@@Legoman775 out of interest i looked the numbers up. Men of War 2 got 198 Players while Assault Squad 2 got 1000 Players. They should listen to the community
the bad you did... I bought the game and can't stop playing since then. I have also, almost 1000 hours in both, MOWAS1 and MOWAS2 as well, almost 300 hours in Gates of Hell. The negative reviews were wrote by retarded people.
Yeah you pretty much nailed it. There's no saving a recycled, failed live service game skeleton, reanimated to pretend to be a mainline sequel to the beloved franchise. They could literally have remade AS2 with all of it's previous problems but in the modern 64-bit engine and we would have loved it. They could have improved on the formula to bring something new, not even trying to be as hardcore as Gates of Hell. They did neither. Even if this new release WASN'T always-online, I'd still be disappointed at it. But it is, because again, it's just a recycled free to play game.
@@Overxpossedi played the beta and it was horrible and from what i can see its still exactly the same game with all those issues. I am not even talking about game design but all those bugs and all the jank and clutter.
Every Men of War game used a lot of recycling. It's 2024, a lot of games are live service now. Making a game use a diffrent engine isn't as easy as it seems. As we see, team behind MoW2 is pretty dysfunctional considering that barely anything changed in 1.5 year. You expect them to change engine? What's there to improve in this formula? They added coop support and you still mad. It either needs to be reinvented or kept as it is. From what I see it's strange that you dislike this game. It's just more Men of War... you didn't wanted it? Again, every Men of War is a recycled game... nothing changed!
@@maverick8697 because people is saying so... But these people have no criteria to compare. From the beginning, MOW2 has a better, updated rendering engine than GOH, so the first thing you notice that is better is the graphics section.
@@dragonace119 Well, the game has classic mode, so you can kinda experience a modern assault squad 2 lol, minus the sponginess of troops that as2 has and short ranges which made mp battles meh, unless you used mods like robZ.
I loved every part of it but the shade of green on some of the grass on one of then levels was slightly off. So left a 'would not recommend' review. I'd played for almost 7 minutes.
who cares about voices in a game like this. The axis ones sounds fine to me, the usa ones are alright, then again english is not my main language so it's probably why I'm not so picky about it, Just lower vol or get over em, nobody plays these games for the voices. That's just another thing those that bash mow2 like to bring up, as they all do, bring only negativity and disregard anything good.
@@Sol4rFl4r3 the voicelines are one of the most important part of RTS games, because you hear them thousands of times. There is a reason, why the most memorable RTS games also had the most iconic voice lines for their units.
@@Varichan they re alright in this game, i play axis and they sound fine, think there s an workshop mod that supposedly changes the voices around as well
to comment on the feedback part, its because of Fulqrum publishing that systematically hunted down anyone that had anything negative to say about the game and either banned them or harassed them.
for me during beta tests mow2 had few problems. 1. issues with server stability. 2. players focused on ww1 trench warfare. 3. artillery spam with tank rushes. 4. problems with soldiers inside buildings. 5. fellings that gameplay is more casual.
Call to Arms - Gates of Hell Ostfront Is soooo soooo much better and it is pretty realistic and the sounds to gameplay is so much satisfying but the only downside is you gotta buy the dlc's to get the new factions and missions and etc .. but still worth the money ..
nah, GoH sucks. It runs on an ancient engine which is prone to crashing. The most common crash you would encounter is "failed to allocate memory error" lol

To be fair with nothing new in MOW 2. They basically haven't changed anything since their first game back in 2004. UI, units, game engine, etc. It's all basically the same, with only a slight improvements on each iterations
It's a good formula. Changing it too much would make a different game. Mow2 is different from all aspects and in no way "a small upgrade" form the previous games, while it still maintains the main formula. It's a better game than MowAs2 especially for multiplayer enthusiasts. AI is also better which would make single and whatnot a better experience. Plus more mods are coming.
@@Sol4rFl4r3 Whats better because with games like this there are 2 things the community usually cares about and its graphics and scale and neither improved in my eyes and if so its so marginally that it doesn't matter. Id expect the graphics to literally be night and day different and id expect the scale to be 2-4 times greater with bigger maps and better engine to handle more units
ngl i love men of war 2 cause the graphics are way better than assault squad 2 and you can dig trenches, i love german tanks also i may have pirated the game. maybe.
Seems like most people bitch about the multiplayer .I have every single game from this franchise. I think this is a decent game. Is it what I was expecting no. But it's not as bad as everybody is saying, especially on steam. I found a lot of the negative reviews where like b.s. I. Think a lot of people were expecting a assault squad 3 kind of game and they didn't get it.
