keep cooking bro. this "farmer's league" argument has always been flawed, it's like automatically defaulting to the conclusion that drake is the best artist because he has the highest popularity/social media appeal. shit's nonsense
but isnt farmers league true? Something like the spanish league, it has been repeadetly won by the same team time and time again. Makes it a farmers league, as a team is constantly winning it without any change. Same with the bundesliga, nobody said it wasn't a good league in terms of competivivness, but in terms of who ends up on top every season, its a farmers league, with bayern not winning it after 17 straight seasons
@@evaosv farmers league means that one team (which represent the supposed farmer) is walking thru the whole league just easily tilling the fields (the fields would be the other teams). Its suposing that that one team is easily winning the league without challenge, just walking thru every team. This obviously isnt true from La liga. But if we appeal to ur definition which relies solely on the variation in winners, then the premier league as of now is a farmers league. City have won 6 out of 7 of the leagues, hence its a farmers league.
@@shadezero8661 But why wouldn't la liga be a farmers league? If you think about it, variatian in winners and difficulty are the exact same aspect. If a league has no variation in winners, like Ligue 1, that means that the competition level for that team is too easy, wouldn't it?
I agree with everyhing you said. I think the premier league has a huge advantage when it comes to marketing/popularity because its medium is english and english is 1) the most spoken language in the world. 2) some of the richest and most populated markets in the world (USA, india, middle eastern countries) all speak english. But i feel like the bottom premier league teams are worse than the bottom teams in la liga. The bottom teams consist more of local players since they dont have too much money. And imo the average spanish player is better technically than the average english player
No, the reason you've just given about lower league teams having less funds so using local players applies less to EPL as their lower teams faaaaar outspend their continental counterparts.
I think it stems from two main problems: 1. People don't actual watch the games and even when they do, they only watch for the banter. It's quite similar to NBA fans who don't actually watch other teams play but somehow have strong opinions on their players. 2. Thinking is hard. It's more difficult to think through the nuances and so fans just resort to simple narratives. It's no different to problems outside of sports, problems are rarely black and white, the truth is usually somewhere in the middle but it's easier to ignore the nuances and run with a narrative.
Copium is that you?😂😂 22/23 season Dortmund went toe to toe with Bayern and could've won it if not for the stupid bottling against Mainz, but still y'all were like "It's still a farmer's league" even though they lost the league on goal difference, now that it's premier league's turn, you are trying to insult people that call it farmer's league, most people that called Bundesliga farmer's league that season didn't watch most of the games also, or any game in fact, so take the L and just pray city don't win again next season (Jsyk, they still will😂😂)
@@jamaludeenameen5361 maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying, but I am not implying that any league in particular is a farmers league. I'm only saying that, there are so many nuances when it comes to conversations around sports that it's easier to run with narratives instead.
@@jamaludeenameen5361 ok I think understand you now. First, I think it's a bit absurd to imply that somehow I called the Bundesliga a farmers league, given that we have never spoken before and second, that I implicitly or explicitly refer to them as such. If you want to run with narratives like "so and so league is trash because it's a farmers league and so any and all accomplishments attained while playing in them don't count" then that's fine - I'm only saying this because it's an argument you hear often. I'm saying that I just prefer a more nuanced conversation. I find such tropes tedious and irritating.
The ‘farmers league’ term isn’t even used correctly. It was initially brought in to describe teams from lower level European leagues that were outside of the top 5 (England, Spain, Italy, France, Germany) and Netherlands/Portugal. People confused the term ‘farmers league’ and ‘one team league’ and ran with it. In my opinion, there is no best league because there’s no fair metric to judge which league is ‘better’. The performance of the top teams in Europe is a terrible way to judge it because it comes down to knockout matches that are subject to way too many variables and only judges a small portion of teams. It’s true that the Prem is the most watched and generates the most money but that is because we’re English speaking and have more access to American/African markets but that doesn’t objectively denote higher quality. The whole ‘X league is better than Y league’ debate is a waste of time. It’s just like boxing - styles makes fights. A style will beat B style but will lose to C style.
farmers league argument always been flawed to me when considering the best players in the prem came from the supposed farmers league, ppl shit on. for example de bruyne played in the bundesliga before he went to city, haaland from Dortmund. etc
The Premier League has ALWAYS been a farmers league. It's always the same rich clubs that win. Don't bring up Leicester City. They were an outlier, not the norm.
