If you can lay down yard tarps, you can sweep as much as you can and pull the tarp out to the dumpster. They have draw strings on them. People use them for leaves.

@@BiggieClean How much do you charge for a job like this? Everyone in a 3 hour radius of me charges $5k-$10k for homes that are not even ¼ this extreme, so the people in greatest need who are almost always on a fixed income are just screwed - they're left to wait until the city or county gets involved, at which time the companies called in don't care about the residents and just care about dumping everything, and I have zero doubt that if they found cash they'd pocket it. I have tried for years to get help for my folks, and in turn my own apartment has fallen to pieces. And I don't want to call the county, but if my Dad has a heart attack downstairs, there's no getting a stretcher down there; maybe a solo backboard, but that's going to take at least 4 strong guys to lift him. I've gone to his doctor and my own therapist, and no one has had any info, not even a number to call. There was 1 company I found before the pandemic, but I can't find their info and they were 2 hours away as it was. Im glad you could help make this house into a house again. I just wish there were more companies that even did this, because I can't help but think that $5k for 1 floor that's not anywhere near this bad would be negotiable if there was more than 2-3 companies in a 3 hour radius. Not that I don't think it's worth that! I think it's worth far more honestly, but when you're broke and your family is broke, then it's like imagining a mansion; it's just not attainable.

I am in Australia also and agree. There is thousands of dollars in this. 10 cents for every bottle and can and the recycling units are in the parking area in the supermarket. However recycled things need to be clean and not contaminated. In the unit block in Japan where I lived every conceivable thing was recycled and the recycling bins well looked after with everything carefully and correctly placed. The environment is being destroyed by plastic getting into it. This is causing animals to suffer and die. I really wish more people would not drink from plastic water bottles. Drink boiled tap water as they do in SEAsia; where the drinking water is not safe and must be boiled. When going out and about they take it boiled and cooled with them in reusable bottles.

I'd get a "wheelie bin" (UK domestic bin stored outside with a 270 litre trash can capacity that has two wheels you tip slightly over and wheel easily around flat/firm ground). You must be able to get something in the USA with a approx. 50 gallon capacity and that will go through a doorway right into a house? Lay the bin down flat and shovel stuff in so it's getting full. Upright it and top off. Wheel to the skip outside. Get (or make) a wheelie bin "tipper" and flip it easily into the skip to empty. Speeds you up. Saves everybody's backs and arms. Get a few wheelie bins on rotation shuttling back and forth. Saves on buying loads of bags too - and tying a load of knots for all those bags. And not having those bags split. And not handling those bags and getting hurt by whatever who knows what that is sharp and infected in amongst the rubbish. Get bins with lids so you don't have stuff flying about on windy days. :oD

A friend of mine named Debi bought an old longline brassiere at a thrift store. When she got home and was looking at it more thoroughly she found a small hand stitched fabric bag containing $720 Canadian in old $20, pre 1970s, tucked between the breast cup and the padding. Bonus!
Another friend worked for a moving company and was given an old vacuum cleaner. I don’t remember how he found the money but rolled inside the steel tube of the handle he found several hundred dollars. People hide money in the strangest places, especially when banks weren’t available 24/7.

How did you not scoop up the money with the trash? Also, this is different to the usual hoards I see. Less items and things people have collected and more trash. How did you know about the hidden money? Did the family inform you?

After doing this type of work for years, I now no longer have a strong stomach and smells get to me easily. It’s pretty sad seeing how mental health issues cause stuff like this.

My brother does this too, and he hates these kinds of jobs. No amount of money is enough for him. It's damaging for your soul
