    Your child was eyeing the Kayano more. I have both, but choose to walk in the Gaviota and run in the Kayano.

      Interesting. What gives the K30 the advantage for running, in your mind. Always great to hear from people who actively use both models. Do you actually prefer the G5 for walking, or is that just because it's not your huge running favorite ?

      @@q20a08 The Gaviota is a very large shoe, and although comfortable to wear, just isn’t as enjoyable on a recovery run for me. It could be that I prefer the larger heel to toe drop offered by the Kayano, and the benefit it provides my Achilles tendon, which can ache a little on lower drop shoes when running for longer distances.

      @@Joe_Souza Thanks, Joe. The "large shoe" part of it is a plus, in my case. Can't fit into typical narrow Hoka toe. Both of these (K30 in a wide), seem like strong possibles for me.

    Hehe, thanks for realize that we wear the Kayanos at the hospital!
    I’m physio at a private clinic today and I use them for work, lots of confort to my feet 😊
    Unfortunately they are not so great for running as I find them too “softly” for my flat feet, I feel better with the GT 2000 or the New Balance 860
    Inevitable the softer the shoe, the less stability it provides… I recommend flat feet runners to privilege stability versus cushioning (not hard shoes, just a little firmness!)
    Thanks for your reviews!

    I have and love both. I do a lot of walking.
    I wear the Gaviota 5 if I’m not doing more than 2 miles. If I’m doing longer walks, say 5 or miles a day, I wear the Gel Kayano 30.
    I’m more comfortable wearing the Gel Kayano 30 because it offers slightly better cushioning around the heel than the Gaviota 5 does for me.

    Doctor, what do you suggest for a similar shoe that is actually flexible without the rocker. Something cushioned and inherently stable, not posted, that's got all the cush but ideally also plush in the upper. Closest thing I got is the More V4 but the upper is NOT plush at all.

    I got the kayano 30 in wide version and they are too roomy for my feet in all directions, especially height wide but also too much room in the heel area which force me to lace them really hard with a runners knot. Qny advice on how I can get them fit more snug for a better running experience?

    Been running with the Arahi and loving the support as I have post tib and plantar fasciitis issues. I am running a 85km ultramarathon in 2 months and not sure if I should get a gaviota or kayano.
    Any advice ?

      perhaps not as specific as you would like but I have both and either would be a good choice. potentially the Asics might be more comfortable for that longer period of time

    I love my Kayano 30’s, not really liking my Kayano 31’s-they don’t feel as cushiony and I feel like the heel cup is not deep enough.

    have the K30, dont use them for running to harsh but ok walking. the question i have, do you know of any independent research on midsole performance across brands in relation to temps cold vs hot weather? as asics blast+ and eco which i use are much firmer in the cold same with nike/adidas in past but my brooks glycerin21 dna loftv3 is very consistent no matter the temp.

    You mentioned stiff ankles with the Kayano. I've been having chronic post tib issues and wondering if that's due to weak ass ankles? If so, would a lower drop or lower stack height be better?

    • @erinmalette7276
      @erinmalette7276 8 месяцев назад +2

      I also have chronic post tib and lower drop kills the ankles as it requires more dorsiflexion. Yes, learned that from one of Matt’s posts.

    • @DoctorsofRunning
      @DoctorsofRunning  8 месяцев назад +3

      That is a great question. Chronic things can come from a variety of issues. Strength work at the ankle is incredibly important at this point. Right now, a low drop will require more strength from ankle muscles, so working on strength and slowly integrating low drop shoes is the best bet

    What would you recommend for someone with over pronation. I was in between the arahi 7’s and the keyano’s

    • @DoctorsofRunning
      @DoctorsofRunning  8 месяцев назад +2

      Kayano will fit a little wider with well integrated stability pronation. The Arahi 7 fit narrow/snug and the medial stability is more noticeable (pressure into arch)

    • @tunechi1351

    • @DoctorsofRunning
      @DoctorsofRunning  7 месяцев назад +2

      That is a great question! Toe box is lower in the NB more v4. Sidewalls are taller/more aggressive in the more while the Gaviota has more noticeable arch pressure/medial stability
