That was very hypnotic, my wife had to throw screen wash in my face to break the trance.
This was bound to happen sooner or later. We should have screen it coming.
My wife has just declared me nuts for watching a video about windscreen wipers!
Good man, but remember, you are NOT alone.
Don't worry, you are not nuts
If you think Mr. Hubnut is a little weird for making this video, keep in mind you watched a video on windshield wipers wiping!
Yeh, busted lol!
Dammit
And we all watched to the end, guessing what the vehicle is
I liked the part where there were wipers.
I also liked it when the wipers where in time with the music.
Me too!
Which part of
The inevitable video we all knew would be made one day.👍
My favorit: that red Alpine GT v6
Good to see some w124 mono wiper action👍 something this channel needs more of.
You are on the naughty list for missing out the quirky Allegro wipers.
...so we the unwashed expect this on part 2 :)
"...and climbing the charts, this week at Number 3, it's "Wiper Madness" by The HubNuts!"
Just watched all the way through, how do you do it ? I’d of never watched a vid on wipers before, I’ve been hubnuted
Watched out of curiosity, kept watching because I really enjoyed the music, then smiled while thinking that this could only happen on Hubnut! It's why we keep coming back, content you won't get anywhere else.
Swish! You are spoiling us Mr Hubnut, we're dribbling!
A true art form
When it wiped, that was clean.
Finally! I found someone with the same weird fascination as me!
My word, this is marvellous. Bravo!
I was going to comment on this video but the best quotes have all been taken in the 168 or so plus comments already. 6.54 of my life I will never get back but rather satisfying to watch. Ian how long did that compilation take to put together.
Peak Hubnut, at the start of the year! I missed the rotary headlamp wipers, as well as the BMW twin wipers. Maybe the sequel?
Thank´s Ian. I spent alot of this video admiring the car interiors and instrument binacles as well.
I bet that was an easy edit, there must be wiper action in 90% or your videos. Very cool 👌
Seriously ‘weirdly’ enjoyable. 👍
Wipers meant nothing to me until I found this channel...... I never knew the wife's Fabia had a service position on her Fabia to replace the wipers I always assumed they would not lift off the screen. Top Job Ian
That saabs headlight wipers just wow.....
I was nearly to the end of this clip and thinking of sending you a videos of my Stag and 2500S (which both have pantographs on the driver's wiper) when I caught the pantograph action on the red Stag and breathed a sigh of happiness and recognition.... You've thoroughly fed my fetish for a while with this video, mate. On behalf of the wiper fetishists everywhere on this little globe of ours, I thank you! An excellent cross-section of LH park, RH park, centre park, single, multiple, independent and (my personal favourite) pantographic. I am so pleased you indulged us!
I also love watching the speedo needles on the old classics (usually Smiths speedos are the best for this). I grew up with my Mum's A30 and its central speedo that had it's own dance that would change with the speed we did. They really add character with their gentle waving.....
Ian you bugger sitting in my no lights new clip ...... o ...er ..... hmmmmmmmmmmmm ,will never work out why i have a strange feeling for wet windscreens and rear screens . Relaxing music .. as the latest lock down finally sent you to the funny farm , yes i confess i had two nissan bluebirds ...... what a hypnotic wiper action ,what a fab car from the far east i still would love to get another one .......but no the kinks coming out.... lol , about to watch another action packed clip my foxanne mug ready with a hot cup per, biscuits ready . Relax ,EVERY ONE OUT, THERE STAY SAFE
Don´t know what is more sad...you making this Ian or me wathcing it!
I always loved the wiper on the Citroen BX, with the washer on the arm, spraying, frugally, exactly where it was needed. I never refilled the reservoir. When it went for a service, they did this for me, and being honest people, they would hand over half a bottle of concentrate. When I took it for the next service, I would give away that half bottle.
Worst wipers were on the Morris Marina, which were fitted on the wrong side. The swept area was about 3" below my eyeline, but were great for a passenger. On the LHD model, they moved sides, making things bad for French drivers too.
The (single) wiper on my Daimler is just 6" long, and just about useless. However aerodynamics push all but the worst rain off to the side. Failing that, the top section can be opened outwards, though goggles might be needed!
That was mesmerising
Wow, I think it was the saab headlight action going backwards and forwards like a squeezy!
How can 2021 get any better than 6 minutes and 54 seconds of hubbers wiper action? You tell me! I like to think Hubnut wrote and performed the music also.
They are a vital part of every motor vehicle that is so easily overlooked and so many manufacturers have either not put enough effort into, got slightly wrong or created masterpieces of wiper mechanism goodness. I understand your passion for finding a decent wiper design and pattern. The Triangle Of Doom has ALWAYS pissed me off, it's a sloppy lack of attention to detail and should be outlawed. Keep up the good work :)
That was great.
Enjoyed.... but would have helped me, at least to have captioned what cars we were looking at...
Wipers aside, I really enjoyed his music 👍
How cool is this video....fantastic
Nice editing, and works well with the copyright free music. You do have a slightly disturbing amount of wiper footage though.
