When they turned teens..she summoned them for a family meeting to reveal the secret about their father and asked them to respect and love me.She told them that I was honest from day one ..and she knew it and believed that we could overcome it. She witnessed my several attempts to remain straight and the suffering it was ..how it affect me so deeply. She is my best friend ..a loving mother and grandmother and now married to a nice guy. What a wonderful story. Very touching. It illustrates beautifully that marriage, love, family and relationships come in many guises. It’s not a case of one size fits all. The main thing is that both he, his wife and their children are happy. If they have found an arrangement that works for the both of them, then brilliant. Who gives a toss what other people think? Also, his story about the public beating and humiliation at school is horrifying. I’m so sorry that he had to endure that.

I think your soulmate doesn't have to be romantic. It is someone you are bound by fate to be with for the rest of your life. Some cases that does involve a love interest, but sometimes it could be more like a family member or someone who is family to you but doesn't share your blood. They are there to be with you throughout your life's journey as you are to them. To support you and encourage as well as just to have a person to just plain enjoy their company. So this relationship may have looked to start romantically, but they are still soulmates.

People who are straight or gay are manifestly unhappy with or find themselves un-aroused by people of the same or opposite sex respectively.
Their relationship is their own. It is up to him to label himself. Only the labels he chooses and what those labels mean too him matter.

Very interesting story. I wish some of these stories would mention the year and how old the person was at the time. It would be very helpful for perspective, especially for younger and future generations. There was one story I watched that happened in the 1960s and some young people watching it thought it was in the 1990s.

What a beautiful story..when my wife and I first met as friends I was living with a man I was in a relationship with she was our roommate. so knowing everything as she did she wasn't as easy going as your wife was ..i was not with my wife out of lack of options I truly loved her we finally separated I never remarried i have been in a couple short term relationships with men but nothing serious I've simply devoted my life to my children and grandchildren ..what she feared would've never happened I loved her I would've gladly spent the rest of my life with her if she hadn't pushed me away from her fear ..she has been in a abusive relationship the past 24 years ..
