Following a few certified child passenger safety techs that say no tummy shields or mommy belts as they are not safe.. but I am 15 weeks and honestly its impossible to keep that seat belt over the thighs in early pregnancy.. I drive on crazy high ways everyday to work so I'm struggling here.. Gonna ask my OBGYN tomorrow.

We are certified child passenger safety technicians, one of us is an instructor of the program, since the early 2000s. As certified child passenger safety technicians we are trained to not recommend unregulated products. However, unregulated does not necessarily mean unsafe. Unfortunately, innovation always precedes regulation. Child car seats themselves were unregulated for many years. It took 9 years from the innovation of safety conscious car seats to the beginning of regulations for them. Many technicians actually used the Tummy Shield for their pregnancies. As a matter of fact, the woman in this video is a fellow certified child passenger safety technician instructor in Colorado and used Tummy Shield for all three of her pregnancies. Some OBs do recommend the Tummy Shield and keep flyers in their offices. We still hear of a some that recommend not using it, but usually without knowing about how it works or the crash testing it has gone through. We invite you to read more about the statistics of driving during pregnancy and the testing the Tummy Shield has gone through: saferide4kids.com/blog/category/pregnancy-driving/. We also invite you to share this report with your doctor: tummyshield.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/TummyShieldreport.pdf

This device isn't safe. It hasn't been crash tested with any car model and is NOT recommended for safe travel.

There are no federal standards for testing even the seat belt for its efficacy for a woman during pregnancy. Review these studies that show something needs to be improved to increase the safety of the seat belt for pregnant women, saferide4kids.com/studies-driving-pregnancy/. The Tummy Shield has been crash tested in the same facility that tests seat belts and car seats. It has been crash tested in cars as much as users have experienced a crash while using it. From high speed multiple impact crashes to rollovers, all have reported good outcomes and even ER doctors high-fiving them for using the Tummy Shield as they would have had far different outcomes without it. Testimonials are on our website as are crash test videos comparing it to just the seat belt. The Tummy Shield is recommended and/or used by several OB/Gyns, emergency responders, certified child passenger safety technicians (aka car seat experts), among thousands of moms. As with seat belts themselves and car seats later, innovation precedes regulation. Unregulated does not necessarily equal unsafe. But do be aware of knockoff products that make similar claims but show no proof of testing (unless they are fraudulently using our videos of the Tummy Shield testing, which we have found).
