Hey Remi, your work here is really inspiring. I can't play conventional instruments too well, because of my physical disability, but I've always wanted to compose a metal album. Seeing you making a track from start to finish using virtual instruments gives me hope that I can. I would love to learn more!
@@f3ynman44 all music software (which you'll see called DAWs, digital audio workstation) are pretty on par nowadays, but for having no experience with real instruments your best introduction would probably be FL Studio. It's also the cheapest, and the easiest to p1r4t3 (arr matey). OP is using Ableton Live in the video.
Man this is great. I haven’t played metal in about 10 years and don’t really have the time to dedicate to being in a band these days but I just discovered how great midi guitar and bass have gotten since then and I’m really inspired to start writing again
Archetics vibe and also my name is Remi too! Crazy cool vid, love the NeuralDSP usage with Shreddage. Fantastic and inspiring tutorial for someone who can play guitar but doesnt have the time coz i travel so much.
Those drums sound killer - I use modern and massive but it does not sound like this - would love to know your signal chain on those drums, especially that snare! Whole mix sounds great!
I use Shreddage a lot. Been using it since version 1. It's all over my newest instrumental album called "Home Is Where My Heart Is" by Gregg Hart. Absolutely love Shreddage.
Shameless self-promotion but I like your style. Sometimes we gotta get shameless. It's not like virtual instruments weren't also all over my instrumental album called "Fé" by NitroAnilin.
your rhythm guitar tones and mixing are always suuuuuper solid. Noticed you're using Neural DSP Nolly for them, right? Is there a specific preset you use or what do you do for amp approach?
Thanks you for making this i love metal mainly deathcore and i don’t play guitar (just started) and I’m currently learning piano and vocals and music production/sound design as well (just started those as well). But i don’t own kontakt and i don’t own a realistic guitar vst they’re very expensive lol i only own the haunted guitar free version but that just wont cut it so i’ll prob have to wait awhile but you’ve given me lots of ideas and tricks in this video thanks
Great job for a live composition. May I tell something: for this style it misses change of tempo, and more changes with the drums. The guitar solo is also key. I would be curious about programming well guitar solos
Programming solos is quite a pain in the ass compared to just playing them, which I assume if you're capable of writing them, you're probs capable of playing them in the first place, as long as you're not doing some crazy shit like Berried Alive/Rings of Saturn/Jason Richardson type stuff.
i've heard about you then i play in the game "the last spell". I think what you are very tallanted musician, i very much like your musical vision and style. I want to wish you fruitful creativity and reaching new heights in music, never give up your business. did you release this track?
the basic idea is that you want to lower the volume of several instruments when the kick plays, to give the kick room. this is the basis of pumping sound in much house/techno/trance here i believe he is just using a 'ghost instrument' (plays at the same time as other instruments but is not sent to master) in order to duck (another word for side chain compression) the instruments in a more subtle way, since the kick will create a substantial duck. that was my understanding!
Salut Top ! Je crois que tu parles francais Comment fais tu pour jouer mes notes avec ton clavier midi et neural DSP. (en gros ne plus utiliser ma guitare physique et la remplacer par le clavier midi) Merci d avance

I've been doing it for a decade now, you can absolutely do it too!
@@f3ynman44 hey I haven't started just yet but I'm considering using reaper.

The clean guitar parts has a S.T.A.L.K.E.R vibe going on, very cool.

I've been doing this for years, it's a great way to prototype songs for your band
The editing at the beginning is priceless
You saved my life honestly. Im a producer and I dont have much skills with guitar

Really great work, very interesting using nothing but software to make music
There's no limits!!!!
I'm actually saving money for a snake drum.
9:20 gag had me laughing so hard. You sir, are quite the entertainer as well as you are musician. Thanks so much for sharing insight into your craft!
Reminds me of Vildhjarta - all for sake of others composition. Not as complex but same mood/vibe. That's nice.
Next time, stuff in some really heavy Hammond B3 ... the apple is f-ing red! :)
The part with the arpeggio guitars is extremely dope
Dope video love from colombia hope to see more like this
So good!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience!

really love this content Remi, keep it coming!
O U I
Thank you soo much for making this!
Amazing work! Wish I had half the skill and knowledge you do. That guitar tremolo part is my favorite, I have to figure out how you do it.
Also, will the track be released? If not, do you mind releasing the project or midi files? Could learn a lot from it.