My issue is there isn’t a First person down gun sights I really loved that with Call to arms, and the Stupid CP on campaign like bro what do you mean I can’t capture every single tank and vehicle
I chatted with some of their devs and community managers and told then what would be bad about the game but all they said is "but lool we have this cool system now" everytime i brought something up.
I think the trenches look narrow and cheap, like they're from a mobile game, I like how fluid they are but wish they looked different, but that could be said about a lot in this game
Everything has to be multiplayer now for people to care it seems. Annoying as heck is the that someone will spend 20 minutes talking about the MP parts of a game and barely brush on the single player. So tired of it.
3:20 It might be 5 player co-op. I'm pretty sure so. The battalion mode is 5v5 pvp and pve and I think that extends to the other content when creating lobbies. The player count is one of the things I like, given that it takes even more heat off players who might want to use support style tactics like recon, fortifications, time for logistics and whatever else.
The creators of Men of War could have kept everything as it was in Men of War: Assault Squad 2, just improving the graphics, textures, engine, animations, and adding more objects, items, vehicles, realism, and ragdoll physics for soldiers. That’s it - it would have been the best-selling game ever! Gates of Hell is the savior of this franchise, though the downside is that it has few factions and a somewhat empty workshop. However, everything else is amazing, and you can even play in first-person mode. Using the editor, you can recreate a true Call of Duty 2-3 vibe!
If you are looking for more realistic combat game, you might want to take a look at the Combat Mission Series, Healthbars dont exist there, its however absolutely unforgiving, when you make a mistake, And it really leans into the direction of a hardcore tactic simulator. It can be played real time or turn based (We-Go). Maybe best description would be if ARMA was a strategy game. Its however an older game, but when you get used to the U.I. and the way you give orders nothing compares, the simulated detail and scale is yet unmatched.
Health bars exist in every game, CM just doesnt display them. And honestly, I wouldn't give Battlefront a dime until they update their engine. Been milking it with exhorbitant prices for too long now...
The discourse surrounding Gates of Hell is really toxic. People praise it to high heaven or really dislike it. Personally, I think it has great graphics and a good atmosphere, but it is badly optimized, buggy, and has really bad AI (which is something the entire series suffers from). I also wish they expanded the dynamic conquest mode. It is bare-bones, and the AI cheats extensively.
@@kloon9699 Honestly, I don't think people can complain about optimization after all the updates. My rig is 5 years old and sure, when the game came out, it struggled, explosions made my computer choke and obviously the missions would have issues with scripting. But nowadays it runs really well, I haven't compared it to MoWAS2 but I'd say it should be around the same performance for a much more graphically demanding game. The AI, I agree, has always been an issue with these games. And I don't know how the could improve on it. these games are very hard to code especially when the player can control individual units but the AI can't. And yeah the dynamic campaign could use some work. It's annoying that you have to choose an opponent and stick to fighting them. I'd rather have battles vs random opponents. It's still quite a fun mode that extend the life of the game. There's only so much that you can get off the skirmish mode and multiplayer is a personal choice. What I hate to see is attitudes like one of my Steam friends. Keeps complaining that MoW2 is crap but if I tell him to try out GoH he goes into a frenzy about how the game is dogshit. he hasn't played the game since the release and there's been tons of free stuff added to everything since.
@@ayuvir there's no reason to play goh, really. There's no dedicated servers so mp is literally unplayable, and company is just defend/attack for 40 minutes straight. Mow2 is really bad game, but it at least has matchmaking, so i don't have to find a match for 2 hours with laggy idiots and single player campaign is much better in mow 2
@@ayuvir wdym "same issues"? Mow2 has matchmaking system, so each time i find the match in 1-2m or less... It's impossible with lobby system. I don't really care about goh shitty campaign, but combined with lobby mp system i really can't play both mp and sp properly... If goh had dedicated servers then, obviously, there would be no reason to even play mow2. Unless they do i can't even say that goh is a "game". I had much fun playing goh with my friend 1v1, but that's it... I can literally have same experience with robz realism mod in AS2. I think many people hate it for same reason.
Men of war was the first strategy game i played. i was 5 or 6 years old that time. And when i played this game every time i fell in love with it's storytelling campaing with all that animation and cinematics. Just imagine a Strategy game connects a one soldier, alexei kuznetsov (name could be wrong) with the player himself. I guess there is no other rts game doing that at least i never played one. With the assault squad men of war lost it's soul with campaigns that there is no story behind it and with the same map/mission logic but diffirent cosmetics and factions. Even Gates of Hell lacks that connection between story and player. Men of war should be men of war again and stops to trying to be like Company of Heroes and they must start to make great campaigns with personified storytelling, gameplay and cinematics.
