I like the way Keith starts the opening riff, then notices the celebratory drinks come up, stops mid-riff, puts his hand up, gets a drink then starts the riff a bit later.

Here's to the memory of Ian "Stu" Stewart, who, by all accounts, was the unsung hero of the Stones until his sudden and untimely death in 1985. Both Mick and Keith absolutely agree that while he was never out front after the early days, he was a vital part of the band straight to the end of his life. Keith still says that it was Stewart's band in the end.

I saw a birthday show in Vancouver in the early 90s, Dec 18 of course... the crowd of 20,000 sang happy birthday to him upon Mick's urging but it meant a lot to him, the man shed tears on stage...those of us that knew what day it was cried too, blessed to have the opportunity to sing to him for a change... it was beautiful...
I saw them this tour. Keith looked like his days were numbered! So thin, so amazing, so there by some kind of magic power. To think he is still going today! "To your health Keith!" Indeed!!
It’s 2024. Soon my 60 year old self will be watching 80(!!!) year old Keef sing this song live (a hit when I was in college in the 80’s..) and we just don’t deserve all this goodness. Thank you Lord 🙌✨ 🤩

If i remember correctly from Keef's book called Keef: Charlie Watts mostly got the job because he had a van and speakers. Charlie was mostly into jazz. And there's a good tale, also in Keef, about how far Charlie will go to get a message to the singer in the band.
Actually Stu had the van and Bill had the spare Vox AC30 amp. Charlie got the job because Brian Jones persuaded him to join the band. Bill got hired because Brian and Keith needed the amp.
All Charlie had was a snare, bass and high hat. All he needed then and all he needs now.
the pools in but the patio aint dry...
I worked at this hotel in my younger yrs during the height of this song, and we served food on the patio by the pool. But we had to close it when it rained, and we made no money then. I always felt that Keif knew.
The pool's in, but the patio ain't dry... Meaning the cement poured around the pool to make the patio hasn't dried yet. So we can't go swimming until the cement (the patio) dries. I'm just curious about what it was that you felt Keith knew? All of what you're saying, or that somewhere, wherever it's raining, outdoor pools at hotels are closing?
it was seem so, but it was metaphor about his drug addiction and building a better foundation and improving things, unless you can show he had just bought a house then and was pouring cement for a patio, I would think he has enough money to
have made a stone patio so nothing to dry,.

Now almost forty years have passed and Keith is 75 years old and still alive and rocking! Amazing!!!

Outstanding performance. In top form at end of American Tour 1981. Saw them at JFK Stadium in Philly for first concert of same tour. Let's Spend The Night Together by Hal Ashby chronicles tour also. 32 years goes by fast bro'!

The band was never the same after Mick Taylor left. He brought that beautiful sound that cannot be replicated.
Taylor was there for the apex of the band, but they were good both before and after him. I love Mick Taylor, though. He is perhaps the most underrated guitar player in rock history.
+andrewptob I love MT too. I don't think he's under-rated at all. The media all acknowledge he was absolutely brilliant during his tenure with the Stones. Want to know who I think is the most under-rated guitarist? Buck Dharma of Blue Oyster Cult. Check out his live performance of "Last Days Of May" here on RUclips. Rolling Stone magazine didn't even include him in their list of 100 greatest guitar players. But they included Jon Mitchell and Paul Simon??????
