I understand wanting to film a car chase “traditionally,” but the different camera angles and just the whole sequence makes this stand out a lot more than others I’ve seen. That’s a big win in my book.
Idk I don’t think the chase scene was that impressive. Prior to seeing the movie I kept hearing how bad ass it was. It was a standard scene if I’m being totally honest. That’s not a bad thing, it was a cool sequence. Just did not stand out.
@@icebergthegamer agreed. I think they chose the different angles to make it feel more exciting than it actually was. It worked in that regard
Nope it's not💯
I held my breath the entire scene.
I didn’t love it. It was the only scene I was bored at, because we already knew exactly how the scene ended
The riddler is such a terrifying character. At every moment you don’t know what he’s capable of.
Oh I think Kevin Spacey played that before
The riddler felt like a toned down jigsaw at some points in here, and I LOVED IT
@@SirTygr the bomb sequence
@@tppdc1495 many people have. Fair reference though.
I was scared during the movie especially in the rat cage scene it was incredible but I was SCARED terrified even
In my opinion this movie is an absolute masterpiece, this is the most accurate portrayal of the character yet and everything was so beautifully crafted.
Just got back from seeing it. I can’t put it above TDK but it’s definitely #2 batman movie of all time. An absolute masterpiece. I loved Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman
@@andrewyoung8837 it’s better than TDk.
Totally agree but I mean why do they gotta have another joker man like come on and the last 20 minutes didn’t need to be in it kinda dragged it but other than that one of the best movies and love the whole mystery case thing
@@garrettbrown3692 I don’t really care for barry being the joker. And I don’t think he’s a FANTASTIC actor, he’s just good.
@@natechenry yea but there is so many great characters in the Batman universe and to reuse the one we seen a 100 times is a bit annoying not saying he won’t do a good job but so many other options they just had the joker movie in 2019 like come on Black mask would be so sick Firefly Hugo strange Scarecrow victor zsasz all would be perfect in this universe imo
I'm surprised no one talks about the moment where The Penguin's legs are tied up and he walks like an actual penguin. Such a subtle joke but it made me laugh my ass of at the theater, and I was the only one... Felt like Arthur Fleck when he was laughing alone at the comedy club in Joker...
Damn I never thought of it like that, that's a great catch and opens up my perspective!
I really laughed hard at that moment and waiting for everyone to recognise it but no one does
SAME!
I actually noticed that and said it to the person I was seeing it with
Same!!!! I noticed it and laughed but no one else cared and I was like am I the only one who noticed that?!?!
One thing i love
The inner monologue
Batman always talks to himself in the comics. It was great to finally see a movie that showed that
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought of Bane with that adrenaline shot. I love the Silence of the Lambs idea.
I think it was a very deliberate choice for him to not embrace the Bruce Wayne persona (billionaire playboy) that we're used to. It will almost certainly be resolved in a sequel. Like you said, it has already been set up - which implies that they are fully-aware of where Batman's arc is heading.
Idk if there gonna go that direction I like the idea of a insecure hidden man that dedicates his life to his city
They will be doing that, Reeves has made it clear he’s inspired by the year one comic that shows batman without his playboy at first. The cast also mentioned how his playboy persona will develop throughout the trilogy
I agree with you. It worked perfectly for the film.
I’m surprised Sean didn’t understand this.
@@AveChristusRex789 I’d love to see the link about the cast saying that if you get the chance
It's primarily a crime/mystery noir film. Matt Reeves' take on Batman's character is about him learning to have more hope, be more empathetic and compassionate, learn more self-control of his anger, and learn to also channel his trauma into more positive things. It's the start of the transition from vigilante to hero.
Don't expect Batman in the film to be a super smart detective or fighter though. He isn't dumb by any means, but he is show as still clearly inexperienced and naive in many ways. I don't say that as a criticism.
The film really captures a Gotham with personality, out of this world. And it's primarily a slow-burn crime/mystery noir than an action movie. Loved that.
You also have to watch it on a good theater. So many theaters have shitty sound that you can barely understand the dialogue, and also shitty resolution, color contrast and clarity in the image. A film like The Batman specially demands a good theater, because otherwise the dark cinematography gets ruined. I speak from experience.
