I just recently received the NKJV MacArthur Study Bible in Brown Leathersoft. I absolutely love it. I'm not really interested in owning a Premium Bible. No offence to anybody who owns one, but personally I don't want to be distracted by all the "bells and whistles" as I've heard Tim Nickels say. By the way, I just subscribed. If this is your first video, I can't wait to see future videos.
A wonderful review! I recently purchased a second edition of this Bible, knowing beforehand that MacArthur's interpretation of some topics is not of mine. That said, the study notes are deep and bring a new appreciation to the Word of God. I highly recommend this Bible and just today ordered a second copy (large print - 3,264 pages)!!
Great review! I seldom see anyone review a study bible and actually examine the study notes. They talk about the physical aspects and the layout and organization, but that's where it stops. I'm like you, not reformed and a complimentarian. However, I've ordered a MacArthur Study Bible and I've wondered whether I should have ordered a study bible with notes written by a Calvinist (although I listen to John MacArthur frequently and admired his ability to teach the Bible). You've helped me a great deal, so thank you!
That is kind of you to let me know. I figured there are plenty of reviews of the physical attributes such as the leather and paper quality; but I didn't know of any which referenced the study notes. And after all, buying a study bible is buying it for the notes!
Great review my friend,a friend of mine gave me a John Macarthur study bilbe and I must say I was so impressed with the study bible I am now hooked on John Macarthur that I gave accumalated several versions.
Thank you Perry. Your review showed me a lot. And what to expect. Really glad you didnt trash JonnieMac for believing differently that you. That says a lot about where your mind is- focused on the Word of God. Excellent work, Sir. Consider me Subscribed.
I like MacArthur.... I agree with his stance on Lordship Salvation... Calvinism... and dispensationalism..... I also share his complementarian.. viewpoint.. but I heard One.. preacher expound on 1 Corinthians 14:34-35... that made it quite clear.. what Paul's stance was in regards to women speaking in churches.. and the points made were very exact.. this one preacher stated.. we run into a problem when we feel that Paul was indeed speaking out against women speaking in all churches.. there was a reason Paul spoke to the Corinthians regarding this specific issue.. Paul did Not OK.. women to be Preachers... but neither was he trying to say women should Not speak at all in ANY church.. and so if MacArthur's view is that women should Not speak at all.. even in regards to asking questions during a Sunday School lesson.. MacArthur is WRONG...
I too am a new subscriber based on this review. I like how you spent less time of the quality of the Bible (which is absurdly good) and more on the quality of the instruction. I'm a new fan. Perhaps in a future video you'll take more about OSAS or Perseverance of the Saints. Blessings. MikeInMinnesota
I really like your review, is complete and well explained. I was about to buy this Bible study for me, but considering the price that I couldn't afford and the fact that Macarthurs Bible commentary has the same info and more I decided to buy the second.
THANK YOU! I have looked for reviews on this Bible and all i find are the cosmetics and not the information inside. Im torn between this and the ESV study Bible. What had me hesitant was one person's opinion v.s a team. I am very new to the faith so im looking for a great study bible!
@Perry Hall - WOW! I am impressed because you told us this was your first Review. What a great Study Bible to do your first Review on. I have a MacArthur Study Bible with the 1995 NASB Scriptures (and I alsow have other Study Bibles with the same). This Study Bible that you are reviewing is one that I hesitated to purchase because of MacArthur's views. HOWEVER, I did end up purchasing it because I got it at a very low price. Almost close to free 😁. Your Review really is excellent because of the relevant points you brought out. All Commentaries, including those in Study Bibles are merely opinions. It gives the student more food for thought during their studies. Most people are set about their views on women speaking in the Church (or not speaking); Also a great number of people are set on their view on speaking in Tongues and the Interpretation of Tongues (especially if God has anointed them with one or the other or both of those gifts). Most people follow certain Teachers/Pastors because they agree with their views. Likewise they will purchase a Bible or Study Bible by a certain Pastor due to their agreement with their biblical theology (or not). Saying all that to say -- how REFRESHING your Review is! Thank you. Subscribed. 🌺🤗
@@PerryHall - You are welcome. I think you are the first to make me really re-think how I think about my Bible Studies. Especially when it comes to the commentaries in the Study Bibles. In this one, I will look a lot deeper and truly dig into the Scriptures. Using the Holy Spirit as my Teacher for sure! 🌺
Hi there Perry. Thank you so much for your comments. I have been reading the Life Application Bible for the past 18 years. I am purchasing a new study Bible. How would you compare the MacArthur Study Bible and the Life Application Bible?
