    Well I’m sure this will be the first of many comments but I have enjoyed your channel and have gained a lot of knowledge on the how to’s on getting my lawn into shape. Doubt I could keep that beautiful blue alive but I currently have Bermuda in the north yard and fescue in the south yard.
    But anyways keep making these videos there are full of knowledge and Entertaining.

    Love that Tenacity. Sometimes I get a little crazy with it and get some white spots. Put it down last fall and spring and it knocked the hell out of the crabgrass. Weeds are no problem but invasive grass is. I use it to kill nimblewill.

    I bought that for my lawn and the broadleaf grasses turned absolutely white. My lawn now is one of the best looking lawns in the neighborhood.

    We have been applying Tenacity to combat nimblewill in our lawns the last 3 years. After 2 years applying it to the whole lawn we started doing spot applications from a backpack sprayer and have much less unintentional bleaching of the lawn as a whole.

    Did you do a broadcast app of tenacity recently or spot spray? I know you used it at seed down as a pre emergent. I love tenacity. Did two apps backs in June and one more right before I put my seed down a few weeks ago. Stuff works great. I need to do one more app soon for the remaining weeds it didn’t get I just hope I don’t go over the annual maximum limit. Might turn the kbg temporarily white but it will bounce back. That stuff is resilient. And it will fill in. Maybe not this year any more with temps dropping rapidly around here but it will fill in next year hopefully!
    That little garden area looks good! I need to plant some more stuff in my front flower garden next spring. It’s not as full as I would like yet.

  • @LawnCrack
    @LawnCrack 5 лет назад +1

    👉 The 'bleaching' is actually the Tenacity stopping the photosynthesis process from occurring in the weeds. Thus no chlorophyll and they turn white! I have freaked plenty of customers out over the years applying Tenacity!!! Works great though and you can still sow seed before/after immediately after, etc. whenever...no seeding limitations. I loved it because of the wide range of weeds it controls including grassy weeds + the bonus of being able to seed and kill weeds at the same time.

  • @stcc692

    To turn the groomer on and off there should be a Knob with F,R,N on it for forward reverse and neutral. Set it to neutral when you don't want to use it, forward for minor cleanups and reverse to really get aggressive.The lever you flipped just lowers or raises the groomer unit down to turf height.

  • @l9ikjam
    @l9ikjam 5 лет назад +1

    So if you keep the grass at say 3 inches would mowing often still result in the grass getting thicker and growing better?

    At 3.00 that looks like the poa annua the pain of European sports turf ~ it basically keeps producing those white seeds all the time it will die with heat/drought stress . The tenacity will probably do it for you but only with repeat treatment ~ have nothing like Tenacity in Europe ~ we have to dig it out as the seeds lye dormant within the top layer of soil so it’s a tuff deal with....... love your efforts on the channel

    • @lawnrebel
      @lawnrebel  5 лет назад

    When you cut those trees down you should do a stump burning video or 3 different ways to get rid of the stumps. We all know having it ground out is the easiest way. But still it's fun to watch creative ways to get rid of them.

  • @walterlodzinski6847
    @walterlodzinski6847 5 лет назад

    The tenacity bleaching on the actual bluegrass will be fine. It won’t kill the kbg but you’ll have to look at it until it grows in and gets mowed. My wife wasn’t a fan either ha. Usually it happens when you apply decently heavy

    The grass at 2:50 looks like Poe annua from the video an ID characteristic would be seed heads coming from the grass and a folded leaf tenacity won’t kill Poa just bentgrass roundup is one of the only ways to get rid of poa u could also u PGRs to suppress the seed heads so it would spread as fast

  • @egrab
    @egrab 5 лет назад

    That could be Poa Trivialis at 2:50. It dominates in the wettest, shadiest areas of the lawn. It will turn white or even brown & dead looking, but the tenacity won't kill it.

    • @critterdude311
      @critterdude311 5 лет назад

      I agree, it's hard to tell from the video, but it does look like it could be poa trivialis based on the color and growth habit. It might be worth hitting it with gly now while it is manageable and then maybe plugging some good KBG from other parts of the yard or sheets of sod.

  • @mmacejko929
    @mmacejko929 5 лет назад +1

    If that undesirable around the 3 minute mark is bentgrass it might take 2-3 applications to get rid of it. I’ve been battling it in my lawn the last two seasons. Tenacity should kill it but it takes awhile

    • @kennycooperkc
      @kennycooperkc 5 лет назад

      Looks like bent grass to me also. I found out what it was after spraying tenacity on a renovation I did that butts up to bentgrsss. 2 apps of tenacity 2 weeks apart and it will be gone

    • @Velvethamma
      @Velvethamma 5 лет назад

      Methylated seed oil works well with Tenacity to hit the bentgrass hard. Might ding the new turf a little but it will recover

    • @kennycooperkc
      @kennycooperkc 5 лет назад

      I don’t know much about it except from watching videos on it. I don’t think I would try it on such new turf. Maybe just spot spraying

      I have experience with using this application method in my lawn care business. I agree that spot /zone treatments are safer

    • @lawnrebel
      @lawnrebel  5 лет назад

      Definitely safer... Way less enjoyable for sure. I personally prefer the blanket app because it's way easier. It may stunt the good grass but it always comes back.

  • @kennydanger7762
    @kennydanger7762 3 года назад

    A second app of tenacity of new seed seems to be a point of contention between pros. Some say it’ll stress new grass from seed too much, even when following guidance on label. What’s your opinion?

    • @lawnrebel
      @lawnrebel  3 года назад +1

      I'm for it. Yes you're likely stressing out the new seedlings. I think that you do a second app but with a lighter rate

    Raising the groomer usually works better than turning it off. (JD has a simple system for that, Which is useful after mowing on topdressed surfaces) If you turn a Groomer off and leave it in it's operating position it will just drag over the turf.

    Clutch Engagement/Disengagement
    The grooming reel should be disengaged at all times ex-
    cept during grooming.
    IMPORTANT: When engaging or disengaging the
    clutch, be sure to turn the clutch knob all the way
    until it comes to a firm stop. Failure to do so could
    cause damage to the clutch.
    1. Depress clutch snubber and engage the clutch by
    turning the clutch knob counterclockwise.
    2. Turn clutch knob clockwise to disengage the clutch.

    • @lawnrebel
      @lawnrebel  5 лет назад

      no way to turn off my groomer. Its on or off with the spin of the reel. I have looked and inspected it closely. it is also either up or down.

    Looking good. You like your grass short or long? I know you're going short just wonder what you like best. And why is everyone going short now? Is it better?

      Short. Always been a short cut kind of guy. I've never cut it long

    I thought you killed your lawn in the first place because of weeds.... I am confused.
    EDIT: I just rewatched the original video. You mentioned the poa multiple times as one of the reasons, so I remembered that over the mono-stand reason. My bad.

      Whenever you seed there’s bound to be some weed seed in the grass seed. Still better than sod. Sod will always look like a toupee no matter ho old it gets.