I think atmosphere, cinematography and characterization are easily the film's biggest virtues.
Well put
I totally agree with you.
Yo the last part of you’re comment I’d add the music. I think it really made the movie way better.
THE BATMOBILE REVEAL IN IMAX…
@@ChidorivsRasengan3 FUCK YES!!!!!!!!
I love that Pattinson’s Batman speaks so quietly. He rarely raises his voice because he doesn’t have to to be intimidating.
Anyone else notice the movie takes place over the span of seven days from October 31 to November 6? This movie is literally the SE7EN of comic book movies!
That was definitely an intentional reference by the director, the fact that Batman even brought up the dates made it clear
It was a masterpiece. My dad is 75 years old, and he went and saw it by himself. He said it should win best picture….
When I saw it there was an elderly couple behind me and my friends and they were enjoying it as much as us, that’s how you know it’s a good movie
Honestly I didn't mind Bruce being an introvert and a recluse, I see this movie as an alternate version of Batman where he never got past the grief of losing his parents. So he had no father figure growing up and never had a chance to learn to socialize with other kids/adults so it makes sense that he becomes broody and gloomy.
It would have been dope if this movie teaches him that he needs an alternate Identity to help the city publicly and divert suspicion of him being Batman.
Also I'm not really extremely familiar with the Batman character aside from the Nolan trilogy but he wasn't trained by the league of shadow, so his lack of stealth makes sense, it's cool that Alfred trained him instead.
📠
i agree. it was two years of him fighting crime, so he was still raw
Also would have been dope if they explained that he is the way is because he never got over his parents instead of him just being that way. I guess this Batman movie didn’t make me feel anything for him.
Fantastic film! Loved how they emphasized Batman being a detective, worked really well with riddler being the villain. Also glad they didn’t try to 1 up TDK and did their own thing
They’re so different they can’t really be compared it’s a testament to show how batman can be interpreted in so many ways and thrive in those different portrayals
Agreed. But UCF beating Cincy this year sadly
I love how Bruce just slowly walked around the room, examining every little detail whenever he was at a crime scene.
It's a great way of subtly showing his detective skills without the gadgets and gizmos of Batman in his prime.
Plus, Paul Dano is terrifying as The Riddler.
Looking at things is a detective skill? Lol you guys are forcing this way too much, at best this Batman is kinda smart at solving riddles but an actual great detective?? Lololol noooo, he misses the mark sooo many times, forgets to check under the carpet (obvious) and couldn't even happen to think that those photos Riddler took would show exactly where he lives 🤪🤪 I truly see this Batman as careless and kind of incompetent
The arc from vengeance to hope was perfect for me
I actually found that kind of jarring. I feel like Batman classically makes a transition from consumed by vengeance and grief to a shield protecting Gotham from crime and corruption. But an outright symbol of hope that will hug people, hold their hands, and just mill around with them in the daylight? That is just not Batman. The statuesque and public symbol of hope is Superman. Batman always is a creature of the dark, protecting people and earning more and more admiration and respect for all he does, but not actively representing hope. If there is a hope element in Batman's character, it comes from the philanthropy and charity he can do in public as Bruce Wayne. Really wasn't a fan of that arc resolution. Just not how I see the character, and I don't really think he has been portrayed that way in the comics or the more comic accurate stories.
I love how when the penguin was tied up, he waddled like a penguin.
I absolutely loved this film. I was shocked at how good Robert Pattinson is as Batman, and I'm so happy that Batman doesn't kill. I also love seeing a live-action Batman focused on his detective work. My favorite part might be the score though. I can't get the main theme out of my head, and I'm not complaining. Can't wait to see what Matt Reeves does with the sequel, because we need a sequel.
lol he doesn't kill but in the car chase he has no regard for human life. Loved the movie, this isn't hate
Love your pfp bro, hope we see Mr. Freeze as one of the next villains
I have had "can't fight city Halloween" stuck in my head all day...for the last 3 days😂😭
I love how this movie make me fall in love with Batman again, making him more human, making mistakes, learning, not a perfect know it all. Also starting as him being just as a vigilante, not a hero until the very end
The use of Nirvanas “Something In The Way” is legendary. This film was so dark and beautiful.
