Man, I've been lurking here for a while. Whenever I'm learning a tune I first check to see if you have a lesson on it. Great stuff! Your efforts are very much appreciated!!
I think John used that black LES PAUL for all the tuned down stuff…in That era for sure, I believe the RICK was in standard for the other songs ..Green River, Bayou etc…I played this many times in bands and I got a Whammy pedal with a tune down/up capability so I didn’t have to tune down! Used it in other tunes too.Great job thanks!
Yet, Another I really want to work on and play Live!! Love CCR and John Fogerty!! His Show, " The Long Road Home " DVD is Must have for any True Fan. The Band he put Together is Stellar!!!!
Really good lesson. Great to mention the tone settings. Also, a lot of people have missed John's tunings which makes a huge difference for people trying to replicate the sound. Bad Moon Rising is nothing like the popular tabs people can find. Thanks for this!
Great lesson. I realize that the majority of CCR fans want your tutorial to be songs such as this song; and it's a good song, don't get me wrong. However, I believe Fogertys best guitar work is the d3but album and Bayou Country. They are just raw and less commercial, with much more intense playing. For example, I Put A Spell On You, Susie Q, Born on The Bayou are my favorite CCR tunes. Hopefully, someday you can give those a try??
Dude, always great to catch up on your videos! JF from my watching him live usually played a Rick and his Bro played a Gibson 335 or 345. Great lesson! Thanks!
So what's it like to have 68.4k subscribers? Almost 70,000 people pay attention to you. Sounds cool to me. Don't mess up 12-ft chain!! We're watching. 😎
Great lesson!! I like you taking time to explain the down tuning, really helps to get a handle on the disconnect - I'm playing A but sounds like G. Also, I set up up my D tuning and use heavier strings, also top wrap LPs creating more tension, helps tuning stability. Great tune, John doing lead while singing is bonkers. Ü ♫
Tom used a Guild Starfire IV through a Kustom amp. Those Kustoms grit up at about 2/3 full volume. For this track, John used a Les Paul Custom tuned down a whole tone and through his Kustom K-200-A4. You can see his fret positions on the _Ed Sullivan Show_ footage. Two things: for the lead guitar chords, G-F-C-G, the 'F' chord is played as a barre at third fret--but thumb over neck for 'F' bass and fingers fretting C-F-A-C-F; and the 'interlude' riff is played hybrid with pick and fingers.
Fogerty is a master of guitar mind-pranking regarding chords and tuning. I've been trying figure out his guitar parts for decades and never got it right.
Another great video. Would you please do a lesson on the Rolling Stones "Dead Flowers" and CCRs "Fortunate Son" because they sound almost the same to me now. I never noticed in the past 45 years.
These were some of the most important songs in my young life . I play this one but felt it was thin without that tuning trick . It's a bit much to ask but that lead on heard it through the grapevine ? I have a lot of it down and can wing it but could really benefit from your input .
when I play my guitar over the original recording song, my guitar its seems to be out of tune´, may be the original song was recording in another frecuency diferent than 440 hz?
John Forgerty mostly used D standard tuning in most CCR songs? I always thought he used E standard Tuning. I wonder if Clapton used Eb standing tuning or D standing tuning to get that woman tone in cream?
John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival) Vietnam Tribute (w/ Bob Dylan! Please, someone has to know what song hes playing at the start. The intro jam track bit
Could you do fried neck bones and home fries by Santana I think it’s one of the best Santana covers I’ve never seen anyone do it would be amazing would even donate and support thanks.
No I don't think the rhythm guitar is tuned down. Tom Fogerty played in Standard I'm pretty sure, and John did the down tuned thing on a bunch of songs and the combined sound of the two of them is a big part of the CCR sound for me
So John, with his standard drop tuning, invented the "negative capo" 😋. So here he's got a negative capo on the 2nd fret. Or a normal capo on the -2 fret. 😂. I hate capos! 😅😅
I and graduated HS in ‘75 .. CCR has always been in my ear .. thanks brother for the lessons , you are a great instructor 💯💯💯
Blown away by the deceptively simple riffs that I’ve never seen demonstrated. Thank you !
Most of the "deceptively" simple riffs make often the greatest songs ^^
It’s great that you’re covering all these classics thank you. You RUclips guitar teachers are doing us all a great service
Fantastic!!! Love the CCR lessons...
Man, I've been lurking here for a while. Whenever I'm learning a tune I first check to see if you have a lesson on it. Great stuff! Your efforts are very much appreciated!!
Best tutorial on this song.
No one else seems to know about both tunings.
Finaly someone got it right.
Well done my friend.
Love your channel.
You really nail all these classic songs. I´m learning a lot. Thanks
Brilliant lesson, as always from Twelve Foot Chain. Thank you so much once again. 🌌🌅🌠🕊👌🏻
My favorite CCR song! John Fogerty is a damn good player!
My Favorite CCR song!! Thanx, Doug!!

