Ashwin kumar there are not many ways of doing that, and whatever method he used indeed affects battery, so a normal iPhone may perform even better in battery.

Considering that the Pixel 4 doesn’t even turn on the 90Hz refresh rate on any brightness lower than 75% by default (which is ridiculous considering its already comparatively mediocre brightness), I’d say it was running at just 60Hz the entire time since 200 nits is not 75% of 444 nits
What I’m curious about is if the iphone 11 was updated to iOS 13.2 during this test, because iOS 13.2 did have a bit of a battery drain issue. If so, it’s amazing that it still was able to do so well on this test despite iOS 13.2’s battery problem.

Hey Hi phonebuff. U r just awesome in doing these. How about a battery drain test of regular note 10 vs iPhone 11. Waiting eagerly for this. Pls do it. Im using a note 10. So, even more anxious now.
Although it is a clear winner, it would be interesting to compare performance by battery size relatively. You might be able to extrapolate from the figures. What is clear is Google sacrificed the battery for other features, probably hoping the software around battery management will improve performance. However, this is forgetting the customer, who does not want to have battery failure in less than a day. I've always run mine plugged in, but I don't want to do this. It will be huge if Google can fix this issue for customers. Another thing would be to see if dark mode makes a difference on Google device. Anyway good test. I hope the Google product manager takes note. It's annoying that this has been an issue on all the Google phones from my experience.
Apple's fanboys only focus on release dates of devices and not internal hardware, it doesn't matter than the Note 10 and Pixel 4 were released in the 3rd/4th quarter of 2019, they're still using a 2018 SoC, the Snapdragon 855, which was meant to compete with Apple's 2018 SoC, the A12. The 855+ is just an overclocked 855 so it isn't the A13's competitor either.
@@WeatherxCalipha Bruh, Apple released their devices similarly to the flagship androids, so what you mean is that those androids should be 2020 too? Or is it because Apple is too ahead of android.
The comparison is very unfair, the Google 4 has a 2k oled screen with 90 hz against a 60 hz HD LCD screen .. the iPhone battery should last a day longer than the pixel 🤦
Yeah rainbow is the prime example of who buys Apple products. Probably has no idea there's even a huge difference between the screens on the two phones. iPhone screens are terrible outdated crap.
@@OmarZ77 Your comment is so flawed for a whole number of reasons... 1. OLED uses MUCH LESS battery than LCD, since it does not require backlighting. 2. That is correct, actually. The Google Pixel 4 XL has a 1440 x 3040p display, and the iPhone 11 has a 828 x 1792p display. However, the iPhone 11 (625 nits) has a much brighter display than the Pixel 4 XL (444 nits). Though, brightness wont matter in this test since both phones were calibrated to have the same brightness. (I just wanted to include this small detail.) 3. The Pixel 4 has a 90HZ display, but it needs to be above 75% in brightness in order to kick in. In other words, the Pixel 4 XL had 60HZ the entire time (which is quite sad). 4. Also, you do realize that they're comparing the XL model of the Pixel to the BASE model of the iphone. So, the Pixel is supposed to be winning here. Not the smaller, cheaper iphone. 5. To correct your last statement, it would realistically be: "I'd take 90Hz over 1-5 hours of extra battery life any day. www.androidauthority.com/oneplus-7-pro-battery-life-90hz-display-985616/
@@OmarZ77 Simple. XR: Less dense (828 x 1792p) LCD screen, bigger (2942mah) battery. XS: High dense (1125 x 2436p) OLED screen, smaller (2658mah) battery It's a no brainer that the XS will lose, since it has a smaller battery, and bigger display. But yeah, in your usage-case, a 90HZ display would work for you. Since you wouldn't mind the decreased battery life. But for me, poor battery life would be a huge deal breaker.
Julian Shuster that shouldn’t be an excuse. If you’re gonna add in flagship feature, they should have considered increasing the battery or optimized it to the software.
