Q&A - As a long time viewer, I see you wear many hats (metaphorically) - Which do you personally find more rewarding - Teaching, Performing or Creating.
Ok, question for you. I've been a performer for many years, doing juggling, diablo, unicycling, acrobatics, and more. Starting to feel it in my bones now, and looking for a new challenge that doesn't punish the body so much!! Always loved watching magic, but never really tried to learn much, (watch lots of magic on RUclips, but very rarely watch those "revealed" videos!!) So, now I'm thinking about getting into magic, but not sure which way I should jump. Coins, cards, random items?? What would be the first trick you would recommend for say coins or cards?? I would like to try a few things out, and see what fits with me. Love your vids, keep up the great work!!
That's a great concept! I just disagree with one point on the video, it's when you're talking about how you can't let the trick speak for itself, and that a good magician is a good performer. Yes, of course, but I'm a fan of purity, and for me, the perfect trick is the trick that you can do without talking, slowly, with people burning your hands like crazy, and still blowing them away... For me, the finest magic can be done without talking or disturbing the spectator, if the magic is good enough, it'll still baffle them! Of course, it's better to have a presentation around an effect to make it more pleasant to the people, and even to the magician, but the core of the magic is the trick, and for me, the most beautiful magic is the most minimalistic one... And now onto the question! What is your favorite sleight move? Like the most versatile, the most beautiful, the most useful... I really like knowing those kind of stuff, Idk y, but I'm very curious of your answer!
Oh completely! But not talking is a presentation in itself, and a very good one when done right. Teller doesn't speak and he is one of the greatest performers alive!
Hey Caven! I was wondering, how can you start preforming magic? I find myself enjoying showing to my friends and family but how do you get further and get the confidence to do that?
Hello Cavan. Been doing close up magic for about 15 years, but purely as a hobby. My classic pass is pretty good and stealthy, but struggle to do it with a “non-broken in” or brand new deck. My technique is solid (I think) Bought in-depth tutorials from Justin Miller, Russian genius and Alex Pandrea. It’s one of my favorite control moves, but for the life of me, cannot do it with a brand new deck. Any advice? Regards, Mossie
Fantastic video idea! I've always been fascinated by the cups and balls trick and just purchased my first "professional" set. As a budding magician on a budget, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a cheap alternative busker pouch for this trick. I'd love to practice and perform it without breaking the bank. Any suggestions or DIY ideas would be greatly appreciated! Keep up the great work, and I'm looking forward to more magic content!
Is it just me or do you sound really similar to Steven Bridges? I know he's a Londoner now, but he was from the north I think. Anyway, my "real" question is: How do you make a trick into the "biggest" version of itself? For example, Darwin Ortiz took a trick where one card is reversed in the deck, and turned it into a trick where all of the red/black cards reverse except the selection.
I love gaff cards and would like to make my own deck of special printed ones… any tips on this? I don’t want to have to meet a 1,000 deck minimum (yet, heheh).
What magic products are essential to becoming a magician what should I buy /learn to become a professional magician preferably as cheap and quick as possible
I've never been able to perform the erdnase colour change because cards always fall or multiple cards move instead of one (essentially something always goes wrong), do you have any pointers that could help me and/or anyone else who may be facing the same issue? one of the first tricks i ever learnt used the erdnase change and i haven't been able to perform it since my earlier days as a magician as my ability to execute the move has just completely evaporated and so any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you for being a part of the magic community, i always enjoy your videos, also i was and still am amazed at your idea of the bank card playing cards, truly an amazing idea. I would also like to apologize to any unlucky soul that has happened to read this comment lacking the knowledge that i write a lot, so sorry whomever you may be.
Hey, i was wondering, what is the best online magic store? I wanted to buy something from ellusionist or sansminds, but i always herè complaints about quality of their products, so i went to another magic supplier that was highly recommended (not gonna say names) and the product was crap. I love your videos, congrats on 20k
Maby to make it even more convincing you could try and draw the lines on the side of the sponge to look like the side of the deck. A bit like the phantom and omi deck?
Thanks for including me Cavan and thank you for the answer. Got another question for you; if you could only perform ONE trick for the rest of your life, what would you choose and why? :)
I have an idea for the slo mo deck vanish! Maybe you could draw some lines on the side of the sponge to make it looks like a deck! Or, if you have a level 1 by Christian Grace, you can take it, color all it's surface with a pencil, and then rub it against the sponge so it draws lines on it! Idk, just an idea to make it look better...
If you have level one you definitely don’t need a sponge! Level one’s a superior solution and very practical for live performances. Vanish by Justin Miller also looks great.
@@allynlawson Ok, I don't know the Justin Miller's trick, I'll definitely check that out! I'm not a huge fan of level 1 myself, but maybe I just don't know how to use it well...
The beard, hair, and accent combo is the true magic. Video Idea: Film the entire process of you learning a new trick/technique/routine. From brainstorming an idea, researching your personal library, picking out the nuggets to piece together, sloppy practice sessions, then live performance. The fans see the product, the curious are interested in the process. Thank You! Keep it up!

How can you do an amazing flourish that is so good that the spectator gets blown away just by doing it
How can you make money doing magic?
Hey Cavan! I have a question for the Q&A: What made you fall in love with magic and want to start doing tricks? Keep up the great work! 👊

I’m liking the deck vanish. Does anybody make a latex deck. Anyway, good thinking, has potential.
What type of live in person performances do you do? I'm curious to see what types other entertainers gravitate towards!
Fantastic video idea!

I'm à begginer close up magician and I'm struggling with reseting my tricks between 2 tables. How can i do this without hiding myself and quickly ?

Hey! I'm creating an act all do do with how seeing is believing, and believing is seeing. What sort of tricks could I incorporate into it?
I spotted it right away Cavan, but only because it was so thick compared to a real deck. Try thinning it out a bit. Love your channel dude!
