Okay, honestly. That guitar solo almost brings tears to my eyes. It reminds me of those classic Japanese animes with absolutely mind-blowing rock guitar solos, like Hokuto no Ken. You outdo yourselves every time, Impact. Awesome job :)
My number one tip for solos is going to TACT and shortening the release time for the sustains and the mutes to give the notes more separation instead of them slightly bleeding into the following notes. Also, leaving a little gap after a note will add emphasis to the following note's pick attack sound for the same reason.
This is exactly what fledgling virtual-guitar players need - a guitar player showing technique both virtually and on his guitar. Meat to the bone, as they say.
Thank you so much - this is the video that I've been wanting since Shreddage 3 was released! It's amazing to see you build up all the layers and explain how they work - the cleanness of computer playback can make a simulated guitar obvious and it's great to be shown how to make it "imperfect", to humanize and add subtleties to it - I've been feeling my way with the available options, and being shown how to apply them correctly is very valuable. My only comment: it would be great to see you setting up the automations and TACT setups, etc, that you describe in the video instead of just describing them, so we could see your entire process. Hope that there are more demonstrations of Shreddage 3 in the field to come :)
This is exactly the kind of "realistic electric guitar" video I've been looking for. Also, props to you on the "Lord Vaun" animation cel from "Escaflowne the Movie" back there. That can't have been cheap.
Fantastic! So good to "see" the real instrument modeling/demonstrating the VST sounds! All the extra layers and explanations really took it to the next level. More please!
YES! We need more of these videos. Trying to get Shreddage to sound "played" and not "programmed" is my target. Learning from savvy guitarists is essential. Thanks ISW!
Just resonating with the comments below … this was a great practical video on building a credible guitar track. I’m currently working on trying to do as much of this ‘live’ as possible … which is a somewhat diff game. But, it can always be ‘refined’ with these techniques. Thanks …
my favorite video of RUclips , :U shoud aboid using more than 12dB/oct on that Pro Q , phase issues appiers in my eq analizer xD, and thanks for breathing, love you bye
YES! About time LOL.... Awesome vid.. Real world use and how to use the features to achieve a desired result, instead of just "this does that" - which isn't very helpful. Next vid I'd love to see is for Hydra in a real world Modern Metal scenario but with rhythms (in just the same format as this video).
Can you please explain the pitch bend for me? I've been using the wheel on my keyboard for bends, but the results haven't been very convincing. It looks like you triggered a bend sample. The controller lane jumped from 0-127 instantly, but the bend applied naturally.
There are no bend up/down samples, so this really is just the pitch wheel/bend controller being used. There's a short interpolation time in Kontakt that smooths/extends things, though.
@@ImpactSoundworksLLC Is there a possibility to expose the interpolation time parameter to the user so that you can tweak it? I've found myself sometimes wanting the pitch bend to react just a bit quicker to my programming / playing.
Nice video, I learned some new stuff ;) However, legato slides work really well for single notes, but I have less success with double notes or slideable chords. Is there any way I can make this work? Or does do I need to set preferred strings to make this work?
Unfortunately we can't add pickups to Rogue; the pickups need to be sampled simultaneously, all at once. However ALL future guitars will include multiple pickups (if the real guitar has them).
Is Midi Guitar Mode in Shreddage also meant to accurately replicate string/fret selection? Because in my experience with Legacy, Midi Guitar Mode does not respect any legato articulation.
This is super good to Knowledge. I've been messing around with a lot of third-party amp sims, to differ my tone, but I'm running into issues where certain frequencies just seem overly harsh to me. I think that's an amp thing, as I don't hear that when the guitars are played without any amps on them, but it's nice to hear this with Archetype Nolly. I'm curious though: if I were to use a third-party amp sim, what's the best way to double-track these guitars? I know you can go up to quad-track in the instrument itself, but I haven't had much luck getting those tracks to not play in mono (this seems to happen in Guitar Rig, from my experience). Any suggestions on how to achieving this?
A lot of amp sims, including guitar rig, have a stereo mode. In guitar rig 5 you can click the L/R buttons somewhere near the top of the UI to make it accept stereo. Then you can just feed the double or quad tracked signal from shreddage into one instance of guitar rig
Many amp sims have options to allow mono OR L/R input. Guitar Rig, for example, has this option at the top (only L is enabled by default). With Guitar Rig specifically, you also need to make sure any components in the preset are set to "Stereo" mode.
I've had the same problem with Realguitar. You can carve out the harshness using a dynamic EQ or Fab filter or try THU or Bias amp. Somewhere around 3000 HZ -Widen or narrow the frequencies on cutting and boost them back on the sim.{Lower treble and higher tone settings) Chorus helps some too.
Why is this so hard for me to do I have been trying to copy the tutorials but I can never get it to sound that good :(. Thanks for the advice but after 4 hours of rewatching and trying this tutorial over and over I still cannot get my sounds to sound like that. There is obviously something I am doing wrong but I cannot for the life of me figure it out. I will continue trying, but I wanted to voice my failures to you guys. Thanks for the nice tutorials, they seem to work on other people.

Where is the option to shorten release in TACT?
I don't find it.

Amazing mock-up, Amazing VST and awesome tutorial!
Well done 😎

Pretty awesome!
Thought you guys were done with the tutorial series for these.
Glad to be wrong =')
More to come!
Thank you for this!!!
Amazing tutorial! And amazing software!
Do you still need the slide key switches even when your notes are already overlapping? Thanks for this excellent tutorial!
Love these shreddage tutorial videos 👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent tutorial!!!!
The video script is far better then a Hollywood Movies.. So crystal clear.. thanks for the video
Crazy part is i came here for pointers on how to do a solo for a Persona 5 song and here i am hearing a Persona 5 cover ^_^

super helpful! could you do something similar for ample guitar metal hellrazer?
That's a competitor's product, so... ;)
Great tutorial.
But when will we get MPE on the Shreddage series?
This is somewhat dependent on Native Instruments' work in Kontakt 6. We're keeping an eye on it!
Dear Impact Soundworks, I have a question. Are you planning to make drums for rock or metal?
Im new to this, but could i just convert my tuxguitar tab into midi and then use in whatever program, that way i wouldnt have to start from scratch?
Freakin EPIC🔥🔥🔥

Why is the video playing faster than it was recorded and now you speak approx 1,25 - 1.5 speed? That doesnt help and makes it harder to follow.
We're not sure what you mean. The video isn't playing faster than recorded... is it possible you changed your playback settings?
dam, this is too complicated for me, its easier to just play the solo 😅
Shredage sounds superior
Shreddage seemed more synthy
Very interesting. I didn't know I had it all with Shreddage. But... it's tremolo, not tremelo.
It’s pronounced tre-meh-lo. Hope this clarifies things for you.
your looks are so cute just like a hamster ..
Wish shreddage was stand alone so you didn't have to use kontakt. I can't stand kontakt.