Call to arms was made by the same people who made MOWAS and MOWAS2. There are basically 3 or 4 companies involved here. Best Way, From Ukraine, the original developers. they made the predecessing game called Faces of War. as well as MOW, MOW Red Tide, and MOW2. 1C, A Russian publishing company that Bestway used to work with, I think they were directley responsible for some of the spinoffs like vietnam, and Condemned heroes Digitalmindsoft, a German company that made MOWAS, MOWAS2 and CTA Barbed Wire, a Spanish company that made Gates of Hell, but couldn't or wouldn't purchase the licensing fees for the engine, so the game was put under the digitalmindsoft Call to arms umbrella.
It seems to be the new normal, that games released in "not ready but playable" or "monthly patches and updates" states. MoW2 seems like it will follow that same path. I understand a lot of the frustrations, but I still have hopes for it and I expect the overall game to improve in the coming months and years when updates are released.
imagine being a dev of a hyper-niche genre WITHIN a niche-genre, and unironically putting 15 year old defunct mechanisms (always online) into your product
imagine not actually doing a bit of research and realize that they've promissed an offline patch, which makes all whining useless because we're all online 24/7 with no ceasing on that. So whining about that while offline was announced just shows ppl need to whine about something.
Gotta say I'm really enjoying this game. 20 hours in so far. Overall the gameplay is improved and smoother. Yes there are some things that I would like for them to fix, but on the whole it is a better experience than Men of War Assault Squad 2. I think the best part is the battalions/regimens system that brings in the deck building aspect, and becomes even more fun when you are teaming up with friends and building decks complimentary to each other.
@@MlgKronks69 I have +600 hours between MOWAS 1 and 2, plus +600 hours in COH3 plus almost 300 hours in GOH, almost 70 hours playing Men of War 2 sinceit was released and I can say Men Of War 2 is the best RTS of all times.
The game also just looks really bad graphically, if anything it almost looks worse than assault squad 2, the animations of some of the models are just awkward and stiff looking also the Voice Acting is just tragically bad, at least from what I've seen of the US VA
lol i don't think you have played the game if you call Assault squad 2 better looking. Also go play a round of AS2 online then mow2. First of all, in MOw2 units are not bullet sponges, tanks don't fire up to 100m and soldiers don't need to be at rifle length to shoot eachother.
@@Sol4rFl4r3 lol spot the angry game dev! Good job reading my comment, I clearly said "almost" and yes, I have played AS2, a game with nearly comparable graphics that came out years ago. There's absolutely no reason for this gsmr to look this bad in 2024.
@@VitaminsB1212 come back after you've played mow2, the graphics are far from comparable to Assault Squad 2, you probably watched youtube and not really played it. If you claim the graphics are "so bad" then you're clueless. RTS games should look like cyberpunk innit?
As someone who owns all three games, I'm already really digging MoW 2 and all the changes it brings. I've had no disconnects so far, and 90% of Rimmy's video and opinion is based on the non-realism game mode and therefore practically useless (like most of his content tbh). I've played nothing but realism so far and while some vehicles do need their speed tweaked, it's still brutally authentic. It adds light base building, Tons of new ways to fortify defenses, a dedicated trench system that you paint like a road in Sim City, amazing animations compared to even Gates of Hell, squads can finally move and fire, scouts are given new mechanics to be more useful, multiple different air strikes, a TON of single player content: 3 story campaigns, 3 campaigns more in the style of AS2, 4 long term procedurally generated campaigns where you research new units as you fights on (I LOVE this) and a smaller version of that mode that called Raid. I haven't even touched PvP yet and people are saying it's an improvement. Honestly think the negative reviews are blowing things out of proportion. No excuse for the always online or for putting the realism mode under package options, but other then those two problems which never affected me, it's really a great sequel.
@@Bobo-de3il exactly... it took me about 10 hours probably, to figure out that the game gets better. Of course, I fugured the game worth my money in less than the free 4 hours.

I'm not trying to change your opinion just telling why people think MOW 2 isn't worth it and is a real slap to hard-core fans. 3:05
@@stormy1055 Agree on that, the devs could make it much better, but I won't think they didn't just because they didn't want. People mostly complain for the internet connection thing.
