So I just passed my first time at Arden!!!! Watching this video a couple times definitely helped. What I did good: -perfect parallel -good 90 backing -good speed (20-25mph) -good observation (looking when crossing intersections and lane changing) -use turn signals everywhere!! Even when turning out of parallel and 90 backing. What I messed up on: -try to make sure you stay in the unmarked lanes correctly. The roads all seem to have faded lines so even the yellow line separating traffic is hard to see. The roads are all 4 lane, so make sure you’re not driving in the center of the road. -when you turn into the one way road with the turning signs, make sure you turn into the FIRST lane of whatever side you come from. The second lane if there is a car parked in the first. You got it !! I was so nervous, but I still passed. I even watched a girl that went before me who failed parallel, like she couldn’t even get in, I don’t know how the rest went, but she passed too!! You don’t need to be perfect in everything to pass !
I think you had a generous instructor, I keep on going on the wrong side of the 'residential' roads twice now after a turn because they are too wide to be real and I forget to hug the curb
I just passed at Arden Hills!!! This was my 4th time taking the test and this video helped so much. Thank you so much for posting it, it literally saved my life! For anyone taking the test, as long as you remember what he says in this video you’ll be ok. Really pay attention to the one way left turns, that’s what messed me up all the times before. As long as you’re calm and confident then you’ll be ok! Don’t be nervous about parking, just take your time! The instructors let you readjust, so don’t worry if it’s not perfect. Be calm and confident and you’ll pass! Good luck to everyone!!
I think another common mistake that people have while taking it at a closed course is knowing the right of way, especially at uncontrolled intersections. So if you're on the one way when you approach that big intersection, the two way has the right of way since they're the bigger traffic. And if you see oncoming cars, just yield to them and proceed when the coast is clear.
i was on the two way in the middle lane and someone was on the far side of the one way turning right, and my examiner forced a stop because “I was almost about to be in a accident”
I have my test tomorrow also. I have driven for many years but due to a bad back Injury I didn’t drive for about 10 years now. I just wanted to add one thing that I remembered people screwed up on usually if it’s one of the first turns. Your nervous when they tell you ok stop and take a right. MAKE SURE that you double check for a NO TURN ON 🛑 RED sign. People say I stopped like they asked and turned right. That’s where they get you sometimes. It’s an automatic FAIL….. thanks for making this video for people that was Very Thoughtful of you!!!
I recently failed my test her but then passed a week later in faribault Couple things to look out for -semis are parked up and down the roads so make sure you turn into the closest safe lane -Make sure you are turning into the correct lane into the one way and the correct lane turning off of the one way -the parallel park isn’t too difficult if you’ve practiced -the 90° back in can be tricky if you aren’t in the right lane to do so but you are allowed to readjust so just take your time -the “stoplight” that they have in the course switches from a normal stoplight, to a flashing red stoplight/stopsign, and a flashing yellow which means you need to yield Where i failed was turning from the right lane onto a two way-one lane street that was unmarked, don’t make the same mistake i did and you should be fine, good luck to all those taking the test and try and calm your nerves before the test
Passed my test today here first try . shi I can say to much stress outta ma head Tips - y’all need to move yo heads 24/7 even when turning right from right - Know the mechanics of the pakings. U will do fine if u watched the videos how to 90° and parallel SIGNAL when getting out. and I’m sure y’all know how to uphill/downhill . For the uphill park I went over the curb to have enough space, I don’t think they care if u over the curb. - U and the examiner need to be in a positive vibe, so keep it 💯 - Signal every time u change lane and turn. - And lastly turn yo neck left/right, over the shoulder, every time in intersection - I think looking around is the most important thing to them then the parkings - The test wasn’t even that much long as the videos. Mine was like 8-10 min. It was super quick.
i have also heard to exaggerate your head movements because the examiner would have missed it cuz i had a friend recently fail because of this very reason
Went today and did the mistake of lane changing from one way...Going back next week and I hope to pass... Thank you for the nice video it is so informative.
I love that you mention after the 90° back turn. Come back out and signal. Watched 3 other videos and they don’t mention that at all!!! Every point counts
Took my test twice at arden. I will tell you this, watching this video will DEFINITELY help you! First time- (FAIL) Good: -90 degree back in -right turns -SMOG *important* -keep good observation (They look closely!!) -speed (20-25) Bad: -Be aware of your surroundings they may try to trick you! (They tricked me on a left turn which caused for an automatic fail) -Poor parallel parking Second time- (PASS) : I did everything well, be sure to stay observant, stay at a low speed, look at the signs, and dont worry, for parking you get MUCH more space then you think!! Although, in parallel parking I got in between the cones but went over the curb, i corrected it after i messed up and still passed! you dont need to be great at everything, they are just looking for confidence in what you're doing and want for you to follow the laws. goodluck!
Thank you. I'm super stressed about my test, even though I haven't scheduled it yet. I'm 18 years old and I still don't have my license, due to health reasons, but I need to get it if I get a job
Hey, a tip if you want to take the test sooner than that, check back online ALL THE TIME to catch appointments opening up from cancellations! I failed my first test at the beginning of oct, and within two days of checking back online all throughout the day, I was able to catch an opening for just a couple after that.
if you're on the one way when you approach that big intersection, the two way has the right of way since they're the bigger traffic. And if you see oncoming cars, just yield to them and proceed when the coast is clear.
I made one of the common mistakes, the left turn into the wrong lane. Still passed though bc that was the only mistake I made. Worst thing was that I JUST watched this video before leaving to take the test haha. It's all good though!
Thank you! I will be having my test in July and I’m studying the place and road so when I get in there it’s not new to me and I have an idea about the lanes.
You shouldn't be stopping in each lane. You should be constantly moving, looking, and signalling to cross. Things might change, but the last time my father signal once and cut across three lanes, he failed.
Im taking the test Novemeber 2nd wish me luck guys! not allot of people pass areden first time but lets see how it goes (i currently suck at parking) But lets hope i get a nice insrutctor ^.^
Update: Passed first try i forgot my drivers log so ill be having to go back with it to get my liscnese! i got a black hair instructor with pircings they were really nice i got enough to pass didnt even have to parallel park :)
Often drivers failed because they did not yield to the two ways or look. Uncontrolled intersection doesn't have any traffic control systems so being careful, look and yield if needed to is a must.
so my car as a camera at the back and i can see where the cones are during parallel and 90 parking. makes life so much easier and i've just been practicing with that cheat. but is it required to look over the shoulder during the actual road test as you reverse into the space? or is it fine as long as you get it in the spot and don't hit the cones?
When you try to move to another lane then you should signal every time, to change lane. When you're in a lane to turn the corner then it should also be on because you will be turning at the corner.
@@TDangPhysicsFoodFamilyFun i had an to stop my test because i went into an uncontrolled intersection when another car was coming and i don’t see it so i failed
