My son won his second race ever tonight and we drove to the track today listening to this. One day I will be that old man in a hospital bed with a smile on my face remembering 9/6/2024. Best day of my life!
My husband was in a terrible accident. A coma for months. When I finally got to bring him home. The bed was in the living-room. I would set the clock radio low, so he could wake up slowly to some stimulation. EVERY morning this song came on for a couple months. When I hear it, it brings it all back. So bitter sweet. Last year I was camping at Talladega during race weekend, and on the first morning, my friend woke us all up playing this song full blast. It was so beautiful!
My best friend and I have loved Nascar since we can remember. We’ve been best friends since kindergarten. We always play this song on our way to the Richmond Nascar race and during tailgating. We will be jamming in come end of July for the Summer race in Richmond. We will just start singing it randomly while playing Nascar on PlayStation. My life long life of addiction prevented me from doing many things. I always had a dream of taking my father to a Nascar race, was never with in my reach. My dad was dying and I finally got my shit right and was able to take him to the race in Fontana , Ca. I will never forget that day. I bought him the best seats at the very top., He took him about 20 minutes to get up there and I was so scared. I didn't think he'd make it up. But he did, and I can say with a blessed heart when my father died, he was very proud of his son who changed his life. When he passed I was making a 100k a year. Far reach from being an addict homeless, with 4 Children. I Miss you dad. See you soon pal. R.I.P Thanks for making this song Eric. With tears in my eyes and joy in my heart, your song is, simply put, my life =-)
+PaintNCreate Very sorry to here about your neighbor... I hope he was known by the Lord Jesus! I love this song and the older videos Eric used in this video. I always love seeing the everyday life videos from the early past. Pictures of the past that have so much meaning!! So much emotion involved in them that goes with the beat and words of the song... Hope you find joy in the future!
This dude got ripped off at the CMAs. An honest to goodness story telling country boy with an effortless voice. This has got to be at least the third or fourth time they snubbed him on entertainer of the year.
Hell you know the cma are a fucking joke when you look at the past winners of entertainer of the year. Eric Church don't need that award for the fans to know he's better than those guys just listen to his music
I completely agree with you. However, the numbers don't lie and it's all about the money. Garth is still bringing in nearly 80 million a year. The extremely talented Eric Church hasn't hit 70 yet, i don't think?
My youngest brother passed playing softball. His last step was tagging home plate he turned to walk to dugout and collapsed. He passed away right their. Toughest thing that happened to me my whole life. Rip Matthew we miss you everyday down here. My life hasn't been the same since u left. I love you lil brother see you when I get their.
I'd buy this man a beer. All radio stations should be playing this mans music. The voice, talent and meaning behind all his songs is a rare commodity these days. A Commodity which the world needs. If everyone listened to the meanings behind this great mans music, the vast majority would live their lives happy. Eric you are one great artist and I look forward to listening to you for years to come. Thank you
Amen. I get the impression you'd love my music. Its kinda country but kinda contemporary. I sing n write about real stuff and I write well. Give my channel a listen bud. Actually just covered this song
First heard this song the day my grandpa died. Always makes me think of the memories I made with him, and helps me to realize how important it is to let everyone close to you know how much you love them
Fun fact: Despite the song being named after and revolving around the Talladega Superspeedway, the music video is actually filmed at the Nashville Superspeedway.
@@adamsaffell2361 Ray Jackson is the ww2 veterans name. He was in his early 90s then. Eric's grandfather was sick when Eric was just 10 iirc. Id have to ask Eric or Kenneth Eric is what his name actually is. Kenneth Eric Church.
Saw Eric for the first time live in Wichita last night. Absolutely immaculate performance! Own all four of his studio albums, listened to each a hundred times and not a single bad song yet. I think I speak for most when I say I hope this man keeps writing and performing music.
RIP Davey Allison. This was his favorite and home track. In the end it ended up claiming him sadly. Every time I hear this song I think of Davey and that Texaco machine. #28ForEver
