I just received as a gift from GTY this bible in LSB hardcover, but beware, the paper is super thin that when I removed the folded ribbon, it tore a page.
Very good information. Just a couple of notes: 1. Most of the maps in both the ESV Study Bible and the MacArthur Study Bible are exactly the same. However, I think that the ESV Study Bible has more maps (although some of the maps are just shown multiple times). MacArthur has (I think) 2 maps which the ESV does not - one being a map of Ezekiel’s Vision of Israel’s New Boundaries during the millennium. 2. I am fairly sure that the comments in the MacArthur Study Bible and in the one-volume commentary were very similar, if not the exact thing. The commentary, however, is a much larger size - so it is easier on the eyes. 3. MacArthur also has a separate book which contains introductions of the 66 books of the Bible also found in the Study Bible.
Would you recommend to have both study bible and bible commentary? I already have the study bible and I would like to know if it's useful tontake also the commentary

I use the study Bible when I want to look up something quickly . For more depth, I go to the Bible commentary. (If it is OT, I use the one volume. If it is NT, I go the the commentary set.) I started the Bible commentary set by buying one at a time (back in 1992) as suggested above and then when I got caught up to date, I bought each new one as they came out.
In terms of commentary, do you know if the Macarthur Bible Commentary (the thick book) have any EXTRA commentary that isn't in the study bible? Thank you
@@sesamesprinkles Yes, the commentary does have the same notes as the study Bible. Did you really think he would write a whole commentary otherwise? I don’t know if you’ve seen them, but Johnny Mac also has Bible study guides. They’re individual books of the Bible with notes and commentary in it. Are the the same notes as any of these?
I don't have them. My guess is that the info in them is similar just with "questions" to help you read. But again...I haven't really put my hands on one.

First...thanks for the support and encouragement! Soli Deo Gloria As far as the "Matthew Study Book" goes...I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are referring to. I do have the Matthew Commentaries Such as the ones shown. But I don't have a specific study book. Sorry

As much as I would like the premium MacArthur ESV, 2nd Ed. - but I cannot afford one. So… my question is about the Hardcover as compared to the Brown Imitation binding. What are your thoughts? I thought I would add I also have a somewhat portable ESV Systematic Theology Bible I take to church and everywhere. Maybe I should consider the commentary but I think the 2nd Ed. Study Bible would be best. I would appreciate your thoughts. 🙏
To be honest. Most hard covers I have tent to “lay flat” right outta the box. Some prefer them for just that reason. That being said. The quality of imitation leather these days is really good in my opinion and if it’s going to be your every day carry….that’s not a bad option.
@@ClaimingChristianity thank you for your reply… and this is exactly what I am thinking… except that maybe I should get a zip cover because here in Michigan, the weather can be a factor
Zippered covers are great - not only for bad weather, but for at least one other reason. If you drop your Bible, the pages will not open up and tear from the fall. In a zippered cover, the pages are protected.
Thank you for the love amd support!! Soli Deo Gloria (I almost got the NKJV cause I don’t spend much time in the NASB but as it’s currently Johnny Macs preferred translation...I figured ...why not)
@@ClaimingChristianity I was looking for the NASB, but the NKJV was the only one I could find at the time. 😂. Worked out real good though. I'm very happy with it.😊
At the shop they only had NASB and NKJV. If there was an ESV I prob would have gotten that. But I’m happy. The commentary is the commentary. It’ll get used.
I have the MacArthur Study Bible really like the study notes-comments, ...does the MacArthur Bible Commentary has more study notes than my Study Bible? Im thinking if it has 50% or more comments-study notes could be worth it.... like how much more percentage of notes has the Commentary? do you think is worth getting both ??
I don't know if you need both. If it were me...I'd stick with the Study Bible and start collecting the individual commentaries. The all in one commentary does have a little more than the SB but the whole NT commentary set is what you want really.
Well if you have nothing at all start with the study Bible. But of you have a bible already and can afford it....I say get the whole set of commentaries. That’s years of study right there and tons of great information. Let us know what you get and how you like it!!
@@ClaimingChristianity thanks for your response. I do have a bible but it's on my phone and right now I'm planning to buy the 2nd edition of the JMac study bible. Do you think that would be a good start as a beginner or should I buy the JMac commentaries?
We’ll. My gut says reading the 33 books. Lol. But they’re not exactly built for reading straight through. So I’d say do both. Listen to the sermons and supplement your study with the books when you need um. 🤷🏻♂️ that’s what I do.

