for an oil change). After the work was done, jeep would buck when accelerating. Took it back to same shop via tow truck since it didn’t feel safe to drive, mechanic said they “forgot” to make some sort of transmission adjustment. Obviously I was not happy. Now, the Jeep bucks when driving in the morning, even after warming up (I live in NJ so weather has been very hot). On way home, as long as I accelerate gently, seems to run alright. So the mornings put me into a pool of anxiety because I don’t want to be bucking or revving without moving in rush hour traffic. Another mechanic (who has a tire shop but does not do transmissions there) suggested Dr Tranny instant shudder fix. Wondering if you think that may help. Thanks in advance.
Well I can’t guarantee that will fix your problem …… doesn’t sound like you have the type of problem that I was expressing but it’s possible and it doesn’t hurt to try it I have had it fix many shuttering problems in transmissions though sometimes it doesn’t work but for the most part my experience has Been very good.
Clay, I tried it and drove to get gas, so far so good. All I can do is see how it is in the morning but thank you for posting this fix as an option. I’m very appreciative for your insight and very fast reply. Have a great one!
Your welcome, welcome to the channel, I do post a lot about jeeps and since they mostly the same under the body you find most of video’s on them very helpful
dang, I live in GR
and I want to do it🤘
Hey clay I watched your video "my Jeep won't shift out of park" in it you showed a white plastic lever ( accessible thru the pop out on passenger side) if you move the lever it allows the transmission to shift into drive & reverse . Can you tell me what is the name of that part is? And/Or a part # . I really appreciate your videos they are very easy to understand and have helped me on many occasions. I will be letting Lanny know that I would only buy and engine from his shop due to you and your extremely helpful videos. He should know that it is great P.R. for his company . Everyone knows when you find a good honest mechanic that you can trust You'll never use anyone else ! Thank you in advance
Tracy Hazlewood
Hello Tracy I really really appreciate the kind words unfortunately I don’t know the answer your question for the part number.
I get about 100 questions a day and I would love to be able to go back and look at the videos to remind myself “unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to answer everyone so I’m very very sorry
I have a 2006 4.7. The eeturn transmission line came off lost all fluid replaced and filled and when i shift. All the happens is a idle load of 500. From 6000. Was wondering if just shift selinoid. Or. Is my transmission just toast.
Question ,I have a jeep liberty 2007 and I was at the lights and stop ,the motor was running but I couldn't go forward or backwards and the oil light came out ,,could that be the transmission?
Anyone know what mode the 4wd needs to start in? Is it 4 lo and then switched to 2 hi after it gets turned on?
Hey there! I'm a fellow michigander and I have an 05 jeep that seems to be shifting funny in 2 nd gear it feels funny any ideas?
I have a 2008 jeep patriotwill this work
how about p0750 code check engine is on is it work with that my car is Jeep liberty kk 2011
Ya saved me
I have a question if you or anyone can help. My 2006 Jeep Commander runs good there would be no lights indicating something is wrong, but after driving for at least 10-15 minutes I would stop somewhere then put it in park and turn off the engine. Then as soon as I turn it back on within 30 seconds and put it in drive it doesn't go to drive it goes straight to 3rd gear and stays there. It would then indicate the check engine light and say "Transmission over temp" and "check gauges".
I have the same problem only when I try and turn it back on right away after turning it off. If I let it sit an hour or so it doesn't do that. Help please!!!!
How would I fix check engine light so it’s off an what about if the code transmission says gear 4 incorrect ratio
Well first off I would probably clear that code and see if it returns. I can’t say that I’ve seen that particular situation that I can remember but I do a lot of different things so it’s very possible I have never put a transmission in one of these so I would think it’s fairly rare for them to go out. I’m not exactly certain Why it throws these weird codes. But because I’ve seen weird codes that I’ve cleared and never came back I assume it’s kind of a glitchy system I wish I could be of more help
I have an ‘11 but it’s not 4wd.. it’s rpms are accelerating and staying there after about 40mph or more. >.< I had it sit for the entire COVID year and now I got this and no cold a/c issues
Something sticky from you not running it.....
