Angrecum Didieri Care & Culture | Highly Fragrant Orchid Species from Madagascar

- Hi all - In today’s video I’ll show you how I care for the Angrecum Didieri Orchid. This is a lovely highly fragrant orchid species from Madagascar. The fragrance is really nice IMO once it mellows out. Initially it was very strong and a bit plasticky then it turned sort of floral and powdery.
This video is a care collaboration with:

The name of the game with this one is high humidity and airy roots! Also, patience, it grows really slowly! I fertilize this orchid like my other orchids. It gets cattleya level light.

I dont know why I don’t have this orchid. White flowers are my favorite. Yours is very pretty, I like it’s fragrance as well.
Thank you! I recommend this one, cute as a button 🥰 Just very slowwwwwwww growing.
Im in Long Island and grow mine in a wood basket with Leca. It loves to completely dry out! I haven’t found a scent on mine. I can get away with 10 or more days without watering! In the winters it gets watered once a week and summers 2-3 times. Have fun growing!
Thanks so much for watching! Very interesting on the scent not appearing for you. Mine is very strong. I've had orchids that others said was fragrant, and I detected nothing as well. Always fascinating how this stuff pans out. Thanks for watching ☺️
Yay!!! 🤸🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️🙌🏼 bloom 🤩🤩 thank you for keeping in touch regarding the development of your didieri, so that we get to see a bloom 👍🏼 and for the time to do this video 😘 have a beautiful day 🌸
Of course! I enjoy our collaborations! And I enjoy learning from your other care collabs. I've added orchids into my wish list after seeing you care for them ❤️
It is a cute little orchid with a large lovely bloom. So nice to have👌👏
Thanks so much for watching Fernanda! I like this one a lot, and it's so petite too 🥰
Thanks for sharing your care regimen. The flower is lovely.
Thanks for watching! It's a nice one!
Wow, you have a bloom! It is awesome... I am curious how long the bloom will last and also you did a great job describing the fragrance and how it develops :)
It's been in bloom almost 1 month at this point :)) I hope yours blooms soon too, love the mounted set up you have it in.
Awesome!!! So beautiful I knew it would thrive with you!!!
Thank you for gifting this to me! I really enjoy this one 🥰
WOW! Those roots look amazing! I have several seedlings - let's see how they develop. Yours looks great!
Thanks for watching! Hope your seedlings develop nicely
I just got one! I am located in NY as well.
It's a nice one. Happy growing!
OH WOW! : ) MISS NINA MENTIONED ONE OF THE CARECOLAB OF THE PARTICIPANT HAS A BLOOMING ANGRAECUM : ) AWSOME NICOLE. ENJOY YOUR DAY STAY SAFE AND HAPPY GROWING 😊 REAH
Thanks so much for watching Reah ❤️🤗
You always give me hope to try new plants AHAHAHA
Do it!!! 🤠
I recommend LAOrchidJohn/Louisiana Orchid Connection for Angraecoids, mostly seedlings tho. I got my Angraecum dollii from him and I recently purchased a replacement because I think I fried the roots on my original dollii, so I think he gets the rarer angraecoids pretty regularly. Also I just saw that Orchid Web has NBS/BS dollii in stock.
I'll certainly check them out! I'm interested in expanding the collection :) Thanks for watching!
Thank you for a great insight into growing indoors this beautiful plant. I have just acquired one, two weeks ago, and am watching anything that is relevant. Which way does your window face, out of interest? I am in Scotland, UK and have mine mounted, as received, on a piece of cork. I spray it daily with rainwater and feed weekly.
You're very welcome! I grow these under led lights, I have them next to my cattleyas, so I'm giving them intense light. I hear these do well mounted! Your daily sprays and feeding sound like a good plan!
Hi Nicole wow beautiful bloom great video 😘
Thanks my friend! 🤗

I've started wrapping the net pots with Polyfil pillow stuffing and stuffing it back in the outer pot to maintain more humidity directly around any roots growing out of the net pot. I received a number of seedling Cattleya from Hawaii potted in the net pots and, usually, I lose the roots that have grown out of the pot, the polyfil seems to have solved that (in the past I used sphagnum but that was too much moisture). I'm seriously wondering if Polyfil can't be used as a medium in and of itself. It would require more frequent watering than moss (and possibly bark) but wouldn't hold nutrients and wouldn't break down and it is super airy. Need to find something to experiment with....
Very interesting! I can see how it's an airy type material that can hold humidity in nicely! Thanks for sharing, this one definitely needs high humidity levels and you can tell with those dead roots outside if the pot. Good idea for an experiment!
