Those two are not mutually exclusive.
To make it a bit easier on you and because i want to see further. Edit the push limit to -1 for infinity so you don't have to deal with the weird extension method and then build a 100 piston extender.

He could do it with his design as is, but it would take a couple modifications. I’ve made a 42 piston extender with the same design except I modified the extension to work smoother

yaay now i can do a 21 piston extender to move a gold block 21 blocks.... at least it works...but maybe just use a water steam...never mind we all know how you are with water steams and pumpkins on hermitcraft

Mumbo: Hey, I'm going to make a 900 piston extender over the course of two hundred days!
I have an idea, but I don't know how it would work.
Mumbo, right after you used that 'caterpillar effect', I though of something.
What if you hooked up a perm counter to disable the monostable circuit from the back to the front, with each rotation of the clock making the counter go up, disabling the next piston, and the next, causing the caterpillar function to not activate the last piston, then the second last and so on.
You wouldn't have to build many circuits, just the main three. The clock, the caterpillar retracting function, and the counter. (and maybe a reversed counter of sorts for the extension process?)
I haven't done much testing my self, but if this works, you could make a seemingly infinite piston extender, and the only difficult part of making it would be getting the number of clock rotations right!
Someone please get on this!

@@ryanmarcus3970 - Nope, theoretically in math and logic it seems sound. I'm personally no redstone genius and I don't have a lot of time to devote to this, but these words have a sense behind them that probably works!

Challenge: make a wall of dispensers that creates obsidian with lava and water to create a portal, and then light the portal with a flint and steel in a dispenser.

Make a hidden, 2 or more blocks wide, spiral staircase, underground.. have to open with a redstone torch key, surfaced at groundlevel.. love to see that one Mumbo😙😄

Build a 7 segment display spoon counter in hermitcraft5 like in h.c. 4 and hang a silver spoon (stone shovel) at 50 spoon moments on the wall in an item frame, a gold one at 100 and a diamond one at 150