Saw it twice already. And as a Dark Knight Trilogy big fan, it kinda breaks my heart to admit that this one might be my favorite Batman movie..
I mean, just even the fact that they totally nailed the character of Batman at its core (not especially on the surface but I'm okay with that) just makes me respect that movie so much because it could have been so easy for Matt Reeves & cie to go along with a Batman that just looks badass but without all the little and big details that makes Batman (The) Batman (yeah, I'm looking at you bvs 😞..)
God this is a great moment for all Batman fans
BvS Ultimate Edition was great! The reasons behind the portrayal we got of Batfleck are pretty understandable.
It was slow and talk-ey. He didn't seem agile or anything like that. Batman Begins at least had him swooping in and vanishing like a ninja. That version made him terrifying to criminals in that way - because they didn't know where he was going to appear next. Matt's version has a lot of Clint Eastwood moments in 'Unforgiven', i thought.ruclips.net/video/KmhGYB4NdYc/видео.html..and he was almost always with the police, making the claim, "I am the shadows" hardly believable...as there he was as real and human as ever.
And better car chases were seen in Mad Max: Fury Road.
@@TheManOfTomorrow Honestly, if bvs Batman had stopped straight up killing people after the Martha moment, I could have stand behind Snyder's interpretation but no he just wanted a Batman that just is badass (sure with emotional issues), but I feel like you could have replaced Batman by another dark/edgy anti-hero and it would've worked exactly the same
But bvs had it's good moments sure, I just can't accept a 'Batman' that has no morals, or at least no evolution about it
Nah, your comment speaks volumes. it says you're not actually a Bat Man fan, you're a NOLAN, fan boy in disguise. Like so many, constantly expressing their hurt over Afflecks Version of The Bat Man. Concealing that one factor to tear down a good movie. BVS ruled, get over it.
Just got back from the theatre. Matt Reeves delivered on everything he promised. This was the most accurate depiction of Batman from the comics that I have ever seen. This movie was fantastic. I can’t put it ahead of The Dark Knight but it’s def the 2nd best Batman movie ever made. Can’t wait for the sequel!
I definitely have it ahead of the dark knight, I just love how Gotham actually feels like Gotham, the dark knight felt like it was showing a batman if he was in Chicago
It’s honestly a tie with the TDK imo
Why though? That movie is only good because of the Joker
@@bobcheese6373 and this movie is good because of Oz
Have you not watched The Animated Series? Definitely a more accurate and stronger adaptation of Batman then any movie that I've ever seen, this included. I am way more excited for the potential continuation of this with Bruce Timm coming back to bring TAS into the present (hopefully creating more of the same brilliance from TAS with possibly the addition of some more of the grittiness that now plays such a role in Batman portrayals).
I definitely think there is something to the point of Bruce Wayne being lost within his persona of Batman and with his feelings of vengeance that come with it. The way I like to look at it is that Bruce has changed so much within his first two years of Batman that he has almost forgotten who he was and therefore neglected keeping up the Wayne family name. This is even shown when it's revealed that he can't even be in daylight anymore without those dark sunglasses, he is losing himself in the Batman. That being said I think the ending throws the perfect bone for the sequel with Batman changing into a beacon of hope rather than a symbol of fear for Gotham, this could also apply to Bruce Wayne as his perspective has changed, therefore causing him to be more of the philanthropist we all know and love in the potential sequel.
If this storyline is about Batman becoming Bruce Wayne, I'll be thrilled.
The thing I love the most about this movie is that it feels like a mixture of every Batman adaptation for example, the crime thriller from the dark knight, the brutality from Batfleck and the smarts from the comics so it is a 10/10 for me
I completely agree. I thought this was the Batman film with the best atmosphere. It had a great noir feeling to it but also had the 90’s crime film vibe as well.

ZSJL can’t be considered a goddamn Batman film bro. The story is around the JL not Batman. Batman is just a tool. Just like in BvS.
The 3rd act after Falcone dies, resolves the main character’s issues. It’s not about Vengeance anymore for him, it’s about being a beckon of hope. The 3rd act is very important to what is set up about Batman in the beginning. The film is also a character study.
