You are the most concise and consistent reviewer GSM arena has. Nice job on making this review as objective as possible and not making the phone seem like the best or worst that has come out this year.
I only paid £550 for my Pixel 4 XL and tbh I really like it. Charged at 10:30am and after heavy gaming, social media and general usage I'm still at 56%, I liked the phone
Although I do think Apple devices are overpriced (although I really have to appreciate them for bringing down the price this year and working towards the SE version), they do last long. You spend that much money but the phone can last you over 4-5 years without much of an issue on the performance. Obviously it's not for people who wishes to buy new flagships every other year. But in a long run you do save money tbh.
@@faizelthabang8305 disagree. Priced similarly to the iPhone 11 yet ha many more hardware features. Sure you can compare to the OP7T/Pro, but there cameras are garbage compared to P4/IP11
The prices of these phones depend on the market they're sold. In my country, Oneplus is expensive then Note 10+ and pixel 4xl 64GB variant is expensive then note10+. But the there isn't much difference in oneplus 7t pro and Pixel 4xl. Which makes it a better choice then oneplus. But here the Samsungs are the best value. As they're the cheaper then oneplus, pixels and iPhones.
4:30 Wow what a criticism! It's TOO quick. It unlocks without me having to push it upwards. Maybe companies should give an option to slowly unlock the phone and needing the swipe to not get moronic complaints like this.
He said that because it's the same problem you get with the iPhone. You can't read any notifications because the phone just unlocks, making notifications useless.
@@pkpnyt4711 You can also disable the option to skip the lockscreen which means it will unlock the phone, but still require a swipe, allowing you to view notifications.. this isn't a problem for most people, you just toggle "Skip lockscreen" off and he even shows that in a video clip.
i live in a small town with only 200 people and this astro photography mode on my pixel 3 has been awesome! i am going to buy the pixel 4 now and i hope it gets even better! ^-^
Benchmarks don't judge a smartphone performance.. Just do a head to head comparison between 1+7 pro and Google Pixel XL and then you will realize the power of pixel
After holding it in hand and playing with it for a bit, I really wanted it. The deal breakers were the poor battery life and having to crank the screen to 100% to make it viewable. My alternate choices are the Galaxy Note 10+, or OnePlus 7T. Possibly even the LG G8.
@@riven4121 Fool the camera in Poco F1 and record it, I dare you. And as much as I know iphone face unlock does the same thing. So yeah nothing that new here. The poco has two parts infrared camera and infrared illuminator, & ofc the front camera. So if they wanted, they could have designed it to take 3d photos. It takes 2D photos, doesn't mean it can be fooled. The illuminator throws infrared rays at your face i.e. 3d face, while recording the face or unlocking the phone. All in all face unlock has always been considered as a convenience feature and less of a security one, given pixel team did such a bad job that the phone can be unlocked while your eyes are closed. So yeah not really a path of greatness they're following.
Can someone tell me why everyone is stating that the battery is not adequate? I have had my Pixel 4XL for the last few weeks, and I am easily getting two days of use before charge. I converted over from the OnePlus 7 Pro, and have to say, I prefer the battery life of the Pixel 4XL. I did not do much to extend battery life. I did drop from 90hz to 60hz, but that is because I simply cant see the difference, so why use the extra battery? Also, have a dark mode turned on, but thats it. I was so worried about the battery life that I turned off the motion sensors for the first few days, only to discover after I turned them back on, that it didnt wast battery life. Could this have been fixed with an recent update or something, or has the average life of a cell phone jumped to more than 2 days?
I have a pixel 3 xl and am planning to upgrade to the 4 xl. I almost went with the 4a, which is a much cheaper version, but by switching to a different carrier, I am getting over 900 off the price of the phone. I bought the pixel stand, so I am glad to be getting another phone with wireless charging. I wish he would have said something about call quality, but I think this phone will more than suffice.
Please tell me why you would want more than a day of battery.... BTW always on display is the actual killer... It's tuned way too bright and drops nearly 1.5 hours of screen time when enabled. I get about 6 hours of screen time with motion sense and force 90hz enabled.
Hey great review, learned a lot from it. I kinda came to see how the device would compare to the regular pixel and you didn't talk about size or feel that much though. Just my 2 cents.
I've got a 1+7T but would swap it for 128gb 4XL in a heartbeat. Pixels are just great to use. If you haven't used one, don't bother commenting. You won't understand.
@@melvinsebastian8989 I don't suppose you've read my comment about me currently using a 1+7? I've used (in the last year), a Note 9, S10+, 1+7T and a Pixel 2 XL. The 2 XL is the best to use. Not the best specs. The best to use.
11:00 mark, pretty clean but like I can get basically the same shot with my P30 Pro in auto mode, which is instant and still captures the stars even with light pollution... hmm.
I definitely wouldn't recommend the Pixel 4 at launch, but there's one thing that reviewers consistently overlook. Predictably, you can get deals of $200 or $300 off around Thanksgiving. Couple that with the trade-in value giving you usually at least another $150 to $250, and that makes the Pixel 4 a steal. I'm getting $500 Google Fi credit plus $250 for my trade-in. That effectively makes the price of my Pixel 4 XL around $250.
Nice review I think it's a good device where it suffers is price and storage... 899 for the Pixel 4 XL should have been 128 gigabytes of storage and if you wanted to upgrade they should have went up to 256 for $999... Phone should not come with 64GB... That's an outdated storage capacity in my opinion... The lack of wide-angle camera on the device is also a miss by Google... Where it shines is still pictures still the best... Upgraded software and Google assistant and the face unlock is really good... I love the design also very easy and fun to hold I really think it's the perfect size device. And the white matte and orange matte are awesome. I really think if Google would of priced it at $799 or even $849 for the Pixel 4 XL 64GB... 699 or 749 for the pixel 4 64GB...They would have been in a better place with consumers and reviewers.. overall still a good device I do really like it just overpriced and lack of storage options camera options make it suffer a little bit especially no 4K 60 on the rear and no 4K on the front
Look if there's anything that I've learned over the last 2 years is that tech reviewers are feeling increasingly isolated and neglected by Google's design choices....and it pisses them off. They feel this way because (sometimes arrogantly so, and sometimes ignorantly so) they want to think theiir opinion mirrors the purchasing public. Because let's face it, if that wasn't the case, then it theatens their very existence. The problem, however, is these tech reviewers simply do not represent the purchasing public and the drive-by readers/critiques simply pile on and were never true purchasing power consumers to begin with, so their opinions are meaningless. Quoting specs, hardware design, etc mean very little to the average consumer that knows a great experience when they see/feel it. I think Google knows this. Software makes the experience, not hardware folks. Bottomline is that I no longer look to tech reviewers for advise or recommendations in my yearly smartphone upgrades. My personal experience with the Pixel 4 XL's battery is better than the Pixel 3 XL. I get through the day easily and am always near a charger whether in the car, home, or office. It's simply a non-issue.
I'm glad someone is saying this. I've noticed that when I dig through these reviewer's comment section I see many people accepting what the reviewer says as gospel truth and then I see the comments from people that actually own the phone and those that own it are super happy with it.
depends where you live mate , and more to the point it is way over priced anyway imo . In my neck of the woods , the base 4XL is $1279 , the 128 gb model is $ 1429 , which is a joke , and although they do ship with some crappy buds here , it still has no headphone jack , no sd card . Last years 3XL was easily a better device .

