How to Dye Your Hair With Tish and Snooky, The High Priestesses of Hair Color™
How to Do a Patch Test:
• Select a quarter-sized area of skin behind the ear or in the inner fold of the elbow.
• Cleanse skin with mild soap and water, pat dry.
• Apply a thin coat of your specific shade of hair dye to the area and let dry.
• Leave uncovered and undisturbed for 24 hours.
• Examine the test area carefully. If there are any signs of irritation, do not use the product.
How to Do a Test Strand (Test Strip)
• Super important - see how the specific color of dye you want will show up on YOUR hair! Everyone's hair is different.
• Select a small, 1 inch strand of hair in a hidden spot.
• Prep the strand by shampooing and fully drying it. DO NOT condition the strand - the dye will not stick.
• Comb the dye through the strand until it is frothy and evenly distributed. Wrap in tin foil or a plastic bag to protect the surrounding hair.
• Let sit at least 30 mins. Blast with heat from a blowdryer for added intensity. Rinse strand in cool water, away from face, until water runs clear.
• Dry hair and see how you like the color. At this point you may decide you need to pre-bleach your hair for different results, or choose a darker or lighter shade. Keep doing small test strips until desired results are achieved.
Things That Fade Color:
• Clarifying, deep-cleansing, or anti-dandruff shampoos
• Frequent shampooing
• Alcohol-based styling products such as certain hairsprays, gels, or mousses
• Chlorine (swimming pools)
• Saltwater
• Excessive exposure to sunlight
• Hot oil treatments
What Affects Color Outcome?
• How "light" or blonde your hair is before dyeing it
• Texture, thickness, and porosity of hair
• How thoroughly you rinsed out the bleach, if you used any before dyeing
• If your hair is "virgin," or if it has been processed/damaged before
How To Avoid a Mess
• Put petroleum jelly around your hairline, ears, and neck to protect your skin from getting stained. But don't get any on your hair - dye will not stick to petroleum.
• Protect floor and work surfaces with newspapers, trashbags, or old towels you don't mind staining.
• Wear plastic gloves - some dyes will stain hands!
• Use Manic Panic® Dye Away™ Wipes to remove dye stains from skin.
• Rinse in a stainless-steel sink if possible - some colors might stain white sinks or bathtubs. Wear old clothes you don't mind staining. Same goes for towels.

Do you need to bleach your hair before you use manic panic and do you need to use a cap?
Jeremy Paraiso If you want a vibrant color and do not have naturally light hair, yes, you do. If you want to tone dark hair, however, you don't have to bleach. A cap is not integral to the dying experience, but will help the color to last longer.

I want to mix hot hot pink and shocking blue to make a purplish tone, but I don't want to bleach my hair. If I want it to be a darker purple, Would it be OK if I don't bleach it at all (My hair is reddish brown atm) ?? And would the colour stay in my hair the same average period of time? This is my first time dying my hair and I really want to try out the After Midnight Blue dye, I hv black hair and I want a really vibrant intense blue shade, should I bleach my hair beforehand and if I should, then how light? I want it to end up a shade of blue thts very obvious, not a blue-black but a very intense dark-ish blue, do you think After Midnight Blue would give me that colour or would a different blue give me this?

I love manic panic Now! I bought a tub of atomic turquoise and put a big streak at the front of my hair (behind my fringe) and it's turned out super pretty! I have quite dark brown hair but I put lemon juice on it and sat out in the sun all day. It turned a nice light blonde. If you can't bleach your hair you should try that instead!!!

I'm sat with your 40 volume bleach in right now with just a few minutes left and then it's to rinse it and add Virgin Snow :3 On Sunday I am getting a rainbow mohawk :D Cadillac pink in the front and then Hellfire red, Sunshine yellow, Rockabilly blue, mixing between the layers, and on the short sides I'm having Atomic turquoise.. Been a long time since I dyed my hair now(two years!) so it's about time something wild happened :D I'm off to rinse! Wish me luck :3

I dyde my hair blue with a strong long lasting colour and my hair broke apart with split ends everywhere and then I started using manic panic and dyde my hair half blue half green and it actually made my hair softer and less damage, thank you for making this product.
I love Manic Panic's punk roots! I've always felt like I was born in the wrong era and the late 70s/early 80s punk period has always been so fascinating to me! Tish and Snooky are so cool for starting that punk store in New York. I wish I could've been alive back then to witness it. And Mystic Heather is just about the most gorgeous color I've ever seen! On the other hand, I WAS around and partying in the late 70's -to early 80's!! I LOVE to color my hair now and I WISH I'd known about them at the time!! I'm from,Ct ,but I used to go to NY to party. I DEFINITELY would have gone to Tish and Snookies!! I remember actually ironing my sister's hair on the ironing board!! You had to find a way to be different, and I used to tye dye my wife beaters!! Now they make them in every color!! I'm very small in the boob area,so I never wore a bra, but you couldn't see through them anyway. I should have pattoned them!!!