@@TheMrGiannisgr This doesn't seem like something worth arguing about. You know why I have it listed and I get your point.
@@TheMrGiannisgr That's kind of my point though. The plot crescendoes at a different point than the character arc.
It's the Joker dude in the ending scene Matt Reeves did an IGN interview today confirming it saying his idea for Joker is some dude born with a never-ending smile deformity who gets picked on goes crazy and becomes Joker eventually.
I think that this movie is going to be an amazing part one of a 2 or 3 part series. I think that the sequels will elaborate more on Bruce learning to be a hero as Bruce, while becoming the mythical hero of Batman, especially with the implications of Riddler and Joker teaming up and breaking out of Arkham
Colin Ferrell was outstanding as the Penguin, but can we imagine just how great James Gandolfini would have been if he were still with us?
Didn’t think of that casting but it would’ve been the best penguin portrayal ever if it was possible
@@heresjonny4107 would have been absolutely unbelievable
Can we imagine him instead of John Transformers Turturro?
I don't know how anyone could walk away from that arkham scene thinking Two Face. It was obviously Joker. Matt Reeves has even said that the laughing inmate is joker before he becomes joker
This movie wasn't just good...it was perfection in my opinion
I watched this today and this movie totally lived up to the hype. The story was well crafted, explored Thomas Wayne's history. This movie was a combination of action, crime, thriller and mystery love that idea. The characters were fantastic. Robert Pattison was great and the riddler was a compelling villain. The cinematography goes with the dark tone so well.
My score - 9/10
Just got done watching it at the theater I loved this movie I give it a 9/10
I just came from seeing The Batman, and I'm aware the film isn't perfect, but I LOVED it! I found this movie to be a perfect Batman film, and one of the best comic book movies of all time!
I really appreciate and like your new structure for these lengthy videos with chapter marks! Really helps and makes the vids better! Thanks!
Sean you saw 9 hours of The Batman already. I’m supposed to see it for the first time in about 2-3 weeks haha
I absolutely love your idea for how Joker could be used in a sequel. That’s an interesting new way to use the character.
I love how Batman becomes the symbol of Gotham that he isn’t “vengeance” and that he “is not just a signal” of fear but a symbol of hope! That’s what the story was telling and that’s what that bat-signal teaser was saying. Storytelling like that is what I wanted in a Batman film!
It felt a little forced
The better version of it is in dawn of justice(Superman)
21:38 - 21:46 I really appreciate you mentioning this kind of stuff. Most people would never speak on such details but they are quite important I think.
Nice review. The scene where Alfred opens the letter with the bomb was edited so well, was probably one of my favorite scenes in the movie.
I totally understand and mostly agree with your thoughts on the portrayal of Bruce Wayne. But I think we will come to find it was a necessary choice. To have given Bruce a major arc in this film you would have needed to take a lot of screen time away from Batman. I think they intentionally set him up as a flawed character who goes against the traditional portrayal so that we get a larger pay off when he is redeemed in later films. Also, it gives further emphasis to the fact that he is still very new at being Batman. Two years in he is still learning a lot about how to do this job, including the role which Bruce Wayne plays in being Batman. He isn't yet the wise, mature, and experienced hero we are familiar with from other outings with the character. It will be very fun to watch Batman/Bruce mature and grow as a hero/person over time.
