I've watched a few other cost of living videos, and I've talked with people on Reddit. Lots of times, they'll say, "I live a very comfortable life, and at the end of every teaching contract, I sometimes have a little saved, too." To me that translates to, "Hi, I live life paycheck-to-paycheck." I'm glad that you said that you continue to invest, continue to save.
In the UK at the moment and WOW so expensive here. Freezing cold can't wait to get back to Thailand. Having a day and a night in Newcastle before I return to Thailand in Jan. Have a great New Year Les.
Good to see ya back Mike... and thank you for a very informative video... it was always gonna happen that there would be an economic fallout from the pandemic, just as there was 100yrs ago with the Great Recession... thankfully the global economy is somewhat more stable in 2022 than it was 100yrs ago so the inevitable recession SHOULD last only a couple of yrs rather than the almost decade it was back then! Also the war in Ukraine has had a knockoff effect to some things but I doubt that effects Thailand very much.. not only that though, SE Asia in general has been on an economic rise over the last couple decades and what used to be 'Cheap' place to live would, inevitably, become more expensive in time.. still cheaper than UK or US I should imagine but the days of cheap and cheerful long stays for relative peanuts are long gone in Thailand I think... great vid as always, keep up the good work!
100sqm for 10k baht, that's not too bad. Usually a shoebox for that price unless you go way off the beaten track. Does that include furniture and is that long term lease pricing? Did you buy the scooter outright or renting? Be interested to see a video on how you decided what health insurance to go with if you looked extensively before choosing. 500/day on food is not bad, especially with low social costs, im at least double that for food and god knows on social.
Thanks Mike! Looks amazing I’d love to go… next bull run in crypto bud.. when I’m there I’ll hopefully give you a shout… go for a beer 🍺 cheers have a great new year 🎉
Hi Mike, Thanks for the video, full of juicy info as usual, I will be there for 1 month ,I heard I need to get vehicle insurance, who would you recommend?
Vehicle insurance isn't required as far as a know, unless your planning to buy a vehicle. Car care companies will offer fully comp third party insurance usually.
This is awesome, thank you. So an entry level teach English job paying 38,000 THB would break even with no baht left for savings, unless of course they pay for housing which some companies do
Depends on where in the country you live. My first job teaching English paid 30,000 monthly. The school was in Satun which is not tourist location like phuket. I paid 5,000 for huge apartment and saved money at end of month. You could easily live on 38k if you had to.
I will be moving to phuket soon and want to live in the kathu area. maybe i can hire you to help me find a apartment? I just found your channel and subscribed.
You can't get anything for $280.00 a month in the US. It is at least $800 to $1,000 in the US. You are not living as a single guy in the US for $1,200 a month. That would be your rent in the US.
Hello Mike, I was just looking into Luma Insurance. It says it only lasts for 180 days of cover, how do you go about getting full cover for the year? Cheers

Lol, sure, I used to be teacher in Thailand and you it definitely won't make you a millionaire!!!
Most people come to Thailand to live and to just survive.
Doesn't sound like much of a cost of living crisis to me! Great video Mike and thanks for the links!
Cheers Tissa!
No one ever talking about a cost of living brainwashing here and I'm nearby! Great video Mike

I'd say services are cheap, but goods are expensive in Thailand.
Awesome video Mike! 🎉

Looks nice, can you do the same for a place near the beach? Maybe Rawai?
We have 2 luxury condo rentals, and 90% of renters are Russians. I noticed westerners tend to spend less in Phuket.
Sure, I would agree with that statement.
That is really cheap living. Phuket here i come. Hopefully it is still affordable for another 20 years.
Thailand is getting more expensive because it's on every man's list to retire before they get ready to retire!
Why wait until you retire?
Thanks Mike! Looks amazing I’d love to go… next bull run in crypto bud.. when I’m there I’ll hopefully give you a shout… go for a beer 🍺 cheers have a great new year 🎉
Crypto = Ponzi scheme.
Very informative, thank you.

Thailand is still way way cheaper then vacationing in places like Hawaii, Miami, Bermuda, Mexico, and the Caribbean, etc.
...and just if your wondering 5000 Baht is about 2 and a half 'BangBangs'... :o)
It'll be interesting to see how much prices rise as the Chinese tourists return.

Regardless of how high/low cost of living anywhere is its how much income that it comes down to.

I think the new visa policies makes people leave
Hey Mike, thanks for the update. Need your recommendation for short-rental for singles in the Bangtao area. Do you have any small apartments in mind?
How did you find that appartement? Thanks for the video

Bidenflation. Thanks democRATs.
Thanks for this Mike, can you confirm there is no local municipal tax or other taxes to pay for things like refuse collection etc?
I don't pay for those services in my neighbourhood.
@@livinginphuketthailand it might be that it's included in the rental cost, and is something the landlord pays. A very useful video, thanks!
