    There should be a "Door Jam," like a game jam but for doors. Each competitor (or competitors...? if there are teams) have a limited amount of time (traditionally 48 hours) to design their door. Everybody is given the same NATURAL layout (as in, a cave structure with some unexpected block geometry), perhaps voted on like a game jam theme. Extra blocks jutting out from the walls could be part of the door, or just used to hide sneaky pistons. Then participants score other entries to ultimately determine the winner.

    Understanding how to build piston doors is harder than learning history

    Anyone who builds these things and fully understands them better be eventually working on novel software or robotics at some huge tech company, because it's just a mindbending bit of engineering to put this together so seamlessly and densely packed.

    I think it would be really cool if you could use slime blocks by right clicking on any block, so that when you add another block on the slimed side, it will stick together with the other block. Basically, acting like glue

    I wonder if you could design a program to brute force layouts of redstone components, until it arrives upon designs which are faster/more compact for any given X by Y layout piston door. and u can stipulate conditions such as seamless yes/no, etc

    • @trucid2
      @trucid2 11 месяцев назад +1

      It would have to be more than just brute force because the search space grows exponentially with the number of blocks.