In the end I’m glad I read the prequel before seeing the movie, knowing a bit of Edward’s motivation and the parallels between Dex and Selina really made the movie better for me
I just finished it like 20 minutes ago. The riddler has been my favorite character in fiction ever since I can remember, so I think I’m one to judge this portrayal. Holy cow. Ripped STRAIGHT from the comics with a fear factor added. This is the best CBM of all time and a masterpiece no doubt
Just came back from watching it! Seeing it IMAX and listening to that phenomenal score gave me chills all over my body. The Riddler was such a great presence and ultimately creepy. Paul Dano gave me Heath Ledger vibes with all those video tapes and that great interrogation scene. I love the length. Every scene gave its purpose and progressed the story. I’m curious what’s going to happen in future especially that mystery character talking to Riddler. Very solid Batman film! It stands outs as it’s own story
For me personally I really enjoyed the subtlety and really grounded aspects of this movie. It truly was that perfect mixture of TDK trilogy with comics or maybe Batfleck. This world is grounded and closer to realistic like TDK, but Bale’s Batman always felt a little like a SWAT agent in stronger body armor. And Battinson feels much more capable than everyone in this universe without being Batfleck throwing 200lb crates over his head. On the flip side I really liked the last 40 minutes with the nameless goons because it felt like a very strong parallel to the real world where you could have one of these freak shows on the internet scream into an echo chamber style chat room on the dark web and have 10 psychos join his cause. It felt very different from all the other comic book movie 3rd acts in the game right now, and I say that as someone who has loved tons from the MCU and DCEU. I also LOVED the last bit of his arc where he realizes the hero he needs to be, though I do agree an arc for his Bruce Wayne persona could have made it that much stronger. But honestly it’s like a 97/100 for me with that and the damage he takes being my only real issues.
You’re so talented at explaining movies, keep up the incredible work!
Thank You so much Sean for these long reviews, I thoroughly enjoy them!! Thank You for investing that time!! 🙏🔥💯🌈
That movie was a 10/10 for a Batman film and a 9.5/10 as a movie. The acting, cinematography, writing, set pieces, score, the pacing, and the plot were all top notch.
I thought the pacing was very poor near the end. Diluted the significance of the previous act
@@timfilipiuk9612 so much recency bias as usual.
Every single point you brought up in this review was absolutely spot on with my own opinions. I was engaged the whole time, which is unusual for me with videos this long, and never felt like my time was being wasted (unlike the actual movie 😂). Keep up the good work Sean.
His points don't work at all.
It was amazing, I loved the implied similarities between the riddler and Batman
I absolutely loved this movie partly because after years they finally did The Riddler again. A villain that I have always enjoyed and it was good to see him get portrayed again so many years later.
Yes, I’ve been waiting for this!!!
Gosh Sean, your amount of consistency from a creator is something I have never seen from someone before. Have been watching for more than 2 years. I’m so proud of your journey and who you are as a person! As for the Batman, I totally agree seeing a silence of the lamb inspired joker in the cell would be amazing and would break the mold of the last 10 years of superhero villains. This review was amazing so once again I thank you.
This is the best most In depth, passionate review of the Batman -and I’ve seen about 30 of them.
The way they linked the riddles was amazing
The beginning scene where ppl in the city are looking at dark corners had me instantly in love with the movie.
Great review I'm very curious to see where the next movie goes.
By far my favorite Batman film, love all the nods to comic books and characters. This feels the most Batman movie out of them all. Probably my new favorite movie, saw it Tuesday and seeing it again today
I thought The Batman was incredible, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I truly thought it was better than The Dark Knight. Pattinson surprised the hell out of me with an outstanding performance, and Paul Dano does an incredible job playing The Riddler. Such a well constructed villain and his performance as The Riddler actually rivals Ledger's performance as The Joker in my opinion.
I thought it was better than TDK as well, by a whisker but still just.
The thing you have to remember though is, Paul Dano's really only on screen for 5-10 minutes. His presence his felt, and he's magnificent, but I feel like Ledger carries TDK on his back. Where as Dano is more... Kevin Spacey in Seven. He's electrifying. Magnificent. But more apples and oranges then rivals. IMHO.
I really liked it, but I wish the Falcone reveal was done a bit different. When the D.A decides he would rather be blown up then reveal the rat, it really hypes up some crazy conspiracy (maybe like the court of owls), but it just amounts to the crime boss who has everyone in his pocket. Other than that, I really enjoyed the film, easily one of my favorite movies of all time.
I watched it today and it was a fantastic and good movie. All the scenes in it were gorgeous and the acting was incredible. I love Robert Pattinson as Batman and Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, they both did a really good job
just saw it! and I so far its my favourite batman film... maybe because its new but man I loved this
Really enjoyed your review Sean. My 1 criticism of a lot of reviews I have seen is that people always go into these super hero movies with their own expectation as to what they want to see from the portrayal. So obviously some people want to see the playboy Bruce who is completely disconnected from Batman, but I would argue that personality wouldn't have matched the tone of this film. I think there is space for character development in the coming sequels. I don't need to see an off the page representation of Bruce Wayne in the first movie of the trilogy.