Zippered covers are great - not only for bad weather, but for at least one other reason. If you drop your Bible, the pages will not open up and tear from the fall. In a zippered cover, the pages are protected.
great video Steve. I have the NKJV Study bible and love it.
Thank you for the love amd support!! Soli Deo Gloria
(I almost got the NKJV cause I don’t spend much time in the NASB but as it’s currently Johnny Macs preferred translation...I figured ...why not)
@@ClaimingChristianity I was looking for the NASB, but the NKJV was the only one I could find at the time.
@@ClaimingChristianity Thanks for answering. 😎
Hello, I'm planning to buy from JMac. What should a beginner like me choose from those three?
Well if you have nothing at all start with the study Bible. But of you have a bible already and can afford it....I say get the whole set of commentaries. That’s years of study right there and tons of great information. Let us know what you get and how you like it!!
@@ClaimingChristianity thanks for your response. I do have a bible but it's on my phone and right now I'm planning to buy the 2nd edition of the JMac study bible. Do you think that would be a good start as a beginner or should I buy the JMac commentaries?
Start with the Bible. I think you’ll get a lot out of it. Then you can add commentaries one by one if you want. That’s what I’d do
@@ClaimingChristianity thank you and Gob bless!
Would I be better off hearing his free sermons then reading 33 books?
We’ll. My gut says reading the 33 books. Lol. But they’re not exactly built for reading straight through. So I’d say do both. Listen to the sermons and supplement your study with the books when you need um. 🤷🏻♂️ that’s what I do.
You should have said which one is suitable for what purpose.
Sorry. The information given was supposed to help others figure out what’s best for them. I did my best.
I have the study Bible and love it.
It’s a GOOD one
@@ClaimingChristianity I like it so much I just ordered the top grain leather Study Bible about a week ago.
@@ClaimingChristianity I do have a question for you other than your pet minion what Bible would you suggest that is small and compact like that for an every day carry right now I am currently using a compact 316 publishers NASB Bible I like it but there are no references.

Dr.John Macarthur is a great evangelist, preacber and arthur,I may not agree with everything he says and belives in I do have Nsab,NkJ study bibles and a couple of his daily study bible which I use along side of my King James and New King James. Thanks for sharing video.
Glad it was helpful! And I also don’t agree with everything He says.
Um NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I don't THINK so!!!! Anyone who tells the entire youtube world that you can take the mark of the beast and still go to heaven is NOT a great preacher (or even an OK one)
l just purchased a Macarthur bible, 2ed and l was very disappointed with it, to the point l am going to sell it, its that poor. Just the quality of the notes is very sub par.
Answer: none of them.
Not me. I wouldn’t touch anything John McArthur advises. His treatment of Mrs Gray was disgusting. His sermon on women twisted Scripture to fit his bias. No McArthur anything for me, thanks anyway.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Of every single comment on here, you're the ONLY one who knows what he's talking about!
John McArthur told the whole youtube world that you could take the mark of the beast and still go to heaven (and the last I heard, he STILL believes that), and I honestly feel REALLY bad for all those who are believing his crap.
I just found THIS guy on here about a month ago. I've only seen a few of his videos and I've been liking them. I'm still gonna watch him because I like him (with the exception of this one; I'm not even gonna BOTHER watching this one). I'll still watch his videos but you have NO IDEA how disappointing it is to see that he and so many others put so much stock into this false teacher :(