@@julianshuster2960 that aint an excuse, if you decide to put a 90hz display, you better back it up with a bigger battery and better optimization, its 2019 and all phones are competitive
I mean, apple has always been good at optimizing their phones with their software. Gotta hand it to pixel for only being 1 hour different while it was running 90 hz and with a much better screen resolution. I want to see these tests with the pixel 4 at 60 hz and same 1080p resolution as the competing phones.
@@connectedr Yeah, I see where your coming from, but software is where the magic happens. It could be because of the fact that the A13 chip is efficient along with their software. However, as cool as that might seem, their phones are just not for me. lol
from my perspective the Pixel 4 XL actually did pretty damn well for that resolution and 90hz display compared to an older and lower res iphone 11 display.
Here's the thing, people don't realize that the pixel 4 was made with a battery optimization mode, this basically makes it so the more you use your phone the better the battery gets. So if he were to do this same test like 5 times over the pixel would eventually come out on top.
That is with only 200 nits. If you use it outdoors like normal then because of its low high-brightness it will lose battery life much quicker. When these tests are done indoors they are not real as many times we are using with LTE and higher brightness. So what we see here is close to the best-case scenario, most people will get less, some a lot less. In comparative terms, it cannot beat an iPhone that has over 800 mah less, beaten by an hour is relatively bad, in fact, awful.
In my opinion, the remaining battery performance of a phone after 1 year of use is more important than the battery performance of a new phone because a new phone often performs well in the first couple of months but sucks after then. I've recognized this effect especially on iPhones (no hate). I think, you should now compare e.g. the Iphone X with the Pixel 2 XL or the Galaxy S8 to see how the battery held up.

Would be great to see a test from Pixel 4 (without XL) want a smaller phone.. but rumors are telling that battery life is even worse
Am I the only one who was watching the iPhone Home Screen? Like how is it possible to arrange apps like how it was done?
Maybe jailbroken ?
gamespecies Not sure if he would test battery life comparison on a jail-broken phone
Ashwin kumar there are not many ways of doing that, and whatever method he used indeed affects battery, so a normal iPhone may perform even better in battery.
It's the second home screen not the main home screen where, he used the second home screen to set up the apps in similar positions of the Google pixel 4xl since you cant rearrange some of the app from apples main home screen page
At the bottom you can see the 2nd little white dot above the clock app indicating what home screen page it's on
Considering that the Pixel 4 doesn’t even turn on the 90Hz refresh rate on any brightness lower than 75% by default (which is ridiculous considering its already comparatively mediocre brightness), I’d say it was running at just 60Hz the entire time since 200 nits is not 75% of 444 nits
lame dude
The November update removed that restriction on the 4 xl for the 90hz refresh rate. No longer a valid statement
Derek Wright sorry, I wasn’t aware of that

Ok google : tell me a joke story

This tests are so perfect with them controlling so many parameters just great..
Not official unless phonebuff does it
One of the best test video methodology I've seen on RUclips
Why would you buy a Pixel when you could buy a OnePlus. Basically stock Android.
Verizon does not fully support OnePlus
Nah
There is difference between flagship and budget flagship
vinith jain Except the camera, Oneplus is basically better in every aspect compared to pixel.
I dont think.. i think even pixel 3xl is better
Best perfomance and battery tests on RUclips ever.
So you’re saying the regular 4 didn’t even compare for it to be tested
CHANOS TAR 2.0 my guy the regular 4 dosent even last half a day
Google is lacking this year
I’d love to see a Speedtest between these two!
Pixel 4: Most disappointing phone of the year
And most ugly too
What I’m curious about is if the iphone 11 was updated to iOS 13.2 during this test, because iOS 13.2 did have a bit of a battery drain issue. If so, it’s amazing that it still was able to do so well on this test despite iOS 13.2’s battery problem.
do the rog phone 2 against the iphone 11 pro max, rog phone 2 has a 6000mah battery while the pro max has 3969
Rog phone 2 would murder the iPhones. They wont do that test because it would be too violent
@@fightnight14 seriously think that it would be to violent, like even with the 120hz on it still
@@Slobaz you notice nobody does it because Pixel vs iPhones would get more clicks and views.