I just came home from seeing it!!! Right on time for a perfect night cap!!!
I loved it!!!!
Stayed the whole time, loved the film and love getting your thoughts on films I love/am interested in!
I literally went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing, I didnt even know who the villain in this film was gonna be, so I'm so glad I didnt know any spoilers in this movie
Great review Sean! God Bless!
I never thought I would say this, but man, The Batman tops The Dark Knight as the best comic book movie! It’s a phenomenal achievement, and it has every right to be called a masterpiece! I love, love, love, love, love, love, LOVE this movie!
Currently in the theater watching it. So far so good!
I really agree a lot with your points at 34:00 regarding Batman being too OP and seeming like he is protected from everything
Thanks for the video. I agreed with most of your points except I did feel that at the end Batman did enough to show that heroic moment when he led the people out with the flair. The chase scene was spectacular. I also agree that with scenes like the explosion or the machine gun fire he could have used his cape to deflect or been more acrobatic/dodging to avoid direct damage. I really liked the vibe from the musical score throughout the film and how it increased tension and was like the Empirial March at the end when Batman showed up in the rafters. All in all, a fantastic Batman film.
Thanks Sean, you pointed out some interesting things that I didn’t consider. I give this movie an 8 because of all those little incidents that held it back from a perfect score.
Hi Sean, I've been so excited to see your thoughts on this movie. I loved your spoiler free review. I gave this movie a 10/10. I think it was superhero movie we needed. Dark, gritty and a detective movie all in one. Matt Reeves really made an excellent movie here. The Batman and The Dark Knight now tie for my favourite Batman movie.
Been waiting on this video can’t wait to here your expanded opinion! I absolutely loved it! The best Batman movie! I just sunk into that world and the cast did amazing!
I also thought it was Two-Face. The first shot of his face in the shadow gave the impression of scars, and the fact that he didn’t resemble Joker at all in terms of like actual appearance, gave even more Two-Face vibes. Idk who it is but Two-Face would be a better addition since we already have Phoenix’s Joker.
Seeing the car chase scene in the theater was awesome for me because the seats were rumbling and it looked great!
dude, I also knew the spoilers and leaks of barry being joker, and even when I knew it was that scene. just as you, I was like wait is he two faced, the scarring and focus on the one side really made me think that, I could see it
I think your a little right about the ending flood. The reason it feels tacked on to me is that it's really not foreshadowed earlier in the movie, so when it does happen it kind of comes out of nowhere. But this movie is still really great. And definitely stands strong in the Pantheon of great Batman Movies.
My favourite part was when Batman had sex with Catwoman. And then Catwoman had sex with Harley Quinn. And then Harley had sex with the Joker. And then Poison Ivy joined in and I'm starting to think I watched the wrong movie
I was absolutely stunned by the end of the runtime. This film is now in my top 17 favorite movies of all time. It is now my 2nd favorite Batman movie behind the dark knight rises. Omg there is glaring issues, I felt the runtime was long, the 3rd act felt super rushed. However I felt like a little kid again seeing Batman just be a detectivs. Just my emotions are running right now. 10/10
Man I got goosebumps when he started the engine on the batmobile. One of the best car chases I've ever seen!
Just finished it 30 minutes ago and I have to say this was absolutely fantastic. It had its own identity and was amazing. The riddler scenes in the 1st and 2nd act where he was almost like a horror character with his jigsaw like traps. It was really just fantastic. While the movie went on for a bit too long. I just wish we could’ve seen a bit more penguin after the chase scene but from the looks of it we’ll get more of him in the sequel
Your summary of knightfall and venom was spot on!
hey Sean I love your video reviews keep up the great work, just want to know who is your favourite Batman: Ben or Robert?
This movie felt more like you were batman because they very rarely show you other characters without batman being involved in that scene.
I like this Bruce... he hasn't learned to be Bruce yet. That gives room for true character development
Brilliant vid Sean!