When I was a little boy I occasionally would watch Nascar with my neighbor. It was simple entertainment but I remember several of the names and I became attached to the #52 (who I rarely saw) who shared my last name and my friend liked the #2 who shared his first name, Dale (he later drove the #3). I watched little racing for years but I always loved fast roaring cars and saw some highlights on ESPN. Fast forward to 1993 and I had a dependable pickup and spent the summer traveling in the Southeast as my friend had moved outside Atlanta (from LA). On the way I drove right past Talladega on I-20 and thought "so that's the speedway; DAMN its big!" Later that summer Davey was killed in the helicopter there. Fast forward to 2007 I had just posted up in OKC and decided I was going to Talladega for October race(by this time I was an avid racing fan and especially NASCAR). It was a fun time and for anyone who hasn't gone to the track let me tell you camp in the free camping areas (about 3/4 mile from track) and enjoy a Mardi Gras like experience!! Races were good too (Trucks, Cup)
Such a powerful message, live your life well, remember every moment in your life, we only live once folks. Dont take it for granted, cuz cross that finish line and we dont know how far away our finish line is. Do as much as you can in your life.
I’m from Asia but the way he sung it made me feel like I’ve experienced the country and the tracks even though I’ve never been to one before. Man gotta do it once
@@3legend552 well it’s a form of art that with the right vessel will be able to transcend across, and country is one of it, with him of course amongst a few others too. Just wished I could have enjoyed the country
Damn, this song never really hit me until my grandpa died two years ago. He was a big influence in my life. Then 2020 happened and it's just been a rough 2 years. Miss him every day. Only made it to 66 but I think he felt like he had completed all his life goals, was always willing to help someone no matter if they had any beef. Love you grandpa Ray.
Looked up to my grandpa as well. He passed away in April of this year, exactly 2 months before his 80th birthday. Biggest role model and the best friend I had on this earth
My grandpa, Hershel L. Jackson. Biggest nascar fan I knew. Former pro racer in a western midget series, won a lot of races in his day. Passed away May 3rd 2021 at 79 to cancer. The week prior the NASCAR series raced at Talladega, at this time he was still coherent enough to speak, said to my mom “if your gonna put me in a home, just make sure it’s after Talladega” that was never an option and he did pass at his home. He just wanted one more race and he got it. I miss you so much Grandpa and I hope your in the afterlife driving something FAST and racing against all the drivers that you looked up to.
This song reminds me of my first Talladega trip, 4 friends that just wanted to go and experience it, 5 hours away we hopped in an old mini van leaving at 5am, as we pulled up to the track this song was on and we all just got goosebumps as the track finally came into view. We went with barely enough money to eat and buy gas, so when it rained out til Monday we had a hard choice, go home, or sleep in the van and come back, we slept in that van in the Walmart parking lot. We never let the bad weather or anything ruin our good time as we sat around the back of that van listening to some good tunes having our own little tailgate in that parking lot. I’ll never forget that and we all still talk about it to this day
This video, is just a simple example of what America is all about. The video shows people just living life in simple form, and enjoying it. Sitting in the back yard with family and friends. Everyone "could" have a life like this if they wanted to. Its too bad there are so many hell bent on changing this. That the old America is not fair, and needs to be changed is heart breaking. Glad my life was like this video.
same here…..years later, its like looking back at the best road trips of my life with friends and looking forward to the next one!! ahhhh the beauty of music and the greatness of EC!
@@michaelknox5976 Take it from me, you always will. But you keep his memory alive, and can laugh for him at things he would have laughed at, and get angry for him about things which would have made him angry. You are now his voice. And it sounds like he was quite a man and raised you right. God Bless his soul and you and the rest of his family that he left behind. I am confident that you will see him again.
Man this video hits home. I leave for Air Force basic training in 4 days and this video really makes me reminisce about a lot of the good times I've had growing up with my family and buddies. Gonna miss a lot. Really glad I got to see this before I leave! Rock on EC!!