When i look at Men of War 2 it takes me a min to even realize its a 10 year sequel to Men of War Assault Squad 2. I find it hard to see what they upgraded or made better!. . . . Like I know what I was expecting, better graphics and bigger scale with better game engine to handle the massive scale of units and size of maps. What we got I cannot tell from the graphics that its really any better, and the scale seems to be the exact same as Men of War Assault Squad 2, so what is the point of the game? They made a new game of the old game that has bugs and issues that the old game did not, with no significant improvements and less variability, units and factions ...... like it is literally a downgrade from MoWAS2 in some areas and equal in others. I fail to see where it is a upgrade!? What am I missing???
man the game would be fine if they didn't build their long awaited sequel using what was left of the obscure mobile ass type game they had going like come on they own gates of hell all they had to do was USE WHAT THEY HAD THERE, they could avoid so many headaches regarding the "singleplayer patch" just by not going with that base for their game like that's the whole reason why the "always online" is a thing, simply because the game they used as a base wasn't made to be launched offline so they're making that mode from scratch
I think the game is excellent. I also think the many people writing 'All they should have done is released AS2 with new graphics', would in reality have been disappointed if they did. So many review on steam from people that absolutely hate it, play time, less than 6 minutes :( Also secretly most people ACTUALLY hate always-online because it makes it really difficult to pirate. But no-one can say that out loud.
Oh, good grief! Well, I suppose videos like this provide a sounding board for the usual GOH attack squad. Personally, I've played Soldiers: 'Heroes Of World War II', 'Men Of War', and 'Men Of War: Assault Squad 2', and I really enjoy playing this.
Got the game on release day. First timer in the series. The controls are overwhelming. The ai is definitely legit. Been playing a week on the campaigns and still getting my ass kicked but im getting better. The only negitive are its a little buggy with things just disappearing. To many useless intros that are too long. It could also communicate what needs to be done in the missions better as there can be several objectives. Overall though, its fun and i have logged in for a least a little bit everyday.
I am also a first timer. The controls are a bit much but I'm used to being overwhelmed from games like stellaris. I did t like the game the first 3 hours, but I kept pushing and I now look forward to everyplace session. I think once you start getting passed the UI, the game becomes very enjoyable.
I bought the game at a discount and just couldn't go on for more than a few minutes. It's just not Men of War that I know and love and like many have said, it's better if you save the suffering for those who like the previous games and go and buy Gate of Hell 😐
Feels? But genuine question, have you played mow2 or that's your opinion based on youtube. Idk what realism is to some people but by default tanks in mow2 can shoot across the map, that's far from "arcadish", it has the same system of modular components on vehicles. Ai is better, units can shoot and fire etc. So idk how that makes it arcadish. Please don't even mention the "HP" bars.
@@Sol4rFl4r3 I have played it so Idk where you are trying to get at?? Gates of Hell is on so many greater levels, sound design perfect, if you believe if I'm refering to MOWAS 2 no, MOWAS 2 will always have a place in my heart, not this new game where you have absolutely no offline support yet I'm still clinging hoping they push this new development team to go further I aint give up on it, yes it's a new game, yes it's still whatever game companies call "early access", yes there are plenty of bugs within the game with certain units you are trying to utilize, sound design wise it doesn't sound as great. Definitely does feel recycled for the amount of time they had and many people anticipating this game.
I think that game only needed that better AI pathfinding. I mean that the soldiers you move would have some brain to take cover and jump over the fence automatically and in attack they would give each other covering fire etc. I have played showw2, faces of war and men of war and I think all those game had that problem. Not sure how it plays in mow2 though but I think it's almost the same. too much unnecessary micromanagement. And I see from the videos that if you move squad soldiers are too close to each other so one grenade can take out the whole squad.. etc. I don't know maybe that kind of gameplay is not easy to do though?
Another example of a developer dying. They Remind me of EA and Battlefield 2042. That's okay. Gates of Hell will own this, and it's their own damn fault they will lose the player-base.
Isn't it funny how the same people keep defending Men of War 2 over and over again? If it IS true that tanks have health-bars and not at least more than just tracks being broken, then I'm already not down for it. Plus the Steel Division over-time call in system is just... not men of war at all. Gates of Hell is not perfect, but considering it and AS2 already exists... why get Men of War 2? It's like having Halo 1, Halo 1 MCC and Halo 1 Remake. WHY get remake unless it's actually... like an innovative and interesting game besides like ONE feature?
This was the reason why I bought a new pc and well, I was disappointed, to be honest but yes, I like the game. The genre of the game went in a different direction and my opinion is not as good, as I thought it was going to be.
As someone who has 850 hours on Mowas2 there is just no way i'm switching to Mow 2. Yes Mowas2 has problems but it's in way better shape then Mow2, Plus Mowas2 has hundreds of amazing mods to choose from
Better shape? Where? When? The multiplayer in mow2 is superior from matchmaking to stability and what not, especially gameplay, you even have the classic mode. It also has a future. Mods will come and expansions for sure. If you claim you won't switch to it, then how can you claim it's in better shape than mowas2 lol, you remind me of people who still play cs 1.6 over cs2. Not that cs 1.6 is a bad game but seriously.

