I really wish I had the chance to meet up with you but it wasn’t meant to be I guess… The house hasn’t been in that good of condition in YEARS (about ten years if I had to guess)!!! I have a question. Why is it that you don't pick up an emply plastic bottle and throw it in the trash? Why do you leave an empty cookie wrap on the counter / floor instead of picking it up and putting it in the bin? I know I will probably not understand it but it just boggles my mind since people are completely able-bodied any yet somehow fail to do such a simple thing and I simply can't understand why/how. I am literally a complete opposite of a hoarder but my brother is showing signs of a hording disorder and I'm trying to understand what makes a horder not pick up a piece of trash within arms reach and throw it in the trash.

    • @nottodayartt5187
      @nottodayartt5187 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@Perplexer1 someone can be completely able bodied but not able minded. Hoarding disorders are mental in nature. Some displays of hoarding behavior (especially with trash) aren't really hoarding disorders, they're other mental things, like depression or severe ADHD or something to that effect. Just because someone can physically throw something away doesn't mean they get the mental prod to do so, or if they do, the willpower to act on it.

    I have a brain injury which came with very severe depression. My partner is going into kidney failure rather quickly so he's unable to help as much. Watching your videos help me not just learn the skills again, but your hoarding level video was so helpful for me to know when I need to get a handle on things and when I need help.
    Also the fact that at least someone cares about us who struggle like this is... Well... It's rare to find, and comforting. You are real, but not shaming, and I think that's what makes you inspire people.
    And for the love of God please do check in with your parents as they age. I was just in the ER for medical observation, as they had no beds, and a lot of the elderly came in because they were found in a situation like this. It was so sad to watch not just the situations, but the interactions between the parent and child were heart breaking.
    Side note: I cleaned right after this. So thank you again.

      @@BiggieClean It means a lot to very isolated people like me that someone out there genuinely cares about our well-being, and to be honest? Not someone I'd expect if that makes sense? Your actions speak volumes about your character. I really wish there were more services, or services that ARE available and that anyone has heard of them, for people who are struggling this bad.
      There are services for people struggling in the home in some states. In mine, I have a PCA through a program not even the specialists involved in my case knew about. I wish there were a resource guide somewhere about obtaining help at home before it gets this bad.
      Where did you get the idea to do stage 3-4 hoarding for free? Was it a need that you saw needed to be filled, or is there something in your life that inspired you?
      I'm just curious.

    Please take care when dealing with rat excreta. Rat urine can give you Leptospirosis which can be fatal.
    Tip for smells from an ex RGN, put some Vick vapour rub under your nose inside your mask. If you cannot get that, mix an essential oil with petroleum jelly and use that instead. Oils such as tea tree, lemon, camphor (from laurel), orange, rose etc. Hope this helps.

    Watching this sure brings back memories. I lived with probably a level 3 hoarder for a few months. There was quite a bit more clutter then this house. She had a spare bedroom which was stacked up to the ceiling with junk and the whole house you had to take pathways through about knee high of random stuff enveloping every room. The interesting thing was they still cleaned up food and such in the living areas and kept the kitchen and 1 bathroom in reasonable shape. So its was all consumer goods, papers, and an unbelievable amount of mail laying around. If we ever tried to start cleanup up she would freak out about every little thing, "no we can save that" "oh no I might need that dont toss it." It was just too much of a headache to try and help. We would sometimes get away with tossing stuff when she wasnt home, but it was too risky because she would notice its a bit cleaner and then freak out over what might have been thrown away.

      I had a really similar experience in the first share home I lived in. The owner was an older man and just didn't want to part with anything, no matter how useless it seemed. One of our housemates needed a piece of scrap wood to repair a support under his bed, he took a bit of wood from the garage and the owner actually noticed it was missing a week later. Amongst all the crap he knew every piece of scrap wood lol it was mental. There were piles on piles of junk just lining the rooms, like plastic bags in plastic bags, newspaper, mail, jars, just so much clutter. I couldn't wait to move out!

It seems like it generally ranges from about 1k-4k, but can go all the way up to 25k for large homes, including the cost of replacing carpet and furnishings, getting pest control, and tearing out any fixtures that need to be replaced. I'd guess this guy would probably have recharged about 2-2.5k for this house, as he didn't organise carpet replacement and it doesn't seem like he organised toilet replacement. But he's also a RUclipsr and seems fairly popular, which my personal bias says would increase the price a bit. Maybe 1.5-2k from a local independent

    Man, if I had a house, I would take much better care of it. I've always been slightly messy, and I find it embarrassing, but I've never been like this. It's more just that I don't hoover as often as I should, I don't organise things on shelves as well as I could, I buy more stuff than i can comfortably fit into my room and so I have to play Tetris to fit it all in there, that sort of stuff. I do use almost all the stuff, though. Of course, you end up with some redundancy, but that's normal. I've got an entire gym crammed into my room, along with all other things, like my bed, desk, computer (a few other computers), books, what have you... I guess I'm not a hoarder, but I really still feel somewhat bad about it. I guess it's mainly the dust and filth. It might have been a month or a bit longer since I last did it.

    Why not charge people? If you were ink uk I would pay big bucks to clean my parents home breaks my heart can’t convince them it’s a problem
    Any advice?

      Because in a way RUclips is his business. By not charging he gets more videos, thus getting more in ad revenue.

      Also A LOT of people who get to this point don't have the money to afford these huge cleaning. They can cost $1000 + and folks don't have that kind of money

    Feces Explosion might be the best/worst band name ever. It would certainly limit the shows you could book, but, on the other hand, no one would ever forget it.

    I don’t understand why people hoard. Can someone please explain it to me?

    • @emilyhughes4297
      @emilyhughes4297 Год назад

      Im not an expert so I might be wrong but it’s a mental illness. The people get extremely attached to the things they own so they can’t /struggle to throw anything away (or it could just be a certain type of thing they can’t throw away) and they might have a habit of obsessively buying / collecting things. When people own too much they don’t have anywhere in the house to store it so they might start piling it in places / putting it on the floor. After a while if it gets worse they will have way too much stuff, It becomes harder to do basic tasks like tidying/ cooking / keeping yourself and your home hygienic. It then becomes embarrassing to have people come round your house or workmen may refuse to do work in that kind of environment so you might end up with a broken toilet that isn’t fixed for months(or any other appliances but I imagine the toilet would be the worse thing not to have working) so your situation just gets worse and worse.