Finally an example that an automobile enthusiast will like and relate to. 😁 I would still want it but it is costly - like 5 months rent in a fully furnished apartment. 😂
I use two dailys, the S21+ & 4xl. I will not give up my 4xl, why? The user experience is fantasic, cameras & updates. Plus I like pure Android. Is the triple8 processer faster than the 855? Yes, but not by much? It keeps up admirably. The display, there pretty evenly matched. I enjoy using both? But even in 2021 with reduced prices I still highly recommend the 4xl, still a great phone with buttery 🧈smoothe performance!
Google should have never got rid of the nexus program, switching to the pixel and moving to the "mainstream users" instead of keeping the nexus/pixel as a development device(which it still is) was the worst possible thing.
Solid looking phone but.. people complain about the $700 price of the OnePlus 7 Pro. $200 less for 4x more storage, bigger screen and more RAM. Camera nowhere near as good but then again I'd rather have the larger memory and screen. Or for $100 or so more you can get the Note 10 which still uses microSD

The Smallest ever top bezel we've seen in this generation phones😂😂😂..Hats off

You are the most concise and consistent reviewer GSM arena has. Nice job on making this review as objective as possible and not making the phone seem like the best or worst that has come out this year.
The best reviewer of GSMARENA, talks calmly, not in a hurry!
I only paid £550 for my Pixel 4 XL and tbh I really like it. Charged at 10:30am and after heavy gaming, social media and general usage I'm still at 56%, I liked the phone
Moral of the story, your never going to make everyone happy someone will always find something to complain about
Well, if you like things that are apple priced, without apple specs, then go for it
Just picked one up for $150 Excellent condition!
If the battery is just okay from brand new, in 6 or 12 months it will be less than okay. I recommend the 3aXL if you can get £/$100 off.
GSMArena, if you are going to add a 60fps video sample, please render the video with the maximum framerate of 60fps. Thank you.

Probably the most underwhelming phone this year. Really disappointed in Google

Apple delivers more at that price point compare to p4xl
Although I do think Apple devices are overpriced (although I really have to appreciate them for bringing down the price this year and working towards the SE version), they do last long. You spend that much money but the phone can last you over 4-5 years without much of an issue on the performance. Obviously it's not for people who wishes to buy new flagships every other year. But in a long run you do save money tbh.
Google sucks just as much as apple now.
@@inabyss delusional. An Apple phone slows down so much after just one year.
Is it worth getting this? Or wait until Black Friday or next year? Have the Pixel 3 XL as my phone.

After holding it in hand and playing with it for a bit, I really wanted it. The deal breakers were the poor battery life and having to crank the screen to 100% to make it viewable. My alternate choices are the Galaxy Note 10+, or OnePlus 7T. Possibly even the LG G8.
Get the 7T...it's awesome!
4:09 So pretty much the same hardware as Poco F1 but with a better software!
@@riven4121 As I said better software.
For the pixel 4 to be that kind of price does it really do what you were saying in the video?

1:29, Pixel 4 felt harrassed. Lol
May I know which is the smartwatch ur using?
Please tell me why you would want more than a day of battery.... BTW always on display is the actual killer... It's tuned way too bright and drops nearly 1.5 hours of screen time when enabled. I get about 6 hours of screen time with motion sense and force 90hz enabled.
Pixel - Now following footsteps of iphone

Hey great review, learned a lot from it. I kinda came to see how the device would compare to the regular pixel and you didn't talk about size or feel that much though. Just my 2 cents.
I've got a 1+7T but would swap it for 128gb 4XL in a heartbeat. Pixels are just great to use. If you haven't used one, don't bother commenting. You won't understand.
Steven Lowe Have used. There are way better phones out there. Try to come out of the box.

It's $900 for the 128GB edition not the 64GB addition correct this.
Still not worth it...there are wayy more better options now for even $600+
900? Thts ROG phone 2 money but with way less features. Google needs to get it together.