I really enjoyed it. It’s definitely a different take on the characters and this world. I’m an avid comic reader so I could see where they took influences from certain books. It’s a 9/10 tho. It has me very excited for the future.
Very interesting points, especially about the epilogue. 1:08:07. At the end of Batman Begins, Bruce actually says "Justice is about more than revenge."
I feel like this Bruce Wayne was way more realistic and so was Batman. Of course he would have to be a weirdo in order to go out and dress like a bat. The fact that he wears shades because he’s out at night all the time. He’s just starting out so he doesn’t know how to separate his two worlds. The parallel of how people interact with Bruce compared to Batman and how Batman is seen as a freak but Bruce is seen as this hero of crime is so cool.
I loved it! The cinematography, the action, the story were all amazing. When Batman flew with his wing suit I was going wild! I did have a bit of issues with Robert Pattinson’s Batman, I would’ve liked to see some more real acting, I couldn’t really connect with his Batman, he was a little too nihilistic and stoic. I still love Pattinson. I thought Catwoman was amazingly portrayed by Kravitz. I also loved Jeffrey Wright as Gordon. I didn’t have any problems with the length, it wasn’t boring to me. The score was very intimidating and excellent. The Batman definitely lived up to my expectations, but it is not better than The Dark Knight in my opinion.
Sorry this is such a random question but In no order what are your 10 favorite animated movies of all time? And are you a fan of studio Ghibli?
I just came back from the theatre and man, what a movie! The acting the score everything was awesome!
the vibe and mood throughout the film is intoxicating and I absolutely love it.
“I haven’t enjoyed a movie like that since no way home” bro acted like that was a long time lmao
saw it yesterday and i got tickets for tomorrow, love this movie
I had a wait a minute moment during the collar detonation too in terms of why is his face not destroyed. Then I noticed that during the slow-ish motion explosion you can see his arms in front of his face. Doesn't explain how the guy didn't have brain damage, but at least lends a reason to why his face isn't burned or scarred. Amazing film. Loved it from start to finish and wish that it had gone on another 3 hours!
First off, love this video and your videos Shawn. Great work and please keep it up!
I wanted to say that I actually disagree with your issues with this iteration of Bruce Wayne. While I exited the theater initially feeling the same way, I took some time snd thought about it.
Bruce Wayne never REALLY appeared in this movie.
"Bruce" was Batman the entire time, in and out of the suit, because it is an obsession. Because the only thing he cares about is Justice and finding the Bad Guys, he doesn't feel the need to put on a persona..
At least not yet. He doesn't have any friends, the only person he talks to is Alfred, so when he is in public without the mask, he is going to be awkward for sure. I do agree with you that people would suspect him immediately though lol. I'm saying that he never really stopped working in this film, until Alfred was talking to him and having a heart to heart. I feel like we saw Bruce Wayne truly then. But this Batman has such a hold on his idea of justice that he doesn't know how to play that persona yet, and I am looking forward to seeing how they develop that in the next chapter of this story.
Have a good one, Shawn!
The only thing I didn’t enjoy about the movie is Batman being a bullet sponge until they suddenly need him downed so Gordon or Selina could save him.
You’re telling me that he can take heavy automatic machine gun firing, but when a goon shoots a double barrel at him, he is down?
Its a fucking double barrell at point blank range… even iron man would’ve got knocked back
I’m so excited to see where they take this batverse. I’ve never seen Gotham feel more alive in live action. And the dark knight is either my favorite or 2nd favorite movie of all time. The feel of this movie is so incredible and I love so much about it. Pattinson is easily my 2nd favorite Batman already only behind Bale
Idk if alive is the right word but it just feels so much like Gotham. Like Gotham in the dark knight trilogy feels more like New York or some big city which was how it was supposed to feel. But man in this movie Gotham is just next level
I prefer the Subtle nature. Love Nolan’s flicks but they feel and still do too heavy handed. Anyway, absolutely great review! Loving all your Batman content recently! Thanks for everything g you provide us! Keep the good vibes flowing!
In regards to Batman getting blown up and not being burned, it is official confirmed dc canon that Batman covers his face with a metallic ointment for protection.
I love your idea of Joker in Arkham/Silence of the Lambs vibe.