I was wondering if you'd sneak in the clip from Twitter showing the wipers on HMS Queen Elizabeth!
Great fun video, although all that washer action sent me off to the loo several times, or maybe I am just old?
Thanks.
Part 2 please!
Neat shots! Must have taken you some time to pull the clips from all of the videos. The Saab headlamp wipers look to be the most simple and effective type I’ve seen. 👍🏻
Ahh very satisfying and relaxing!!! Nice Mr Hubnut. Did you do the music?
Not my music. Details are in the description.
Wiperotica!
Should be a warning on this video, my dog Betty (no not named after a certain AU falcon!) transfixed at wash and wipe action. Who knew there was canine appeal as well!?!
Lovely video. You should get your new employee to help out with the video editing, leaves you more time for tinkering!
It's wrong in so many ways to have enjoyed this montage so much.
Shame they're talking about banning Buy One Get One Free, cos we could have all booked group therapy.
Wiped away by this
Some days just need to be a bit easier going on you two. Wipeout would seem the right music. Wipers definitely don't seem well designed by most manufacturers on older motors,.....Has it got any better on the newer cars. You can upgrade the sprayer hardware with better pumps and jets, it might help a bit.
4:09 savin it
WiperNut....👍
I love HubNut but I do slightly worry about your wiper obsession ! Are you the world’s first wiperphile ?
And with your concern about triangles of doom, what could you see from that area ? Low flying aircraft ?!
Dirty! Dirty! Dirty! 😂😂😂
No Air/individual wipers :(
I demand in the EU less UK the return of the headlight wiper !
Oh yes yes YES YEEEES ..... cough cough um excuse me
Problem is I now find myself looking at every cars wipe pattern, I never used to have this problem, thanks Ian
It happens to us all, sadly lol!
i'm glad it's not just me
@@leeallen7491 does the amb do that
🎉🎉
The authorities will have you in a list for this type of content.
They sure will, Hub nut aka the pantograph pervert!
He's now not allowed with 100 yards of Halfords wiper blade department 😀
Some of this should be wiped before screening
I can't believe I have just spent 7 minutes watching wiper action and enjoying it!
Though the wipers that are out of sync with each other do cause a mild irritation!
I found those interesting. What car was it?
@@revolution1one the split screen VW ones were very slightly out; and the totally bonkers A310 ones seem to each do their own thing.
It's no wonder Elly's wipers are worn out! 😀
Elly needs a manual wiper option like the Tasmanian 2CV.
Why would anyone watch a video titled windscreen wipers and then give it a thumbs down? What did these people expect 🤔 I thought it was very hub nut 👍
Highlight for me the Saab headlight wipers!
Yeah, they looked pretty weird and must have been fairly reliable to still be operating all these years later.
Hmmm... Really crap or really cool ?
It's a tough one.
Definitely quirky and leftfield, because Saab...
No, got ot be the Hovercraft at the end. I mean Triple Blades ... heaven!
The Pantograph wiper on the rear of the Bluebird is so satisfying to watch.
Agreed
Oh yeaaaahhhh!!!!!
Your telling me Right? I know someone that owns one with that very rear wiper. Could watch that all day 😮
And also a local ex dealer to me in colliers wood!
What was the green Australian car....exposed linkage indeed.....that was a thing of beauty
I've had a mild obsession with windshield wipers since I was a kid...
Yeah, I'm weird! :3
To some, this is less exciting than watching paint dry, but I loved it! Fascinating to see many designs we don't get in the US!
I stumbled here trying to find videos of wiper arm alignment. So glad I did! Love the pantographs!
same
I was too!
Me too
SAME
I'm obsessed with wipers
3:40 our Morris Minor does exactly the same.
Cleavage of doom!
Well that makes up for the lack of wiper action on Ellie.
I’ve had a fascination by different wiper patterns since I was a small child in the 1960s! I always look forward to the triangle of doom test.
It's always something I've noticed too. I always notice when a car has wipers going when it isn't raining.
Me too. My sisters used to laugh at me when I made wipers at the dinner table with two knives...
@@chrisharkin3741 I used to do that too!!
@@chrisharkin3741 yeah but dont play with them that much.
Just when you thought there was no way the internet could get any weirder.
Because HubNut 👌
There’s people who review Toilets
Now that took some serious editing. Definitely worth the results though. 👍
Cheers. It's taken all day!
@@HubNut Worth it though Ian. The Triple Blades on the Hovercraft was absolute heaven. :)
Just when I thought I was the only one obsessed with windshield wipers Hubnut came to the rescue. Cheers
Your not alone
Me too! I have found my people!! 😄
Nice to see you making a clean sweep for the new year.........I'll get my coat. 🙂👍
The 190 wins for me the only way have no triangle of doom what so ever.
I've just clicked on a video about wipers and the triangle of doom.who said 2021 would be boaring🤣🤣🤣
Why didn't you do this before? Now I want more wipery!
Peak wipage was the SAAB headlight smudger. Perfection.
Idea: what about an indicator video. I do like a good indicator. Front or rear, I don't really mind. Just make each one long enough to give the feel of the cadence involved.