I can't believe it's taken me so long to look up brands of dye for the fun colors I really want. I intend to dye my hair mint green just in time for me to march in the local Pride parade where I live, coming up here in the middle of June. Been dying my hair for years with Splat, and have decided to go pastel with Manic Panic. I read about 500 articles recommending this over Splat for ANYTHING as well, so I guess I'm a new fan XD
Though I might try using Virgin Snow as a color, I've never used toner before and I LOVE white hair. Might try Virgin Snow, then if I don't like it use Purple Haze, that way I don't lose either way.

I have used Manic Panic since I was 15 I'm 22 now and I still love it! I'm really in to the whole pastel color trend and I'd love to have lavender hair! Which purple Manic Panic dye do you think would achieve the best lavender result when mixed with condition?
Either Electric Amethyst (for a true light purple) or Lie Locks (with hints of blue). We also have a Manic Mixer/Pastel-izer product that you can use to create your own pastels! Simply put the Pastel-izer in a bowl, and gradually add the purple Manic Panic dye of your choosing. Mix the 2 together until you have achieved your desire pastel shade. Start slow with the purple - you can always add more to the bowl if it's still too light! Then, apply the pastel mixture to your hair as normal!

Hey guys! So a few months ago, I dyed my natural medium blonde (virgin) hair with Vampire Red and it turned out GREAT.Although It feels like I need a change now, so I've decided to change my hair colour to pastel blue.
I know I need to bleach my hair to light blond to get it blue, but how do I get there? Which bleach will give the best results on my red hair? (vol 30 or vol 40?) Do I need to dye it Virgin Snow after I've bleached it? Can I use pastelizer to blend the blue with or is better to use Virgin Snow? Do you have any extra tips? :)

Hey there! We would recommend that you use our Flash Lightening Bleach Kit in the 40 volume peroxide and lighten your hair to at least a level 9 or 10 blonde. You may use our Virgin Snow toner after bleaching your hair to cancel out any brassy tones left behind from the bleaching. Virgin Snow will give you white hair, perfect for using a pastel color over it. We would then recommend that you use our Pastel-izer and mix in a few drops of the blue color, keep mixing in a few drops until you have reached your desired pastel shade. :) Please email us at customerservice@manicpanic.com for any other questions.

I have ombre hair, so it is dark at the top but light at the bottom, I was thinking about adding a blue color to my hair ( using manic panic of coarse ) but I wasn't sure how it will turn out on ombre dyed hair, it would be great if you're me know (:
Saphire Rose It depends on how light your ends are! If you use a darker blue such as After Midnight or Shocking, you should get a beautiful blue. However, if you are using a lighter blue such as Blue Moon or Bad Boy Blue, any orange or yellow pigments in your hair, may make it more of a turquoise color. Good luck!

This product is amazing! I would like to ask I am getting 2 colors and one of them is Candy floss I think it's called.. But I don't think it would show on my dark brown hair? gougizzle Thank you for the compliment :) We have a color called Cotton Candy Pink which will not do anything to your dark brown hair. If you want a vibrant color, you will have to bleach. You can use our darker colors to give your hair a tint: After Midnight, Enchanted Forest, Vampire Red, or Hot Hot Pink.

I'll be using After Midnight on natural, curly, black/dark brown hair. I've used a burgundy (also semi permanent) from a different company and loved the tint it gave my hair. Hoping for some awesome results
I'm currently dying my dark, natural, virgin hair with Wildfire. I didn't pre-lighten it because I want it to be an extra dark, deep shade of red. I heard that if you put Manic Panic in your conditioner, that helps to maintain it really well. Is that true?
Josephine Hernandez If you want a dark, deep shade of red, Vampire Red over dark hair is really beautiful. Wildfire is lighter in nature so might not be as prominent. You heard correctly! It's a great refresher.

Thank you for being a Dye Hard! :) We would suggest that you use color safe shampoos and certainly ones that are sulfate free and sodium chloride free. Also, try to wash your hair in cool water and be sure to stay away from products that contain alcohol in them.

Stefana Mitrut It is! Remember Cotton Candy Pink has to be at least a level 9 or 10 blonde because of its extremely light nature. For best results, use Virgin Snow to remove any yellow or orange hues remaining in your hair for a perfect pink!
For dark hair, do I need to bleach in order to get color from the virgin snow? I don't necessarily need it to be white white. Grey coloring is fine with me. Just wanted to know if I needed to bleach to get any color.
Angelina Vancheri Virgin Snow is not a color, it is a toner! If you have dark hair, you will need to bleach to achieve any gray. However, we do offer darker colors that could tone your hair: Enchanted Forest, After Midnight, Vampire Red, or Hot Hot Pink!