Jst recently crashed my vehical and now my esp light goes on and off but recently noticed at times my truck will start accelerating without actuallyoving but cant be tranny because my check ingine light not on. I seriously think has something to do with the esp but not sure.
Man Jose I wouldn’t even know where to begin without actually looking at it I’m really sorry I wish I could be of some help with that situation
Dude thank you so much
So what is it’s the AWD transmission? I’m about to purchase one that accelerates fine but won’t shift out of second. Reverse and park are fine. Is it just a sensor or a relay or?
Well, I’m not a transmission expert but I would first start with replacing the solenoid body. If you take it to a transmission shop they’re gonna want to rebuild the whole transmission and in that situation you would be better off getting a used transmission but normally these transmissions only need the solenoid body replaced. You could also possibly wiggle the wires and see if the electrical connector that goes into the transmission is bad, but like I said, I’m not a transmission expert.
I just purchased a 2002 Liberty. And it comes to me with no speedometer or Odometer. I purchased the speed sensor for the transition. But can not locate it on the transition. Is there any way to point it out?
I wish I could tell you where it is, i’m a little bit surprised that it has one most of the time when these vehicles have four-wheel ABS they don’t have one. But I’m not for certain I do not know everything about every vehicle. More than likely though if it does have one it’s on the tail shaft of the transmission. That’s where they’re most commonly placed or they’re on the rear differential usually at the top. It’s been my experience when the speedometer doesn’t work in these either it’s defective or it’s a wheel speed sensor.
I tried this despite not having the traction control light on because the jeep was stuck in 2nd gear. It worked but went back to not shifting the next time i started the vehicle. I'm still trying to diagnose this issue.
did you ever figure the issue out?
@@KCClark-wu3jx Honestly, I don't remember. I think we took it back to auction.
Help, I’ve got this same car and the engine light is on, but mine is the 2 Wheel drive
My current situation. What did you do to fix this please and thanks!
OK, just swamped my motor from a 04 to a 05, mo issues. Swaped the transmissions same year 04 to 05. No it won't shift out of low gear Ideals, I didn't change anything else, just motor and transmission.
Well I’m sorry that that’s happening to you Randall. I would have to assume that there’s something wrong with the transmission.
Does your engine have enough power is your engine running correctly this will cause transmission shift problems if it’s not
@@sharpcarco yep, motor is 3.7l Runs great, i have replaced the plugs, coil packs, ran fine in my 05 liberty. I called the dealership, and being how its not shifting like it should, and the transmission is out of a 05 liberty and not a 04. the PCM is not programmed for a 05 transmission ..
Hmm i’m very suspicious of that.
So why don’t you instead of taking it to the dealership give this a try.
Take the battery cables off of the battery use a pair of ice grips or wire or something and tie the two ends of the battery cables together where the metal parts are touching
Leave it that way for about five or six hours this will clear all of the old data inside the computers.
This will deplete the batteries memory and erase everything stored inside the Ecm‘s
Every computer inside your car has a watch battery inside it for data memory.
If that is correct and it needs to be re-flashed this will clear out all of its memory then take the vehicle out and try to manually shift it through the gears and after about five ignition cycles driving it for about 3 to 4 minutes at a time it should start to relearn on its own and not cost you anything.
Chryslers are notorious for that so that is a good possibility that it’s just has memory from the old Transmission but I don’t think it’s necessary to take it down to the dealership
My car's doing this now but it's not a 4 wheel drive. Will this work for my car too??
Well it doesn’t cost anything to give it a try so I can’t imagine that it would Hurt anything and I don’t know that it had much to do with it being four-wheel-drive. Give it a try we’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope that it works for you let us know
@@sharpcarco thank you!!
I have a jeep grand Cherokee without the 4wd switch
I had the transmission 42 rle rebuilt on a 2004 jeep liberty and recently showed code P0704 (trans out of range)? any ideas?
The shift control board usually goes out of these. It’s on the valve body in the transmission but I’m not a transmission technician so I can’t be for certain. They also have problems with the electrical connector as well.
@@sharpcarco Do you have pictures? As I am on SSI and fix problems myself, thanx for any help
@@sharpcarco This is not the shift solenoid? As the shop replaced it along with tranny rebuild!
Hey clay, would this work on a 2007 as well?