a BIG chunk of those "fans" are just GoH haters spewing BS. speaking of misinformation... first of all, there is lots of differences between this and mowas2. some positive and some obviously negative. but out of the positive, they did innovate on the gameplay and QOL quite a bit. to name a few, infantry can now run n gun, auto hope fences and walls, dig modular trenches, stay in formation, vehicles can entrench themselves, buildings are kinda usefull now, uints can retreat out of the game to be called another time, airstrikes!! and more... it is 5 player coop. yes, i miss the commonwealth. but GoH had only 2 factions at launch. its not COH3 with 10 units per factions. we still have enough units per faction here so that they feel complete enough. i am with you on the always online part tho. even if i play the campaign in coop. there is a similar HP system in GoH. previous mow games also had hp on tanks. (even if mowas2 had RNG). HP in mow2 is purely visual, can be disabled in the options, and the realism setting don't show hp. this argument against hp on tanks is stupid! UI is ugly, yes. but wtf are you talking about it making no sense? it is serviceable and all buttons are usefull. and in all honesty, it is less intrusive than in mowas2. especially the minimap! they did ignore most issues we had with their new battalion gamemode. but instead, they created a new one called classic with a new setting called realism. and that classic realism is exactly what us, mowas2 players, asked them. yes it is not perfect. but if you hate battalion that much, just don't play it. there is other gamemodes out there. we are forced to play with the battalion system for singleplayer tho.
Unpopular opinion but as someone who has grown up playing Men of War games my entire life I've really been enjoying Men of War 2, and I have assault squad and GOH, but MoW2 feels fresh, especially with air support.
@ANIMshit the game is cheaper than MOW2 when it's on sale. It's basically 5 bucks only and it's dlc around 3 to 6 while MOW2 is gonna sit around d on sale for still 20 bucks
I like it. It's better than COH and the tutorial in this is better than men of war assault squad. And being 100% online is normal for almost every game I play.
why are people angry: because it sucks. the controls blow, it feels just as janky as MOW (except worse somehow} the improvements made are so minor and the ways the game got worse are HUGE.
I will agree with everything but he health bars. Its a bad lie that people keep repeating without knowing. It is just the health of your hull same as all other MOWs. Not the whole health bar you can still disable and shoot certain areas on vehicles.

I just wanted a Men of War/AS2/GoH but fancier. Better Graphics, Sounds and actual Animations for Soldiers. I hate that the Soldiers are soooo stiff. Also Performance is god awful even without Mods. Did i ask for too much? Apparently. Because Men of War 2 did nothing i asked for, but did things actually Nobody asked for. :(
I mean, in what way is it fun to have to manage equipment on the individual soldier level? I get the appeal of managed logistics, but micromanagement at that high level is just tedious.
thats the appeal of every game in the series tho. We like tedious. This is just stupid. MOWII is the least tedious in the series. Go to gates of hell and it gets even more tedious with each faction having their own ammo types so you cant even loot enemies for rifle ammo
that game recieves too much unjust hate. It has things to be hated, but primarely its just older players from mow:as2 that are upset that mow2 is not similar to mow:as2 in its gameplay. a bit sad.
exactly and I'm certain some youtubers got mad and started the hate train based on their ego where the devs "ignored" their suggestions most likely, their ego couldn't take it. Smh people should develop their own games lol.

3:00 Honestly to me it doesn't feel like AS2 at all. If it did I would at least feel somewhat happy with my purchase. Instead everything feels ten steps backwards and 'off' in a way it can be hard to describe. Infantry feel like pointless cannon fodder. Vehicles are overly fast and the armour/penetration system leads a lot to be desired (even on the realism mode they harp on about). The regiment system leads to so many problems and feels like you barely have enough units. Even the 'classic' mode has problems. Repairing your own tank or At gun? (which somehow hasn't blown up - so many unnecessary ammo explosions too but thats another point) well you better be sure you haven't called in another unit in that time otherwise you are hit with the 'Not enough CP to use allied unit' message....because that's fun. Shooting an enemy with a machine gun on your tank via direct control? Well better be sure they are in range otherwise you will recieve a dumb message saying 'too far'.... like literally what the fck. Gates of Hell is better in almost every aspect. There are some things I like, Custom trenches and Bunker building etc but these take a long time to construct to the point where it feels like they don't gel with the fast pace nature of the game. Like I'd just want this in Gates of Hell. It's awful decision after awful decision to the point where it doesn't feel like Men of War and this is before we even talk about always online and the steep price of the game. It's baffling.... Honestly my only hope is Gates of Hell's continued development with further expansions/DLC's.