Isn't that the same for every league. In laliga its real madrid and Barcelona, in serie a its ac Milan, inter Milan and juventus, bundesliga always bayern Munich and psg in ligue 1.
You're literally making the same arguments he's speaking against lol. If the prem is a farmers league, based on your logic here, then so is every other league.
Premier League Fanboys: "Premier League is so competitive" Also Premier League Fanboys: All are fans of Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Man City Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Since last year I was firmly on the Farmer's League train when it came to the Prem. It was a farmer's league with great marketing. That was my thinking. But I see your arguments and have come around a bit. So I can't say the league is on that level....yet. It's more like the NBA during the years when it was either Warriors or the Cavaliers winning the Finals. Sure you wouldn't exactly know who wins out of that particular series, but you knew who was making it to the finals and it made the NBA just boring. I think the Prem is going down that road but I hold out hope. Mainly because I'm a delusional Arsenal fan.
I know this isn’t a great example but I have this feeling from how Pulisic is perceived by prem fans or his haters, I say this because he’s rating by the Milan faithful has been pretty fair overall. He was fantastic at Dortmund and had a big shoes to fill after Hazard left even though he said wasn’t that kind of player. He did good at the start but once he got his first injures he wasn’t able to adjust properly and wasn’t able to get a consistent form because he was always getting hurt from the prem physicality. It wasn’t due to him being bad because of performance in lockdown and he made an impact in Chelsea’s champions league run. And once he left Chelesa and went to Milan, he performed very well and has recovered a lot of his form and improved. However if he’s talked about outside of Italy then those people will flock to say he’s crap because the prem is the best and he couldn’t succeed there and you are stupid or on something for saying otherwise. I also saw this with Gio Reyna where he didn’t fit Forest’s system, Onana even after he was playing well, Di Maria, Mo Salah, and Timo Werner.
I dont know its a good thing or bad thing but in EPL, its way too dependent on control and attack. When I see 16th place team try to high press City and get destroyed weekly. I mean a team should know their strength. Obviously it will make entertaining games but highly makes any logical sense.
There’s a reason why the prem gets cooked in Europe. Sure they have the second most UCL’s but many of those were during the late 70s and early 80s when they won seven cause they were up to the time strategically with the same amount of money. Then when football changed radically during their UCL ban they never recovered despite having more money. And if their so good below the top six explain their Europa League history.
If your league doesnt perform in Europe and a single team winning 4 title in a raw, then, that league is a FARMER LEAGUE. PREMIER LEAGUE IS A FARMER LEAGUE. THATS IT
I think you are missing a point, or just don't want to expose yourself with a risky statement. The premier has always been a league that consistently offered a dynamic and generous tactic, far from speculative Italian football, for example. In Italy the champion wins its games 1 - 0, 2 -1, while in England the scores might be 3 -2, 5 -0, etc. But, all things considered, the premier is going through a pardon/don't know/don't see the use of doping substances. It is circular: in the 90', doping was wildly used, with the authorities turning the blind eye. Italy was dominant, its clubs had the best players. From 2008 to 2012 Spain had its peak with a doping as a State strategy, years where they won everything in all the sports, and, of course, getting the most desired title: 2010 World Cup. Now, it is the premier time, nobody runs like English clubs, with no rest, constant pressure the 90' and beyond, and the paradigm of that intense play, with players flying over the green grass is, like you wouldn't guess, the Man City of Guardiola. I stress "of Guardiola" because doping is a pivotal part of his training, and it is never random or excepcional, on the contrary, it's an organized and systematic practice in all his teams. Pep abuses knowing that he gets the benefit of the complicity of Wada. Barcelona was great, but Pep wanted everything at the highest level, any help was welcome. That Barça had that insane possession and pressure due to this "magic shakes" made by one of his doctors, that is still working with him at City. Remember the first semifinal vs Real Madrid, when asked what happened to de Bruyne? He answered: "Vomits, vomits" that is why he didn't play. Remember Messi? Pep left Barça, and Messi stopped vomiting.
Farmers league is a league wich we know the winner before the league started yes premier league is farmers league napoli roma almost won serie a also and dortmund used to keep bundesliga entertaining on few occasions

Havertz had a growth spurt that forced him to change his whole play style that's why he's not the same player as he was in Germany
The signing aspect is where City is above other team they rather sign Doku from Rennes than a winger from the Prem
instant sub, great takes.