I love Eric Church. He brings his songs to life. His music is so good for the soul! My husband was in the hospital he had never been sick in his life other than colds and the normal things. The Drs finally found that he had an abscess in his intestines. Anyway they were moving him to another hospital to have emergency surgery that evening. I jumped in his truck to run home and grab some close , call a few people , then meet him at the other hospital. I was crying and all upset...they said if he didn't have the surgery he would die. When I started his truck he had Eric Church in the cd player. It did my heart good and just a soothing feeling came over me and I knew my husband was going to be ok.

I thank my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for playing this the day I found out my best friend would be moving away far and I mean pretty dang far and I was super bummed and sad 😭. But this song will forever be in my memory of him and I am grateful for the technology we have now a days so I can contact him but I will miss him. I’ve had some friends that are jerks and will be good friends on and off but this specific one has always been there for me and we have been brothers for years. Will miss him very bad.

Listening to this song at midnight while driving down country roads in my 97 Chevy k2500 the night before senior year of high school starts... Why does time have to go so fast?
I remember feeling the same way. So many people tell you they feel otherwise, and that they can't wait to go to college/grow-up/etc. They aren't cherishing the beautiful times and people they are with and it's just a bit unfortunate. Keep on keeping on 👍🏼(I am 22 btw, not some boomer)

I'm far away from Tallageda and USA, however this song hits my heart every time I'm hearing it. I guess that regardless where we are living we all miss these happy and reckless days of the past...
My uncle was like a father to me. He passed a few months ago and this song was the one played after the funeral session. I haven’t lived the greatest life and I’m pretty hardened when it comes to “sad” things but every time I hear this song I think of my uncle and I cry or come real close every time. I miss you uncle Brett. Have fun up there man I’ll see you soon.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away....Memories are a cherished gift....Intense video, makes you think !
My grandparents lived close enough to hear the teams doing winter testing at Talladega. There both gone now and this song reminds of them and so many memories , It tears me up hearing it.
Man...i gotta tell you and im not ashamed to admit this song almost brings me to tears,as i remember my youth and good friends.Good times past and reminiscing,I think it touches us all in a different way,but if you just close your eyes and listen to the song your good memories will come back and make you smile......kinda squishy i know, but its the truth.

Don't know if Eric Church ever checks his comments, but if you do I want to personally thank you, Luke Laird, and the band for writing this song!!! It was the only thing getting me through Basic Training down at Lackland Air Force Base and all the other hard challenges that comes with this job...Every time I hear , "As that checkered flag was weaving" it always brings me back to my hometown, Shelby NC, when my brother and I went to Lowes Motor Speedway (great times)...Thanks for the support, I love the video!!!! It goes along way.. Can't lie it brought me to tears..
This is my favorite song by the Chief. However, I do wish this music video was actually filmed at Talladega Superspeedway. Would've been much cooler. It's a bit odd hearing about Talladega Superspeedway when looking at Nashville Superspeedway.
***** No, it's about reminiscing on great times had. However, the setting for the great memory is Talladega Superspeedway. The song isn't about Talladega, but this song is like a story, and the setting is Talladega. Whether or not it's about Talladega, we should still be seeing Talladega rather than Nashville when hearing about Talladega.
Joshua Therrien That is a very touching interpretation, but the song doesn't say anything about a WWII veteran or someone passing away. I'm not sure where you got that idea, maybe it's your own personal connection, but it is a very touching one. To further elaborate on my explanation, the song is simply about cherishing great times with loved ones. The superspeedway is just the setting for this narration. Please don't think I'm insulting your interpretation. As I said, it's a very touching interpretation of this song. I think with how general this song is (it's not specific as to who's enjoying the race, we just know it's three friends, one of them driving his dad's Winnebago), we can each make our own specific interpretations. You know, our own interpretations don't even have to be about Talladega. I cherish my days as a young boy going to California Speedway with my mom and good friend. We've been going every year since 2002. I can listen to "Talladega" and think about how much I love the great times we've had and continue to have at Auto Club Speedway. "I wanted it to be about the emotional attachment that people have to a memory that involved going to a race. It wasn't about the race. It was about being with the people there and having that escapism." - Eric Church
You know every time I hear this song I bust out in tears because of all the bad thing that have happened in my life comes back to me and it remembers me that I have to move on and remember the good things in life.
This is by far my favorite Eric Church song, mainly because the title is the name of my favorite NASCAR track, and every time I hear it I instantly think about the NASCAR races I've been to.
Brings back lots of memories from when a bunch of us guys used to grt together every year and head down 65 to Talladega back in the 90's. What great times we had back then. Things were ALOT different at Dega then and the party was 24/7 non-stop from Thursday til Monday for us all. Good times !! RIP Dale Sr. !! Sammy Biggs you're an inspiration to me now I am still addicted and homeless and I am already to give up on myself
Sammy Biggs glad you got to spend that time with your father bro. God bless you an yours....
Sammy Biggs God bless!!!
Love u my brother that's awsome
Only song that can make me cry. Lost my neighbor that lived across from me, sweet old man, was found dead yesterday in his home.. He loved nascar. Rip
+Brian Tams thanks Brian :) I hope he knew Jesus too!❤️
PaintNCreate so sorry for ya

