    I don't despise quiters like most people do. Yes, some of them have pathetic (ex. Colton, NaOnka) excuses but some still have good reason to quit the game. Each person has different threshold or tolerance. If their physical or mental can't take it anymore. I think it's best to quit.
    Some of you may argue "But you play for money!!!" 'You take somebody's place who deserve to play more!!!". Well, they didn't know or predict in advance that they couldn't take it, did they? Sometimes things were harsher than they thought and for their own sake, quitting is the best solution.

      I'm so glad you said that, and more fans seem to be coming around on the idea of quitting=bad. There have been quits that I hated, like Colton, but I feel most of them had an absolutely valid reason to leave, especially for mental or physical health reasons or family emergency. If someone signed up knowing they'll probably quit, sure, those people shouldn't be cast, but I also believe the majority of players that come onto the show don't have any intention to quit.
      Maybe it's because I'm from the Netherlands, and I'm not eligible to apply, but I just don't see it as someone "taking the spot of someone who really wanted it!!".

    The 20 year long evolution of the game I feel like definitely justifies both Jenna Morasca’s and Sue’s quit. Terry Dietz was considered medically evacuated due to a family emegency, and Dan Spilo was kicked out because of innappropriate sexual conduct, both in recent seasons. I feel like had Jennas and Sues situations happened in later seasons, Jeff and the production crew would’ve handled it better, Hatch’s behavior especially, but maybe only in Jennas case if someone back in the states tried to reach out to her and wanted her to come home. But her’s was completely out of instinct but even then I can imagine Jeff would have more compassion.

Then the torch gets laid down on the floor with dramatic music playing in the background and Jeff basically tells the rest of Morgan how pissed off he is. And as a final insult, when Lil, Sandra and Johnny Fairplay go through the Rites Of Passage at the final three they're not even given time to reflect on Osten's time in the game, because he quit.

    Lindsey's quit I agree was pathetic. Yes, she thought she was in the majority and her ally got blindsided and after that she just quit when she didn't have the guts to fight from the bottom like most people that get blindsided. But at the same time, I think she was right to quit because she could have gotten physical with Trish but either way if she did do that, she would have been ejected from the show.

Could be an interesting change of pace? Discussing the OGs Colby and Jerri, through the iconic Rob and Amber, and incorporating the quickly smuffed such as Dean and Chelsea. In any case, I can not wait until the Season 40 coverage!

    Jenna's quit is probably one of the few times I believe Jeff completely understood the reason for the quit and while it's known he gets very annoyed with quitters, saying they would not be asked back to the show, I remember seeing somewhere that Jenna was one of the exceptions he would make since her quit was for a very good reason. There are others yeah, but I'm sure Jenna is the main example of a quitter who likely would be asked to come back.

Heartbreaking situation, she made the right choice. I'd love to see her get another chance and I'd definitely be interested in seeing how she does on a modern season of Survivor

    Video idea:
    Is the era of the survivor villain over?
    Your video about splitting up survivor into eras and my love of Russel Hantz inspires this. I ultimately think that in this day and age of plentiful advantages and idols, the villain is a more risky way to play. Someone like Russel or Randy would not make it far in a modern season, imo.

    • @roger_towny_jr
      @roger_towny_jr 4 года назад

      The idea that villains in Survivor are gone is ridiculous. Here are Villains of all the last seasons:
      IoI: Missy
      EoE: Rick Devens
      DvG: Angelina
      GI: Dom
      HvHvH: Crissy and Ryan
      GC: Sarah and Brad
      MvGx: Jay
      KR: Scott and Jason
      SC: Spencer
      WA: Rodney
      SJDS: Natalie A.
      BvBvB: Tony and Kass
      If you're wondering why there aren't any legitimately awful people like Russell playing Survivor anymore, it's because people know they CAN'T do that shit anymore if they want to have a chance at actually winning. Russell proved that himself by losing twice in a row.

    • @jacobmiller8786
      @jacobmiller8786 4 года назад

      I mean yes, every season there will be players who may play a “villain role” but I feel as if that may just be the people that they are. More aggressive, etc. I do agree that Tony, Kass, and I would say Abi-Maria are some of the only true villains in seasons past, as their underhanded gameplay was ultimately their life or death in the game.

    • @roger_towny_jr
      @roger_towny_jr 4 года назад +1

      @@jacobmiller8786 I honestly don't know what you are asking for. Missy, in just the last season, was a pretty spiteful and underhanded player, and perfect proof of why you don't see a lot of people actually playing like that. Because it doesn't work. You either get found out and voted off mid way through the merge (like Missy), or you make it to the finals as an asshole that noone wants to give a million dollars (like what would have ultimately happened to Dan if he didn't get pulled).
      Most effective villains in modern seasons know they have to be more subtle. A Russell-type player cannot exist and be successful in Modern Survivor, because he technically was never successful to begin with.

    Honestly, Purple Kelly's quit was understandable- and her doing so led to the producers changing some rules and giving other women cast in her role a chance to get more clothing in the future. She had to wear a bikini and little else and she's not a big girl- she's going to get cold faster. Interviews with her teammates have said that she hardly got any sleep most of the time. Shivering and being cold saps energy, so she's going to be even weaker from there. Like, the fact that this girl made it as far as she did is incredible, considering what she was facing. She managed to make her way onto each majority alliance and despite ridiculous conditions considering what she was allowed to wear, made it deep into the game.
    If she had stayed in the game much longer, there was a solid chance she would have had to be medevac'd at some point, imo.

    I don't really understand the vilification of people who retract their consent to do something. Sure, maybe the thing they don't want to do is something other people might want to do or think they could handle better, but that doesn't mean that someone's ability to retract consent should be mocked. No means no, and the decision to say no shouldn't be villainized.
