Red oak lasts a long time on the ground also, it might get a little punk on the outside but after a couple years it’s still wet inside, amazing how long it holds water.

I do Love that saw mounted camera Nathan and those wind chimes! Years back I had cats that disappeared because of coyotes. Some of my cats had been here years and woods smart. Later a neighbor said a guy cleaned out the woods of a dozen coyotes. So I certainly know about all the wondering that goes on and hoping a cat comes back. I think MaMa cat sent messages to you big time and it worked. How an Animal can survive so of the worst conditions is truly amazing. We are all glad to see her back and did wonder where she was. Thanks for another great video. I think we are all waiting for a barn raising! Blessings! DaveyJO in Pa.

@@bethfrazier414 We're so dry in my area of Coastal California, and again today, as I passed over the bridge, I was wishing we had some more monumental rain so that the dam downstream would have to release water, that would then clear away all the accumulated debris, and thin out the willows that have been allowed to clog the route, to protect a frog...uff da.

    Good afternoon Nathan,
Glad you got the 2 6" x 6" beams out of that log. There also appears to be some nice boards. When I had my millwork business, we made some 2-1/4" thick exterior stile and rail panel doors out of white oak. Those doors faced East. Fifteen years after installation, the home owner complained because one of the bottom panel on the exterior side a 3/16" check in the panel. Because I I made the panels laminated, the check didn't go through to the interior panel.
White oak will last a long time!

Learning the process. When you were sawing the 1 inch slabs wouldn't it have been better to have the grain at a 90°from the cut. Since you cut it down to the pith if left flat and cut 1x13ish then stud on end and ripped the pith out. Just curious. Thanks for the great videos!!!