This dude got ripped off at the CMAs. An honest to goodness story telling country boy with an effortless voice. This has got to be at least the third or fourth time they snubbed him on entertainer of the year.
I agree 100%! He's awesome!
He called Garth and award shows out i love it
Hell you know the cma are a fucking joke when you look at the past winners of entertainer of the year.
Well. It's nice to know Eric Church fans aren't sheep. We are the goats
Ohmylordy 😮
Yo really really respect you
Were all brothers and sisters in America we all love you
Stay strong soldier
What's that have to do with Talladega? Was it his favorite track?
....Dale would have loved this. 😊 #3 ...... R.I.P. ...... 🙏. 🇺🇸
Oh I'm sure he's listened to up there
Rip Dale 🙏🙏🙏
what do you mean
@@farmingdude5868 ....The Intimidator Dale Earnhardt. He would love this song.
R.I.P dale you will be missed
Amen brother
I live 10 mins from the track. Lots of great memories there. 😊
Derek Hoyt shut the fuck up
Preciate it Brah
+Derek Hoyt If you say "brah" you ain't country.

Yeah ok bruh
First heard this song the day my grandpa died. Always makes me think of the memories I made with him, and helps me to realize how important it is to let everyone close to you know how much you love them
My mom just passed away this week. Thank you this song reminds me of how good the times were when we were young. R IP mom
Thanks again Eric CHURCH for your ability to touch the hearts and life of so many people who truly appreciate and respect,& love your Music!
Kord Douglas you are a grate man and your music will live on forever!!!!!!! much love bro....

Eric Church’s voice is my favorite it’s so recognizable to me.
Fun fact: Despite the song being named after and revolving around the Talladega Superspeedway, the music video is actually filmed at the Nashville Superspeedway.
Probably because that’s where he spends most of his time.
yeah because I noticed that the finishline was on a banking at talladega the finish line is not
Yep I was there as a rigger the day this was filmed
David Roberts was that an actor or his real grandpa?
@@adamsaffell2361 Ray Jackson is the ww2 veterans name. He was in his early 90s then. Eric's grandfather was sick when Eric was just 10 iirc. Id have to ask Eric or Kenneth Eric is what his name actually is. Kenneth Eric Church.
Saw Eric for the first time live in Wichita last night. Absolutely immaculate performance! Own all four of his studio albums, listened to each a hundred times and not a single bad song yet. I think I speak for most when I say I hope this man keeps writing and performing music.
Eric Church just kills it live! I've been to one of his concerts and just loved it. He's one of the few that sounds exactly the same live and on cd!
Im seeing him in spokane washington in January and cant wait to see him!
Im seeing him soon, and even better, hes starting for Kenny Chesney on Kennys "American Kids" tour. Seeing it in Daytona beach, so excited
I’m Filipino American when I heard this song. I’m a racer too , more power buddy.God bless
It's funny how music can touch the soul no matter the color😢
@@3legend552 well it’s a form of art that with the right vessel will be able to transcend across, and country is one of it, with him of course amongst a few others too. Just wished I could have enjoyed the country
@@ryanwithacapitalByou still can!
Best part: Shooting roman candles at the man in the moon, until the Alabama sun was breaking. 1:35. Best uplifting break up a country song.
I’ll never forget that and we all still talk about it to this day
what about the liquor store you knocked off?
Same here, driving from mobile al and just enjoying life. The years fly bye just like that.
Eric Church is one of the best songwriters in country music today.
Stick0413 YESSSS !!
Stick0413 true that big fella
Stick0413 yes I you come ko
You're joking, right?
Stick0413 I always say the same thing. He definitely has a gift for writing songs
Amen
Hi my Grandpa died on December 4th that's why you love this song he's up in heaven