@@fightnight14 yeah and also cause the rog phone 2 aint even in stores and stuff yeah yeah, but would be a great battle thou
@@fightnight14 no joke i feel like this guy has a fetish for iphones so all im saying is he would never allow his 11pro max to be beat by something 3 times cheaper, i got mine for 800 and that 11 pro max is 2000
I haven’t watched one of these comparisons in a while, but I feel like he must have been bitched at by a LOT of fan boys to be so diligent about making things as absolutely equal as reasonably possible.
Similar price? Isn't the regular $799 Pixel 4 closer to the $699 11 instead of the $899 XL lol?
Yeah, but the regular $799 Pixel 4's battery only lasts like three hours lmao.
Sebastian Leon 😂
Anyone realised that we just watched a 24 hours of timelaps video , for just 5 minutes
Appreciate it bro , keep this up !
90hz refresh rate should have been disabled prior to the test.
Your tests are ... the best.
Google failed in every department this year
As a former android user (8 years of galaxy series) I'm really happy with my iPhone 11 (especially with the battery). I can go through an entire day of university and still have 60:70% left in the evening. Great job by Apple this year..
i wish you used dark mode since most everyone turns it on.
Also wondered if you did a speed test iPhone 11 Vs the 11 pro just to see if the lower resolution does anything
2:00 your confused friend.....thinking that you've gone crazy!!😂😂😂😂
Swaikat Kazi 😂😂😂
Now imagine if this was with the non XL version of the pixel
Can we have a retest done with the dark themes turned on on both devices? I want to see the difference between the LCD display consumption and the OLED display consumption and see if it could bridge the gap between them because lets be real here most people are gonna use the dark theme
When that 590 mah of difference is not enough lol. The optimization of iOS is amazing
You're talking about numbers but failed to say the Pixel 4XL has 3K display pushing 522 pixels per inch on a larger 6.3" display with 90hz refresh rate?
Phone 11 has 828p display pushing 326 pixels per inch in 60hz. Big difference in quality. You gotta pay to play
You have the best quality Battery Tests
Pixel 4 is joke in every way:
- 2021 Price
- 2020 Photo
- 2019 Software
- 2018 Video
- 2017 Storage
- 2016 Battery life
- 2015 Design
I guess Google can only get the software right.
Pixel 4 owner.
Price = disagree
Design = disagree.
Everything else sounds about right.
Video is probably 2015 because the iPhone 6s can shoot 4K 30fps
@@imaadmalik7336 u r paying more than iphone 11.How is the price justified acc to you
@@ashtonsequeira9757 maybe handset only price is more. I have a contract, the price is comparable.
@@ashtonsequeira9757 I much prefer android and have done for a long time, that being said, I think this years iPhone, especially the pro are top drawer
Hey Hi phonebuff. U r just awesome in doing these. How about a battery drain test of regular note 10 vs iPhone 11. Waiting eagerly for this. Pls do it. Im using a note 10. So, even more anxious now.
The 90hz only works at 70% brightness
Or go in the developer settings
Nie So that makes the results even more awkward for the pixel 4
Although it is a clear winner, it would be interesting to compare performance by battery size relatively. You might be able to extrapolate from the figures. What is clear is Google sacrificed the battery for other features, probably hoping the software around battery management will improve performance. However, this is forgetting the customer, who does not want to have battery failure in less than a day. I've always run mine plugged in, but I don't want to do this. It will be huge if Google can fix this issue for customers. Another thing would be to see if dark mode makes a difference on Google device. Anyway good test. I hope the Google product manager takes note. It's annoying that this has been an issue on all the Google phones from my experience.
remember, IPhones are designed a generation ahead of Andriod.
What that means is the 2019 iPhone is designed to compete with the 2020 Android.
@@Sksjssnsns ^^^^^^^^
You do the best tests
I think iPhone 11 really gives "value for money" term
Good Job 💯
The comparison is very unfair, the Google 4 has a 2k oled screen with 90 hz against a 60 hz HD LCD screen .. the iPhone battery should last a day longer than the pixel 🤦
Dark mode would’ve helped both the phones to last a little longer
It would only help the Pixel 4 XL because Pixel uses Oled display while the iPhone 11 uses LCD
My comment is based on the video by Phonebuff of light vs dark mode on the iPhone. Here the dark mode lasts longer.
