- These adorable babies 😍💕 are just learning to walk, but soon they will be playing together.
Mom in the front is Effie, behind her is Mjukuu. Mjukuu seems to be more loving and caring 💕. I hope that Effie is just a bit out of shape today. 😢
Watching this breaks my heart for the innocent vulnerable baby! 😢❤
Wow that is the first time I've ever seen a gorilla mother put her baby on the ground for such a long period of time and not engage. Gorilla babies are usually on their mothers constantly for the first 8 months until they start learning to walk. The baby went toward her and she just pushed it away. Maybe the mother is having postpartum depression. 😢
He’s learning to crawl so she has her eyes on him but she’s just letting him do his thing.
I was just thinking the same thing! I've never seen that before.
Yep
The baby is fine she is sitting right next to it and touching it that is normal
The baby needs to start practicing how to walk like a gorilla…..while mom grabs a little bit of much needed rest. She placed the baby on the blanket so it wouldn’t get dirty. She’s a good gorilla mommy.
Notice how one is always holding hers and being affectionate and the other one doesn’t want her touching her
Some people assumed that she has a postpartum depression. I hope she'll get better soon so she can take a good care of her baby.
It's called tummy time so they can learn. We don't hold our children 24 x7
@@TrinitywhispersIt is objectively observable that Effie shows little affection towards her young baby compared to most other mother gorillas.
@@Trinitywhispersno. “Tummy time” is a brand new human fad. Gorillas hold their babies on the front for the first couple of months. Humans don’t hold their babies enuf. Every other primate mom holds the baby in the early weeks and months. See Dr, Gabor Matê.
Bless its heart, the baby needs a new mom.
A few people assumed that she has postpartum depression. I hope she will get better soon to take a good care of her baby.
Oh my god, those birds would drive me nuts
Oh dear, Effie still hasn't learned mothering skill.
I think so too
@SquirrelsLondon Well she's probably German that's why. Cold and Distant!
She is protecting her baby and feeding it. Maybe she has an underlying health condition either mentally or physically, or she herself did not have a good mother. Just like people gorillas learn from each other in the same ways as we do. It isn't just instinct like many other animals. I noticed in another video when the other female sat beside her in what appeared to be a friendly gesture, rather than a dominance one - hard to tell - she rejected her advances. I watched Bagira with Nafi and it is a miracle Nafi survived with big brothers rough housing her and no protection. She learned to always be near her mother and walk underneath her to avoid them. Her mother was constantly putting her knuckles on her and pushing her to the ground to get away from her, but she fed her and she survived. Thank you for the great videos!
Effie did not have a good mother or possibly her mother did not know how to care for babies.. Her mother Salome did not raise any of her kids, they were all hand reared. This may be a big part of the problem. Her older half-brother Gino is at Disney Animal Kingdom and his mate Azizi struggled with knowing how to care for her babies, she was hand reared too. Azizi and others with this problem have managed and Effie seems like she is trying.
@@danyel875 Thank you for the extra information! Yes, this seems to be what is going on. And, if she was hand reared for quite a while she may feel out of place in her troop to some degree.
@@lm9991 I think Effie raised her son Gernot, but I have never seen any videos of her with him, only photos. I agree about her possibly feeling out of place. Tusa at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo was hand reared and seems to isolate herself. I guess that's why zoos try to get babies back with gorillas as young as possible.