This guy is so genuine. You just get the feeling that he sings what he means and he means what he sings. We could use more like him.
Don't know why but this song hit me a few days ago and hasn't left
Same here. Been a week now

This song is very emotional for me. My grandpa was a NASCAR fan. It breaks my heart when heard this song. 😭

I want to say a very big thank to some of my fans for always supporting me in my music career and i want you to always make sure you keep up the support.

Everytime this song comes on I think of my son and I watching our favorite nascar driver Ryan blaney. And Ryan blaney happens to be very good at talladega.
I love this song. My dad passed in 2011 and he absolutely loved NASCAR. Watching this video makes me feel like I am back with him and my mom at the track.

Where are you supporting me from?
I really appreciate your love and support towards my aspirations, how long have you been my fan?
Listening to this song at midnight while driving down country roads in my 97 Chevy k2500 the night before senior year of high school starts... Why does time have to go so fast?
I remember feeling the same way. So many people tell you they feel otherwise, and that they can't wait to go to college/grow-up/etc. They aren't cherishing the beautiful times and people they are with and it's just a bit unfortunate. Keep on keeping on 👍🏼(I am 22 btw, not some boomer)
Enjoy your senior year. I'm 49. I graduated in 1989 feels like yesterday. I'll probably be dead by time you reach my age. Just crazy how fast it goes. Find your soulmate innlife and never take them for granted. Life will try to destroy your dreams, but be strong!

I'm trying to convince my dad to take me to the fall talladega race
I'm far away from Tallageda and USA, however this song hits my heart every time I'm hearing it. I guess that regardless where we are living we all miss these happy and reckless days of the past...
My uncle was like a father to me. He passed a few months ago and this song was the one played after the funeral session. I haven’t lived the greatest life and I’m pretty hardened when it comes to “sad” things but every time I hear this song I think of my uncle and I cry or come real close every time. I thought he should be entertainer of the year at least 3 times but he won't because he won't change for no one Eric church dude u are true country man I loved this guy in 2004 how about u I heard it I knew man I said dude u watch this guy is our savior why can't everyone do this it sucks justin Moore is another one but he don't even perform at the cmas he's probably to country I guess lol
Yes we hit the short tracks when I was a kid . And a number of trips to Talladega saw the first race there.
Everytime I hear this I see #3 doing the thing he lived for. RIP Dale driving around in heaven.
My grandma passed this morning. This songs made me remember all the good times
This is my favorite song by the Chief. However, I do wish this music video was actually filmed at Talladega Superspeedway. Would've been much cooler. It's a bit odd hearing about Talladega Superspeedway when looking at Nashville Superspeedway.
Lol same I just started saying Nashville instead of Talladega
*instaphamous dot com* got me 2,192 instagram followers so far today
Gator Jeaux the lyrics don't have to mention what the video shows the video is there to help you understand the meaning of the song.
This Album snuck up on me..... took a few listens, but now one of my all time faves!

!! Sterlin Marlin won the first WINSTON CUP RACE I went to there.
