@@mammothaudioengineering I've been trying to figure out the best way to program drums for metal for awhile now, and so far this video is one of the better ones. Do you ever find yourself tuning the drums? I figure you should but I don't know what I should tune them to. Thank you for watching the video, my friend. I unfortunately can't really share any beats, they're only MIDI files. And besides, the point of the video is to show you how you can program them yourself quickly!
There's lots of companies out there that offer drum VSTs and samples. Some that I personally use are Toontrack, Mixwave and Getgood Drums. Check those out!
@@mammothaudioengineering To start I just wanna click and drag pre made drum songs, and worry about programming each drum individually after I have mastered samples..

Then I hope that this video was able to help you a bit! I do cover a few blast beats in here. Depending on the tempo of your songs, at least one or two should work!
It usually was a bit of both. Sometimes i'd have a riff, lay that down, and see what drums could work. Other times, I'd know exactly what works and just lay down the beat and go from there. Nowadays, I take a lot more time programming drums because I tend to go super in depth to get some crazy complicated beats, depending on the song.

Very helpful video, thanks!
Hey Cameron, thanks so much! Glad to have helped!
Hey Cameron! I just released a part two about programming, watch it here if you're looking for some new ideas: ruclips.net/video/m8c8KRvxquM/видео.html
Thankyou so much
You're welcome!
Hey, if this helped you, I did a video about drum fills and transitions! Check it out here:ruclips.net/video/m8c8KRvxquM/видео.html
Thanks for this useful video. Can you share the beats?
Thank you for watching the video, my friend. I unfortunately can't really share any beats, they're only MIDI files. And besides, the point of the video is to show you how you can program them yourself quickly!
thanks man, this was very helpfull!!
I'm glad it helped, Sergio! Thanks for watching!

Wonderful
Where can I download death metal drum samples?
There's lots of companies out there that offer drum VSTs and samples. Some that I personally use are Toontrack, Mixwave and Getgood Drums. Check those out!
@@mammothaudioengineering What would be the best for adding and arranging death metal drum samples? Thx so much for telling me!
@@mammothaudioengineering To start I just wanna click and drag pre made drum songs, and worry about programming each drum individually after I have mastered samples..
@@neoconnor4395 I am not sure what you mean by mastering samples. Seems like a weird way to me to go about writing music.
All those I mentioned can be used for death metal, no problem at all. Pick what suits you best. The one to get into the easiest in my opinion would be EZ Drummer 3 by Toontrack.
@@mammothaudioengineering I figured samples would get my feet wet
Great video, I can't find what BPM you set for all these, sounds they have different BPM
Thank you, Simon! All examples have the same BPM, which is 160.
@@mammothaudioengineering Awesome, that is what I came up to
THANKS!!!!!
The ta'dah metal had me rolling :D
Haha I almost forgot about that one!
Very good video. But so simple so it looks like I'm not a beginner yet haha ^_^ Thanks.
Thank you so much for your kind words! My best advice is to just sit down, and program along, honestly! It looks like it's a lot but you will get the hang of it very quickly, I promise! :)
great video man thx
Hey, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for checking it out!

what exact program is this?
That's Superior Drummer 2.0. The newer version is what I'm using these days, which is SD3.
what drum kit are you using?
OH SHIT, IT'S RON SWANSON!
I'm using Superior Drummer 2.0 in this video with some custom kit I made ages ago for demos.
@@mammothaudioengineering thanks a lot man lol. you recommend downloading superior drummer if you want better drums? I really liked the sounds you had on this video. And groove agent stock sounds don't cut it for me lol
@@Ron.Swanson. if your budget allows it and you know how to mix drums, Superior 3.0 is incredible. It's what I use these days for pretty much any style that require "real" sounding drums. If you aren't that experienced, EZDrummer 2 might be better suited for you since.. well, the name really explains it. Think of EZD2 as SD3's little brother. Sounds amazing too with lots of great and easy to use presets.
Thanks for sharing this. Now I dont need to look for an octopus for drumming 🤣🤣
Ha! I used to put like 5 tom hits at once together with a kick and a snare to make an "impact hit".
That sounded as good as you're thinking now.
Thank You~
You are very welcome!
I am struggling on writing drums for my post black metal project (since I am a guitarist not a drummer!!)
Then I hope that this video was able to help you a bit! I do cover a few blast beats in here. Depending on the tempo of your songs, at least one or two should work!
Maybe this can help you some too, I did a video about drum fills and transitions! Check it out here:ruclips.net/video/m8c8KRvxquM/видео.html
Thanks this helped alot! Can i ask, when you first started did you program the drums then write over top of that? or record guitar first then drums?
It usually was a bit of both. Sometimes i'd have a riff, lay that down, and see what drums could work. Other times, I'd know exactly what works and just lay down the beat and go from there.
Nowadays, I take a lot more time programming drums because I tend to go super in depth to get some crazy complicated beats, depending on the song.

what bpm are you in?
I think it's between 160 and 165ish
can you make them downloadable as MIDI so i can click and drop them in please???
How does this guy only have 994 subs?
♥️♥️♥️♥️
Sub'd. This is good stuff :)
Thank you for subscribing, my friend!
what the app ?
If you're talking about the drum plugin, it's Superior Drummer 2.0.
the holy grail for an beginner....and not a drummer at that ^^

As he went on explaining each beat I was like 🤔 ok interesting.
Then came the demo: 👁👄👁
I love you