I don’t remember what year I was working on but I would have to assume so since the 2002 to 2009 should be the same if not 2010
@@sharpcarco thanks man!
I can't turn car back off in neutral 2015 jeep cherokee
Mine did this today in 3 degree weather, put it in reverse, backed out my driveway, then went to put it in drive and it glides over everything, all I could do was reverse. Couldn’t put it in park or anything. So I turned the Jeep off because I couldn’t move technically. Reverse parked it on the side of the road. Went to go start it like 10 minutes later and now it won’t start at all. I really want to try this because I recently used 4-wheel drive and that makes sense, but I have no idea why it wouldn’t even be turning over now…
Sorry to hear that Nick the reason it won’t turn over is because you’re unable to get it in park the neutral safety switch is not allowing it to Turn over because it’s in gear sounds like you have a linkage problem. You need to hook the linkage and shift it manually
This exact thing just happened to me this morning. Such a bummer! Stuck in reverse also
I have Jeep Liberty 2003 sport 3.7 and when I drive it to 40mph it doesn’t give the changes please help
Sorry to take so long to get back with you unfortunately I would have that checked out at the transmission shop it doesn’t sound like a good thing wished I had better news
Clay Rogers yeah the transmission is done for thanks , due to not changing the oil and since my Jeep is 4x4 it messed it up bad .. yeah sucks
@@sharpcarco i have an 03 sport i changed both speed sensors still wont shift out of second is there a way to drive get rpms up then shift from second to drive to fix this
Well a high-level scanner can shift it through gears, if it’s not shifting from one gear to the next it’s possible that you have a solenoid problem on the inside of the transmission ,on the inside The transmission they have a unit called the transmission control unit that bolts to the valve body inside the transmission. These transmissions generally don’t go bad so even at recycling/ junkyards they are fairly inexpensive. 3 to 400 for a used one, but you can buy the transmission control board cheaper and as long as you don’t find a bunch of transmission material in the pan more than likely the control unit is the problem( I am not speaking about a computer ) I am talking about the unit that has the solenoids and wiring inside it.
I have a problem with my 2007 Jeep Commander that does the Same thing from time to time will not shift out of first gear but sometimes I can shut the car off and restart it and it will shift properly until the next time it doesn’t so I will be making video on it in the future when the problem is not correct itself like it is right now I just don’t have time
I have a 04 Jeep Liberty and it seemed like it's stuck in whatever gear it whining but it's changing gears but it's either seem like it's stuck in low and changing gears with no lights can anybody help me or would you think this would work in my situation? But I'm going to try anyhow LOL
Hey did it work for you ?
geand cherokee 2006 crd
My 2004 jeep liberty keeps going into limp mode. I turn the car off and it comes out of li.p mode. Any idea to what it could be
I have some ideas but I don’t want to steer you in the wrong direction because they would be complicated to state over a text message I’ve never had one going to limp mode more than once or twice so I haven’t tackled that problem but I would assume it goes into limp mode because of the valve body but I can’t be for certain wish I could be of more help
I have the same issue! Mine is a 2006 v6. Everything is fine so long as I don’t rev past 3000 rpms. I can go 80mph fine, doesn’t take too long. But god forbid I want to get into a lane and accelerate - it bucks, the RPMs fly up, and I’m stuck in what I think is 2nd gear. Have about $800 in on transmission work already.... can’t figure this out
@@mdendariarena7 same here. 05 Liberty. Looked up a TSS sensor. Even bought one. Couldn’t find where to install it. Seems you have to drop the tranny just to get to it.
@@christopheralmaraz1143 I got rid of the Jeep. Got a Toyota Prius with 200k miles on it. - literally never been more content with a vehicle lol.
I have that problem but mine is not a 4x4
Same for 2008?
Yes
I'm looking at an 08. He says it's in limp mode. Stuck In second or 3rd he thinks. Scanner tool is not picking up codes but abs light is on. Hes an hour and a half away. I want to go take a look at it and see if i can do this trick to fix it. Thoughts? 139k miles. Asking 1600
My gear shifter needs to be tighten up
Ever see this in a cherokee?
I was driving my car start it stop on me
That did not work.
what about a 2004