@@fareezmirza2530 That's on the 11 Pro, not the 11 and the 11 Pro uses OLED.
Apple Pi oh ok
Best youtuber . Keep up with the good work.
OLED vs LCD display and still Pixel 4 XL lost the battle😂😂😝
(I just wanted to include this small detail.)
XS: High dense (1125 x 2436p) OLED screen, smaller (2658mah) battery
It's a no brainer that the XS will lose, since it has a smaller battery, and bigger display.
But yeah, in your usage-case, a 90HZ display would work for you. Since you wouldn't mind the decreased battery life. But for me, poor battery life would be a huge deal breaker.
I really like your videos!
i have iphone 11 and i proud have it on space gray daily use on the college
One of the best battery tests I've seen though interesting video
Google hasn’t yet figured out how to optimize battery to their software and hardware like Apple have done with the iPhone 11 line up
Not even that, you do have a point but the pixel has to deal with a small battery and a 90hz larger display
Julian Shuster that shouldn’t be an excuse. If you’re gonna add in flagship feature, they should have considered increasing the battery or optimized it to the software.
Julian Shuster the iphone 11 had a smaller battery & the 90hz is disabled under 75% brightness. Inexcusable
@@julianshuster2960 that aint an excuse, if you decide to put a 90hz display, you better back it up with a bigger battery and better optimization, its 2019 and all phones are competitive
@@tgfuytftytyf yeah, it's garbage battery life no doubt
Thanks for the video 👍🏽
But wait! Is 200 nits high enough for the thing in the pixel that makes it allow 90hz? It only happens over 75% brightness.
Not since newest update... That's been fixed
The display is running at 60hz probably
so you're saying the iPhone would win by an even higher margin if both displays were calibrated to 300 or so?
Apple Pi yes
Joey Taran that update is still being rolled out
I mean, apple has always been good at optimizing their phones with their software. Gotta hand it to pixel for only being 1 hour different while it was running 90 hz and with a much better screen resolution. I want to see these tests with the pixel 4 at 60 hz and same 1080p resolution as the competing phones.
It's not just software magic. The A13 chip is tiny and super efficient too
@@connectedr Yeah, I see where your coming from, but software is where the magic happens. It could be because of the fact that the A13 chip is efficient along with their software. However, as cool as that might seem, their phones are just not for me. lol
Me: "Wow, my Iphone XR is great, i love it! Apple never will make a great phone again"
iphone 11: "Hold my beer..."
Diego J. Oliveira True 11 is amazing 😉 but I’ll still stick with my Xr.
from my perspective the Pixel 4 XL actually did pretty damn well for that resolution and 90hz display compared to an older and lower res iphone 11 display.
Photo Luke I dont think that the Pixel 4 XL had 90hz at this brightness
Pixel 4 is a joke of 2019
Let me tell you a hilarious joke.
PIXEL 4.
🤣🤣
You had 50%brightness at iphone 11 and 70-90-100 to pixel so that increases battery. Maybe you like more this iPhone and you make it win
Only one Day Left #Giveaway Soooo Much Excited 🤩 hope I'm Gonna Win
Here's the thing, people don't realize that the pixel 4 was made with a battery optimization mode, this basically makes it so the more you use your phone the better the battery gets. So if he were to do this same test like 5 times over the pixel would eventually come out on top.
Hi
You should do a battery test between a phone in a cold environment and one in room temperature.
Iphone 11 for the win🎉🍺🍻
Guys...not bad that a Pixel 4XL with the 90Hz 2k screen got 7:43 SOT. That's not as bad as many reviewers are making it.
I cannot believe I said this..
Iphone is better than Google. D:
Google Pixel 4XL stupid green Shrek
The only actually good sponsor ad

It’s crazy what phone optimization does
Gotta give it to Apple for having their software and hardware so optimized.
David, you’re the best, for real.. but don’t you think you should enable dark mode on the pixel 4xl? The battery should last more, right?
This Battery Test is really really good