I hope this is a fair answer to your question. The Life Application Study Bible is more about practical ways and advice on how to live the text. The McArthur study Bible is more about how to understand the text. So one is about learning the text while the other is about living the text. Both are necessary and complement our spiritual journey.
Hi, I admire John Mcarthur for his strong conviction of Jesus Christ as son of God , who will come and fullfill his fathers desire to be our Lord and God as in the book of Revelation ! The plan of the father !
Perry I did Not like your review at 1st Your blurry camera work and and not going over some of The Bible's physical features. After listening to your entire video I believe that You have done one of the most thoughtful aund most helpful reviews on RUclips. I have not seen any review that covered the material that you did . Thank you for a great review
I always look better when the camera is blurry! Seriously, I tried to offer up the "study" review since I find that the most helpful in a study Bible. Thanks for watching.
I have the MacArthur Study Bible really like the study notes-comments, ...does the MacArthur Bible Commentary has more study notes than my Study Bible? Im thinking if it has 50% or more comments-study notes could be worth it.... like how much more percentage of notes has the Commentary? do you think is worth getting both ??
It is your first bible review which should have been preceded by what looks like it might have been your first bookshelf straightening and cleaning. Not that its noticable.
Excellent, all that truly matters is the word of God, only through the Word can true wisdom come. Binding is beautiful but it's the least important part
Why??? Do we need another bible translation!? And why did McArthur make another translation!!? This one omitts a lot of key words /sentences that the kjv has and it's very simular to most of the other modern day translation that are committing key words and sentences !!??😢😢😢 ... why not just another STUDY BIBLE!??? This really teeters on the edge of heresy and or is heresy.!!!
@@PerryHall ... yes, but it's basically the same thing .as the youtube heading states, it's a review of the study bible. *just to point out something about most of these newer transactions that came out after the KJV they all seem united in taking out and committing key words/sentences.... funny how the serpent creeps into our holy book and corrupts men and the gospel.... don't believe me? Do the research and see for yourself. Compare the KJV with all the others. Why, even the so called NKJV is not really what it's title says, it's like all the other newer transactions, heresy.
Hebrews 6 is Not referring to backsliding... what Hebrews 6 is referring to is Apostasy... where one once believed... but "fallen away"... this means Now are in denial of Christ.. which is what Judas did.. there is a difference between falling away.. and disbelief... This "fallen away" is referring to disbelief in Jesus... I find his studies to be very opinionated esp in regards of the Holy Spirits gifts ... I'm open to listening to opinions but not taught as biblical facts which he likes to do quite a bit. Sometimes I scratch my head as to where he is getting his ideas .... I'm totally not OSAS so his teachings dont jive with me much. Chew the meat spit out the bones is what I usually say with study bibles , this one has lots of gristle.😂
painful to watch...the first 3 minutes the speaker is unable to present a single fact, analysis or objective statement; instead he is talking inside church stuff. One of the many reasons to flee attending today's church services...inhabited with people that cannot present a single biblical point without injecting tons of irrelevant, unbiblical, personal opinions. turned off.
Thank you for not just assuming that everyone knows religious terminology and giving us definitions. Great review.

The Inductive Study Bible allows you to make your own study Bible. The MacArthur already has the notes.
