Seems like a very dangerous thing to have in your floor though. Try standing on the tape as you press the button; you get mangled by pistons.

I've seen it happen lmao. I put one of these in a puzzle game. It was at the end and it was misdirection. You just had to find the hidden exit on the back wall. My friend managed to get stuck in the machine instead. Classic.

when you struggled with the pistons at 9:00
you can just skip the piston that has to come out first becouse the outher block will push the block that that piston is pushing in place (sry for the incredeble complecated explonation and bad english)

Thanks again Mumbo! Glad you had fun with the challenge!! You can add a decoder circuit to it as well if you have a square of 8 hoppers that quickly get unlocked and move the item over one hopper, making this contraption into a color combination lock!
After a few revisions we got this down to a 7x7x6 space contraption (I think), and it uses a bit of a different concept with only 3 pistons per module excluding the middle ones. Took a while, but it's really cool and I'm glad you were able to have fun making it yourself!
Make piston feed tape that is vertical, turns clockwise, and is a 5x5 ALL but the corners are gone
Also make it activate with a daylight censor!

I made a 12 by 12 in about 10 minutes. Mumbo made it way harder then it needed to be. Mine's faster, smaller, and cheaper to build. His is way cooler to watch though

Make one of those rainbow spinning spiral which you can walk through like your going to another dimension! Make the spinning part with Piston Feedtapes!

The funny thing here is that if you removed the green circuit that was causing him so much trouble (along with the associated pistons and observers), it would work just fine.
Mumbo seems to have forgotten that blocks pushed by pistons can push other blocks.

Mumbo Jumbo work with some body that is great with slimeblocks and make a working traffic light for people that are on there feet and people on slimeblock machines that don’t need to turn. Make buttons for the ones that are walking and auto stop and go systems for the slimeblock machins. PS command blocks are allaud for traffic lights that are high in the Sky. PPS I have dislection and from the netherlands.

The pistons that pop up from the bottom to push the corner blocks across are not required, as the previously middle block would push the corner blocks across, once it gets pushed into its place.

Well, it took a while but I finally found it! I watched this a long time ago and it inspired me to think about it on my own. I came up with a couple ideas, but never was able to test them.... until now. This Monday, me and my friend are getting together to engineer a *gasp* Flush with the floor, 20 x 20, over the push limit, full cornered, piston feed tape! Wish us luck!
omg mumbo the first time I made my gapless piston feed tape I used a completely different layout and retracting order that is sooo much simpler to use!

This is really neat, BUT for anyone who doesn’t need a completely gapless feed tape but still wants to eliminate at least one of the gaps, it is possible to make a piston feed tape very similar to the usual two gap version, but instead of having two sets of two pistons fire at one after the other, you can have it so that only one piston fires at a time in a spiral sequence, resulting in an almost equally compact piston feed tape as the usual one but with one less gap.

You could use those to make rotating floor arrows to lead people somewhere! Click a button and the floor rotates to show you the way to the location pressed! Great for modular builds without much visual distinctiveness between sections

Even though I don’t have the patience to watch the whole way through this time I do want to say I really appreciate this kind of video, where we can see your process. It makes you go from “magical redstone god” to “holy heck persistent respectable redstone pro” and if you ask me the latter is better.

An alternative way of making a gapless feed tape is after you pull down the feed tape, you can pull out two of the sides (-1 block each) to make a normal feed tape. e.g. if you have a 4x4 gapless tape, you turn it into a 4x6 feed tape, move it like normal, and then push it back into a 4x4 shape.

Mumbo was going insane, the laugh confirmed it.
Couldn't you have just removed a corner, push around the tape one at a time, use a sticky in the original corner so you can retract the miss aligned block back in the corner, then reinsert the removed block in the created gap?
The block that is being retracted into the corner wasn't originally in the corner, it's from the centre of the previous order. And the removed block is being inserted into the next order
The redstone might not be, but the pistons will be. Maybe I'm not explaining it well enough...
that's almost what the smallest one does. i was trying something similar to this and got a under 100 block size
No becouse, THERE IS A CORNER THAT HAS A GAP AND HE LITTERALLY SAID THAT THERE CANT BE ANY GAP, and becouse you pull that block back, that block doesnt go anywhere. Its a piston feed tape not a feed-tape-one-corner-no-move.
I said that the block removed from the corner is inserted into the next slot, which isn't a corner, after the rest is moved. You remove the corner, making it easier to move the rest, then reinsert it in the next slot. With this design, you can create full feed tapes 5x5 and even bigger.

OH wicked idea! have a maze where you gotta follow a bunch of these to point the way, with a certain color, but you gotta activate a bunch of buttons to make them change and point the right way. they would point to the next button and each button would send a certain number of pulses to the machines on a delay to prevent breakage.

While you showed your system activating all the pistons manually, I might have come up with an easier way of doing it, but haven't tried it yet.
You could retract all the blocks down at the same time. Then retract the middle blocks out of the circle and push them aside. Now they are located next to the corner blocks again and can be pushed back into the circle. This way the corner blocks would be pushed to the next middle position by the old middle blocks, which are now at the next corner position.
As far as I can imagine, this would probably be a lot easier to build.

You should put something like this in your base (with a 2-block color scheme) on a really long clock, so that it will change every time someone comes to visit and theyll be like, "Did bumbo's floor just change pattern?"

Oooh... you could use this to make disco floors on the Hermit server in one of your stores. Just have glass blocks above the shifting platform, maybe include four sea lanterns in the eight moving blocks...

you don't need the pistons that pops up and push the corner blocks, because when the other piston pushes the (former) middle block into the corner, it would push the (former) corner block into the middle

Mumbo I think I found an easy way for that, you just need to pull the corner blocks downwards/upwards then do the feed tape circuit but you make things complicated so this is cool