They like blankees like we do so sweet
Hahaha yes! They take them anywhere they go
the zookeepers need to realize that mom is pushing her baby away. not a good sign
I think they keep an eye on everyone in the troop. Quite a few people assumed that this mother may have a postpartum depression. I hope she'll get better soon to take a good care of her baby ❤️
@@CuteAnimalsLondon it does seem to be something like postpartum but whatever mom is going through it is it’s not good at the moment. Thanks for responding. I pray the baby will continue to flourish. No judgement at all.
We just had a baby gorilla from Texas whose mom rejected her. They are feeling beings as well. Praying this baby continues to flourish.
@@CuteAnimalsLondonthank you for sharing that information AND your beautiful work you’ve filmed.
Mom just keeps pushing baby away, I feel so sorry for it
I feel bad for the baby too. I hope that Effie will be more caring in the future.
That’s what AI did to Annie in Japan. The zookeeper surrogate had to take over for a year!
Effie is fine with her baby. I bet if anyone tried to harm it she would defend it with her life🇬🇧
I hope so too!
It’s called baby tummy time
@@judithhstevens126Gorillas don’t have “tummy time.” I raised 3 kids in the 20th century- and can tell u “tummy time” is a 2020’s FAD - it looks really uncomfortable to human babies too.
But baby needs MILK. So maybe zoo will step in so baby doesn’t die like baby gorilla in New Orleans did when she didn’t get milk.
I could literally sit and watch them all day. It blows my mind how similar we are! I want a baby gorilla so bad. I’ll trade my 1yr old for one of those theirs. lol. Just joking.
😂😂😂 They are indeed very cute! One of them turned 3 months old today😊
😂😂😂 great comment. Ma’am most of us moms have had days where we would have shared the same sentiments.
The birds singing seem to bother them especially when they’re napping
Is the mother in front always like this with her baby....she doesn not seem interested at all!!😢
I hope she was just having a bad day😊
No son humanos, son animales salvajes irracionales y actúan por su naturaleza y por su instinto
The SB Gorillas are so much like humans, I wonder if Effie has postpartum depression.
Cute babies wonder what the names are stay with your family and troops we laugh and learn and benefit from the gorillas thanks they are very smart and intelligent animals always learning something new each day from them they make good parents and grandparents and uncles and aunties stay safe and warm out there love you guys thanks living the good life right thanks ?!!! Joe
Thank you for watching and for your for your comment!
Birds singing in background sound beautiful
Thank you for watchin!
Please tell me these are real birds. If not that would be torture
the little peanut closest to window is learning to self sooth. mom will pick her up if she cries hopefully. Effies baby looks to be a few weeks younger. primate babies are the cutest babies. when you watch them some times you can almost forget these are primate babies.
They are really cute😊
I hope what you’re saying is true and mom will be taking care of her baby☺️
Mother is rejecting baby what now?
I hope she is not rejecting him… maybe she was just tired or had a bad day
Beautiful babies
Thank you for watching!
That baby is too tiny for walking. Surprised she’s not holding baby on her front which is what gorilla moms do at this stage in baby’s development.
This is a great video, Thank you 🙏
Thank you for watching ☺️
This video makes me sad. She is rejecting the baby and not letting anyone else take care of it. Poor baby.
Effie is becoming more caring and loving now. Seems like she really had postpartum depression before.
Is that the best you can do to wallpaper jungle plants on the wall
Thank you for watching and for your comment. To justify the London Zoo: these gorillas have a large territory covered with evergreen grass. There are many bushes, trees and a zone for games. They also have a room closed from the eyes of visitors. Gorillas like to come to the glass aviary and look at the visitors. This is entertainment not only for the people but also for gorillas. They know that people admire them.

If anyone paid attention to the entire video, instead of focusing on the closest gorilla would actually observe both mother's actions towards their babies. And imo it's very similar. And remember that they are gorillas and nature is nature. Gorilla's that are unfortunately captive and deserve to be free.