Hubnut gets my vote for internet winner today (again...)
All the wiper goodness
With the odd triangle of doom and a few areas of disappointment
My Faves are Asymmetrical moving ones like the 70's and 80s MB S Classes and 70's and 80's Saab 900's and recently I've discovered the Peugeot 604 and Saab Sonnet have unique ones also. Cheers to Eccentricity!🙄
all of the money shots...
I managed to identify around 90% of the vehicles by dashboards alone.... More of this, please!!
subtitled - OTHER peoples WORKING wipers
Australian car test magazines (Motor Manual, Modern Motor or Wheels, don't remember which) once included wiper clearance photos in their technical summary - it seems they coated the screen with some white substance, ran the wipers and photographed the result. This was many decades ago when washers were fairly uncommon and some wipers were straight blade.
It would be interesting to compare efficacy of washer pattern, for which I nominate recent Kias - superb fan spray.
wow just wow, the action the suspense its all to much in one go. definitely a video to save for future generations 😊👍
I'm looking forward to the Alpine A310 review
They still had them on the renault GTA V6 Turbo
My favourite wipers ever are on a 993 series Porsche 911 - used to love the look and watching them in my Dad’s when I was a kid!
SO very Hubnut and entertaining.
Ian, perhaps you should take Ellie to Ypres in Belgium 😂
That was rather satisfying to watch.
Nowhere else on the interwebs can such greatness can be witnessed.
A few more unique wipers to feature in "Wipers: the Movie", Part 2...
The Seat Altea/Toledo had the most amazing wipers which both parked vertically in the A pillars. British Leyland did unusually well in the wiper stakes with the Princess and Montego (parked below bonnet line!) and the Triumph Stag had a unique pantograph wiper on the driver's side.
The Peugeot 604 and the contemporary Mercedes S class had two wipers which parked parallel in one corner and then wiped an arc, with one wiper travelling twice as far as the other. Older London taxis had odd offset wipers, one parked horizontally and the other vertically, so that one swept up while the other swept down. I remember seeing some headlamp wiper-washer units that operated in turn, so that one headlight was always on maximum brightness.
The Pulitzer/Nobel/Bafta award for wiper ludicrousness has to be shared between the Alpine 310 and the Panhard 24.Thanks to @Chris Harkin!) The wipers on both cars park on the outer lower edges of the screen and swing upwards toward each other, but while on the Alpine they sort of smack together in a "get over to your side!" motion, on the Panhard the wipers swing up and down and never quite meet in weird, asymmetric arcs which some drivers might find to be dangerously hypnotic.
Glad you mentioned the Panhards. !
Have now driven a Panhard, so can add that to a future compilation. ruclips.net/video/DoHttV6prgk/видео.html
Nothing beats a video with plenty of rubber action, Ian!! (Er.....wiper rubbers, that is).😵
Only one missing on my "wish list" is the Porsche 928 rear wiper.😉
Wipe!!!! him off the subscription list , its the only solution he's going doolally!!!!!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧STAY SAFE STAY OUT OF WALES.......
I've just sat watching this & found it oddly satisfying I think. I'm. Going nuts
I worry about you sometimes, I really do.... 🤣🤣
Right up there still has to be the Nissan Bluebird Second is that Renault alpine then The cleverness of a Mercedes Wiper that appears to Jump Twice in action then those Saab Headlight Wipers are on another level yet so simple. Oh! Why dont they make cars as intresting as this in 2021 is beyond me. Superb Collection 👍
Two you must have in the next edition, BMW i3, a shockingly awful TOS and a Porsche 928 rear pantographic splendour.
Very hypnotic, one, two, three - your back in the room!
Love the cavalier headlamp wipers. But you need to get some Peugeot 405/6 wipers with the wash bar on the wiper arm. I think the BX used them too
Loved the light wipers like a borrower was cleaning the lights from behind the grill I can understand your obsession now Ian Rob
That's my bedtime entertainment sorted 😀
I'm watching a video about windscreen wipers. What has gone wrong with my life?
Mmm, wiper action. My favourite is the A310 - those are bonkers and I could watch them all day. Thanks Ian - old man now happy.
Could have got a Leyland National in for good measure. Nonetheless (dunno why I keep saying that) an excellent compilation.
My whole outlook on wipers has changed completely since I discovered you Ian.' Dribblement of Despair' anywhere on the wiped area is my main gripe though tbh.
I never thought there would be a bunch of people loving wipers as I do.
I am 16 years old and do always simulate active wipers with my arms. The mechanism of these wipers (especially the new types of wipers) is amazing! And you can test it by yourself with your arms on a table with things or so!
Lol same as well, i'm 12 and do the same thing like you do :)
Wow same I love wipers from 3years old to 13 years old now 😊
By far the best thing that happened to me today :))))
I really liked that Nissan Bluebird rear-wiper, it's nice to look at in action.
I miss my previous car, a 2001 Volvo V70, because it had headlight-wipers, those were very helpful when driving in saltspray.