I never understand, what people mean by "it dosnt feel like men of war" do people even know what men of war was ? If they did, they would say the same thing about gates of hell as well lol Also, you cant compere mow2 and goh, they are two different games that where born from old men of war, none of them are like old "men of war". Your whole comment shows a person who don't know how to play the game. If you have a user name pass it so we can play few matches; I'm pretty sure you will get how it works.
@@Overxpossed based on this comment and the others that you've said on this video. There's no way you're serious. You have to be one of the devs or something. "MOW2 demands new strategies." This is so unironically funny. You're acting like I've played 10 minutes and written my original comment. I've played every mode in the game and I'm well aware of how MP and CP limits and echelon stage dictate the amount of units. That doesn't stop the overall feeling of having essentially nothing.
I believe the reason it feels more "arcadey" is because there's been an overall decline in the appeal of strategy games. There's been a trend the last few years among gamers where the importance of strategy and thinking in a game doesn't matter as much so why would game developers focus on something a small portion of gamers care about? At the end of the day, they're trying to sell games and make money so trying to appeal to a wider audience and sell more copies makes sense.
I get legitimate complaints, but complaining about only having three factions in the first full week of launch is insane. GOH took a long to get its 3 countries, and the USA came at the beginning of the year. Also, if you don't want HP bars on the tanks, turn on realism mode. I can understand your other qualms, but those are ridiculous.
No "realism" "classic" mode bullshit, the game should be realistic at its core. That should've been the base game and that should be the main focus, not a "game mode" which will be forgotten as it is easier to lean to more arcadey players.
Well, who would have thought that a Ukrainian game studio would make some really disgraceful game. Never happened before and here it is again(Cold war never existed). BUT WE MUST! I REPEAT! There's another youtuber who bashed this game and same as you, talked a lot of missinformation and bs, worst culprit being, bringing only the negatives and making sure to emphasise them. For instance, the whine about always online, they literally straight away said, offline is coming. If you feel the need to still whine about it then please stop, you're online 24/7. As for the UI being bad? No it ain't. Graphics look better than the previous games, the multiplayer is more stable and runs better with no slowdowns and rubberbanding. Tanks can fire across the whole map, infantry can fire at high ranges, they're not bullet sponges either like in AS2 which most ppl keep bringing up. Also as much as I like GOH, people are being so biased, that game came in 2021 and had a lot of patches /expansions unlike mow2. Again, I don't understand how the UI is arcadey when compared to the previous games. Also tanks always had healthbars, just hidden, GOH has it too. They just display some of it here. I have no problem with people disliking a game, but when someone hates and the rest join the bandwagon just to hate and exaggerate and spread a lot of bs it's annoying. Also expecting devs to do as the community says in every instance is crazy. If you ask 50 people what they want, they'll each want something, you can't please them all, I guess some youtuber's ego got hit cos the devs didn't play their tune lol, then it started this rollercoaster of hate that I see everyone joins, nobody wants to be different right, gotta go with the crowd. It's sad because all the negative pushes people away from the game, guaranteed a lot of em would enjoy it if they weren't biased.

It's a good formula. Changing it too much would make a different game. Mow2 is different from all aspects and in no way "a small upgrade" form the previous games, while it still maintains the main formula. Just make sure they don’t get hit by any kind of High explosives. Because they will miraculously undig themselves
I think the trenches look narrow and cheap, like they're from a mobile game, I like how fluid they are but wish they looked different, but that could be said about a lot in this game

Call to Arms might be published by Digitalmindsoft but it is not part of the MoW series it is a spiritual successor
Gates of Hell meanwhile is Barbedwire and they're IIRC mostly modders.
If you are looking for more realistic combat game, you might want to take a look at the Combat Mission Series, Healthbars dont exist there, its however absolutely unforgiving, when you make a mistake,
And it really leans into the direction of a hardcore tactic simulator.
Why not just play gates of Hell? I've seen so many people being against GoH when it's probably the best MoW in the market atm.

1C, A Russian publishing company that Bestway used to work with, I think they were directley responsible for some of the spinoffs like vietnam, and Condemned heroes
Digitalmindsoft, a German company that made MOWAS, MOWAS2 and CTA
Barbed Wire, a Spanish company that made Gates of Hell, but couldn't or wouldn't purchase the licensing fees for the engine, so the game was put under the digitalmindsoft Call to arms umbrella.
It seems to be the new normal, that games released in "not ready but playable" or "monthly patches and updates" states. MoW2 seems like it will follow that same path. I understand a lot of the frustrations, but I still have hopes for it and I expect the overall game to improve in the coming months and years when updates are released.
Always online regardless of single player.
