About the price increase, if I recall there was a "launch promo" the first 1-2 weeks which was something like 20% off the ordinary price.

    • @TelperionMt
      @TelperionMt Месяц назад +6

“We might increase the price during the Early Access period as additional content and features are added.”
That's quoted from the Steam page under Early Access. The two week launch promo pricing was well communicated on the Steam page, but I would be surprised if the game's price doesn't go up further during Early Access. I also expect the game's price to go up once it exits Early Access.

@@TelperionMtI bought Manor Lords to support the dev and it has great potential, but I find the price pretty high for the state it is currently in. In my opinion they should at least double the amount of content before they increase the price. Ostriv is a similair game and it was more polished and cheaper when it entered early access.

@@kloon9699I don’t really think the pricing should reflect what the product is like on day one of early access. It’s like Kickstarter, you’re paying for the potential of the product. Some games launch completely barebones, but that doesn’t mean you should get a $60 game for $7.99. You either pay the price to support the project or you wait until there’s enough content to justify the price. Otherwise people would just buy thousands of keys for $8 then sell them later for $50.

7:48 As the Granary issue was mod-related, I don't know that you can call it a "bug" that requires fixing. That's an issue caused by a third party separate from the Dev. Incidentally, the pre-released beta patch increases the saw mill's storage of logs to 5 logs - rendering at least one of the mods out there moot.

The main consensus on discord seems to indicate that a lot of people are simply busy with their lives, you need to be able to leave a game without warning due to whatever real life event is more pressing. So, yes, single player games are popular, it´s just hard to find good games with innovative game play which cater to those wanting a 15-30 minute experience with some depth which you can just leave and get back to.
I have kids to take care of and I love gaming, the kids will always come first and that has taken me out of the multiplayer scene.

The big companies often just go the safe route. While the smaller ones seem to go more and more the route that takes more work to do, but also shows more love for the product.
Larian did it with Baldur's Gate 3. While not a solo project, Larian has by far not the size of a AAA Studio. And now we have Manor Lords.
And what both games share already, that they are all over they internet and everyone gives them credits for how much love went into both.
Don't get me wrong, it's not like games from AAA studios are made with no work effort and all are bad. But considering their resources, compared to the developers I talk about, it is a shame they don't aim for more.

Im 60+ hours into my first playthrough and ive only taken 4 regions. I haven't reset once, just took the land I was dealt and learned by making mistakes. Imo I think too many people are trying to speed run it. Its a slow paced game. I'm basically playing at normal speed, only speeding up for Harvest for example, then i'm just casually micromanaging everything. I understand the bugs and little nuances with trading and it just adds to the challenge. There is so much potential left for this game considering its BETA. Its definitely longer then a 10-15 hour game. My only worry is if my computer can handle any upcoming updates / additions. Having multiple AI on the map sounds amazing but I doubt i can handle it spec wise.

    2.2M!! 🤯
Glad to find out he sold 1M copies at launch, but that figure has since plunged to 10k concurrent players.
    Some thoughts I had:
    - game is quite pricey for an early access product
    - establishing supply chains hinted at lots of micro-management
    - ironically, I learnt from watching youtube videos that gameplay involved expanding within starter region, then expanding to nearby regions, which means the micro-management thing is COMPOUNDED
    - youtube videos also highlighted the amount of supply-chain/resource upgrades needed to equip a small squad of farmers
    - no multi-player
    - even if in future eg. each map (every region conquered) becomes a "player kingdom" that other players can invade, it's still an isolated instance. But this type of PvP model I don't mind at all.
    - as is, it's really a game for hardcore city-builder nerds, a niche compared to the Total War crowd
    - being a solo indie project means it's probably going to have lots of missing features, lots of features that are shallow implementations, that either don't really affect or have oversized effects on the outcomes (ie. make or break)
    - 👍👍 for CHURCHES 😊😊

The game has about two months left before it will start to rapidly decline in popularity.
Facing 1 AI opponent is obviously not enough, there is no strategy, at least 4 more AI opponents are required and the number of regions increased. The land available in each region needs to be reduced by about a third, making for tougher decisions about where to locate buildings etc. More resource types need to be put into the game, say 5, with each region containing only 2 of these new resources to create objectives and conflict. The game is half of what it should be, yes it is early access, but the player base isn't going to play it in its current form for much longer.
