This redstone video was very good change from all the other videos. In this video you took us along for the creative process and designing of it. Instead of showing us the final project then giving us a tutorial, but a tutorial on this would be nice sometime.

It was so amazing to watch your process. That's one thing I always have trouble with when designing redstone contraptions. Finding and fixing redstone problems is one of the most useful skills in minecraft

That was absolutely amazing to see someone create something for the first time and have it work good in the end!
Started my piston door building with a 4x4. Approached it with a different method. Ran lines out from each piston to a pair of ABBA switches. One for opening, one for closing. Took a lot of repeaters, torches and blocks but worked pretty good as long as you weren't in a rush.
Have only built 2x2 instant doors and occasionally a 3x3 vault door since. Ever since the modern flying machines began to go widespread in usage, always thought that would be an interesting way to approach arbitrary sized doors without relying on falling blocks.

I was sitting there cheering you on. you are the best, and I don't know how you always pull it off.
I am now even more proud that my first 4x4 door was 2 blocks wide and relatively compact in the other dimesions. If Mumbo's first 4x4 door was less compact than mine, then....wow. He's normally better at making doors than me.

also i know you're feeling of needing to make a compact of possible even though it is the first time making it. that is why i yet to successfully make a 5x5

@@Ferotiq i know but i CANT use it! It makes no sense whatsoever! Like half the time the piston has no power source in a 500 block radius and its still powered, other times in unpowers and repowers randomly

a monostable circuit - a circuit which outputs a short pulse, when you input a long pulse
a falling edge monostable circuit - a kind of monostable circuit which sends an output pulse once, when you don't send an input pulse

Mumbo, The day you posted this I remembered that for the 3 1/2 years I'd been playing Minecraft, I'd never made a working 4x4, only things like slime block 3x3s, spiral 3x3s, tree entrances and such. So when I saw you complete your 4x4 door, I hopped into Minecraft, and said, "I'm making my first ever 4x4", so I spent about 4 hours (coincidence?) making wiring, testing it out, and about 2 hours in, I found it only worked on one side, so I built the same circuit in a different rotation, and it still only worked on one side, so I just at the very end, I was about to give up, but then I started adding humble-jumble to the top sorage piston and made a pulse extender, I went down to the lever, and when I clicked it, the all closed and opened in sync (on the sides) and I was so happy. Thanks Mumbo for inspiring me to make my new favorite contraption. And I just want to say, I love your videos, keep up the good work!
I made one vertically 4x4 in bedrok, but its design is massive. kudos to Mumbo for being able to do it so compacted

I made my first 4x4 piston door today (I made it in bedrock edition), and it was nowhere near as compact as yours. Good job!
Edit: I forgot to mention that this video was my inspiration to try it.
My first one was not very compact aswell but then at my 4th try i made one that was relatively compact and made it more conpact

Mumbo I remember watching this video a while ago and thinking "hm... I've never built one either." You have inspired me to continue using redstone and I have created one of the most compact 4x4's. It's 2 wide and fits within the footprint of the back pistons!