God it's Sim City all over again
I thought gaming companies learned not to make games permanently online
But how can they kill the game then, when they need you to buy more stuff
I view it as an optimized template of AS2 which will grow with modding. I think with some mods there is great potential here.
imagine being a dev of a hyper-niche genre WITHIN a niche-genre, and unironically putting 15 year old defunct mechanisms (always online) into your product
imagine not actually doing a bit of research and realize that they've promissed an offline patch, which makes all whining useless because we're all online 24/7 with no ceasing on that. So whining about that while offline was announced just shows ppl need to whine about something.

I fail to see where it is a upgrade!? What am I missing???
My favourite is gates of hell. Can't wait for the next DLC.
man the game would be fine if they didn't build their long awaited sequel using what was left of the obscure mobile ass type game they had going
like come on they own gates of hell all they had to do was USE WHAT THEY HAD THERE, they could avoid so many headaches regarding the "singleplayer patch" just by not going with that base for their game
like that's the whole reason why the "always online" is a thing, simply because the game they used as a base wasn't made to be launched offline so they're making that mode from scratch
"The single player is fine but the multiplayer"... stop.. just stop.
Does everything have to be about multiplayer now?

Overall though, its fun and i have logged in for a least a little bit everyday.
I am also a first timer. The controls are a bit much but I'm used to being overwhelmed from games like stellaris. I did t like the game the first 3 hours, but I kept pushing and I now look forward to everyplace session. I think once you start getting passed the UI, the game becomes very enjoyable.
I bought the game at a discount and just couldn't go on for more than a few minutes. It's just not Men of War that I know and love and like many have said, it's better if you save the suffering for those who like the previous games and go and buy Gate of Hell 😐
always online is to prevent piracy
GoH just feels more dynamic and like a Hell Let Loose RTS, MoW2 feels cartoonish and arcade like as if it had a baby with Enlisted and War Thunder
0 Russians in multiplayer.
Not. Authentic.
Luckily you can spend hours in the editor.
lol they have stuff for cheating, damn these cheats must be something else if they are worried about someone cheating in an live time strategy game
@@Sol4rFl4r3 🤓👆
@@Sol4rFl4r3 You just didn't play the old Men of Wars to talk, did you? The franchise just lost they essence, which where the misions and more realistic parts. @@ederlopezpradas219 i ve played all of them, idk what you d want them to change make the tanks fly? In mow2 at least tanks get close to whole map range pretty much, the whole map.
a BIG chunk of those "fans" are just GoH haters spewing BS.
speaking of misinformation...
first of all, there is lots of differences between this and mowas2. some positive and some obviously negative. but out of the positive, they did innovate on the gameplay and QOL quite a bit.
to name a few, infantry can now run n gun, auto hope fences and walls, dig modular trenches, stay in formation, vehicles can entrench themselves, buildings are kinda usefull now, uints can retreat out of the game to be called another time, airstrikes!! and more...
it is 5 player coop.
yes, i miss the commonwealth. but GoH had only 2 factions at launch.
its not COH3 with 10 units per factions. we still have enough units per faction here so that they feel complete enough.
i am with you on the always online part tho. even if i play the campaign in coop.
there is a similar HP system in GoH. previous mow games also had hp on tanks.
MoW2 has one very big issue.
Why get MoW2 when Gates of Hell exists
because gates of hell cost about 80 buks and its multiplayer is dead, i like men of war 2 lot more
Because it’s actually the better game
@ANIMshit the game is cheaper than MOW2 when it's on sale. It's basically 5 bucks only and it's dlc around 3 to 6 while MOW2 is gonna sit around d on sale for still 20 bucks
@@stormy1055 The more I play MoW2, the better it gets, it’s damn good and extremely underrated.
@@stormy1055 goh on sale cost almost the same as mow2 with out sale.
Loved all the betat, played them all.
Currently i got no internet conection, so there is no point in buying it for now, else i totally would
I like it. It's better than COH and the tutorial in this is better than men of war assault squad. And being 100% online is normal for almost every game I play.
the problem is they kick you out of the game wehn afk coz the server could get over afked
why are people angry: because it sucks. the controls blow, it feels just as janky as MOW (except worse somehow} the improvements made are so minor and the ways the game got worse are HUGE.
I will agree with everything but he health bars. Its a bad lie that people keep repeating without knowing. It is just the health of your hull same as all other MOWs. Not the whole health bar you can still disable and shoot certain areas on vehicles.
Have Played the Alpha and lost any interest immediately...
Men Of War 2 is just a COH Clone... there dumped down the Mechanics the Fans loved so much that this game is unplayable... its just an Arcade Version of GOH... and thats very sad... there made the same Mistake as CoH3 and shitted on there Fanbase... now there got lower Playernumers than ever...
