      The real surprise with Zeke is that Zeke could be naive enough to believe the world is nice enough that anyone could go on two seasons of network TV, have a secret that newsworthy, and not have it revealed in any form of media. (Unless he was planning to come out at Final Tribal?). But as Max Dawson has pointed out: Varner may have outed him to 10-15 people, but Probst outed him to 10-15 million by letting Vatner's actions be broadcast.

      As a trans man it was probably one of the worst things I had ever watched on tv, I've been outed many times and in one situation my own life could have been at risk. The absolute depravity of Varner to do that to Zeke still makes me sick, but the other contestants reactions and backing Zeke up gave me a lot of hope too. Another one from season 33, one of the most emotional seasons of the series period. Watching David's transformation from this timid guy out of his element and way over his head to the biggest social and strategic threat to win the game right up until the final four was incredibly moving for someone who has struggled with anxiety, depression, and other forms of self-defeating mental and social issues throughout most of their life. It made me think that maybe I was capable of thriving on the show someday where I would have never dreamed of it before. Now, I'm a fairly conservative person, but even I would have given and treated Zeke like a normal person even if I knew, but Varner crossed the line by a mile by outing him like that. Even if it seems wrong to me to change genders , I'd never out someone just because they're Trans, because everyone deserves basic decency and dignity no matter who they are and who they love.

    • @tidesbreath
      @tidesbreath 2 года назад +6

      @@cb41503 Hi Chase! I was browsing the comments and just wanted to ask you about your feelings about the topic, if that's alright? I'm just curious about how your position on trans people has been formed. I'm trans and in my experience with talking with people who struggle to support or understand it, their struggle is because they apply transness to themselves. They think "well I don't want to be the opposite gender. I'm very happy as I am; I can't imagine changing!" So in a way, the idea of changing feels wrong because your identity is so certain. I think the real way to perhaps understand it more is to imagine if you had that same certainty, that same unquestioned connection, but you were surrounded by people who for whatever reason told you that you were wrong. That's kind of the crux of what being trans feels like, because the identity of being trans is centered around how other people view you differently than you view yourself, so you need to change yourself externally to help people recognize your identity more. I totally understand if this still doesn't really help haha, it's a hard topic to grasp when you're not the type of person in question. And you seem really open-minded despite not personally agreeing with the topic. I hope you continue to support others, in this case Zeke but anyone else you meet that's trans or non-conforming as well, and that what I've said can help you understand a bit. If not then no worries. Just keep having an open mind and respectful heart 😁

    i made a bad decision by watching this in public :/
    but more seriously i agree with all of these moments. i've never been able to rewatch Kaoh Rong because of caleb's evacuation. it's too emotional and reminds me too much of how i've come so close to death as well.
    when ben's ptsd was triggered by the bamboo, i understood how he felt as i also suffer from ptsd. it never gets easier. the same fear floods me everytime and it's awful but there is no cure, just things i can do so it happens less often.
    when zeke got outed at that tribal, that was my own nightmare coming to life. i'm terrified that i'll be outed to my parents and who knows what will happen then? will my mom kick me out immediately or will she just start hitting me? being outed is my greatest fear and seeing that happen to someone else, someone i looked up to in a sense, it terrified me to no end.
    although on the flip side, it gave me someone i could actually look at and say: "that's me".
    at long last i had found someone from my favorite (reality) show that i could finally look at and see myself in them. for that reason i'm glad that zeke was outed but for every other reason i'm upset about it.
    coming out is extremely important and an intimate thing for any queer person to do. for that to be taken away from you is awful. your rug, that you've finally found and you feel is perfect for you, suddenly gets ripped out from under you and now you have to pick up the pieces and hope that others will come and help you.
    i'm not good at ending things so i'll just leave it here. rest in peace rudy, we'll miss you.