Fantastic! btw, you have a GREAT background behind you ;-) Sweet!
Really good lesson. Great to mention the tone settings. Also, a lot of people have missed John's tunings which makes a huge difference for people trying to replicate the sound. Bad Moon Rising is nothing like the popular tabs people can find. Thanks for this!
Oh yes, Ive learnt something new. Thank you so much for that lesson!
Nice work 12 Ft, always love CCR. I wore out the Double LP Album Chronicle: 20 Greatest hits back in 1979 ♪♫♪♫
Thaats what I learned CCR on, that chronicle album, though it was on cassette in the 80s. That is a must have
Another great lesson! I love the new tuning! Thank you!!!!
This was awesome! Exhausted is my absolute favorite song by the FooFighters!

For sure will

In a word Excellent. It Rocks!!!!!!
Thanks for the content my friend! Just covered this song after watching your video. Finally CCR sounds like it should! Keep up the good work!
Thanks again for all the music video 😎

Loads of good tips here. Thanks.
It ain't me ! Rock on brutha !!
always great my brother
I always tell people " 12 Foot chain"
More CCR, great choice

Great job thanks :) Using a Digitech Drop pedal saves the re-tuning and they sound great :)
Nice
impressive arsenal hanging on the wall.😎
Thank you very much, great job
Fogerty is a master of guitar mind-pranking regarding chords and tuning.
I've been trying figure out his guitar parts for decades and never got it right.
Cool channel as always.
Great lesson, also you're making me want a fender bassman lol!
John use's that tuning on several songs. It's a great sound when used with standard combined.
Another great video. Would you please do a lesson on the Rolling Stones "Dead Flowers" and CCRs "Fortunate Son" because they sound almost the same to me now. I never noticed in the past 45 years.

Can you do Everybody Get Together by The Youngbloods? I think we all could stand a little PEACE right now.
Good idea
Really great lesson
Only/id prefer colored lights over clear.
Please.
Sorry Mother?
You gotta do Johnny B Goode by chuck berry it’s a awesome tune
Sound s real fine.....
wonder how many other songs could have been improved with a different tuning
when I play my guitar over the original recording song, my guitar its seems to be out of tune´, may be the original song was recording in another frecuency diferent than 440 hz?

Don't think most, but many for sure. Proud Mary, bad moon, lodi, grapevine, others
I learmt this from your other video 3 years ago, the one that starts with A bar chord.

Great 😊
Cheers...
Strings rings?
The lower tone?
The rhythm guitar has to be tuned down .too?
No I don't think the rhythm guitar is tuned down. Tom Fogerty played in Standard I'm pretty sure, and John did the down tuned thing on a bunch of songs and the combined sound of the two of them is a big part of the CCR sound for me
Thanks Brother
Keep on Chooglin'
do i have to retune the guitar ...
So we play in A all the way😊
Less talk, more music. Burl Ives.
Some people appreciate the talk.
This guy looks so familiar to Me. Were you on a tv show building cars or something?
Nope
I thought the song was slightly off in pitch also?
Yes I think it's slightly flat if I remember. Barely
I use open G
That C bare chord aint easy for me. Im not a fortunate one who can play that particular chord lol
So John, with his standard drop tuning, invented the "negative capo" 😋. So here he's got a negative capo on the 2nd fret. Or a normal capo on the -2 fret. 😂. I hate capos! 😅😅
Negative capo, love it. Capo to -2 power.
75
??
We were too young?
Then ?
Ah too much talkies.