At least there is GOH which is the Perfekt MOW game...

This game is absolutely exceptional, I own every game in the series from the very first one, love them all, I actually like this more so than COH and GOH
Me as well, goh gets boring after few missions, and there is no real challanges in missions as well, they are too easy.
I still dont get the hate, as i undrestend, few streamers didnt like it and there followers just started review bombing the game
me too... It actually slapped GOH in da butt.
@@ANIMshit go heroic and no direct control with a few units as a challenge:)
Words cannot describe the sheer amount of brain damage I recieved from this comment.
@@dragonace119 why ? is tactical games too hard for your brain ?
This is a real shame, I was hoping it was good, and an improvement
I have +600 hours between MOWAS 1 and 2, plus +600 hours in COH3 plus almost 300 hours in GOH, almost 70 hours playing Men of War 2 sinceit was released and I can say Men Of War 2 is the best RTS of all times. The game is the best; Rymmi's just a mammas boy.
@@Overxpossed Oh yeah how about not being able to recrew an artillery piece or AT gun after your crew dies? Where is the strategy or tactics there?

@@OverxpossedThe cp where enough can't recrew your own or your allies vehicles and statics but can recrew the enemies vehicles and statics it makes no sense at all
@@stormy1055 I don't see why recrewing enemy's weapons is wrong against not recrewing your own units regarding the CP. That push you to recrew enemy vehicles. I'm totally ok with that.
Too bad I was really looking foward to this when I saw it while replaying AS2 bummer
If they did, they would say the same thing about gates of hell as well lol
Also, you cant compere mow2 and goh, they are two different games that where born from old men of war, none of them are like old "men of war". Each of them focuses on own stuff, goh focused on singleplayer and coop, mow2 focused on multiplayer (something we old players wished many many years ago)
Spreading hate about the game is just wrong, mow2 is fantastic game, if people dont like it, they have goh. What did they wanted, goh and mow2 to be the same ? Now we have bouth games, one for coop and other for mp, thats something we should be happy about
well... you definitelly nead to learn how to play.
@@Overxpossed I’ve been playing this franchise since 2006 I think I know how to play a men of war game.
You know if you can’t contribute anything thoughtful to the conversation it’s usually best that you keep your mouth shut :)
@@iTomBass Have you contributed with something thoughtful? MOW2 demands new strategies. All what you described isn't actually how the game is. For example, the amount of available units will depend on multiple factors more than using other games types that allow more troops from the beginning, like Combined Arms. Your whole comment shows a person who don't know how to play the game. If you have a user name pass it so we can play few matches; I'm pretty sure you will get how it works.
@@Overxpossed based on this comment and the others that you've said on this video. There's no way you're serious. You have to be one of the devs or something.
"MOW2 demands new strategies."
This is so unironically funny.
You're acting like I've played 10 minutes and written my original comment. I've played every mode in the game and I'm well aware of how MP and CP limits and echelon stage dictate the amount of units.
That doesn't stop the overall feeling of having essentially nothing.
Been a fan of the franchise since Faces of War (even played Soldiers Heroes as well)... I'm so glad CtA GoH is a thing, because MoW2 is crap.
The best tank in all of MOW2 is the KV-2, it does everything better than everything else, enough said.
lolwut
I get legitimate complaints, but complaining about only having three factions in the first full week of launch is insane. GOH took a long to get its 3 countries, and the USA came at the beginning of the year. Also, if you don't want HP bars on the tanks, turn on realism mode. I can understand your other qualms, but those are ridiculous.
Then why make the arcade mode the default mode when they know their entire community wants realism?
@@stormy1055 okay. Why does it matter? Turn it on. Does it do something to psychological?
No "realism" "classic" mode bullshit, the game should be realistic at its core. That should've been the base game and that should be the main focus, not a "game mode" which will be forgotten as it is easier to lean to more arcadey players.

I tried it - refunded.
Holy shit this was trash.
I was so excited for this game but when I played the beta, I saw that this game was not even close to being good.
And the game launched and continues exactly as it was in the beta, the game is jus t a copy of the old Men of War, but they managed to make the game worse. Gates of hell is much better and more fun.
and if you make any criticisms about men of war 2 they will hunt you down.
The more RESTRICTED GAMES BECOME for the greed and data companies make. Games are just meh and get boring so fast
Assault squad 2 makes more sense and is way better.
It's a good game I'm having a lot of fun. I played a lot of GoH and every MoW there was. I was sure I wouldn't like it but it has cool features and is a fast action PvP. Gosh has more immersion MoW 2 is pure action
