    Thanks to you I have both the ESV Study Bible and the CSB Holy Land Illustrated Bible, so I'm somewhat set in the Study department... For now :-)
    SO for me, I think the Bible commentary would make the most sense. They are all lovely though.

    Very good information. Just a couple of notes:
    1. Most of the maps in both the ESV Study Bible and the MacArthur Study Bible are exactly the same. However, I think that the ESV Study Bible has more maps (although some of the maps are just shown multiple times). MacArthur has (I think) 2 maps which the ESV does not - one being a map of Ezekiel’s Vision of Israel’s New Boundaries during the millennium.
    2. I am fairly sure that the comments in the MacArthur Study Bible and in the one-volume commentary were very similar, if not the exact thing. The commentary, however, is a much larger size - so it is easier on the eyes.
    3. MacArthur also has a separate book which contains introductions of the 66 books of the Bible also found in the Study Bible.

    Anyone know what the font size is on the Commentary? I have his Study Bible(s) all of which are around 9pt which is odd for such a big Bible. Hard to read with diabetic eye issues now. Usually more comfortable with a 10pt like the Charles Stanley uses or higher. Heck, got a super giant sized regular NASB95 which is 16pt with 12 pt font footnotes. That thing is too big! I could fight off a yeti with that, lol.
    I really want this commentary because Mac has spent 50 years preaching and I would say is one of the best expository pastors I’ve ever heard. Ty

      @@ClaimingChristianity 9 can work. It’s a great time to love God’s word. We have so much information available and used rightly, can be great. I wish the Lord would increase my vision just for while I am reading though, lol. Anything 9 and up is ok though. I bought the MacArthur NKJV Daily Reading Bible and it’s about 7.5-8 which is brutal. Also the letter in the front said from Mac, but kept using things like “Our wish for you is..” and “we the publishers thank you.” Basically Thomas Nelson slapped his name on it, threw a few of his notes in it and called it a day before his contract expired.
      Ty for the advice. Sorry for the long reply. I’ve been up a little bit too long lol.

    QUESTION ?? I would like to know why some bibles don’t have the words of Christ in red . specifically JMAC , R.C. Sproul , ESV Study Bible ? Thank you

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  Год назад +1

      It’s really a personal preference of both the buyer and the producer. No real reason some don’t like red cause it effects their eyes. Some don’t like it cause it feels like those words are more important when they’re not.
      Some like it cause they stand out. Humble lamb does them in Blue…which I personally love.
      But it’s all personal preference.

      @daledickerson-r9u 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@sesamesprinkles Yes, the commentary does have the same notes as the study Bible. Did you really think he would write a whole commentary otherwise? However, yes, the commentary DOES have extra notes and charts. The print in the commentary is larger than the study Bible, so if one has trouble reading the study Bible they can go to the commentary and read that. Also, in the commentary at the end of each book is a list of further recommended reading. To me, if MacArthur recommends a book I know it will be Biblically sound. Look below for other comments concerning your question.

      I don't know if you need both. If it were me...I'd stick with the Study Bible and start collecting the individual commentaries. The all in one commentary does have a little more than the SB but the whole NT commentary set is what you want really.

    Hello, I'm planning to buy from JMac. What should a beginner like me choose from those three?

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  3 года назад +1

      Well if you have nothing at all start with the study Bible. But of you have a bible already and can afford it....I say get the whole set of commentaries. That’s years of study right there and tons of great information. Let us know what you get and how you like it!!

      @@ClaimingChristianity thanks for your response. I do have a bible but it's on my phone and right now I'm planning to buy the 2nd edition of the JMac study bible. Do you think that would be a good start as a beginner or should I buy the JMac commentaries?

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  3 года назад +2

      Start with the Bible. I think you’ll get a lot out of it. Then you can add commentaries one by one if you want. That’s what I’d do

    Would I be better off hearing his free sermons then reading 33 books?

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  3 года назад +2

      We’ll. My gut says reading the 33 books. Lol. But they’re not exactly built for reading straight through. So I’d say do both. Listen to the sermons and supplement your study with the books when you need um. 🤷🏻‍♂️ that’s what I do.

    Not me. I wouldn’t touch anything John McArthur advises. His treatment of Mrs Gray was disgusting. His sermon on women twisted Scripture to fit his bias. No McArthur anything for me, thanks anyway.

      THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Of every single comment on here, you're the ONLY one who knows what he's talking about!
      John McArthur told the whole youtube world that you could take the mark of the beast and still go to heaven (and the last I heard, he STILL believes that), and I honestly feel REALLY bad for all those who are believing his crap.
      I just found THIS guy on here about a month ago. I've only seen a few of his videos and I've been liking them. I'm still gonna watch him because I like him (with the exception of this one; I'm not even gonna BOTHER watching this one). I'll still watch his videos but you have NO IDEA how disappointing it is to see that he and so many others put so much stock into this false teacher :(
