      Great! That's what I was thinking, it would be great to rescue the old Shreddage Drums! If I may suggest something, it would be nice if you could create a section to add triggers (one-shot samples or electronic kinda) to the snare and bass drum.@@ImpactSoundworksLLC

      Maybe u could also incorporate it to Tokyo Drums, this is something very used in modern styles, rock, pop, etc. and it would be great to have it in the same interface, not having to add it separately.@@ImpactSoundworksLLC

    most organic vst drums

  • @CaptainVelveeta
    @CaptainVelveeta Год назад +3

    As far as 'quality sound' is concerned, VSTi drums have reached their peak. The only ones worth investing in are those who offer a large library of midi patterns. In my opinion, EZDrummer cornered the market with EZD3 as far as combining a high quality sound with a large library of midi patterns and fills. The only opportunity for improvement will be CPU usage and latency issues.

      Also, I own a dozen drum libraries. Most are popular for doing something unique. Brush drumming, vintage gear, etc,.
      This whole comment is just... Fucking hilariously biased opinion

    • @CaptainVelveeta
      @CaptainVelveeta Год назад

      @@xfwo ...not bias to any particular brand or company. I actually said they're all about the same. Most of the modern drum vsti's pretty-much cover all of the types of genres you might wanna use in your project so there aren't many company's these days who cater to one specific niche. As for "midi libraries existing as a purchasable item"??...each company sells midi add-on packages specific to their vsti drum mapping so you're forced to purchased theirs. Although some of the kick, snare, toms and cymbals might be close to the same the articulations and fills are usually mapped differently across the board so you can't use one in the other.

    Can you trigger these drums with a Roland E drum kit? So far I have triggered sounds from Superior Drums and Easy Drummer with much success. Superior Drums and Easy Drummer even have internal settings where you can tailor the drum sounds to the Roland E drum module. For instance, they let you pick from a list of drum modules, and then you click on yours (mine is a Roland TD27) and once you do that, you are 95 percent there/set up, you can then also make changes to settings like cymbal and hihat sensitivity, and then you have a very responsive kit.
    But this Tokyo Scoring drums works in Kontakt. Just wondering how responsive it is to be triggered from an external EDrum kit?

    For the track by Kaoru "Toni'o" which preset was used?

      Hey, I know it's a bit late, but if it still interests you here goes. I don't have that exact patch anymore (as I don't have the alpha version of TSDK anymore) so I can't check, but I remember a few things. As a starting point, I used the Init DW Allround kit in the Full Mixer All Mics patch, except for the Kick, which was the Sonor 22x16.
      I tweaked the mic levels a bit:
      - Snare: I only used Top 1 and Bottom mics, with the bottom mic being around 10dB lower than the top mic (in terms of level, not the fader placement). The Snare Top 2 mic was muted. I also boosted the snare by around 6dB in the Overhead and Room mics. And shortened the Decay to around 1 sec in the AHD controls.
      - Kick: Kick Rear is about 10dB louder than Kick Front (fader placement this time) and I didn't use the third kick mic at all. Also, lowered the kick by 10dB in the OH only.
      - Toms: didn't use the Mid tom at all, and I think I lowered all the Toms by roughly 4 dB.
      - Room mics, I don't remember exactly how I had levelled them, but I'm pretty sure that the "main" room mic was the Mid, with a bit of the other two mixed in to get the explosiveness of the far mic and the punch of the closer one.
      - Cymbal mics: the hat and ride mics were mixed quite low, like -20 or so dB.
      - OH mic: whatever the default was
      For the mixing... Unfortunately I don't remember what I did anymore, but I do recall that I used pretty much the same trio of effects on all the close mics for the snare, kick and toms; and on the Room mics: transient shaper, EQ, fairly hard; slow attack (30ish ms) fast release (150 ish ms) compression with just a 4:1 ratio (except for the rooms, it was a much higher ratio and fast attack, just absolutely slamming the room mics) and saturation in varying amounts. For the OH it was just EQ and some very light compression with a 2:1 ratio. With EQ, I basically always cleaned up the muddy midrange and the low end and then boosted the highs a bit. Also had a fair amount of plate reverb on the snare and a lot less on the toms and rooms. Then on the drum bus (the "master" in TSDK), I had a parallel compressor at 50% wet set quite hard also. And there's also some processing on the overall master bus in Cubase, with a bunch of compression, brightening EQ and saturation (classic stuff really). So essentially, I basically made my own preset, mostly because I like tinkering with this stuff. The alpha version that I had was a bit different to the actual released version, so I don't know how much this actually helps you though... Hope that it's at least something!