Not similar. Mom in the back is giving a lot more personal care to her baby- grooming, cuddles, eye contact, etc.
Mom in the front keeps pushing her baby away so it won’t touch her.
Both mom's are doing a fabulous job with their little ones. This troop has exciting times ahead as these two grow up 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
What are you talking about that gorilla is not even bonding and nurturing that baby . The baby needs to be nurtured by her mom.
@@sandraaguirre1906 you watched a 15 minute video and came up with a human response. Please verify the other 23 hours and 45 minutes of that day and state to the world how ignorant you are of gorilla behavior
Thank you for watching😊

Baby needs to nurse!
Thank you for watching. Some people assumed that this mother has postpartum depression. I hope she will get better soon so she can take a good care of her baby.
Mom in the front is not very loving with her baby... The enclosure is beautiful with painted forest walls and lots of blankets for the babies plus an Antie waiting to touch the babies... Can you tell us how old these newborns are and the mothers? Maybe that one in front is a new mom...
One baby gorilla was born on 17 January. His mom is 25 years old. The other one was born on 8 February. His mom is 31 years old. 😊
@@CuteAnimalsLondon Thank You! I've joined the channel, they are so beautiful.
Terimakasih saya jadi lebih tau dan mengerti, salam dari indonesia
Looks like mom is taking a much needed rest while her baby was placed on the blanket. I fully understand the necessity for a new mother to grab some rest when she can…..while baby can take a few steps and practice walking on all fours. Everything looks fine to me.
I think so too. Baby can exercise and mom is right there.
I do feel a little bit sad for Effies baby. I wonder if apes can get post natal depression?? It's confusing though because she is very protective of her. 🤷♀️
I think you're right. It seems like Effie had postpartum depression, but she is getting better. These days she is a more caring and loving mother.
trop chou adorable animaux
Thank you for watching and for your comment! I agree. They are absolutely adorable!
Why is mom not engaging?
If you’re British please say mum not mom,if you’re American then I beg your pardon
Both moms are giving tummy time
A Mum is a shortened version of the word Chrysanthemum- a variety of flower...honestly if you are from California please do not refer your mother as Mum or Mummy..you are neither requesting a flower nor are you claiming some ancient Egyptian corpse wrapped in gauze placed in a tomb with n Cairo@@StuartHanson-fo7iw
@@StuartHanson-fo7iw I’m American and it’s mom. Understood though, our daughter married a Georgie and she’s a mum. 🫶🏻
No interest
Give an extra blanket or sheet to mothers and children... thank you 🙏

Poor baby , mom shows no love

The piped in jungle music/sounds were a tad much!!
Thank you for watching and for your comment
Or she waiting for it to go to the bathroom
This is heartbreaking and infuriating to watch the one in the front. Zookeepers need to INTERVENE AND CARE FOR THE BABY!!!

is it possible for gorilla moms to have post partum. lol. seems like she don't want to have anything to do with her baby.
That's possible. I hope she'll get better.
It’s hard to watch😢 baby is so very young, I have not witnesses this before and I watch a lot of mom gorillas with their babies. I’m sure the staff is keeping a close eye on her.
@@lindapelle8738I bet they are on it like white on rice!!
Ma per me poco spazio per tutti li ..non c'è spazio per camminate 😢

The mother is just teaching the baby to roll over and start pushing up. Gorilla mother’s are smart enough to know there’s no danger at the area of their enclose. Just as Orangutans will have more babies closure together in zoo’s or aquarium’s than in the wild because of the security and they get plenty of food. Go try to take her baby and you seen her pull baby back as soon as another gorilla got to close. Also as soon as other baby finished nursing it’s mother put her/him down to also work on their motor skills. I’m sorry you darling gorilla mom’s that so many human’s say such foolish thing’s because they understand the topic.
Thank you for watching and for your comment. I think people criticize Effie because Mjukuu seems to be much more caring and loving mother. Because there are currently 2 mother gorillas in the Zoo it is not possible to avoid comparison.
Maybe she's teaching the baby monkey to start being independent . It looks heathly and if they thought the baby wasn't cared for they take it away .they seem relaxed with the others as well.
I hope zookeepers have everything under control and also keep an eye on little ones!
the habitat doesn't look natural at all. poor gorillas

Being jailed is horrendous for them but sadly, their natural environment due to human encroachment is far worse.
